Black Myth Wukong: Guangzhi: Yaoguai Chief Location & Fight – Guide

The fantasy world in Black Myth: Wukong is filled with merciless and treacherous foes including more than 80 bosses that players will encounter throughout the journey. Most boss encounters are faced simply by pushing along the main path but there are several hidden bosses as well that can offer useful skills and abilities.

One such hidden boss that players can encounter early in the game is Guangzhi, the first Yaoguai Chief who offers the first Transformation ability. This guide will help you find Guangzhi and provide essential tips to defeat him in Black Myth: Wukong.

Guangzhi: Yaoguai Chief Location in Black Myth: Wukong

Guangzhi is the first Yaoguai Chief boss that players can encounter in the Forest of Wolves area. As players reach the ‘Outside the Forest’ Keeper’s Shrine, the game will primarily turn them into a bee to get past several foes including another side boss, Wandering Wight who offers the first Spirit Skill. However, players can return to this area whenever they want and find Guangzhi in a hidden spot.

From the Outside of the Forest Keeper’s Shrine, follow the steps below to reach Guangzhi.

  • Head inside the forest and take the first path on the left beside a couple of foes.
  • Continue following the path to come across a chest on the next fork.
  • Go past the chest to the bridge ahead.
  • Follow the path ahead to enter an open area with Guangzhi.

Upon finding Guangzhi, a brief cutscene will play and the fight will initiate.

Tips & Tricks for Guangzhi Fight – Black Myth: Wukong

Guangzhi uses a staff with a dual ignited blade at its ends which deals Fire Damage on each hit. Getting hit by the attacks of Guangzhi will build up the fire on the character which inflicts him with Burnt State and deal damage over time. However, you can remove the Burnt State instantly by using the Body Cooling Powder.

Moreover, follow the tips below to easily defeat Guangzhi.

  • Avoid the initial combo of Guangzhi by dodging behind and then dodging in front to get behind him.
  • Unleash your light attack combo on Guangzhi, and as he is about to do one of his attacks, use the Immobilize spell to stop him. Continue punishing Guangzhi and then back away once the spell is broken.
  • If you see Guangzhi going in a charged stance, dodge on either the right or left side to avoid the incoming charged attack and then dodge again instantly to avoid a follow-up charged attack.
  • After dodging the attack, you can punish the boss a bit.
  • If you see Guangzhi spin backward, be ready to dodge as he will throw the staff in your direction.
  • After dodging the attack, push on to the boss and punish him with your low attack combo. Moreover, use the Immobilize spell again if charged to deal extensive damage.
  • In the late fight, Guangzhi will use the staff for a ground slam attack. Dodge the ground slams until he gets back on the ground to punish him.

Repeat the steps to deplete Guangzhi’s HP and defeat him.

Rewards for Defeating Guangzhi in Black Myth: Wukong

Defeating Guangzhi will reward you with 500+ Will and 1x Stone Spirit, and mainly with Red Tides (Spell), the first transformation ability of the game.

Similar to using spells, you can use the Red Tides spell to transform into Guangzhi and use his ignited staff weapon. The transformation will last until you run out of Stamina/Might.

Black Myth: Wukong – How to Absorb Wandering Wight’s Dropped Spirits

Black Myth: Wukong has over 80 bosses that players encounter throughout the journey and each boss is designed uniquely requiring players to learn and counter their attacks. Alongside the main boss encounters in the main journey pathway, players can also encounter side bosses hidden around the areas.

One of the initial side-bosses in the main journey is Wandering Wight found inside the Forest of Wolves. Although the encounter isn’t that difficult, the confusing thing is the absorption of its dropped Spirits. This guide will provide you with information on how to get the guidance to absorb Wandering Wight’s Spirits.

Wandering Wight Encounter in Black Myth: Wukong

Wandering Wight is a side boss in Black Myth: Wukong and the game will primarily tell you to fly by it in a bee form. As players reach the ‘Outside the Forest’ Keeper’s Shrine in the Forest of Wolves area, a cutscene will transform them into a bee. Now, you can obviously transform back to the primary state or come back to this location to encounter the Wandering Wight.

‘Cannot Absorb Spirits Without Guidance’, Solution

Upon encountering Wandering Wight and defeating it, it will drop purple Spirits on the ground. It will have a prompt to ‘take’ the Spirits, but it will not let you without ‘guidance’. Now, to get the guidance, you have to progress further into the main story and reach the Snake Trail Keeper’s Shrine in the Bamboo Grove area by defeating ‘Lingxuzi’.

Once there, head up the staircase and go to the right to initiate a cutscene. In the cutscene, an NPC will take your Gourd (Healing Flask) and bless it with Guidance. With the guidance blessing on your side, you can now absorb the spirits (of any enemy/boss that drops them).

After getting the guidance, the next step is to absorb the spirits you left behind. However, the Spirits will not be there so don’t waste your time traveling back to the Forest of Wolves. Instead, interact with the Keeper’s Shrine and you will see the ‘Retrieve Spirits’ option. Select the Retrieve Spirits option and then hold the respective key to retrieve all of the missed spirits.

How to Upgrade the Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong

Moreover, as you acquire a Spirit Skill, you can upgrade it at the Keeper’s Shrine. Interact with the Keeper’s Shrine and navigate to the Self-Advance option to see the ‘Cultivate Spirits’ option. Select the Cultivate Spirits option and it will show you the cost of Will required to upgrade the acquired Spirit Skill. Hold the respective key to upgrade the Spirit Skill.

Black Myth: Wukong – Best Tips & Tricks for Beginners

Black Myth: Wukong is an action-adventure RPG inspired by the Journey to the West novel. You take the role of a destined one to retrieve the lost relics and achieve your destiny. However, the fantasy world holds merciless and treacherous enemies that will try to hold you back throughout the journey.

Most players might consider Black Myth: Wukong as Soulslike due to a few similar elements but it offers a unique experience with various gameplay mechanics. Beginners should grasp certain mechanics early in the game to make the journey more soothing for themselves.

This guide will go over the major tips and tricks for early playthrough in Black Myth: Wukong.

Best Tips & Tricks for Beginners – Black Myth: Wukong

After the opening sequence of Black Myth: Wukong, you will start as an ordinary monkey warrior only with a Staff, primary weapon. The general progression in the game’s world is pretty straightforward as it offers a linear pathway most of the time. As you progress through the game’s main quest, you will learn and unlock more abilities and spells to assist you greatly in more tough challenges ahead.

Moreover, if you focus on the tips and tricks described below, you can develop a stronger character allowing you to take on the encounters with less stress.

1. Enhance Health & Stamina and Lower Cost of Stamina

The earliest crucial tip that we would like to share with you is to enhance your character’s maximum HP and Stamina. It is done by spending your Sparks (Skill Points) in the Survival Skill Tree under the Foundation tab of Self-Advance. Get the Robust Constitution and Rampant Vigor to increase the maximum HP and Stamina of the character.

NOTE: There are other ways to enhance the maximum HP and Stamina in the game which will you discover as you progress through the story.

Alongside increasing the crucial stats of the character, the next tip is to lower the cost of stamina by dodging and running. It can be done by spending Sparks in the Stamina Skill Tree also under the Foundation tab. The first two skills in the Stamina Skill Tree will offer the reduction in Stamina cost upon sprinting and dodging. Get both of these as soon as possible because you will be dodging a lot during encounters.

Running out of Stamina will leave your character open for any incoming attacks.

2. Enhance Immobilize Power

Not far into the first chapter of the story, you will be handed a spell called Immobilize used for stopping the enemies. The enemies will stop in their attacks instantly for a short period allowing you to deal damage to them. However, you can improve this useful spell by spending the Sparks in the Immobilize Skill Tree under the Mysticism tab.

Various skills will enhance the period of the spell and damage taken by the foes while immobilized. Make the use of Immobilize spell frequently in your encounters to get a breather and the advantage of dealing extensive damage to foes.

3. Unlock More Staff Stances

Black Myth: Wukong offers multiple staff stances that make the combat experience more versatile. However, you start with only one Staff Stance, Smash Stance, and as you level up in the game, you will be introduced to other stances that not only diversify the combat experience but also grant you certain movement advantages for avoiding specific attacks.

For instance, the AOE attacks can be challenging to avoid in the early game but as you unlock the Pillar Stance (Level 5), it will be much easier for you to avoid them. Moreover, the Staff Stances also have their own Skill Trees in the Self-Advance menu where you can spend Sparks to enhance your favorite combat style.

4. Don’t Forget to Respec

With a variety of multiple Skill Trees spread across various mechanics, it is normal for you to grab a skill that isn’t quite necessary for you at the moment. In such cases, you can respec your skills at any Keeper’s Shrine. Interact with the shrine and navigate to the Self-Advance to find the respec option. Moreover, it will not cost you anything for resetting your skills.

5. Craft Armor for Benefits

While progressing through the different areas of the world, you will come across a variety of materials. Initially, you might confuse them for consumables but the materials are used for crafting armor pieces. Armor pieces can offer various benefits along with defense stats. Although several bosses will drop a certain armor piece upon defeat that you can wear, it is also crucial to see which armor you can craft at the Keeper’s Shrine.

6. Sell Pieces of Gold & Find Green Mist to Earn More Will

Will is the primary currency in Black Myth: Wukong which is used for purchasing items from various vendors across the world and crafting armor at the Keeper’s Shrine. You will usually get Will by defeating the enemies you encounter, but you can also earn Will by selling Pieces of Gold or picking up Green Mists.

The Pieces of Gold are usually found inside the chests scattered throughout the world and you can sell them at any vendor or at the Keeper’s Shrine. While exploring and traversing through the world, you will find Green Mists on alternative paths around the main path. Pick them up to gain a decent amount of Will.

7. Defeat Wandering Wight & Guangzhi Early

As you start progressing through the earlier areas of the game, you will witness a cutscene at the Forest of Wolves where you will be transformed into a bee to pass through multiple enemies. This certain area holds two important side bosses, each one for unlocking a unique ability.

If you come back to this path as a monkey, you will encounter the Wandering Wight, a giant enemy. Defeat this enemy to witness the dropped purple Spirits. You can pick up these Spirits to unlock a Spirit Skill that will allow you to headbutt the enemies and stun them.

NOTE: In order to absorb the spirits, you must first reach Snake Trail Keeper’s Shrine in the Bamboo Grove area. There, you will meet with an NPC who will grant your gourd with Guidance, allowing you to absorb any dropped spirits by enemies/bosses.

Moreover, if you venture to the left of this area, you will discover a path leading to an open area where you will encounter Guangzhi, the first Yaoguai Chief. Defeat this monkey boss to get yourself the first transformation ability.

Bonus Tip

Apart from these crucial tips and tricks mentioned above, another great tip is to use the Gourd (Healing Flask) necessarily instead of fully. The Gourd has a limited use (4 initially) and can only be replenished by resting at the Keeper’s Shrine.

DREDGE: The Iron Rig – How to Catch All Strange Specimens of Devil’s Spine

The story content of DREDGE: The Iron Rig revolves around finding the new strange specimens in all the regions whose waters get contaminated with oil as the story progresses. Upon bringing the strange specimens of Twisted Strand (the fourth contaminated area) to the Scientist, the contamination will spread to the final region, Devil’s Spine, requiring you to bring more strange specimens.

This guide will help you get all strange specimens of Devil’s Spine in DREDGE: The Iron Rig.

How to Catch All Strange Specimens of Devil’s Spine in DREDGE: The Iron Rig

The Strange Specimens of Devil’s Spine are of Volcanic and Hadal kinds only one of which can be caught using the Infused Hoist, but for the Volcanic kind, you have to craft a new rod called Infused Fireproof Rod. Crafting the Infused Fireproof Rod will require the following materials and a $200 cost.

NOTE: The Ironhaven Crate is found at the missing ship locations marked on the map. The Dark Canister is caught by sailing over the contaminated areas while Siphon Trawler is equipped. Lastly, the Heat-Resistant Line can be purchased from the Undermarket facility at the Iron Rig.

After crafting the Infused Fireproof Rod, equip it along with Infused Hoist and set sail to the Devil’s Spine to find and catch the strange specimens.

Where to Find the Strange Specimens of Devil’s Spine in DREDGE: The Iron Rig

All the strange specimens are found in the contaminated waters of Devil’s Spine so, look for any fish bubbles under the oil. The spawn location of every specimen is mentioned in the list below.

  • Giant Dragonfish – A Hadal (type) fish found at the N-14 coordinates.
  • Vetulicolia – A Volcanic (type) fish found also at the Q-12 coordinates.
  • Dunkleosteus – A Volcanic (type) fish also found at the Q-12 coordinates.
  • Sea Scorpion – it is an Infused Crab that can be found at the P-14 coordinates. Leave a Crab Pot at the location and pick it up after some time to get the Sea Scorpion.

Once you have obtained all the Specimens, the only thing left to do is to deliver them to the scientist and complete the fifth and final part of the Strange Specimens, the main pursuit.

Moreover, you will witness the Scientist turning into a contaminated creature, jumping out of the window, and disappearing into the Deep.

DREDGE: The Iron Rig – How to Complete Sabotage, Main Pursuit

The Sabotage is a main pursuit in The Iron Rig expansion of DREDGE that players will initiate after delivering all strange specimens of Twisted Strand. Doing so will make the Executive force the Foreman to start the drill, disturbing the creature below. The Foreman asks for your help to reason with the Executive.

This guide will walk you through the Sabotage pursuit in DREDGE: The Iron Rig.

How to Complete the Sabotage (Main Pursuit) in DREDGE: The Iron Rig

Check the Defenses Facility

As the Sabotage pursuit begins, the first objective is to check the Defenses facility. Select the first option to open one of the electrical panels to find a black box. However, you can’t do anything with it due to a lack of knowledge and the game will tell you to visit the Researcher, the Scientist’s student.

Meet the Researcher

Leave the Iron Rig and set sail to the Old Fortress location in the Stellar Basin region. Dock at the Old Fortress to meet with the Researcher and select the “About those defenses on the rig…” > “The workers on the rig want to find a way to sabotage them,” dialogues. Doing so will give you the blueprints for sabotaging the defenses to attract the creatures to the Rig.

Install a New Module to the Defense System

The next step is to install a new module ‘Rise’ to the defense system on the Iron Rig, but it will require a Dark Canister and an Ironhaven Crate. Luckily, you can get both of these materials on your way to the Iron Rig. Make sure to grab them and then return to the Iron Rig.

Dock at the Rig and select the ‘Defenses’ facility to install the module by delivering both of the materials. It will attract back the tentacle creature damaging the base of the rig. However, another creature will appear and attack the tentacle creature before it does any further damage to the rig.

As the cutscene ends, the Executive will run away from the rig and the pursuit will be resolved.

Sword of Convallaria: How to Change Your Appearance

Sword of Convallaria is a Tactical RPG where you take the role of a leader of the mercenary group and strategize to save the nation of Iria. As players begin the adventure, they will get to select the appearance of Voyager (the main protagonist) either male or female. However, the game doesn’t keep players from changing the appearance of Voyager as it can be changed once players have reached Elysium.

This guide will help you change your appearance in Sword of Convallaria.

How to Change Your Appearance in Sword of Convallaria

The appearance options for the main protagonist (Voyager) are only two including male or female. At the start of the adventure, once you have made the primary appearance choice, you will get to play as it is for the tutorial (The Rift). Upon completing the tutorial and reaching the hub Elysium, you will be free to change the appearance but it will cost you 50 Hope Luxites.

To change the appearance of Voyager, select the profile icon on the top left corner of the screen, and then navigate to edit by selecting the icon with a pencil in it. It will give you the options for changing Nickname, Décor, and Appearance. Select the appearance option and then select the male or female appearance for the character. Once done, confirm the change for 50 Hope Luxites and your Voyager appearance will be changed.

Moreover, you can change the appearance at any time but each time it will cost you 50 Hope Luxites which aren’t easy to come by. Hope Luxites is a currency used for various other purposes with Secret Fates being the top ones as they are used for summoning heroes and weapons.

Should You Change the Appearance of Voyager in Sword of Convallaria?

Changing the appearance of Voyager doesn’t change anything in terms of gameplay, abilities, skills, etc. As Voyager only comes to certain main story missions, you will only witness the physical appearance change while playing with it or at the Elysium. Other than that, it is useless to change the appearance and it is best to save as many Hope Luxites as possible because the end-game missions require a party of stronger heroes which can only be formulated by rolling legendary heroes.

Sword of Convallaria: How to Get Weapons & Gear Items

Strengthening your characters/heroes is essential for completing the higher-level missions in Sword of Convallaria, but it cannot be simply achieved by increasing your Voyager Level and leveling up the characters/heroes individually. Additionally, you will be required to get your characters some powerful weapons and gear items to grant a significant boost to their stats.

This guide will help you get the weapons and gear items for the characters in Sword of Convallaria.

How to Get Weapons & Gear Items in Sword of Convallaria

Players will obtain weapons and gear items (trinkets and tarot whispers) by progressing in the main story. Upon completing certain main missions in the story, the first-time rewards will offer various gear items. However, most of the awarded gear from the story is only viable until mid-game as the most effective weapons and gear items are attained from rolling the Mighty Weapons banner in the Summon Menu.

To get your hands on the legendary weapons and gear items, roll the Mighty Weapons banner using the Secret Fate currency. It is the same currency used for pulling the Heroes/Characters. Head over to the Summon Menu and scroll down to find the Mighty Weapons event. Select it and summon it to have a chance of getting a legendary weapon/gear item.

However, similar to the heroes, the probability of higher-grade weapons and gear items is lower.

  • Legendary weapon – 5% probability
  • Epic weapon – 50% probability
  • Rare weapon – 25% probability
  • Common weapon – 20% probability

Moreover, you will also see a guaranteed summon after a few roles revealing that you can get a legendary weapon/gear item on a certain amount of summons. In such case, you must have a required amount of Secret Fates as each summons costs 1 Secret Fate.

Sword of Convallaria: How to Get Hope Luxites

Hope Luxites is a primary currency in Sword of Convallaria that is used for purchasing various items in the shop and recovering stamina for a longer playthrough for the day. However, despite it being the primary currency, you will often find it being low at your disposal. The main use of Hope Luxites is to exchange them for Secret Fates to pull heroes and weapons from the Summon Menu but each Secret Fate costs 150 Hope Luxites.

This guide will help you how to get Hope Luxites in Sword of Convallaria.

How to Get Hope Luxites in Sword of Convallaria

Hope Luxites currency is usually obtained by playing the game as several first-time rewards from completing the missions give Hope Luxites. Moreover, various features of the game offer Hope Luxites which can be overlooked by the new players. We have listed down all the methods from which you can obtain Hope Luxites in Sword of Convallaria.

  • Complete Main Story Missions: First and foremost, the best method to get Hope Luxites is by completing the main story missions. The first-time completion of every main mission will reward players with Hope Luxites.
  • Complete Quests: Alongside the main story missions, players will also complete the quests. However, the quests’ rewards must be acquired from the ‘Achieved’ section within the Quest Log menu.
  • Complete Crossing World Stages: Initiate the stages from any Crossing World level and complete them for the first time to get Hope Luxites.
  • Cornucopia: Apart from the main missions and quests, completing the seasonal quests will increase the rank of Cornucopia/season pass. Head to Cornucopia to claim the rewards from the unlocked tiers (free and premium).
  • Complete Events: Completing the events is another great way to secure yourself some Hope Luxites. Head into the Events tab to start completing those who offer Hope Luxites.
  • Compete Against Other Players: Face off other players in the Clash mode and perform well against them to earn Hope Luxites.
  • Purchase from Shop: Head into the in-game shop and purchase Hope Luxites with real money.
  • Mail Rewards: Check mail every day to have a chance of receiving some free Hope Luxites from the Devs.
  • Redeem Code: Currently, there is only one redeemable code that offers Hope Luxites as a reward, ‘SOC20KDC’ – 150 Hope Luxites.

NOTE: The redeemable code for Hope Luxites expires on August 16, 2024.

Moreover, new codes are added to Sword of Convallaria every month, so be on the lookout for any new code offering Hope Luxites before they expire.

Sword of Convallaria: How to Get & Use Secret Fate

Secret Fate is an essential currency used for summoning the characters/heroes and weapons in Sword of Convallaria. As pulling your free heroes and weapons plays a crucial role in your early playthrough, getting your hands on as many Secret Fates as possible will help you greatly. Moreover, building a team of high-rarity heroes is recommended in the end-game missions so formulating a team early and leveling them up will make things a lot easier for you.

This guide will help you get Secret Fate and highlight the method of how to use it in Sword of Convallaria.

How to Get Secret Fates in Sword of Convallaria

Players can earn Secret Fates through three different methods in Sword of Convallaria. It is a rare currency and awarded fairly in low amounts, but players who are comfortable with spending real money can get it at any time which is the first method of getting Secret Fates.

1. Spend Real Money in the in-game Shop

Secret Fate currency can be bought from the in-game shop using Hope Luxites. As Hope Luxites is more of a primary currency in Sword of Convallaria, you can exchange it in the ‘Exchange’ tab of the in-game shop for Secret Fate. 1 Secret Fate is equivalent to 150 Hope Luxites and you can purchase Hope Luxites in bundles from the shop.

However, apart from purchasing Hope Luxites, you can also achieve it through generic gameplay such as:

  • Completing Story Missions
  • Completing Crossing Worlds Stages
  • Completing Events
  • Reward from Cornucopia/Season Pass
  • Reward from Daily log-in
  • Performing well against other players in Clash mode

2. Complete Promise of Secret Fates Event

Now, for the free method, players can earn Secret Fates by participating and completing the Promise of Secret Fates event. Currently, this is the only event that is offering Secret Fates as a reward for each level milestone. The event contains three level milestones.

  • Reach Voyager Level 10
  • Reach Voyager Level 20
  • Reach Voyager Level 30

For each milestone, it gives 10x Secret Fate as a reward.

3. Check Mail for Any Free Secret Fates

Lastly, another free method through which players can get Secret Fates is by checking the in-game mail. Developers usually send out various rewards to all the players and it is possible that you might receive a few Secret Fates in your mail.

Moreover, you can also redeem codes to get various rewards in your mail, but currently, there are no codes that contain Secret Fates as a reward.

How to Use Secret Fates in Sword of Convallaria

The Secret Fates are used in the Summon Menu located at the bottom of the screen while at in Elysium. In the Summon Menu, you will see different events on the left side from where you will be pulling the heroes and weapons using the Secret Fates. Now, each event has a different probability of pulling a legendary hero or weapon so you will be spending quite a lot of Secret Fates before you get one.

Moreover, some of the events will also show you a guaranteed pull within a certain number of pulls. For instance, you will see Gloria’s guaranteed pull within 20 pulls. It means you have to spend 20 Secret Fates on the corresponding event to get a guaranteed Gloria pull.
