I love when games get weird and grimy, and new dark fantasy looter shooter Vision Quench is hitting all the right notes. Whether it's the suburban cosmic horror of Look Outside, the MS Paint aesthetics of Nubby's Number Factory, or the grimdark rustiness of Cloverpit, 2025's best indie games prove that small teams are doing some of the most interesting work out there. This newcomer from Wizmud Games already has my attention, and it's just confirmed a publishing deal with Palworld developer Pocketpair that should hopefully bring it to the attention of a much wider audience.

Look, I have my fair share of problems with Palworld, but to give credit where credit is due, after announcing their foray into publishing earlier this year, they've lined up a suite of games. Dead Take, a psychological horror complete with Baldur's Gate 3's Neil Newbon and Final Fantasy 16's Ben Starr, launched earlier this year, Truckful just looks like a delight, and now there's Vision Quench, a game for freaks like me who like it when fantasy gets a bit techy.
