Mini PC benchmarking!

Mini PC benchmarking!

Hey gang,

I recently picked up some of the newest ryzen 7,ryzen 9, intel 12th and 13th gen i7, and the 1360p cpu version. Venus series NPB6 Venus UM790 pro with ryzen 9 7940HS,, intel nuc 12 Pro with intel 1360p, Minis forum TH60 i5/i7, Geekom AS6 with R9 6900HX, and slightly older intel NUC 12 enthusiast mini with the intel ArC gpu integrated.

Plan is to test the different gen mini Pc's with a variety of different thunderbolt 4 enabled EGPU housings, AND with the PCIe M.2 to full size external PCI enclosures /adapters I picked up from ebay, to test a variety of full size GPUs paired with the Mini PC's.

Most of the new Mini Pc's mentioned are ddr5 but a couple are still ddr4.

Feel free to ask questions or suggest any combinations of hardware for the benchmarks! Stay tuned for results!

Morefine S500+ 7840HS 32gb version

https://morefine.com/products/morefine-s500-r9-7940hs-r7-7840hs-32gb-6400mhz-ddr5-mini-pc?variant=40824265146455

Morefine very recently added a 32gb ram version of their S500+. I read on here last month that people were anticipating that this would likely be a good deal if/when released.

I couldn't find any posts about it so thought I'd start a post where people could discuss it. I'm thinking of getting the 7840HS/256gb version.

Minisforum EM780 seems to share bandwidth between front USB-C and wifi?

Minisforum EM780 seems to share bandwidth between front USB-C and wifi?

I've recently added an RTX 3090 as an eGPU to my EM780. I plugged it to the USB-C port at the front (the side with the power button). Later on I've noticed my SSH becoming less responsive, and especially, trying to download anything while running the eGPU under load was almost impossible.

After a random thought, I've tried swapping the power and eGPU cords, so now the eGPU data cable is connected on the back side of the EM780 (the side with USB and HDMI ports). This seems to have improved the performance of the wifi when the eGPU is under load.

So a PSA for anyone trying to get an eGPU or other heavy-bandwidth accessory connected to their EM780 while needing a good wifi bandwidth, use the back USB-C port.

A random pic of my current setup below, just because I'm quite proud of it 😅 (this was before I swapped the ports around, I need to find a better cable fit now)

Xinputbridge is out. It allows you to use your controller with actual controller mapping for mobox, non root box64droid versions, darkos and possibly Androbox and non root termux-box version

https://github.com/Ilan12346-maya/XinputBridge

I tried and got it working on mobox, box64droid native version(not the normal one) and darkos. I didn't try termux-box and Androbox.

I'm not mentioning the root versions of these projects as those directly support controllers.

This doesn't have anything to do with inputbridge btw despite the name. So, don't worry about malware. The dev of this project examined how winlator made controller support possible for itself and I guess ported that for the other projects that allow you to play windows games.

Both direct input and x-input controllers get detected as x-input controllers. One of my direct input controller had mapping issues with start and select buttons.

I'm not the dev btw

Edit: I forgot before but here's a tutorial video made by the dev

https://youtu.be/5PIed0Pzjw0

A mistake I made previously is that you have to press the red box first to get the inputs the register. This mode will make the touchscreen unresponsive for the most part. You need to press the near invisible red box again(it's where it was previously) to be able to use the touchscreen again.

Looking for recommendation for mini workstation

Hi all, can you please help me find a good solution! I am looking for a SFF PC with an emphasis on RAM and I/O throughput. No gaming. Will run it headless and connect via ssh. My use case is to install docker and load 1-3 containers with various databases (Oracle, Postgres, and MySQL). I’ll be accessing it mostly from my laptop via switch.

I’d like to have at least 64 if not 96gb of fast ram.

I really only need a single SSD but having the option of two might be good.

A 2.5/5/10gb NIC would be sweet, but likely overkill for my use case (but future proofing would be ok)

I’m looking at the minis forum MS-01 barebones and adding the ram/ssd. Also looking at the AR900i and buying a sff case but that means a lot more money.

Am I missing any better options or does anyone have any advice based on this use case?

Tomb Raider 4 - BeetlePSx HW graphical bugs

Tomb Raider 4 - BeetlePSx HW graphical bugs

I'm trying to run Tomb Raider The Last Revelation on Beetle psx hw. I'm running into some issue shown in the screenshots. Video cut scenes (I think) are showing as a yellow and red striped screen - audio seems to work. The loading screen colours are off and the 2D items in game have no transparency - the sun glare and rays are rendering with a black background. I've played around with the core settings a bit, but not really sure what to change exactly. The game seems to run ok on pcsx rearmed, but I prefer the beetle psx options, so would like to stick to it if I can. I'm using an Honor 70 - Snapdragon 778G+ Thanks for the help.

f6 or.....

im looking to buy a new phone for emulation (specially for 3ds and switch), currently i have a x3 pro but I don't want to mess up my phone with overheating so I need a new one

my options for the moment is the f6, seems to be good if it's like the Redmi turbo 3

or something similar if you know my budget is 450-500$ I only need 2 things: a good proccesor, Snapdragon I guess storage 500gb, enough for me I don't care about the camera or the design I only want for emulation with the minimum requirements

MiniPC recommendations for streaming YT/Kodi, and running Plex?

I'm looking for a miniPC to use with a display in my sports bar-themed mancave, and its main use will be streaming - YouTube, Kodi, MLB/MiLB.TV etc - as well as running Plex on so that I no longer need to keep my laptop running all the time... I'm hoping to not spend a huge amount on it; I was thinking something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CP7VHW7C/?coliid=I2H36O0P9TF205&colid=2289N5RJZU05T&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it but wondered if anyone had any thoughts? Any red flags about this device or other options I should look at?

Lenovo Y700

Hey guyz, just wondering if anybody is gaming on the Lenovo tablet and how is your experience with it. I'm debating on getting this than the xiaomi pad 6 but would like to hear your thoughts to those who have it. Would appreciate it if you also included how many months you've been using it to game as well. My poco x3 pro is showing its age especially in emulating. :(

Beelink SER5 Max Power Recovery

So I got one of these at Christmas and it's been really good, installed Proxmox on and very pleased with it, it's replaced a 2013 Mac Mini, Nvidia Jetson Nano, and a Rock Pi 4b. It also does more than those did along with some light gaming with 10 year old games using VirtGL and Steam Link.

Since it's running Proxmox I don't tend to reboot it as it's running my DNS & DHCP, but we had a power cut the other week so I thought I'd just have a peek in the BIOS, but I couldn't find anywhere that I could set it to turn on when power was applied.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I've since resurrected the Mac Mini to be a 2nd node in my cluster so I have a redundant DNS server and can manage it all from one place and that boots after power failure so I could always try wake on lan, it's just a pain to test this stuff as so much is now running on it :-(

New to learning Coding and Robotics, will RPi zero 2 w help me get better?

I recently bought a clone arduino uno starter set and got the hardware and coding (very) basics. Now i want a card/sbc or anything that will help me to understand and get better on robotics, electronics and coding. On the SBC side did a lot of research and for a beginner, i decided a RPi Zero 2 W would be the best solid option among other Pi choices(orange pi banana etc.)i got. The built in Wi-Fi module, better cpu and the 40 gpio pins are great for a beginner to learn linux, ssh based coding/robotics and electronics i thought. What are your thoughts? Do you advice anything better in this price range? Your help is appreciated 💝

(I live in Turkey so stuff from Aliexpress or amazon or other sellers wouldn't be so easy to get or affordable for me. Stuff like MangoPi is not obtainable for me.)
