Will there be a Fallout 3 Remastered? Rumours and fan mod explained

9. Leden 2026 v 12:03

It's fair to say that Fallout 3 made the series what it is today – there's no New Vegas without 3, after all – so it's hardly a surprise that fans are hoping for a remaster.

Bethesda hasn't said much about remastering their old games (except for Skyrim, of course), but with season 2 of the Fallout TV show doing so well, that may all be about to change.

Fallout 4 got its next-gen upgrade, and even Fallout: New Vegas is getting the remaster rumour treatment, so what about Fallout 3?

Here's what you need to know about the Fallout 3 remaster, and when it could come out. (Hint: It's probably sooner than Fallout 5)

Will there be a Fallout 3 Remastered?

No official Fallout 3 remaster has been announced by Bethesda, at the time of writing.

That said, several Microsoft documents leaked in September 2023 (via IGN) as part of Microsoft's trial over its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Published by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), these documents revealed many upcoming projects coming from Bethesda, with a remaster of Fallout 3 noted. This has naturally led to speculation that an announcement may be on the way.

These rumours were buoyed in late-2025, when Bethesda's Todd Howard confirmed that the team was busy with Fallout 76 and "some other things." Those 'other things' were later reported to be a Fallout 3 remaster.

The latest (and most promising) news comes from January 2026, via noted Xbox insider Jez Corden, reporting for Windows Central that "we are eventually getting a Fallout 3 remake in the vein of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered."

When could a potential Fallout 3 Remastered release date be? Our speculation

At the moment, it's safe to say that we know next to nothing about the state of the Fallout 3 remaster, and as such, it's impossible to accurately say when it would come out.

According to the aforementioned FTC documents published during Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the rumoured Fallout 3 remaster was slated to be released in the financial year of 2024.

That, of course, did not pan out, but with news on development starting to leak out into the world, that does suggest that progress is being made.

While we could potentially see the Fallout 3 remaster launch in 2026, we predict that the Fallout 3 remaster will launch in 2027.

That being said, this is purely speculation, so take that with a rather large grain of salt.

Is there a fan-made Fallout 3 remaster? How to get it explained

Yes, there are a few Fallout 3 remaster mods built by fans over the years. The best place to find them is via Nexus Mods, where users upload their creations for people to try out.

Some have not been updated for years (the game did come out in 2008), so quite a few are a bit outdated.

One from WMDBloodHunter that overhauls the interiors, exterior, DLC as well as adding cut content was last updated in 2023. Just make sure to check the PC requirements.

How to watch Sony's State of Play live stream: PlayStation event's start time tonight

11. Listopad 2025 v 11:11

We're fast approaching the end of the year, and following some big 2025 releases, we've got the final PlayStation State of Play this year.

With some big titles coming to the PS5 in 2026, Sony is already gearing up for what many hope could be the last year before we see the PS6.

We don't know too much about today's show, but it's set to feature a whole host of news about upcoming Japanese and Asian titles, so we're sure to see some bangers either way.

So, with only ours to go until it begins, here's when the next PlayStation State of Play starts, how to watch it and what you can expect!

When is the next PlayStation State of Play? What time is it in the UK?

Sony has confirmed that the next PlayStation State of Play live stream will take place on Tuesday 11th November 2025. It will start at 10pm for those in the UK.

For those outside of the UK, the State of Play will begin on 11th September at 2pm PST / 5pm EST / 11pm CET and 12th November at 7am JST.

The latest PlayStation State of Play was announced one day in advance of airing, with Sony confirming a "State of Play running for more than 40 minutes, focusing on games created in Japan and across Asia, alongside a few other exciting updates".

Which games will be shown in the PlayStation State of Play?

At the moment, we don't really know what games could be showcased, but given that we know they will be games made in Japan and Asia, we have a few guesses.

The most obvious games to show would be Resident Evil Requiem and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, with both 2026 releases being made in Japan.

Many fans of Astro Bot will be hoping to see news on upcoming DLC, following a teaser from a few months ago, or even news on a new game, though we think this is rather more unlikely than a DLC announcement.

Phantom Blade 0, a game being developed by Chinese studio S-GAME, is another title that fans will be hoping to see more of, following a period of relative silence.

Aside from that, we can likely expect some announcements from various Japanese studios and publishers like Bandai Namco or Konami.

Last but not least, we will all be hoping for news from FromSoftware on the future of Bloodborne, and like always, we'll probably finish the night none the wiser!
