PSA: You can make Dolphin Android store data in a folder of your choice

One thing that's been annoying to me about the Dolphin GC/Wii emulator on Android is that it can't configure save file locations.

I like syncing my saves between different systems, but Android Dolphin by default puts its saves into a private Android/data directory instead of storing them in my nicely synced save-game folder.

Here's how you can fix that. Unfortunately, step 6 likely requires root access, but the others don't.

Steps:

  1. Uninstall any Dolphin you currently have installed. Sorry.
  2. Install "dolphin-master-5.0-15341.apk" from https://dl.dolphin-emu.org/builds/e6/5b/dolphin-master-5.0-15341.apk . This is the last version before the addition of the Storage Access Framework.
  3. Launch Dolphin once. Exit it. This will create the dolphin-emu folder in /storage/emulated/0
  4. Install a current release of Dolphin WITHOUT uninstalling the previous one - just update
  5. Now, Dolphin's settings for paths are active in the UI! You can choose folders for WFS, Wii NAND, etc.
  6. One last fix. You'll need to edit the file /storage/emulated/0/dolphin-emu/Config/Dolphin.ini. In the Core section, insert GCIFolderAPath = /storage/emulated/0/<wherever you want them>. Of course if you're not using GCI folders, change the equivalent setting instead.

After this, Dolphin will be placing all save-game data into the folder of your choice.

If any Dolphin devs are reading this, it would be super nice if you had a GUI setting to allow the user to set the GCI folder (or memory card) path when SAF is disabled. It's pretty lame that desktop Dolphin can do this but Android Dolphin can't.

any mini pc pairs AMD cpu & NVIDIA dgpu coming this year?

I'm looking to find a mini pc that's paired with a Ryzen 7940 series cpu or 88 series, paired with RTX 4060-4070 dgpu, is there any manufacturer that supports that configuration or would I need to do a SFF build? I would wait for that to happen but sometimes it's better to buy the parts & just build it, but if there's any coming in the next 6-9 months, I'd probably save & wait for the release. Any advice?

GMKtec K8 - TPM not working

GMKtec K8 8845HS, 32GB, 2TB, Win 11 Pro (factory specs)

I just can't get tpm to work on my K8 with a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro.

I downloaded the latest image of Win 11 23H2 from Microsoft, installed it successfully, and then installed all drivers from GMKtec K8's support page. I then flashed the two latest bios files to enable NPU toggle in bios.

Everything seemed to be working fine, but then I noticed that bitlocker was not activated due to no TPM being detected. I have tried everything (every related bios settings, updating chipset drivers, deleting and reinstalling the AMD PSP driver), but nothing seems to be working.

In device manager under events for the PSP 11.0 device, I see an error related to the device not starting, so I assume my TPM issue is related to that.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue on an AMD mini PC and had any success with getting TPM to work?

The only thing I haven't tried yet is to install Windows from the image on GMKtec's support site. You would think that the driver's they provide should be enough, but maybe there is something they embedded in the Windows image that enables TPM.

Any fix on sudachi not being recognised as a game in s23 ultra

I like using the by pass battery charging function in my s23 ultra because my battery doesn't get used up when playing heavy games and also boost the performance but sudachi is not recognised as a game so I can't use the function. In yuzu I could play assassin creed for 1 hour and the battery won't decrease because of this function and this function doesn't work on sudachi which performs better

Texture replacements on aethersx2 not working

Hello! I'm trying to get texture replacements working on aethersx2 but nothing I try seems to be working.
I'm placing all the textures in xyz.aethersx2.android/files/textures/GameID/replacements.
I have Load Texture Replacements and Asynchronous Texture Replacement options turned on.
I tried both DDS and PNG files, and the textures aren't changing at all.
One thing I noticed is that when I try to load the save file from the main menu on a clean boot it crashes the game and takes me back to aethersx2 game list. Not sure if this is relevant to trying to solve the issue.

Any ideas?

I've tried different video backends, disabling skip EFB access/ XFB copies to texture, dual core, etc, but it just doesn't start. Im using the latest version of dolphin emulator, and I'm playing on a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. Thanks.

Hi, My DualShock D Pad and the joysticks doesn't work on PPSSPP

Hi, My DualShock D Pad and the joysticks doesn't work on PPSSPP and some other games, Weirdly enough every single button works, I have read all of the solution in this reddit but none seems to work except mantis gamepad. The thing about mantis gamepad is it requires coins to run a game and no other way to earn the coins, is there any other solution? I think the problem is my phone uses the controller for navigating the phone.

Title: Help Needed: "Failed to Create SDL Window" Error on Dark OS with Wine

I'm running into a frustrating issue and could really use some help. I'm trying to run games on Dark OS, a Windows emulator that uses Wine on Termux and Termux X11 on my Android device. Here's a quick rundown of my setup:

  • Device: Helio G80 with Mali G52 MC2 GPU, 8-core processor
  • OS: Android 14
  • Emulator: Dark OS
  • Wine Version: Tried multiple versions including 9.0 Proton non-wow64, 9.3 wow64, and 8.18 staging wow64
  • Graphics: Using VirGL drivers with OpenGL 4.0
  • Issue: Whenever I try to run Half-Life or similar games, I get a "Failed to create SDL Window" error.

What I've Tried So Far:

  1. Wine Configuration:

    • Set Windows version to Windows 10.
    • Added SDL overrides (sdl2 and sdl set to native, builtin).
    • Enabled "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows."
    • Allowed the window manager to decorate and control the windows.
    • Tried emulating a virtual desktop with various resolutions.
  2. VirGL Settings:

    • Ensured OpenGL 4.0 is selected.
    • Set Mesa loader to virpipe.
    • Set Gallium driver to virpipe.
    • Configured the GPU type to match Mali G52.
  3. DXVK Versions:

    • Tried the latest stable DXVK version 2.3.1 and other versions down to 2.0.
  4. Running with Debugging:

    • Used WINEDEBUG=+sdl wine hl.exe to gather detailed logs.

Current Error:

Despite all these efforts, I still receive the "Failed to create SDL Window" error. Below is a screenshot of the error: ![Error Screenshot](URL_TO_ERROR_SCREENSHOT)

Additional Information:

  • Other .exe files run without issues.
  • All related software (Termux, Wine, Termux X11) is up to date.

Beelink SER7 vs SER8 vs 790Pro

Hi, this is probably a topic that has already been discussed, but what's happening now?

Right now, I'm using a 790Pro with Proxmox and a VM with Win10. When everything is working, it's pretty nice. The fan creates some resonance with the case, but it's not too bad. The Radeon reset bug is quite annoying, but it's probably the same for all these devices.

But lately, I've had some random reboots or halts with my 790Pro, and I'm wondering if this wouldn't be the case with the Beelink devices?

The SER7 is pretty much comparable to the 790Pro but is not available on Amazon.de with 64GB of RAM. The SER8 is only available via Amazon US, and due to duty, it's probably significantly more expensive. And there are probably also some other bugs because of early adoption. I could return the 790Pro until June 6th, but if the others have the same problem, I'm wondering if I should do this.

Is there hope that the problems get addressed? The last BIOS update was already 6 months ago, and I'm not sure if there will be any maintenance now, especially if a SER8 challenger is launched.

My use case: I want to use it as a daily driver instead of my gaming PC, which draws way too much power for some stupid activities. At first, I planned to use the 7900Pro for everything in my home system, but with the Radeon reset bug, it's not very appealing to reboot often for these tasks. Therefore, I keep using another Minisforum PC (which is fine). The iGPU is nice because of hardware acceleration for photo editing and to use it as a private gaming cloud for less-demanding games. I want to stick with Proxmox because of the automatic backups and the possibility of running other VMs, e.g., for dedicated servers as well.

/edit: corrected grammar

Cost effective minecraft server question

I'm looking to put together a minecraft server with my kiddo as a home project. I want to be able to run both Java and Bedrock on it, and want to have creative, survival and hardcore worlds on it

What I'm needing I think is a PC with expandable RAM to 32gb and a processor over 3.5 ghz. Cost effective if possible

Any suggestions?

Help with PkHex android

Hello! Hope you're all well.

I'm trying to use the PkHex build for android (the PkHex Maui available on GitHub). I'm trying to edit my Volt White 2 Redux save to change the nature of my Snivy.

I'm able to access the save just fine and edit the Snivy, however I'm unsure what to do next. I've tried exporting the save and overwriting the save file in my Drastic/backup folder.

However, when I try loading back into VW2R, it just defaults back to the unedited save file. Am I doing something wrong?
