Players Of The Sims 4 Have Reported That Their Once Friendly Sims Have Turned Hostile And Started Fighting For No Apparent Cause

Od: Tom Lee
Some Sims 4 players have reported that after installing the latest patch, their Sims have become unreasonably hostile toward other players. Unfortunately, the issue currently affects many players, all of whom report that it has never occurred in their games. The Sims 4 receives frequent updates, which might include new content (such as expansions and […]

The Latest Sims 4 Expansion Pack, Pastel Pop, Will Be Published This Month, And It Has Been Announced That The Sims Team Collaborated With The Renowned Content Designer Plumbella On It

Od: Tom Lee
Plumbella, a well-known Sims content maker, announced their latest KitKat for Sims 4, Pastel Pop. Pastel Pop was one of two rumored future Sims 4 Kits that leaked earlier this week; however, neither KitKatThe Sims team had confirmed KitKit until today. Plumbella, as Jesse McNamara, has over 700,000 YouTube followers and is widely recognized as […]

The Sims 4 has a world problem, and it’s only getting worse

A life simulator, understandably, should let you leave your home to experience the wide-open world. And that’s exactly what you can do in The Sims 4: travel to the rest of the world. Unfortunately, in the fourth installment of the classic Sims series, there’s not that much to see.

The Sims 4 has a bit of a world problem. If you were around for the original release of the game, you remember the disappointment when you first decided to leave your home. There was no open world to explore, and there were so few lots to do anything that it was almost better to just keep your Sim on one lot like you were limited to in the original Sims 1

As the years have gone on, EA has expanded on the amount of worlds that you can visit with the introduction of numerous expansion and game packs. While no one is psyched about having to pay for even more DLC, it at least gives players new worlds to explore. But these worlds are getting smaller and smaller as they continue to release.

Beautiful, but no substance

Visually, many of the new worlds are incredibly appealing. Worlds like Tomarang, Sulani, and the latest addition with the Lovestruck pack Ciudad Enamorada, provide breathtaking views for your Sims to enjoy on beaches, in the woods, and on top of towering skyscrapers. Sadly, that’s all these are though. A vast majority of some of the most beautiful locations are simply set dressing.

Image via EA

Take for example, in the world of Tomarang included in For Rent, there’s a beautiful Southeast Asian-inspired temple that serves as the Tiger Sanctuary. What a perfect place to go exploring for secrets of the town, right? But The Tiger Sanctuary is nothing more than a rabbit hole for your Sim to disappear into, with a few pop-ups describing your adventures.

So, not only are many of the stunning spots just there to look pretty, but the lots you are able to go and check out are limited. The original two worlds included, Willow Creek and Oasis Springs, both have a respectable 21 lots. This isn’t huge, and a majority of those lots are taken up by residential homes, but at least it was a starting point. The problem is that the worlds that have been released have been shaving off lots for a while now.

The world keeps getting smaller

When packs were first released, it seemed like the dev team was trying to make the worlds bigger than before. Windenburg, the world included with Get Together, gave players 14 residential lots and 13 community lots to play with. San Myshuno, packaged with City Living, has 30 lots in total if you count each apartment as its own lot.

However, as more packs have been released, those numbers have been dwindling. Get Famous, released in 2018, has only 11 lots in total. The latest world for players to explore, Ciudad Enamorada, only has 13. Compare this to the largest world included in The Sims 3, Sunset Valley, which had a whopping 92 lots. That’s 79 fewer lots to play with.

It doesn’t help that, unlike previous installments in the series, the map is not editable. You cannot add new lots to the land. While you are able to edit each lot itself, you can’t place a new one next to an existing one, even if that land is blank. The map is instead 2D, with no way to change it.

There are no world adventures here

This has a huge impact on gameplay. Instead of plenty of places to visit, to explore and meet new Sims, players are stuck with the same few places and faces. Playing Sims 4 feels almost like a routine because there’s not much to see and do. Even when new packs are released, you’re able to check out the entire world in just a short few hours of gameplay.

It’s not just the lack of lots, but the lack of variety within them. Each world features the same types of venues, as put by user ContinuumKing on a Reddit post discussing the new features of the Lovestruck pack:

https://www.reddit.com/r/thesims/comments/1dpivjv/comment/laihn0o/

With plenty of upvotes, the sentiment is quite popular. There’s nothing new or exciting to check out in the other worlds because the same activities exist in the world you’re already in. User Big_Stop8917 shared the sentiment:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims4/comments/1e6j3mk/comment/lduihq5/

For fans who love to take their Sims on adventures and journeys that span their entire lifetime, you simply can’t do that with The Sims 4. The coolest places to go are just scenery, the lots that are there are repetitive, and you’ll be able to see it all within just a few days of your Sim’s life. It honestly makes me want to just keep my Sims at home.

We’d love to see a change in this as more DLC releases for Sims 4. Bigger worlds expand the possibilities in gameplay significantly. However, the expansions continue to sell well, so it seems there’s little incentive for EA to fix the problem. The packs will keep rolling out, but hopefully the worlds won't keep this trend going.

The Sims 4 now lets you set how jealous Sims will get when they catch their partner flirting

The latest free update to The Sims 4 will let you "define the conditions under which your Sims become jealous". That's handy. The new feature, called "Romantic Boundaries", will give you some settings to tweak that determine whether a Sim will be bothered when they see their partner flirting with the neighbour, or kissing the neighbour, or getting into bed with the neighbour, or becoming a blur of obscene pixels with the neighb- okay Cindy, stop! I'm not comfortable with this. When I said we could open up I didn't mean with Nigel.

The Sim 4's "summer of love" continues this week with Riviera Retreat and Cozy Bistro Kit DLC

The Sims 4, you might recall, is currently embarking on a sexy "summer of love" - which, so far, has mainly involved some new swimsuits. Now, though, EA has revealed the next two items on its vaguely saucy list: the Riviera Retreat and Cozy Bistro Kit DLC, both arriving on 30th May.

First up, for those summery sunny days of relaxation and shameless undress, is the Riviera Retreat - a "secluded oasis" incorporating "stucco textures, beautiful archways, and shimmering waterfalls with comfortable linen furniture, wicker lounge chairs, and vine-covered pergolas."

This one's all about creating an "ambience of serenity and connection" for your Sims, says EA, whether reclining and rejuvenating alone or together with a smooching pal.

The Sims 4 pledges more bug fixes more often as it looks to address years of 'frustrating' technical issues

The Sims 4 is getting on a bit these days, and, as regular players will know, the whole thing - which includes over 70 bits of DLC piled onto the base game over the last 10 years - is starting to feel a bit creaky. And that's something EA has finally acknowledged, confirming it's now assembled a team specifically to tackle the 'frustrating' technical issues amassed over time.

EA made the proclamation in a statement shared on social media, telling the community, "We know that technical issues with The Sims 4 have interrupted your gameplay over time and we recognise that this has caused you much frustration."

"Today we can share that we have assembled a team to invest in the core game experience," it continued, "including tackling your reported concerns." EA says its new taskforce will result in more fixes arriving at a greater frequency, with the first of these patches due later this month.

Sims 4 devs assemble team to focus on fixing bugs and upping performance, updates to now land every two months

The Sims 4 is fast approaching its 10th birthday this September, a fact that genuinely instilled me with the crushing sense of time marching relentlessly on when I checked its release date a moment ago. That near-decade has brought a whole heap of additions, expansions, packs and updates to the enduring life sim game, to the degree that the underlying tech serving as the foundation for dozens of later mechanical and visual elements can sometimes look a bit wobbly these days.

The Sims 4 is getting ready for a summer of sexy updates, starting with swimsuits

The Sims 4 is preparing for a summer of slinky, sexy free and paid updates according to its newly revealed roadmap, starting with a refreshed batch of swimsuits today.

There's not a huge amount to report on the free swimsuit refresh - they now come in more colours and varieties to better suit a range of body shapes and sizes - but EA notes it's also updated a few other summer-adjacent clothing items, including the tankini and wrap top, to usher in its season of sauciness.

As per the publisher's new roadmap reveal video, the next few steamy months will bring two free "stylish" updates, two destination kits, and one "flirtatious" expansion pack. Specifics are scarce, but we can make a few educated guesses based on EA's clues. The free updates, for instance, are accompanied by the text, "Polished my look for a sultry splash" - suggesting that, alongside today's swimsuit update, we might also be getting further enhancements to nails.

The Sims 4 kicks off the weirdly horny new roadmap with a refresh to base game swimwear

The Sims 4 is nothing if not a teetering jenga tower of updates and add-ons and DLC packs, and the latter half of 2024 will be no exception for EA's life sim king. Yesterday saw the release of an update to the base game's swimwear, kicking off the updates teased in the recently-revealed new roadmap, Season Of Love. The roadmap video's vibe is that it and its partner saw you from across the bar and wondered if you'd be interested in joining them, and it kind of weirds me out.

Here's some The Sims-inspired jewellery for that special someone

Still looking for that perfect gift for Mother's Day? How about a curated selection of jewellery inspired by The Sims 4?

Based upon the Crystal Creations Stuff Pack that dropped last week, EA has released The Sims Plumbob Collection. Consisting of a necklace, ring, and earrings – all of which are sold separately – the set is made from 18k gold electroplated stainless steel with natural green agate.

All three pieces are available now on ShoptheSims.com, with the "statement" ring retailing for £41, the layered necklace for £39, and the drop earrings for £37. You'll need to pay shipping and tax on top of that, too – that's around £8 and £25, respectively, to ship to the UK.

The Sims 4 now has some tie-in jewellery, which I both hate and admire

As any fool knows, the age of girlies bulk-buying silver wire and making their own crystal jewellery at home is over, but EA always arrives precisely when it means to. This weekend saw the release of the Crystal Creations Stuff Pack, a DLC for The Sims 4 that takes the ability to find crystals (already in the game) and straps on your Sims making them into semi-precious, semi-magic jewellery that can be charged up by the moon. What I find more interesting is that this launched with some official IRL Sims plumbob jewellery that you can buy and wear around your own precious, swan-like neck.

Life By You vs Paralives: Which is Looking Like the Bigger Sims Killer?

Occasionally, new games are released that look like they could tempt players away from their go-to title. An exciting new kid arrives in town and everyone wants to get to know them. In the life simulator world, The Sims has been the big-name title for the past two decades. Will Life By You or Paralives be the bigger Sims killer?

Paralives vs Life By You – Could They Take On The Sims 4?

It takes a lot for a big title to be killed off by a new arrival. Asymmetrical horror game fans debated for weeks whether the Texas Chain Saw Massacre game would kill Dead By Daylight. Previous to that it was Video Horror Society (VHS) that made its move into that territory. Neither game was successful in taking on Dead By Daylight. This was mainly due to the huge following DBD had established over the years. So will The Sims 4 survive the arrival of two new life-sim games, Paralives or Life By You?

Glasgow's infamous Willy Wonka Experience lives on through The Sims 4

Od: Liv Ngan

If you, like the rest of the internet, have been swept up in the trainwreck that was the Willy Wonka Experience held in an empty warehouse in Glasgow last weekend, we have good news. While you may no longer be able to witness the real event in person, you can always relive it vicariously through your Sims.

Glasgow's Willy Wonka Experience has gone viral for its emptily-decorated space, its AI-generated scripts, and the random shadowy figure called The Unknown who was scaring children.

The whole thing went so badly, it was cancelled halfway through Saturday after police were called to the event, but not before someone could snap one of the most memorable pictures from it - a sad Oompa Loompa being forced to conduct experiments by event organiser House of Illuminati.

Free Sims 4 update adds vitiligo skin details with Winnie Harlow collaboration

The Sims 4 has partnered with model Winnie Harlow and added a range of vitiligo skin details to the game as part of a free update.

Vitiligo is a long-term condition where pale white patches develop on the skin. This is caused by a lack of melanin, the pigment in skin. Sims 4 players will now be able to customise their Sims with vitiligo skin details, with patches for the face, upper torso, lower torso, arms, and legs now available in the Create-A-Sim menu.

These details are available for Sims of all ages, from infants to elders. Several vitiligo patterns will have "more than one variant", the Sims team said, calling skin details an "important area of focus for the dev team as we remain committed to expanding representation in The Sims 4". Other skin features already in the game include birthmarks, stretch marks, scars, and freckles.

The Sims 4 has added vitiligo in a free update

A new update for The Sims 4 has added options to give characters vitiligo, the autoimmune disorder which causes patches of skin to lose pigmentation. Rather than a handful of preset full-body patterns, The Sims 4's vitiligo impressively comes as loads of patterns for separate bodyparts, so you can create a wide range of effects. And no, you don't need to buy an expansion for it.
