After being announced earlier this week, Gameloft has today released the latest free update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, welcoming The Princess and the Frog's Tiana into the slice-of-life action.
The 'Dapper Delights' update adds new content for those with the base game and those with the expansion pass, so whichever version you play, there are some fresh features to check out.
Following the release of Gothic Classic and Gothic II Classic on the Nintendo Switch, it looks like the third entry in the fantasy-themed open-world RPG series is also coming to the Nintendo Switch in the future.
A new (and now removed) rating for Gothic 3 Classic has been spotted on the ESRB. Below is a look, courtesy of Gematsu. It will be rated 'T' for teen and contains "blood and gore, language, mild suggestive themes, use of drugs and violence".

There's some incredibly sad news coming out of Japan this week about the passing of Atsuko Tanaka - the voice actor behind many major video game and anime roles. This was revealed by her son Hikaru Tanaka on social media - with Oricon News noting how she died on 20th August 2024 at 61 years of age.
Some of her most notable roles included the voice of Bayonetta in the Japanese version of the game, Chun-Li from the Street Fighter series, Lara Croft and Motoko "The Major" Kusanagi - the protagonist of the famous anime series Ghost in the Shell. In addition to this, she played characters from games and anime like NieR Replicant (Kaine), Devil May Cry (Trish) and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Lisa Lisa).
The first three games are available now on Switch.
Well, the Gearbox studio head Randy Pitchford wasn't joking around when he recently teased Borderlands 4. At Gamescom Opening Night Live this year, it was revealed the fourth entry would arrive in 2025 on multiple platforms.
Although there's no mention of a Nintendo release, it seems like there's a good chance of one in the future, with the Switch "successor" announcement scheduled to take place at some point "this fiscal year". The original Borderlands trilogy (and even some spin-offs) have also been made available on the Switch during its lifecycle.

Genshin Impact fans waiting for the game to arrive on the Switch have voiced their feelings and thoughts online today after the game was announced for another platform at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

We were more than a bit surprised when Sid Meier's Civilization VII was confirmed to be coming to Switch at Summer Game Fest 2024. And at Gamescom, we found out when we can expect to play the game on all consoles — 11th February 2025.

We've been waiting for news of Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh on Switch for a while now (ever since it was first teased back in 2022, to be precise), but it looks like we won't have to wait too much longer. The Nintendo Museum is finally opening this year and now that Nintendo has given us a preview in the latest Direct broadcast, we've put together this gallery capturing its retro history.
As previously revealed, the museum is built on the site of Nintendo's original factory (the Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant) where it made Hanafuda and playing cards. Quality checks also happened at this location during the Famicom era.
As an M-rated game being published by Nintendo, there's certainly been a lot more interest in Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club in the lead-up to its release than there might have been with a more...well, Nintendo-esque content rating attached.
Whether it deserves the full-blown adult treatment, we've yet to discern as we've only had time with the prologue and first chapter so far, which you too should have access to at the time of writing via the multipart demo hitting the Switch eShop. But what we can say, is that this is an intriguingly dark game from the get-go whilst still remaining something that long-time fans of the Famicom Detective Club series should feel right at home playing.
The Nintendo Museum is opening in Kyoto, Japan this year. Nintendo has now sent ticket reservations live and also provides all sorts of helpful information on the official museum website. Here's a quick rundown about some things you might want to know before you visit the museum.

Well, we've just had our first proper look at the Nintendo Museum, courtesy of Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and at the very end of the broadcast, an opening date was confirmed.

Who remembered that Gamescom gives out awards? Yep. At the end of every event, the show hands out awards to all eligible games that are present at the Cologne-based expo. One of these categories is the 'Best Nintendo Game', which has been around since 2012. However, the award won't be handed out this year as the organisers have scrapped the award for 2024.
TheGamer, who reported on the story, reached out to Gamescom's organisers about the decision to scrap the award, and their response revealed that there were "too few submissions" for the category. Here's the brief statement in full:
"We've made adjustments to improve the overall gameplay experience".

Limited Run games is collaborating with Sega to release a very special collector's edition of the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations on Switch.
Arriving at some point in 2025 and retailing for an eye-watering $249.99, the package nevertheless comes with some pretty cool extras. After an initial announcement back in 2020, Bandai Namco has fully revealed Fate/Extra Record, a full remake of the 2010 PSP title Fate/Extra.
Slated for 2025 on Nintendo Switch, Fate/Extra Record is currently only confirmed for Japan, but Bandai Namco's involvement in the Type-Moon-developed dungeon crawler makes a Western release fairly likely. The remake will boast overhauled visuals and a new combat system, both of which can be glimpsed in the new trailer alongside the usual visual novel mechanics and explorative segments.

In his latest post on social media, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director revealed a LEGO set he received for his 54th birthday earlier this week. It's not just any old Lego set, either - it's the Lego NES! In a follow up post, he chose to highlight the secret underground level hidden inside this build.

It seems Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will now be returning sooner rather than later, with Dragami Games announcing the game is launching in North America, Europe and other regions on 12th September 2024 (instead of the 26th September 2024) for $44.99 USD.

But the studio's newest game is something completely different from the team, and while the game is currently exclusive to PC, a new rating suggests that it will be coming to Nintendo Switch.

Thanks to a partnership between developer Crazy Viking Studios and retro specialist Digital Eclipse, we can step back into the boots of Volgarr as he embarks on a quest that will prove more deadly than any he’s faced. The result is a game that, frankly, feels improved in just about every conceivable way, making Volgarr the Viking II not only one of the best 2D action platformers on Switch, but one of the best of all time.

Nintendo has released an adorable new piece of artwork featuring Mario and Luigi to celebrate the warm, relaxing Summer months (thanks, Tokyo Game Life).
Available to download over on My Nintendo, the artwork features Mario and his brother Luigi chiling in the shallow depths of the ocean, while a cute Blooper gazes up from underwater. We can also see a standard Super Star nestled in the sandy beach, which suggests that Mario and Luigi's vacation getaway probably wasn't Isle Delfino, where the native Shine Sprites boast a different design.
Monolith Soft, the developer behind the wonderful Xenoblade Chronicles franchise, has announced that it is looking to recruit new talent for what it describes as a 'new RPG'.

Last week's bout saw us chucking Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for the Nintendo DS into the ring. The designs for this one were pretty similar, all told, but Europe ultimately lost out with its lack of supporting characters and, uh, copious stickers. North America and Japan bagged an impressive 73% of the vote, so well done!
The new Mortal Kombat movie wrapped filming earlier this year and then locked in an October 2025 release date.
Now, in a new update, series co-creator and Mortal Kombat 1 director Ed Boon has shared the very first look at the sequel movie. Boon says he saw an "unfinished cut" and jokes about grabbing the image from the phone of the movie's producer Todd Garner. Todd even responded to this in an exchange on social media.

The second round of LEGO Animal Crossing sets brings two key locales from your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island to life in Danish brick form. Alongside the Dodo Airlines terminal, K.K. Slider makes his Lego debut in the K.K.'s Concert at the Plaza set.
This is the priciest of the two sets, including three minifigures (including a new version of Isabelle), a facade of the Town Hall including the clock, the noticeboard, and the flagpole, K.K.'s camper van, and a small cafe serving tea and sweetmeats.
