Mini PC's with custom cooling?

Something like an Odroid H4 Ultra which has a stronger N305 CPU and lets you install your own fan like a BeQuiet or Noctua 92mm for a quiet experience. My issue with the H4 Ultra is that it has no wifi/bt module or usb-c port. Looking for something under $330 since that's an H4 ultra final price would be with 16gb of ram and all the other components. AMD would be fine but idk if there's anything in that price range and that also has av1 decoding. MAX of 1 system fan for the entire system.

M910x Tiny as a Plex Server?

Hello, I'm currently looking for a SFF or Mini PC to use as a Plex and Media Server as well as an IPTV device, I expect to plug USB drives on it. It only requires one HDMI 4K60 port. I was looking for 4K120 minis but those are still expensive. Would a M910x Tiny fits the bill? I can have one over Ebay for ~200$ tax included. Thanks!

Need some opinion on this lenovo mini pc -I am well aware of the compromises and performance loss in this form factor -But i need a small pc since I move around a lot -And a gaming laptop is out of my budget -APUs are my best bet, considering the cost of still inflated pc parts in my country

Need help deciding which Mini PC to buy

Hello! So Mini PCs are very hard to come by in my country so the choices are very limited and due to high taxes importing is not an option right now. I managed to find two that interest me, but I don't know much about PC hardware and I need help deciding which one I should grab.

EDIT: It will be used mostly for gaming. I don't really expect to play the most recent AAA games at full specs but it would be nice being able to play them at all

  1. SVMIY Gaming Mini PC (520$)
  • Intel Core i7 9750H
  • NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 4GB
  • 16gb RAM
  • 512gb SSD

or

  1. Intel NUC 11 Enthusiast (978$)
  • Intel Core i7-1165G7
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6Gb
  • 16gb RAM
  • 1tb SSD

Second one is better, of course. But it is also way pricier and I'm not entirely sure if the leap in price is worth it. Both can be expanded up to 64gb of RAM.

Qotom Q20332G9-S10 RAM not running in dual channel

Hello, I recently acquired one of these Qotom Q20332G9-S10 mini PCs and am using Alpine Linux as my router. Everything seems working apart from the fact that both lshw and dmidecode don't seem to indicate that the RAM is running in dual channel. I have 2 identical Samsung M471A5244CB0-CWE 4GB modules. There is setting in the BIOS for dual channel, but it is already enabled and has been since I got the machine. Here is the dmidecode and lshw output i see, lmk if there is anything else i need to do to enable this.

A Gamesir G8, a OnePlus 7T pro, and the lack of pass through charging - stupid reason and a solution

Earlier I had a discussion regarding the lack of pass through charging support on OnePlus 7T pro with Gamesir G8. I even doubted if I had a faulty product, but after further testing with multiple devices, I've concluded that, it is infact the limitation of OnePlus 7T pro.

Observation: when connected with power, the charging and the controller disconnects each other in a repeating manner.

(While testing this, mine was on OOS 11, so if anyone had different experience with their OOS 12 software, do mention)

To strengthen the claim, I connected a hub to the phones port and attached both a mouse and a charger to it and to my expectation the same thing happened. This seemed like a needlessly stupid thing to happen which I assumed only is an unnecessary barrier created by Oneplus's software.

Now that, I'm on a custom rom (PE 13+), on the same OnePlus 7T pro, it magically can do both. So if anyone were wondering the same, there's your answer.

Meanwhile, if anyone can explain, why a clearly superior (USB 3.0) port refused to do what other 2.0 ports did without any tweaking, or the reasoning behind this behaviour, please enlighten me.

My earlier thoughts on the controller

How do you fix this graphical issue in Yugioh Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution?

How do you fix this graphical issue in Yugioh Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution?

Referring to the cards glitching on the left. I used every switch emulator. With the only one that works well with this game being Suyu. Since i can make new decks without it crashing unlike with Sudachi. I used 30+ drivers and it still has this several graphical issue. I switched the accuracy to high and extreme along with changing the resolution. Nothing is working. It also has this glitch during gameplay too.

Where's the D-Pad and Ultrawide screen hack in Nethersx2?

Where's the D-Pad and Ultrawide screen hack in Nethersx2?

I just tried Nethersx2 for the first time since a lot of ppl prefer this than Aethersx2's last update.

But when i finally open the emulator, I dont see the D Pad. Not even in the controls settings. This is hard for me to navigate menus and choices with just Analog stick.

Aethersx2 has a Ultrawide screen hack but I also dont find this in Nethersx2. Btw, this is the latest "update" for the emulator

Beelink SER8 notes/review

Writing this up since I recently got my hands on a SER8.

It's a minor, but more refined update to the SER7 of last year. With this iteration the machine has moved from the AMD 7840HS/7940HS to the newer 8845HS cpu.

The 8845HS and fairly similar to the 7840HS, but with an improved AI engine. More importantly, various sources have claimed that the 8845HS is a more refined process and potentially more stable than the previous versions where some users saw issues.

The best part about the SER8? Beelink has introduced a brand new cooling system and this is one of the quietest machines I’ve ever tested, particularly under load.

Specs

AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS (8 Cores, 16 Threads @ 3.8 GHz)
AMD Radeon 780M Graphics
32GB DDR5 RAM
1TB Crucial P3 SSD
Connectivity: 3.5mm audio jack (2) USB 3.0 ports (1) USB-C 3.1 port (1) USB-C 4.0 port (1) HDMI port (1) DisplayPort (1) 2.5GbE Realtek Ethernet port Wi-fi 6 (not 6e)

Benchmark Results

In our tests, the mini PC delivered the following benchmark results:

3DMark Time Spy

Overall Score: 3,363
Graphics Score: 3,033

The 780M is probably best for modern games at 720p high or 1080p low, depending on how new demanding the game is. It will easily handle emulation and older games.

Cinebench 2024:

CPU (Multi-Core): 816 points
CPU (Single-Core): 106 points

Speedometer 3.0:

Speedometer score: 21.9

JetStream 2:

Jetstream score: 346.1

CrystalDiskMark:

Sequential Read: 5,186 MB/s
Sequential Write: 4,746 MB/s

Noise and Thermals

This is one of the best mini PCs I have ever tested for noise. The new cooling solution is exceptionally quiet.

Temperatures

Remained in the 76-80c range under load (depending on balanced or performance mode). SSD temperatures were much lower than in the GTR7 I tested in the past as well so they seem to have addressed this issue.

Noise

Idle Noise Level: 29 dB
Load Noise Level: 38 dB

Under load, this is one of the quietest mini PCs out there with a good noise profile.

Pros

  • The AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS is currently the fastest mobile CPU available until the release of Strix Point later this year.
  • Dual NVME slots is nice to see in the SER now
  • The 8845HS is more stable compared to the previous 7840HS that was known to have issues for some users.
  • Enhanced AI Performance: Improved AI TOPS performance. This may prove useful if you run local LLMs or for future software.

Could be Improved

  • High idle power draw: At 14w, this is one of the highest idle machines we’ve seen
  • Minimal performance increase: There is not much performance increase compared to the SER7/7840HS, primarily just offering improved stability. I’d still recommend going with this model over the 7840HS though due to stability.
  • Potential wireless issues: Some users have reported issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, although this was not an issue for me as I tested with ethernet.

The SER8 is a minor update performance wise, but with amazing cooling and more stable. Just be aware that if you’re not using ethernet, wi-fi may be an issue for you, but can be cheaply resolved.
