One particular pastime in Hogwarts Legacy that creature collection enthusiasts might indulge in is finding and catching every Shiny Magical Beast in the Highlands. Similar to Shiny pocket monsters in the Pokemon franchise, Shiny variants of Beasts are hard-to-find counterparts that vary from their default appearances.
The rare versions of these creatures do not provide different Beast Materials or offer any gameplay advantages. Here’s what you need to know about what every shiny beast color looks like in Hogwarts Legacy, and how to get them.
Where To Catch Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy
Rescuing a Shiny Magical Beast in Hogwarts Legacy is no different than tracking down and capturing an ordinary Beast in the Highlands. The primary dissimilarity in Shiny Hunting is that the Shiny variants have a much lower chance of spawning.
In other words, the only obstacle keeping you from finding a Shiny Beast is Hogwarts Legacy‘s RNG, which can be annoying but rewarding if you are patient and lucky. One of the primary ways you can quickly distinguish a Shiny Beast from its standard variation is by knowing the unique colors of Shiny’s skin, fur, or feathers in Hogwarts Legacy.
How Many Shiny Beasts are Found in Hogwarts Legacy?
There are 12 different Shiny Beasts that you can find in Hogwarts Legacy. Each of these beasts has its own unique color that distinguishes it from its standard variant. Once you’ve managed to find and capture these rare creatures, you can show them off in a vivarium for everyone to see.
These are all the shiny beast colors you can find in Hogwarts Legacy, and how these beast colors vary from their standard colors.
Shiny Diricawl Color in Hogwarts Legacy
Similar to real-world ducks or chickens, male Diricawls are generally colorful, while the females possess a plain yet light plumage. As a result, it can be challenging to visually separate the white Shiny Diricawl in Hogwarts Legacy from the normal females when glancing from a distance. However, after you get closer, the milky tint of the Shiny version’s white feathers becomes more apparent and easier to differentiate.
Shiny Fwooper Color in Hogwarts Legacy
Next is the Shiny Fwooper in Hogwarts Legacy, an owl-like rarity with white feathers that possess a pinkish tint. When comparing the Shiny version of this Beast with its other common colors, it is effortless to see the differences in hue since normal Fwoopers are typically hot pink or tropical blue. Nevertheless, the bright colors can look the same after nightfall, so it might be best to hunt for this bird during the day.
Shiny Giant Purple Toad Color in Hogwarts Legacy
One of the easiest Shiny Beast colors to spot in the Highlands is the Shiny version of the Giant Purple Toad. As its name implies, this oversized amphibian is typically a shade of purple. However, a Shiny Giant Purple Toad’s skin is a pale white in an almost albino-like manner, making it extremely easy to notice in dark and dank swamps, regardless of the hour.
Shiny Graphorn Color in Hogwarts Legacy
The Shiny Graphorn is undoubtedly the most challenging and effort-demanding Shiny Magical Beast to farm in Hogwarts Legacy. The Shiny Graphorn’s ashen, whitish color in Hogwarts Legacy is certainly remarkable but stands a reward that requires your dedication to earn it. The reason is that you must defeat a Wild Graphorn in combat every time before catching it. Accordingly, it took us over three hours and approximately 50+ attempts before we encountered a Shiny Graphorn at its sole Den in the Highlands.
Shiny Hippogriff Color in Hogwarts Legacy
Similar to the Jobberknoll, the Shiny Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy is a stark contrast to its white pearl color. You can instantly recognize a Shiny Hippogriff by its dark, jet-black appearance, regardless of the time of day.
Shiny Jobberknoll Color in Hogwarts Legacy
The Jobberknoll typically comes in shades of blue, from bright azure to emerald turquoise. On the other hand, a Shiny Jobberknoll in Hogwarts Legacy has charcoal gray plumage speckled with white dots. This Shiny Beast’s breast is white like its default appearance, but the blackish tint of its body makes it easy to spot under sunlight but hard to see after nightfall.
Shiny Kneazle Color in Hogwarts Legacy
Likely the most prosaic Shiny Beast color in Hogwarts Legacy is the Shiny Kneazle, which has a mountain lynx’s light, tannish brown fur. Of course, the creature is still appealing to the eyes, especially how its sky-blue eyes contrast with its grayish-brown hair. Even so, the lack of a vivid, distinguishable characteristic in the Shiny’s appearance makes it hard to differentiate between its standard form.
Shiny Mooncalf Color in Hogwarts Legacy
Speaking of nightfall, Mooncalves are a Magical Beast that you can only encounter after the sun has set across the Highlands. The thin fur of a Shiny Mooncalf in Hogwarts Legacy is a milky white, making it notably easy to identify in the dark of night. As for its sparkly, starlit eyes, the irises of a Shiny Mooncalf remain the same gradient tone of cosmic blue.
Shiny Niffler Color in Hogwarts Legacy
The color of Shiny Nifflers in Hogwarts Legacy is a luminous gray, which can be impossible to distinguish from the bluish aquamarine fur of normal Nifflers under the night sky. Therefore, searching for these platypus-esque critters during the day is an ideal approach.
Shiny Puffskein Color in Hogwarts Legacy
Conversely, the color of a Shiny Puffskein in Hogwarts Legacy is rather tricky to distinguish from its regular array of fur hues. More specifically, Shiny Puffskeins are light gray in color, with connected patches of white hair across its face. Because there are other light-colored Puffskeins in its default appearance pool, noticing a Shiny variation of this Magical Beast can be challenging, depending on if the lightning of the environment is right.
Shiny Thestral Color in Hogwarts Legacy
Similar to Shiny Giant Purple Toads, Shiny Thestrals in Hogwarts Legacy are noticeably different from their default appearance due to their pale silver skin color. However, this silver shade can sometimes be hard to spot since Thestrals have reflective skin, making it tricky to distinguish a Shiny variant from a female’s pale yellow hue.
Shiny Unicorn Color in Hogwarts Legacy
One of the hardest Shiny Beasts to catch is undoubtedly the Shiny Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy, as the horned equine only has a single Den and spawns one at a time. If you plan to catch one, be prepared for a test of perseverance, as it took us around two hours of farming before we were able to encounter one in the Forbidden Forest. Nonetheless, the effort is well worth it if you appreciate the Shiny variant’s gorgeous golden fur.
Before concluding, it is important to note that only one Phoenix can be acquired from a late-game quest in Hogwarts Legacy. Therefore, it was not included in this 12-item list as a potential Shiny Beast. Moreover, the total time it took to farm all these Shiny variants for us was around six hours, but your RNG might be more favorable than ours.
How to Quickly Find Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy
In Hogwarts Legacy, finding shiny beasts involves a few key steps. First, choose a Den that houses the Beast you’re interested in. Once there, approach each Beast and look for a star sign next to its name, which indicates it’s a shiny. Using Disillusionment can make this process easier by preventing the Beasts from fleeing.
If you don’t find any shinies, capture all the creatures in the Den and leave. Changing the time on your map or using Fast Travel to a Floo Flame and then returning can force the Den to respawn.
Also note that creating a manual save and loading it up can reset the Den, giving you another chance to find a shiny. By repeating these steps, you can increase your chances of finding a Shiny Beast in Hogwarts Legacy.

Players have two options to escape when playing as a Survivor in Dead by Daylight. The first is to work together with their fellow Survivors and repair five generators. When they finally escape as a team, they feel triumphant because the team overcame evil together, not apart.
The second is to cower in the tall grass, hoping they get lucky and find a hatch, or wait until one spawns when all their fellow Survivors have been sacrificed. This guide is for those players who like to let others perish for their safety. Below, we’ve covered all the known hatch spawn locations for each map in Dead by Daylight. A word of caution: The Killer can close the hatch, so be careful not to get caught in a trap.
The MacMillan Estate Map Hatch Locations
This section covers the dbd hatch locations for the MacMillan Estate map in Dead by Daylight.
Coal Tower
The Coal Tower is the huge building dominating the landscape. It groans and creaks as Survivors walk past it. Look to the side of the coal tower, and players will see a two-story building. The hatch will spawn on the outside near the wheelhouse.
Groaning Storehouse
The Groaning Storehouse is another huge building. Players will know it because it’s got so many entrances and exits. The hatch could spawn in or around the main building. Keep an eye out.
The Ironworks of Misery
The Ironworks of Misery is another location fans can’t miss. It’s the beating heart of the mine and the place they’ll be cornered in the most by Killers. Look for the hatch to spawn between two pipes on the first floor of the building.
Shelter Woods
The Shelter Woods is a colossal tree marks this area. There are three potential areas where Survivors can look for a hatch. The first is near the cabin. If that doesn’t pay off, scout the area’s edges. There are two spawn points right on the area’s perimeter.
Suffocation Pit
With this final region, look for the huge house near the ramp to find the Suffocation Pit. It’s also where players can see a hill near the farm. The hatch will spawn behind the large house.
The Autohaven Wreckers Map Hatch Locations
The following are the dbd hatch locations for the Autohaven Wreckers maps in Dead by Daylight.
Azarov’s Resting Place
The hatch in Azarov’s Resting Place is not always there. However, the chances are better for it to spawn toward the map’s outer edge, between trees, and near generators. If a single area has all three, the chances are that the map will appear there as well.
Blood Lodge
The Blood Lodge has but one hatch inside the lodge, right at the bottom of the map, down all those terrifying stairs. Survivors should not go there unless they absolutely must.
Gas Haven
The Gas Haven hatch is another highly randomized one. Our best suggestion is to look around the outer edge and watch generators when the time comes.
Wretched Shop
There are two barrels and a tree behind the Wretched Shop. That’s where the hatch will spawn. We recommend all players familiarize themselves with the area so they know where to run when they’re the only ones left.
Wrecker’s Yard
The hatch in Wrecker’s Yard is another randomized one. The pattern seems to be that the hatch will spawn near trees but also inside buildings. When Survivors need to find it quickly, they should go for the trees first.
Coldwind Farms Map Hatch Locations
The following are the hatch locations for all the Coldwind Farms maps in Dead by Daylight.
Fractured Cowshed
There’s a blimp crash site near the Fracture Cowshed. The hatch spawns north or northeast of it. Players shouldn’t have trouble finding the site; they just need to run there and start their search when the time comes.
The Thompson House
Head to the back of the Thompson House. The hatch will spawn on the lower porch in the back corner. It’s good for Survivors to learn this location to get there fast each Trial.
Torment Creek
If you want to find Torment Creek, look for a building in this region that’s half torn down. The hatch will spawn beside it. This is a tricky one because everything looks the same. Just remember that it’s a half-torn-down building.
Rancid Abattoir
The Rancid Abattoir hatch is one that everyone knows. There’s a room with hanging dead pigs. This is the room in which the hatch generally spawns. The hatch can also spawn near the exits, but it’ll be beside a fence. This might seem counterintuitive, but it’s the pattern we’ve seen in the spawns.
Rotten Fields
Players will almost certainly see the Rotten Fields hatch spawn in one of the fields near the exit. For the most part, though, this map has extremely random hatch spawns. Survivors should keep looking through the crops to see what they can find.
The Crotus Prenn Asylum Map Hatch Locations
The following are the hatch locations for the two maps in The Crotus Penn Asylum area of Dead by Daylight.
Disturbed Ward
The hatch spawns in the Disturbed Ward are very random. What seems to be a common thread between them is that they spawn near bonfires. If players are stuck, and on the run, they must look for the light.
Father Campbell’s Chapel
To find the hatch in Father Campbell’s Chapel, Survivors want to look for the shack on the map. The hatch almost always spawns inside it. If that fails, they must look for generators on the edge of the map.
Haddonfield Map Hatch Locations
Lampkin Lane
The hatch in Lampkin lane is a very predictable one. Players need to look at the paved road. The hatch will spawn in the middle or at either end.
Blackwater Swamp Map Hatch Locations
These are the hatch spawn locations for the Black Water Swamp maps in Dead by Daylight.
The Pale Rose
Unfortunately, the hatch spawns in The Pale Rose are more random than anyone can track. Look to the outer edges for a good start. Just bear in mind that the hatch could also spawn on the second floor of a building.
Grim Pantry
When it comes to dbd hatch locations, Grim Pantry is extremely random. It’s best to try to look in the center of the map since that’s generally a great place to start finding the hatch.
Lery’s Memorial Institute Map Hatch Locations
Treatment Theatre
Treatment Theatre is quite random, but Survivors can predict where the hatch will spawn to some degree. They need to look for the corridors that are at the corners of the map. There’s a better chance of it spawning there than anywhere else.
Red Forest Map Hatch Locations
Mother’s Dwelling
Saying that trees are great for the hatch spawn in Mother’s Dwelling isn’t helpful, we know, but that’s what we’re saying nonetheless. The hatch is far more likely to spawn near tall trees that stand out, so all players should seek those out if they’re on the run as the last survivor.
Springwood Map Hatch Locations
Badham Preschool
There are two key locations where you’ll find the hatch spawning in Badham Preschool. The first is the boiler room in the basement. The second is at the end of the road, conveniently near an exit.
Gideon Meat Plant Map Hatch Locations
The Game
On The Game, players need to look for the stairs going downwards and follow them. The hatch spawns at the bottom most of the time. Sadly, this isn’t always the case. If it isn’t the time fans take a chance on it, they will die.
Yamaoka Estate Map Hatch Locations
Family Residence
The rule of the center applies in the Family Residence. The hatch almost always spawns in the center of the map. It’s in the section where bamboo canes grow amid a few low concrete walls.
Ormond Map Hatch Locations
Mount Ormond Resort
Hatches are always more likely to spawn near generators in Mount Ormond Resort. That’s true here. Players will find that the hatch is almost always near one. Fans should check every generator they know about. Luckily, they’re incredibly noisy and easy to track down. That logic also applies to the Killer, though, which players need to bear in mind.
Hawkins National Library Map Hatch Locations
The hatch for the Hawkins National Library Map is, as expected, found most at its center. The lower level and close to the exit gates are where we’ve seen it most, but the location is just as random as it is with every other map in Dead by Daylight.
For the Undergroun Complex specifically, the hatch will only spawn on the lowest level. That means going down as far as possible, which is risky with a Killer on the loose. Once there, check around the edges and then look for generators.
Grave of Glenvale Map Hatch Locations
Dead Dawg Saloon
In the Dead Dawg Saloon, the hatches are random. Go with the reliable tips of generators and check the edges first. If it’s not in any of those locations, it might be in the center.
Silent Hill Map Hatch Locations
This section explains where the hatch will most likely spawn in all Silent Hill maps added to Dead by Daylight with the incredible Silent Hill Chapter.
Midwich Elementary School
The Midwich Elementary School is also random, but it’s even more complex than that. The hatch can spawn under hunks of flesh, so you have to look even harder for them. Don’t let a lump go by without you rubbing your face in it.
Forsaken Boneyard Map Hatch Locations
With Forsaken Boneyward, developer Behaviour Interactive didn’t want to allow players to game the system and lurk close to hatch spawn locations. The hatches here are random, but sticking to the edges or center is always a good tactic.
Raccoon City Map Hatch Locations
Developer Behaviour Interactive split the original Raccoon city map into two, the east and west wings.
Raccoon City Police Station East Wing Map Hatch Locations
While there’s no set location for the hatch to spawn in this map, most players agree that the hatch spawns upstairs in the lounge more often than not. We’ve escaped through this hatch more times than we can count, so it seems like a reliable location.
Raccoon City Police Station West Wing Map Hatch Locations
As with the Racoon City Police Station East Wing version of this map, the hatch tends to spawn upstairs more than it does downstairs. We’ve never seen it downstairs and have escaped through the bathroom a few times when we’ve been the last Survivor on the map.
Withered Isle Map Hatch Locations
The Garden of Joy is the map of Withered Isle, and it’s a tough one to tackle as a Survivor. If players are looking for the hatch, their best bet is running outside until they hear it. Usually, it’ll spawn in one of the small squares of hedges to the right or left of the map. We’ve never seen it spawn inside a building.
The Shattered Square Map Hatch Locations
The Shattered Square’s map is a location in Medieval Italy that’s been utterly decimated by war. There are many open spaces to be seen in and almost no cover from being spotted at long range by the Killer. We’ve seen the hatch spawn in areas close to generators on this map, inside burned-out buildings. If players are left alone and need to escape, they should move from building to building until they find a way out.
The Hunting Camp/Shelter Woods Map Hatch Locations
The hatch will spawn in The Hunting Ground in similar locations to most Macmillan Estate maps. This is because the map is a new version of those maps built for the Tools of Torment’s new Killer, The Skull Merchant. The idea is that the Killer’s base has been dumped into the map, so the spawn points are very similar. However, there’s always a chance the hatch will spawn inside the base itself, sometimes on the first floor.
A player’s best bet for finding the hatch once it spawns is to check the base first. Then, they know if the hatch is inside the base or on the map somewhere else. However, the center of the map is this new base, so the hatch will more than likely spawn there.
Toba Landing Map Hatch Locations
Toba Landing is an alien world map added to Dead by Daylight with the End Transmission Chapter. It’s a dense first of disgusting wildlife where players are hunted relentlessly by The Singularity. The hatch can spawn anywhere on this map, but the best places to check first are inside buildings. This is where it seems to pop up most, so players should check every building to see if they’re the last one standing before roaming the exterior in hopes of stumbling upon it.
The Nostromo Hatch Locations
The Nostromo is the map added to Dead by Daylight with the Alien Chapter. It’s an iconic location, but it doesn’t come around in rotation that often. The hatch generally appears around the edge of this map. While it’s randomized, we’ve seen it most at the edges, with the occasional appearance closer to the center of the map.
This map has multiple levels, and it’s important to remember that the hatch can appear anywhere. It’s a strange object, so keep an eye out for it, even when there’s no logical sense as to where it’s been placed in the Nostromo.
What is the Hatch in Dead by Daylight?
The hatch is a final escape route Survivors can use to get out of a Trial after all the other Survivors have either escaped or been sacrificed. It’s a small space on the floor of the map that makes an ominous sound to attract Survivors to it.
Killers can hit this hatch to prevent Survivors from using it, but Survivors can use Keys to unlock it once again. Players will only see the hatch spawn at the end of a Trial, and it’s often a better option if the Killer has sacrificed all the other Survivors on the map, especially if they’re then guarding the exits.
The hatch spawns in a random location on each map. While the spawns are in the map’s major landmarks about 90% of the time, they sometimes throw you a curveball and spawn in the more remote locations.
However, players can burn the Annotated Blueprint to increase the likelihood of a hatch spawning at the Killer Shack or a Vigo’s Blueprint to make the hatch more likely to spawn at the main buildings. This applies to all of the maps.
