  Elsewhere --
"I can't believe it. Orcs? But we destroyed them in the Great War. Not a
one has been seen since then, praise be. It can't be true." The old man
shook his head, lips tightly shut.
"They say our Lord Lothar himself was ambushed by them and trapped in an old
mine. He escaped, of course, but deep in the mountain he found a whole
village of 'em! It's destroyed now, but since then other people have seen
those ugly green lizards, and there's been big battles I've heard. They're
warning everyone to be prepared." The peasant boy crossed his arms. He
looked out of the kitchen window.
A commotion was going on outside. Dan was outside gesturing frantically to
the surrounding villagers. It wasn't very often Dan came out this way, what
with his farm being several miles down the track. He looked over his
shoulder, let out a scream and then began to run.
"What's going on?" Grandpa, too, had moved to the window. Back down the
trail a group of figures were hurrying this way. They could both see that
the people coming were not human.
"Orcs! Quickly Grandad, we have to go!"
The wrinkled man looked around slowly. "Just let me get my teeth. They're
  around here somewhere..."
"We don't have time!" With the trail blocked, we'll have to flee into the
forest. If we can reach the river, we'll find some way across and head to
the citadel. We must warn Lord Lothar. Grandad will be safe there.
From the corner of his eye he spies the old axe resting against the hearth.
He hefts it once before rushing out the door, grandfather in tow.
Down the road, the looming figures draw nearer.

Reach Lord Lothar and destroy the rampaging orcs. Lothar must be kept alive
  to reign another day.
