                               SOUND DRIVERS
                               -------------

Sound Driver Setup
==================

 When using a Sound Blaster 16 compatible card, the auto-detect feature of
the HMI sound driver software will sometimes detect it as a Sound Blaster AWE
32. If this happens, re-run the auto detect. If it still reports the sound
card incorrectly, please use the manual settings.

 There is no need to select a driver for midi as there is no midi music in
the game.

 ProAudio Spectrum users may experience graphic glitches if they attempt
to turn CD volume below 0.

 Pressing RETURN has the same effect as clicking on the connect button.

 On the serial connect screen pressing the CURSOR KEYS changes the comlink

 Additionally, during the network connect countdown, when you are certain
that ALL players have pressed the connect button the countdown can be aborted
by clicking the left mouse button with mouse at the top left corner of the

Chopshop
========

 When purchasing items from the chopshop, you are allowed one special weapon
upgrade per visit. The bars indicate that no further purchases of the upgrade
are available at this time.

General points
==============

 In the manual it states that as well as being able to pick cash up from the
tracks, you can also pick up health bonuses and nitros. These are actually
only available from a road-kill, although cash available as a pickup.

 If more than one player should choose a given bike during a multi-player
game, then the connect now screen will abort after connection and the game
will return to the character selection screens.

 In the manual it states that if you want hints or tips for the game you
should call the given 900 number and that you "Must be 18 nor have
parents permission". This should of course read "Must be 18 *or* have
parents permission". The 900 number will only work in the United States.

                            TECHNICAL ISSUES
                            ----------------

We had a problem on one system involving SmartDrive. If you experience
problems with the game, you might try disabling or removing the disk cache.
Removing it will not affect the in race game speed.

QEMM Stealth: Removing QEMM's Stealth feature may improve race performance.

You may want to run the BOOTDISK program (located in the root directory
on the CD-ROM disc) to create a configuration for the game.

There is a program in the root directory of the CD that will allow
you to copy the entire contents of the CD (excluding the music) to
your hard drive, and allow you to play a friend over a network or
serial connection. This takes about 150 Megabytes of hard drive
space. Just run NETCOPY from the CD and follow the on screen
directions.

You can insert the Maximum Roadkill CD into any audio CD player to
listen to the digitized music anywhere. Do not play track 1. This
track contains the binary data for the program. Most CD players will
play this track back as silence. Tracks 2 thru 11 contain the music.

The Trident video centering utility TVGACRTC.SYS can interfere with graphics
performance in the Chop Shop. If you experience problems we recommend that
you not load the utility.
