FF14 server status and maintenance times - is FFXIV down?

Is FF14 down? If you can’t log on to FF14 or access your character, it might be due to ongoing maintenance or server issues. Before worrying about any problems with your game, you’ll want to check the FF14 server status and currently scheduled maintenance times below to see if the MMO is offline.

If you can’t log into FF14, it’s typically because of planned maintenance. The critically acclaimed MMORPG occasionally schedules downtime to implement patches, updates, and other hotfixes or to perform maintenance on the game’s servers. Developer Square Enix usually announces these well ahead of time, so be sure to read on and see when future maintenance times are planned.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle nails the vibe but I’m not sold yet

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle nails the vibe but I’m not sold yet

When it came to choosing a developer for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, I firmly believe MachineGames was the right team for the job. No-one has a better track record than the Wolfenstein developer when it comes to punching Nazis, or tracking down mysterious and ancient artifacts in elaborate ways to keep them out of the hands of said Nazis. Having now seen a demonstration of the new Indiana Jones game ahead of its reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live, I can say that MachineGames has absolutely nailed the tone - but I’ll need to see more before I’m convinced this is a truly great game.

New Fallout 76 update ensures that you’ll never be bored again

New Fallout 76 update ensures that you’ll never be bored again

The Fallout 76 of today is a far cry from the sparsely populated wasteland it was at launch. In the six years since Bethesda’s open-world multiplayer survival RPG launched to a decidedly lukewarm response, the team has worked hard to transform it into a vibrant playground for post-apocalyptic shenanigans. With the Milepost Zero update currently in testing on the PTS, PCGamesN sat down with lead producer Bill LaCoste and creative director Jon Rush to talk about how its new caravans are just the addition it needs.

Mecha Break is already flying on Steam as multiplayer playtest begins

It’s a great time to be a fan of big robots and mechs alike. Elden Ring creator FromSoftware proved that there’s still plenty of life in the genre with Armored Core 6, and now another of the biggest names in the business is set to make a comeback soon with Mechwarrior 5: Clans. As if that weren’t enough evidence, the Mecha Break playtest, which has just launched in a limited form on Steam, shows just how much potential interest there is in the upcoming game from Amazing Seasun.

Ark Survival Ascended to add an adorable pal alongside Aberration DLC

As the Ark Survival Ascended Aberration DLC creeps closer, developer Studio Wildcard lifts the lid on another accomplice joining the roster. Arriving alongside the new expansion pack, which is currently scheduled for the start of September, this cutesy critter will be available to players who have purchased the Bob’s Tall Tales add-on for the dinosaur survival game, and it feels like a make-good for people sad that a similar option missed out on the community Aberration creature vote.

Reverse city builder Terra Nil is now bigger and better than ever

Reverse city builder Terra Nil is now bigger and better than ever

For all their construction, most of the biggest and best city builders and strategy games are inherently destructive in their nature, tasking you with scooping up natural resources and covering the environment in concrete and metal. Against all the industrial sprawl of Civilization and Cities Skylines, then, Terra Nil felt like a quite literal breath of fresh air, and now its first big free update is here packing in plenty of reasons to check back in.

Red Dead meets Doom in Wild West boomer shooter you can try for free

Red Dead meets Doom in Wild West boomer shooter you can try for free

The Wild West is such a fantastic setting, yet it sometimes feels a little underutilized in gaming. Classics such as Gun, the original Red Dead Revolver, and the excellent Call of Juarez paved the way for Rockstar’s masterful Red Dead Redemption 2. Yet new boomer shooter Chambers, from the developer of the surreal Golden Light, blends that western charm with fast-paced classic FPS games like Doom and Quake, and you can try an early taste thanks to a prequel available to play now as a free Steam game.

Ultra satisfying destruction simulator launches version 1.0 on Steam

Ultra satisfying destruction simulator launches version 1.0 on Steam

Few things are quite as satisfying as smashing objects together and reveling in the destruction, and the best sandbox simulation games are a great way to enjoy that without all the mess and loss of property caused by doing it in real life. Besiege, Wreckfest, and Teardown are fantastic, and I’ll always have a penchant for classics like Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction and Red Faction Guerrilla that let me rip giant buildings to shreds. Now, spiritual successor Instruments of Destruction has arrived in version 1.0, and offers some of the most delicious devastation going.

Star Citizen 3.23 is one of its most “game-changing” updates yet

The discussion around the best space games is an ever-changing one, with the launch of Homeworld 3 bringing it into competition alongside heavy hitters like Outer Wilds, Elite Dangerous, Stellaris, No Man’s Sky, Everspace 2, and Bethesda’s Starfield. Of them all, however, few can claim to be as ambitious - or notorious - as Star Citizen. The mammoth project from Roberts Space Industries continues to grow, and developer Cloud Imperium says that the new Star Citizen Alpha 3.23 update is “one of our most expansive and game-changing releases to date.”

After Diablo 4, it looks like a new Blizzard game is in the works

World of Warcraft. Diablo. StarCraft. Overwatch. Hearthstone. The response that Blizzard inspires from players might have shifted over the years, but it certainly still bears an incredible weight. Responsible for many of the best PC games of all time, the developer’s reach can be felt across the industry in both its own projects and those it has inspired. Now, not long past the cancellation of its mysterious survival game, it appears that a new Blizzard game is on the cards.

Duck Game “is safe,” indie dev confirms after Steam delisting fears

Duck Game “is safe,” indie dev confirms after Steam delisting fears

It might not be quite the size of Fortnite, CS2, or Helldivers 2, but Duck Game is nevertheless a multiplayer game with a very well-earned reputation. Boasting an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ 97% user score on Steam from almost 25,000 reviews, the indie game about ducks blasting each other with big guns has long been a fan favorite party game to play with friends. Now, after fears that it could disappear from sale amid publisher changes, solo developer Landon Podbielski confirms that Duck Game is “not going anywhere.”

Excellent Baldur’s Gate 3 style RPG gets new tavern building DLC

Excellent Baldur’s Gate 3 style RPG gets new tavern building DLC

The hole left after finishing Baldur’s Gate 3 can be tough to fill - my friends and I just this week wrapped up a near 100-hour campaign, and now we’re looking for the next RPG to take our attention. One worthy contender in that field is Wartales, the open-world, turn-based medieval strategy game from developer Shiro Games that sees you (and your friends, if you'd like) leading a band of mercenaries in search of adventure, fortune, and glory. Already boasting an impressive 91% Steam rating from over 21,000 reviews, a new DLC just dropped that transforms the epic into a management sim.

Nightingale update 0.2 makes big changes to the divisive survival game

Nightingale update 0.2 makes big changes to the divisive survival game

The gorgeous world and delightful gaslamp fantasy designs of Nightingale really caught my eye, but a rocky launch via Steam Early Access has left the survival game with mixed reviews, with Inflexion Games CEO Aaryn Flynn admitting he was “not satisfied” with the launch. The developer has just taken a first big step on the road to recovery, however, with the release of Nightingale update 0.2, which brings a pretty sizable count of upgrades to the table as the team works on offline mode and increased build limits.

Gorgeous new metroidvania launches first act prologue, free on Steam

As the wait for Hollow Knight Silksong continues unabated, there’s no shortage of excellent 2D action platform games to keep us busy on Steam. Following on from last year’s excellent Blasphemous 2 and the more recent Ultros, we’ve just this month seen the arrivals of more delightful indie games such as Saviorless and BioGun. The next mark on my Metroidvania calendar, however, is Akatori, a beautiful pixel art adventure with a very satisfying staff mechanic that’s already hooked me following the launch of its prequel chapter, out now as a free Steam demo.

Against the Storm 1.3 to bring big upgrades to 95% rated city builder

One of the best city builders in recent memory, Against the Storm has continued to build on its successful early access run, which lead up to its 1.0 Steam launch in December 2023. Boasting an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ 95% Steam review score from over 21,000 reviews and a firm favorite of the PCGamesN staff, Against the Storm is a beautiful roguelike strategy game that’s perfect if you fancy a break from the more traditional locales of Cities Skylines 2 and Manor Lords for something more fantastical.

No Rest for the Wicked patch notes address some of its top complaints

The first No Rest for the Wicked patch notes are here, following a troubled launch that has seen the new RPG game land to ‘mixed’ Steam reviews. The ambitious ARPG blending the perspective and loot of Diablo with Dark Souls and Elden Ring style stats and combat has been a long-awaited passion project from developer Moon Studios, best known for the fantastic pair of Ori games. Despite a mostly positive response to its setting and concept, early performance issues and balance concerns have troubled players, but the dev is already hard at work with its first post-launch update targeting some major complaints.

Joyful new indie game makes Diablo’s worst bit fun, out now on Steam

Joyful new indie game makes Diablo’s worst bit fun, out now on Steam

Ever since the early days of Diablo, inventory management has been one of those frustrating aspects of gaming that you just have to deal with. It’s been a constant for many years, through many RPGs including Fallout, Skyrim, and of course Baldur’s Gate 3. Resident Evil 4 was a high point, with its particular brand of briefcase Tetris, but now a delightful new indie game called Backpack Battles has turned the strife of sorting your stuff into a frantic multiplayer game in the style of TFT and Super Auto Pets, and it’s already blowing up on Steam at launch.

Operatic 4X space strategy game gets big upgrade and a huge discount

Alongside the might of Firaxis Games’ Civilization 6 and the vastness of Paradox Interactive’s Stellaris and Crusader Kings 3, the 4X games of Amplitude Studios have always had a special place in my heart for their more unique, romantic approach to the world of strategy games. While its “strategic space opera” Endless Space 2 has long been beloved by many, however, some of its DLC was anything but. Now, though, both the base game and its Awakening add-on have been given hefty upgrades, and you can get it all at a big discount in this Steam sale.

Nightingale CEO “not satisfied” with launch as player count plummets

Nightingale is one of the prettiest survival games I’ve seen, yet its launch via Steam Early Access has been met with a rather tepid response from players. Released just over two weeks ago on Tuesday February 20, the Nightingale player count has fallen to just over one fifth of its launch peak, while Steam reviews sit at a ‘mixed’ 61%. Inflexion Games CEO Aaryn Flynn says he is “not satisfied” with parts of the launch, saying, “there’s much more to do.”

This strategic space sim is a free Steam game, but not for long

From Starfield to No Man’s Sky and beyond, if you’re in the mood for an interstellar adventure, there’s no shortage of ways to do so. But while the grandiose machinations of Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen can be bold, the best space games are often those smaller-scale strategy games and roguelikes such as FTL and the upcoming Breachway. If that sounds up your alley, then Space Crew might be just what you’re after - we labeled it a “compact, confident, bite-sized roguelite” in our review, and now it’s yours as a free Steam game if you’re quick.

Hyper-fast multiplayer FPS Tribes 3 Rivals sets release date on Steam

I’m so thankful for Tribes 3 Rivals. Developer Prophecy Games has brought back the fastest multiplayer shooter on PC, eight years on from the final update to Tribes Ascend, and it’s already seen a positive reception, becoming the most played FPS game during the recent Steam Next Fest. Now, we have a release date for the official early access launch, and it’s surprisingly soon. Outpacing the likes of Call of Duty, Halo, and Counter-Strike 2, and even zooming past the high speeds of Titanfall 2 or classic Doom and Quake multiplayer, it’s time to get ready for Tribes 3 Rivals.
