Professor Layton development boss eyeing erotic and violent games

The CEO of Level-5 - the studio behind the family-friendly Professor Layton series, Snack World and Ni no Kuni - has said he hopes to one day make a darker game with more violence and eroticism.

Speaking with Denfaminicogamer in a joint interview with Grasshopper Manufacture's Goichi Suda, Level-5's Akihiro Hino said he admired "creators who can release such edgy titles into the world", calling them "amazing" (translated by automaton).

This is, of course, the kind of game Suda's studio is known for, with titles such as No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw to its name.

Yo-kai Watch Event Returns to Final Fantasy XIV Next Week

Final Fantasy XIV Yo-Kai Watch event

Final Fantasy XIV players will once again have a chance to earn unique weapons when the Yo-Kai Watch event returns on April 24, 2024. The event first appeared in 2016 and has been re-run several times since then.

Beginning the event requires players to have reached level 15 in a class and to have completed the "Envoy" quests that take you to the 3 major cities. After that, the event can be started by speaking to the "Poor-heeled Youth" in the Steps of Nald in Ul'dah. Equipping the Yo-Kai Watch will allow you to earn Yo-Kai medals by participating in FATE events in the areas surrounding the cities, or in any areas added in the Heavensward and Stormblood expansions.

Yo-Kai medals can then be exchanged with the Wandering Executive located in the central area of the Gold Saucer, accessible via airship, who will introduce you to various Yo-Kai. By meeting enough Yo-Kai, players will earn the ability to summon them as minions, as well as obtain the Whisper-go mount. Befriending all 17 will unlock the newly added framer's kit for purchase at the Gold Saucer.

The unique weapons can be earned with Legendary Yo-Kai medals, earned by completing specific FATEs with the relevant minion summoned. You can get a look at a few of the Final Fantasy XIV and Yo-kai Watch event weapons and minions available in the gallery below:
