Display for VR Project

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a 6 or 7in 720p 120hz display for a vr goggle project that I'm working on right now. I can't really find anything other than 15in monitors that show up when I try to find anything. I was just wondering if anybody knows of a good place to look or of a specific product that already exists.

What PI and parts do I need?

I have a BlackVue 770x dash cam.

I want to run a PI in my car that has the BlackVue Sync app ( https://github.com/acolomba/blackvuesync ) running to copy video from the camera to a Nextcloud instance that I will host at home.

The car has a Tmoble Sync in it to give me WiFi on the road and when I arrive at home the Pi can switch to my home network.

Should I get the 4GB or 8GB unit? I know I will need a USB WiFi adapter to connect to the dash cam local network and the T-Mobile sync. Both operate on the 2.4 spectrum

Should I get a M.2 hat or is a m.2 drive in a usb enclosure enough? I am thinking I should copy the video from the dash cam to local storage on the PI then have it go to the Nextcloud server

Need help with 4-20mA adapter and swift sensor

Hello, I am doing a job that requires me to read data from a Tilt sensor and then transmitt that data to a swift sensor that is connected to a 4-20mA adapter that the raspberry pi connects to through a USB. I am not able to get a signal through the adapter that the swift sensor can read, it is currently just checking to see if it can receive a signal between 4 - 20 mA but it's only reading 0.01 - 0.05 mA

I would really appreciate any help because I'm pulling my hair out trying to get this to work

Help needed

Hey everyone, I want to build a cool interactive art piece for an event for people to have fun with. I have seen videos and instructables using a pi/ camera/ and led wall for an interactive digital dance wall. I want to do this with a pi/ projector/ and kinect camera as a stand alone interactive piece. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative. Not looking to make it a touch wall, more for just motion and solid colors. Thanks again for your time, have a great day!

Can a raspberry pi do this?

Hay everyone. I been looking at getting something like a raspberry pi for a project, I like how its cheep and simple and wile I would like a x86 CPU and windows for what I'm doing Linux and a pi should work just as well.

What I want to do is install the pi into a retro PC, power it via a internal USB port or right off the PC's PSU and remote into the pi via windows remote desktop or some other old RDP or VCN app from a windows 98 or 2000 PC I would also want to setup a FTP/SMB on the pi to.

Can a raspberry pi be powered by USB or a PC PSU? And can it be used with windows remote desktop or some other old RDP or VCN app? Also how well are they at browsing the web? My main goal here is to setup a FTP or SMB and remote into the pi and grab files and move them over to the retro PC without the need of a second PC.

Help with Pi Zero 2w OC

Hello,

I'm really new at everything Pi/Linux related

I installed motioneyeos (https://github.com/jawsper/motioneyeos/releases/tag/20220119-dev) onto it, but trying to get better performance out of it. Right now my use case is that I'm using the pi zero 2 with a pi camera to capture footage via motion detection and the footage is sent to my pi 5 via Wifi.

I was hoping that with a OC, maybe I can get cleaner footage out of it? So I thought I'd try, but I have zero ideas how to OC it.

Side note: I see that it does throttle at like 82 celsius (how can I check temps on it also?) so I thought that if I do go through this with, it would be better to have a case that has a fan on it. Is there one out there? Thank you

Which OS for Headless set up for Home Assistant, "ARR stack" torrenting & Samba?

I just bought a Raspberry Pi 5 with 4GB RAM and I want to run it as a headless system to use for Home Assistant (just one security camera and automatically turning on/off privacy mode somehow), ARR stack torrenting (just downloading, not seeding) by finding a magnet from a torrent search (how?) and downloading it, then using Samba to connect to the downloaded file from my laptop and download it (or even better stream it?).

If it was just for Home Assistant I would use Home Assistant OS and call it a day. But if I want to use ARR stack or something similar and then download or stream the file from the pi5, which OS should I use?

Remember, this will be a 100% headless system, but I might need to remote into it to search for torrent magnets as I do not want to use my laptop for that (privacy, malware and virus risk etc).

So, would "Raspberry Pi OS with desktop" be the best option? As I will possible need a web browser. Or can I remote into "Raspberry Pi OS Lite" and use a web browser still?

Using laptop screen with raspberry pi

My Lenovo x230 died, leaving me with a few parts, some which works, some which doesn't.

The screen itself works fine (or, it should at least), so I want to connect the screen using the display port on my PI. But just plugging it in to that doesn't work, I expect I need some drivers or something to get it running (maybe).

So, what do I need to run this? the screen itself has no other cables than the display ribbon itself, so no external power or anything

CM4-Nano-Cam

For my senior capstone project, I have created a python program that runs your Raspberry Pi with a Picamera2 compatible camera as a security camera with motion detection and email notifications using Googles smtp server.

I have credited to allphasepi under my GitHub page because I forked this project from him.

I specifically used a CM4 and a CM4-Nano-C. If you use the same setup as myself, you will need to change the white point configuration file because the default one is for the IR camera sensor and the CM4-Nano-C has is NOIR.

I am still working on implementing features.

Is it possible to do this project?

Hello! I am new to the Raspberry world, I don't know much. I am currently working on a project vehicle and I recently encountered a problem:

I need to make a dashboard (probably via TunerStudio) but I don't have any OBD2 ports (in fact I don't have any ECU modules) out from my engine. It's just an old, rusty, small unit, no electrinics at all. So OK, I pretty much know how to make a dashboard, but I want to combine it with 2 speed sensors: one for RPM (for the crankshaft rotation) and one for speed (the axle rotation). I can't really find any tutorials or guides for this. Can I do it with only 1 Raspberry PI unit? Is it just entering the 3 codes (dashboard, tachometer, speedometer)? Can you help me?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, it most probably is. I don't even know if this is the correct subreddit. But I want your advices, they are really appreciated. Stay safe!

I'm looking for assistance with my FIRST build (Tandem Build)

Hello Everybody,

I am very new to this community. I have not yet used a Raspberry Pi in any capacity yet. However, I have a large project up and coming. as you can see in the title this is going to be a tandem project as one of the projects will work in conjunction with the other project. To start off I would like to state that I learned my fair share of data and networking knowledge while in the Marine Corps so I'm not a complete idiot with this type of stuff but I do require more information that could help. I spend a lot of time in nature. lots of time out in hills hiking in Oregon. or even just on my property. I have started getting into MILSIM or (Military Simulation) for those unaware. After committing for a multiple day event where tons of people gather together to LARP and have fun. Im looking to take my immersion to the next level with a large pelican case based cyber deck. the features I plan to include are quite expansive. to include a entertainment library, knowledge, MESH communications, and possibly SATCOM/HAM radio. The big part of this project comes to the other half. I saw an individual on YouTube create his own Automated Reaper Drone. Hi drone was constructed with foamboard, thin plywood, as well as some lightweight PLA 3d printed pieces. I am looking to accomplish this same feat with 1 major twist. I would like to have a full pan/tilt camera with addition to IR/Thermal capable cameras. Along with the camera being full pan/tilt I plan on making the camera controllable Via the cyber deck. the Last contingency is that the cameras be able to show the difference between friend and foe using previously written object/human identification programming. I know this seems like a very large project, but at the same time it couldnt. at this point I have no idea. I have found all the components to include IR/Thermal camer.

Utilizing Raspberry Pi Pico for Local File Writing via Serial Communication

The Raspberry Pi Pico and Pico W models offer the ability to write files directly to your local computer using Serial communication. This process involves a simple Python script on your computer and a corresponding MicroPython script on your Raspberry Pi Pico device.

This functionality is particularly useful when you need to gather and store large amounts of data from sensors, which is a typical use case for these microcontrollers. Moreover, it facilitates the smooth transmission of existing files.

Bmc64 pi 3a+ Undervault issues

Hi I have a 5v 3a generic charger that connects to my setup via the right side of my original commodore via a barrel connector port. Everything works. The pi boots to the vice emulator etc. games play but when I add a joypad to the setup via usb to the pi itself I get a yellow low power under volt symbol In the upper right of my screen. When the game starts the music is glitchy to the point of being unplayable. My question is do I need a different power supply? The specs of my generic barrel charger claims to meet the pi 3a+ power needs.. 5v 3a. Thanks in advanc

Camera monitor

I'm trying to use a raspberry pi 5 as a camera monitoring system. I have 2 separate dahua nvr systems each with a few cameras. I want to hook the raspberry pi to a monitor and make it so when I boot the pi it shows all cameras from both nvr systems, I've looked at doing this with vlc but I think I can only do one camera on each Instance at a time. I also looked at having the pi auto navigate to the ip addresses for both nvrs. I recently read a little about ssh for the dahua nvrs. Any suggestions which way I should go about this or a reccomendation for a different option?

Motioneye Camera with Pi 4

I have been working on this project for almost a month now and I feel like I have exhausted 99% of options.

I have tried several different operating systems and two different cameras (USB, Pi Camera Module 2)

The farthest I've gotten is getting motioneye open, but then a camera is never recognized, even though I can take test images and videos via the terminal.

Even a guide made in 3/24 I followed doesn't work. I have the know-how to troubleshoot so its not like I'm blindly following guides and giving up afterwards, I have spent countless afternoons on this.

Is motioneye just toast compatibility wise? Does anyone have any helpful tips in terms of OS to use? How to get the camera recognized? Possible alternatives to motioneye?

Much appreciated

Raspberry Pi 4 head unit

Hello guys this is my first post here and my first RPi project. I’ve done some Arduino projects and hobby projects in the realm of Hi-Fi audio and have a solid background in programming. So I’m not completely in the dark here and I kind of know what I’m getting myself into.

The project itself in a simple description is: I have this OEM Ford RDS 6000CD EON head unit that I want to keep only the front control panel and if possible the form factor of the whole unit. The front panel has a small LCD screen that I’m probably going to exchange for something with higher resolution because I want to run an animation on it when starting the radio. I also want to keep the CD and radio functionalities and want to add Bluetooth and maybe add somewhere on the head unit or somewhere in the car two ports one for AUX and one for USB. All of that powered by a RPi 4 8GB.

From the research I’ve already done I found out that the essential component in that system would be a DAC. The one I chose is the HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro. Some sources suggested to add a pre-amp to the head unit, but my idea is to connect every audio input to the RPi and use ADC if needed for some of the inputs like the AM/FM tuner or the CD player, and then output them via the DAC HAT to an amplifier in the trunk.

The original head unit was in working condition when I got it so it has a CD player that maybe I can reuse and fits the form factor perfectly. Bluetooth is already available from the RPi and the HiFiBerry HAT has an AUX port that I can use to deliver good quality sound. For the radio I can probably find some kit that I can embed into the microcomputer and plug in my existing antenna.

What do you guys think of this plan? What problems may I encounter? Do you even think something like this would be possible? And has anyone done something similar?

Feel free to suggest any different approaches or any tips it would really help.
