In news unlikely to surprise you, the video has already been removed from YouTube (although you can still find copies of it if you're prepared to go looking), but eagle-eyed fans nonetheless managed to get a peek at the main hub, as well as a sneaky glimpse at some of the bots we can expect.
If you'd prefer to keep everything a surprise, head back to the main page now. For those excited and happy for a little head's up, read on…

Astro’s Playroom August 2024 update has gone live, bringing with it special bot #3. Players have to find a total of four special bots in the lead up to the release of Astro Bot. Doing so will pop five additional trophies in Astro’s Playroom, with players being able to carry the bots over to Astro Bot on September 6.
How to unlock Astro’s Playroom special bot 3 (August 2, 2024 update)
Two of the four special bots in Astro’s Playroom have already been found. The first one is Hunter from Bloodborne, and can be found in GPU Jungle’s first stage, Renderforest (note: players need to complete 1994 Throwback first). The second special bot is Selene from Returnal, who can be found in the Deep Dataspace section of the SSD Speedway.
The third bot, which is out today, is related to Gran Turismo and can be found in Cooling Springs. Rescuing the bot, which is trapped on the beach, will net players the Grand tourist trophy. As for how to find the bot, here’s the solution courtesy of PSNProfiles user Computer_Cat:
PlayStation has today unveiled a new DualSense controller, inspired by upcoming PS5 release Astro Bot.
The controller itself boasts all the features you would expect from a DualSense, such as adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. These will all come into play when Astro Bot releases later this year (although, with more textures to feel through the controller than with Astro's Playroom). So far, so normal.
Things get a little more exciting when you get to the cosmetic side of things, however. The upcoming controller has Astro's blue accents on the handles and buttons, some sci-fi style grooves and - the most eye-catching feature in every sense - Astro's "trademark playful pair of eyes" on the DualSense's touchpad.
An uncut eight-minute video of Astro Bot has popped up online.
The footage – recorded at ChinaJoy2024 – shows off the game's combat and platforming premise, as well as a delightful boss battle with an octopus in scuba gear (nope, I don't understand, either) and boxing gloves.
You can see the action for yourself in the video below:

Hi everyone! It’s a pleasure to be back here to make another Astro Bot-related reveal.
If you have been following Astro news as of late, then you know Team Asobi have been hard at work on a brand-new game coming out on September 6. The game features over 50 planets, new powerups, lots of enemies, secrets and PlayStation-infused characters to collect. And it also features a DualSense wireless controller turned into a living character and helping Astro on his mission.
Today, it is an immense pleasure to announce that you will be able to charge into Astro’s new supersized adventure along with the cool new DualSense wireless controller – Astro Bot Limited Edition.
We know many of you were hoping for this after seeing the game trailer. So, we quickly asked our lovely bots to engineer this beauty and tada! No, no, I’m just kidding; it had been in the making for some time, carefully crafted by the amazing teams at SIE. And what splendid work they did.
The controller’s design features Astro’s signature blue accents on the handles and buttons, carved-in, sci-fi lines as well as the trademark playful pair of eyes on the touch pad. It is a true work of art, and we could not be happier with the end-result at Team Asobi.
With this dynamic addition to your set-up, a supersized space adventure awaits…
The DualSense wireless controller – Astro Bot Limited Edition will be available in limited quantity in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam for SGD 114 / MYR 399 / IDR 1,449,000 / THB 2,690 / PHP 4,590 / VND 2,299,000 and will launch on September 6, day-in-date with the launch of Astro Bot
Pre-orders will be available through local retailers starting from Friday, August 9, 2024.
I will take this chance to summarize some of the cool things this new Astro Bot game does with the DualSense wireless controller
First, as many of you expect from an Astro game, you can feel the surfaces that Astro runs and slides on, from grass, sand, metal to more squishy textures or water. That was already the case with Astro’s Playroom, but we have increased the number of textures you can feel through the controller.
Next, we doubled down on the adaptive triggers combined with haptic feedback, by tying them tightly to Astro’s new powers. For example, when using Barkster, the bulldog Jetpack, you can feel the thruster ratting against your finger in synch with the animation, giving a very dynamic and immersive feeling. Every new power up has been given that same special treatment so you will be able to experience various expressions through your fingers.
Finally, given the number of enemies and boss battles we added to this new adventure, it was important to work on battle and impacts by combining all of the above. Whether it’s stretching, pounding or pummeling hard surfaces, there are many new types of impacts that can be experienced in Astro Bot.
And of course, we could not finish this post without mentioning the Dual Speeder, one of Astro’s most recurrent gadgets, allowing him to fly into various planets. The Dual Speeder makes full use of motion control, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Here is a piece of very early concept art and how it looks in the final game.
That’s all from us! We’ll be back soon for more news around Astro Bot. Until then, please tell us in the comments what you think of this cool DualSense wireless controller – Astro Bot Limited Edition!
Astro Bot is out on PS5 on September 6, we are waiting for you all to join Astro for his first big new adventure.

With a full-blown Astro Bot platformer on the way, Sony’s Team Asobi has revisited its PS5 launch game, Astro’s Playroom, to add some exciting new teases for what’s to come. Most notable are the addition of four new Special Bots hidden in each of the game’s core worlds. If you’re looking to round up the Bloodborne…
PlayStation has laid out the various editions of Astro Bot on PlayStation 5, and who do we have popping up? Why, it is only Bloodborne's Hunter!
If players opt to purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition of the recently announced Astro Bot, they will be able to get their hands on Astro's Yharnam Tourist outfit as an "early" unlock. This outfit bedecks PlayStation's adorable little mascot in the Hunter's garb and hat. Doesn't he look smart?
Pre-orders will also come with early access to the PaRappa Lovestruck Lyricist costume and Glorious Graffiti DualSense Speeder skin.
I should have learned to not get my hopes up by now but, as a huge fan of Sony's PSVR2, it's hard not to get excited when a State of Play featuring new PSVR2 games is announced. Now, I'm not naive enough to believe that Half Life: Alyx is ever going to come to the headset (even though I desperately want it to) but, when one of my favourite VR games ever is the PSVR1 exclusive, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, I think it's fair to hold out hope for an Astro Bot Rescue Mission 2 for the PSVR2. (I mean, I'd even take backwards compatibility for the original Astro Bot Rescue Mission at this point!)
That's why yesterday's announcement of Astro Bot was so bittersweet for me. Like everyone, I'm pumped for a new Astro Bot game, they're such joyful, heart-warming and uplifting games - and on top of that this new one looks a bit like a StarFox x Mario Mash-up. "How can that not be a Game of the Year contender?!" I thought, as I watched the reveal. But then, as the trailer passed the one minute mark without showing footage of anything that looked like VR gameplay, my heart started to sink. That sunken heart then broke completely in two when, at the very end of the trailer, big bold words saying "COMING TO PS5" appeared. So no PSVR2 support at all?! For a character that technically only became big thanks to Astro Bot Rescue Mission on PSVR1? What gives?
To add extra salt to the wound, as I was scouring the trailer for potential PSVR2 clues (just in case, you never know, etc...), I noticed that there is a bit in the trailer during the casino world section, where Astro Bot is wearing a VR headset. The only trouble is... IT'S A PSVR1! Sorry for shouting there - but, come on. How can Sony and PlayStation expect its fan base to stay excited about the future of the PSVR2 if its main mascot won't even wear one?
Sony's PlayStation State of Play May Showcase 2024 may have been announced at short notice, but packed within its 35-minute presentation we got a look at a whole host of brand-new PS5 games coming in 2024 and beyond. There were also two new PSVR2 games announced here, as well as the surprise return of one of PlayStation's most beloved mascots, Astro Bot.
Whether you missed the showcase or just want a handy round-up of all the trailers again, here's everything that was announced in Sony's State of Play May Showcase.
First up, we got a long-awaited look at Concord, Firewalk's upcoming PvP shooter, both in the form of a cinematic vignette and a proper gameplay trailer (embedded below). Big Guardians of the Galaxy energy, this one. Lots of big guns, lots of colourful moons and planets, and a very chatty cast. Could this be the perfect second course after Helldivers earlier this year? We'll find out when it launches on PS5 and PC on August 23rd 2024.
PlayStation revealed a new Astro Bot game at the end of its May State of Play showcase, and it looks just as delightful as its predecessor. One of the best surprises from Sony’s State of Play presentation today was the announcement of a new Astro Bot game. Astro’s Playroom, the pack-in game installed on PlayStation 5s in 2020, was a delightful platformer that paid tribute to PlayStation’s history, showed off the tech of the DualSense controller, and was a…
Většina informací z nedávného State of Play unikla ještě před jeho premiérou, včetně toho, co mnozí považují za hlavní oznámení.
Společnost Sony a vývojářské studio Team Asobi oznámily hru Astro Bot, první plnohodnotnou konzolovou plošinovku této fanoušky oblíbené IP. Hra bude obsahovat více než 50 „vzrušujících a rozmanitých“ světů a podle všeho i spoustu rozmanitých herních příležitostí.
V oznamovacím traileru je k vidění spousta hratelných scén z několika různých světů, které ukazují záběry z plošinovek, několik bossů, létajících sekcí a v pravém stylu Astro Bota i řadu easter eggů na oblíbené tituly pro PlayStation, jako jsou God of War, Uncharted, PaRappa the Rapper, Shadow of the Colossus a další. Níže se podívejte na trailer.
Hra Astro Bot vychází pro systém PS5 6. září. Předobjednávky hry budou spuštěny 7. června.
May 2024’s PlayStation State of Play unveiled Astro Bot, a new platformer starring PlayStation mascot Astro Bot. The game will see the intrepid bot travelling through a variety of worlds, and coming across bot versions of plenty of beloved characters from PlayStation titles of years gone by. Here’s every cameo we could make out in the trailer, ranked by how adorable they are.
Honorable Mentions: Aloy, Spike, and Atreus
Where we know them from: Horizon, Ape Escape, and God of War
