Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live(blog): Dune Awakening launches on PC early next year
Overwatch 2 outlines Season 12’s rank reset, wave respawn, and new drive event coming to competitive play
Overwatch 2 and WoW are finally together in our dream collaboration
Overwatch 2 hasn't had nearly the impact of its predecessor so far, but that doesn't mean its creators have given up on it. In the years since its launch, Blizzard Entertainment has continued to work on the online shooter, attempting to make it a serious competitor in a genre currently dominated by games like Valorant, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege. With the launch of World of Warcraft's The War Within expansion in just a few days, the enormously popular MMORPG's 20th anniversary fast approaching, and Warcraft in general coming up on 30 years since its first game, Blizzard is planning to combine two of its most popular series with a special skin.
Overwatch 2 Fans Are Tired Of Blizzard Playing Favorites
Overwatch 2 has a lot of heroes on its roster. With Juno, the Martian support character joining the game in season 12, the hero shooter now has 41 different heroes for players to choose from. Spreading the love equally between all of them as far as skins and other cosmetics go is a tall order, one that would be…

Overwatch 2 Announces the Potential Return of 6v6 Matches
In a surprising announcement from Blizzard Entertainment, it seems as though the team behind Overwatch 2 is experimenting with and looking into ways to finally bring 6v6 match types back to the game.
The news has been met with resounding positivity from fans of the game, but according to the game’s director, Aaron Keller, could pose some complications.
The Shift Back To 12-Player Matches Would Be a Big Change For Overwatch 2
In a Director’s Take Blog written by Aaron Keller, the game director goes into details on the sudden idea to explore the potential for bringing a 6v6 game mode back to Overwatch. While the team’s primary focus is balancing the game’s 5v5 mode, Keller added that they’re, “…looking at running a series of events to try out different core team composition formats in Overwatch 2.” which includes testing out 6v6.
He also stated that the urge to explore this option comes from community feedback: “The community has, juuuust once or twice, suggested a test… Why not put various forms of 6v6 in the game in order to gauge the results? We agree, and based on your feedback, we’re exploring how we can test different forms of 6v6 in the game to gauge the results.”
While there is no confirmation on a potential 6v6 game mode becoming a core part of the game any time soon, just the idea of returning to Overwatch‘s original format has made a lot of players excited, especially now that the game is more widely available than ever before. With the release of Juno right around the corner, it seems the Overwatch team is finally earning a positive relationship with their audience.
Overwatch 2 Character Release Order
There’s a lot that you can tell about Overwatch by its hero release order. Not only does it trace the growth of the game, but it also mirrors the evolution of strategies and playstyles.
Overwatch 2 continues the legacy of its predecessor, “Overwatch 1”, by maintaining the original roster and expanding it with new additions. The game is constantly evolving, with new Heroes joining the ranks regularly.

Blizzard seems set on releasing a steady roster of new heroes to help keep the game fresh. It’s hard to complain; Overwatch isn’t the competitive, acclaimed FPS that it used to be. Now, most of its playerbase is looking for ways to invent fun team comps and having a good time with their friends.
Don’t get me wrong, the game needs balance, and the characters should be fun without being broken. But, it’s gonna be a while before Overwatch 2 gets back to where the franchise once stood, if it ever gets as popular as the original. It’s hard to tell if the devs can keep the characters diverse in terms of mechanics, but they’ sure’ve hit the mark with recent support heroes like Illari and Lifeweaver that challenge the game’s norms and elevate the FPS title’s skill ceiling.
What Order Do You Unlock Overwatch Characters?
You can unlock characters, including some of the new heroes released after Overwatch 2, in a specific order that’ is’s not tied to the hero release order of the first game. The characters will be unlocked as you’re playing the game. The more you play, the more heroes you unlock. However, some Overwatch 2 characters can only be unlocked by completing a special challenge or buying them from the shop.
Hero | Number of Games |
---|---|
Genji | 1 |
D.Va | 2 |
Cassidy | 3 |
Ana | 4 |
Hanzo | 9 |
Junkrat | 12 |
Roadhog | 15 |
Symmetra | 20 |
Zenyatta | 25 |
Bastion | 30 |
Sigma | 40 |
Ashe | 50 |
Brigitte | 60 |
Mei | 70 |
Doomfist | 85 |
Baptiste | 100 |
Sombra | 115 |
Wrecking Ball | 130 |
Echo | 150 |
I find this an effective strategy to keep players invested in the game. The process of unlocking each character doesn’t take long, providing players with constant goals. By the time all characters are unlocked, players are likely to have developed a liking for the game and continue playing. This approach helps Blizzard expand the game’s player base, even if it’s temporary, thereby enhancing the experience for dedicated players.
Overwatch Announces New Hero ‘Juno’ – Available To Play For Free This Coming Weekend
Overwatch has officially announced the latest hero coming to the Overwatch 2 roster – and she’s way cuter than a ybody could have anticipated.
The support hero, officially dubbed Juno, is coming to the game soon, and for a limited time players will be able to try out the new support hero for free.
Everything We Know About Juno the Space Ranger
In addition to being voiced by Xanthe Huynh of Persona fame, in the official release trailer showing off the new support hero, players got a chance to check out Juno’s abilities.
The hero’s kit is filled with fun new abilities that compliment her space ranger-persona, including being able to use her primary fire to heal allies while dealing damage, a secondary fire that that can lock on to fire homing projectiles that heal allies and do damage, and an ultimate that calls down a ray to heal her allies and provide a damage buff.
Juno’s other abilities include Glide Boost, which allows her to glide horizontally, increasing her movement speed; Hyper Ring, that deploys a ring increasing the movement speed of her allies; and Martian Overboots – a super fun looking passive that gives Juno the ability to glide and hover while airborne.
The limited time trial to check out the hero for free will be taking place from July 19 to July 21, 2024.
Blizzard has reportedly set up a "smaller" team to create AA games based on its franchises
Activision and Microsoft have reportedly approved the creation of a new "smaller" team within Blizzard Entertainment - mostly comprised of employees from Activision's mobile-focused King division - to develop new "AA" games based on existing Blizzard properties.
That's according to Windows Central's Jez Corden, whose sources say the new initiative reflects an eagerness at Microsoft to "explore and experiment" with smaller teams within the larger organisation, in response to the "monstrously ballooning costs" of AAA game development.
Corden notes Microsoft has seen success with the likes of Sea of Thieves and Grounded, both built by comparatively small teams - and, of course, 2023's Hi-Fi Rush, created by a small team within Tango Gameworks, was heralded as a "break out hit" by Microsoft after its release.

Dalším hrdinou Overwatch 2 je Juno, dorazí 20. srpna
Nejnovější podpora pro hrdinskou střílečku dokáže zrychlit spojence, plachtit vzduchem a vyvolat orbitální paprsek pro zvýšení poškození.
Společnost Blizzard Entertainment odhalila dalšího podpůrného hrdinu do hry Overwatch 2 – Juno, dříve kódově označovanou jako Space Ranger. Využívá Mediblaster, který dokáže léčit spojence a poškozovat nepřátele dávkovou palbou, a bude k dispozici 20. srpna v rámci 12. sezóny.
Hyper Ring zvyšuje rychlost spojenců, kteří jím projdou, zatímco Orbitální paprsek, její ultimátka, zvyšuje poškození proti nepřátelům a obnovuje zdraví přátelům. Kromě toho všeho může Juno také využít funkci Glide Boost, díky níž se dostane do vzduchu a pomalu klesá.
12. sezóna by také měla obsahovat nový Premium Battle Pass a Mythic Skin, potenciální příchod nového základního režimu Clash a další novinky. Zůstaňte naladěni na další podrobnosti.

Overwatch 2 may get 6v6 again as Blizzard try to bring back the "chaotic, over-the-top" variety of the first game
Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller has posted a lengthy blog on Steam about the transition from 6v6 player matches in the first Overwatch to 5v5 in the poorly received free-to-play sequel. It's a juicy read for armchair designers and lapsed Overwatchers like myself, packing in analysis of class roles and the shift from the free choice of heroes to single hero picks and enforced team compositions.
In broad strokes, Keller summarises how the Overwatch experience has drifted away from "player freedom and creativity in order to create a more balanced, consistent and competitive experience for players". It's possible, however, that Overwatch 2 will swing back in the other direction, as Blizzard are now "exploring how we can test different forms of 6v6 in the game to gauge the results", with a view to restoring some of the joyful chaos that saw entire teams of Reinhardts charging the objective in formation.

Reinhardt Mains Just Got Their First Overwatch 2 Win In A Hot Minute
To a lot of people, Reinhardt is still the quintessential tank character in Overwatch 2. The shield-bearing, hammer-swinging old man is one of the original 21 heroes, has some of the most straightforward and comprehensible utility of any character on the roster, and he’s overall just a fun character to have in your…
Five of the Best: Dashes
Five of the Best is a weekly series for supporters of Eurogamer. It's a series that highlights some of the features in games that are often overlooked. It's also about having your say, so don't be shy, use the comments below and join in!
Oh and if you want to read more, you can - you can find our entire Five of the Best archive elsewhere on the site.
Which was the first game to have a dash move in it? The earliest I can think of is the Mega Man series. But was that a slide or a dash? Because although they serve similar functions, I think they're distinct things. It's tricky! Today of course, dashes are synonymous with action games, and even other kinds of games, and it's probably more common to play games with them than without them. Dashes have become a fundamental part of our gaming lexicon. But the question is, which dashes have been the most memorable - which dashes are the best?
Overwatch PvE mode dropped after just three months
Blizzard is removing the Hero Mastery Gauntles PvE mode from Overwatch three months after it launched as "it hasn't resonated with players".
The mode will no longer be available to play from Season 11 on 18th June, after it launched in March this year.
Players therefore have until then, during Season 10, to complete the Lifetime Challenges for the mode and compete on its Top 500 leaderboards.
New Xbox Feature Could Save Players Loads Of Time
Modern games get patched all the time, and there are few things more low-key annoying than sitting down to dig into a meaty RPG or hop into a quick deathmatch only to see you’ve got to download an 8GB update. You start scrolling TikTok or dropping memes in the group chat and by the time you realize the game’s finally…
Overwatch 2 Patch Makes One Tank’s Ultimate Terrifyingly Busted
When Overwatch introduced mad scientist tank Sigma back in 2019, he was immediately a powerful shakeup of the meta. His placeable shield was more flexible than Reinhardt or Orisa’s, and his primary rock-throwing weapon did can do damage and disrupt in equal measure. On top of this, his ultimate ability, Gravitic Flux,…

Overwatch 2 Needs To Leave Quick Play Alone
Overwatch 2, like most live service games, often implements big changes that don’t necessarily stick around. In 2020, there was an Experimental mode that changed the original Overwatch’s team composition to one tank, three damage heroes, and two supports that was quickly reverted. Hero tweaks have come and gone. But…
Overwatch 2's Season 10 plans to drop group restrictions, as Competitive overtakes Quick Play in popularity
Changes to Overwatch 2’s Competitive system in its most recent Season Nine has seen the ranked mode overtake casual Quick Play as the most popular way to play the hero shooter sequel. Its developers are also looking ahead to further changes in Season 10, including adjustments to grouping restrictions and its experimental Hacked event.
