Following its Xbox Game Preview release this past April, Towerborne is launching in full on February 26, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, Game Pass (Premium and Ultimate), is handheld verified and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
First and foremost, we at Stoic want to take a moment and salute our amazing community who joined us in the Towerborne early access journey. It’s no exaggeration to say that the game would not be what it is without our community. Thank you to every Ace for your valuable feedback, passion, ideas and dedication which shaped Towerborne into our full game release.
That’s right, we’re excited to announce that we will be exiting early access and Xbox Game Preview and launching our full game on February 26, 2026, on Xbox, PC, Steam and PlayStation 5. This is all tied to a major 1.0 update to the game, and a shift in how you play and access. For those who have been with us from the start, there is a lot of new content and updates for you. And for those who will experience Towerborne for the first time, welcome! Let’s jump in.
A Reimagined Launch Experience
With this full game update, Towerborne shifts from its original vision as a free-to-play, always online title into a buy once, offline game – you will own the complete experience permanently, with offline play and online co-op.
This change required deep structural rebuilding over the past year, transforming systems originally designed around constant connectivity. The result is a stronger, more accessible, and more player-friendly version of Towerborne — one we’re incredibly proud to bring to launch.
What’s Coming in the Full Game Update on February 26, 2026
A complete story & final showdown: We have an updated and complete story, a full narrative arc featuring a major antagonist, new side quests, and an overhauled Bounty Board.
Who’s the boss?: we’ve added two new bosses, including the big bad boss (that would be the antagonist we mentioned), lieutenants, and umbra enemies.
Fully reworked difficulty system: we’ve added an entirely new difficulty system, a complete rebalance of the game, and a new ‘Brutal’ difficulty for those who enjoy breaking controllers and swearing at their screens.
Map it out: we’ve reworked and reimagined the World Map and added a new coastal biome.
New Encounters & Combat Challenges: we’ve added new gear and player abilities, a new Forge system with the ability to modify, upgrade, and re-roll stats
Is there more? Yes, there’s more! We have new music from the man/myth/maestro Austin Wintory, a bunch of quality of life and bug fixes, no more cosmetic purchasing – you can acquire all cosmetics free through gameplay, we added a TON of new cosmetics, and we’ve included multiple save slots and the ability to import your current character and associated loot.
That’s just a high-level look at what you can expect with the full game release of Towerborne. This major update represents a huge shift for the game and the community, and we have worked hard to incorporate as much of your feedback as we could. When you drop in and start playing the Co-Op Campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14 for the first time, you’ll enter a future that’s on the verge of catastrophe in the year 2035. You’ll also step into the latest chapter of a saga that stretches across multiple Black Ops games, bringing us to an inflection point featuring its infamous villain, Raul Menendez, a global tech giant known as The Guild, and our hero David Mason, seemingly caught in their crosshairs.
With Black Ops 7 launching soon, we’re recapping some of the key storytelling moments that have led us to this point, as well as exploring some of the post-game content that will be available at launch with Endgame and more. Let’s dive in!
The Story So Far
When we first met the villain Raul Menendez in Black Ops II, he was the leader of the arms-dealing Menendez Cartel that captured Frank Woods, one of the heroes of the first Black Ops game. Saved in a daring rescue mission by Alex Mason, the main protagonist from Black Ops, Woods desired revenge. But this proved costly. Menendez would become emboldened after a botched CIA mission featuring Woods and Mason, resulting in the death of his sister, Josefina, and presumably him as well.
Years later, a trap was set that resulted in Woods fatally killing Alex Mason under a false pretense, with Menendez revealing himself to be alive and at the center of this heinous plot. He then shoots Woods in his kneecaps and cripples him for life, leaving him to suffer for what he has done.
Years pass, and Menendez forms the political movement of Cordis Die. Tapping into social networks to spread propaganda, he works under the pseudonym Ulysses while covertly using the group’s military arm to incite a second Cold War through riots, financial upheaval, and cyber warfare.
Alex Mason’s son, David, with the help of Frank Woods, has now taken up the hunt to bring Menendez to justice. He was eventually able to put a stop to his plans and bring the villain to rest… or so he thought. As showcased in the reveal trailer for Black Ops 7, Menendez has seemingly returned. This time The Guild, a global tech giant located in the Mediterranean city of Avalon, is using its advanced tech to safeguard citizens and stands in opposition to Menendez and his new army.
David Mason isn’t buying it. Doubting The Guild and their promise of salvation, it’s now up to him and his elite JSOC Operators — Mike Harper, Leilani “50/50” Tupuola, and Eric Samuels — to get to the bottom of things. Will they uncover the real motives behind Menendez’s reappearance and The Guild’s rise to power? As the world spirals into chaos once more, David must learn to face enemies both old and new.
Co-op Campaign
This culminates in a first for a Call of Duty title with the fully-fledged, 1-4 player Co-Op Campaign that lets you experience the gripping narrative of Black Ops 7 solo or with up to three other friends. Treyarch and Raven Software are bringing players the biggest Black Ops ever, with this innovative Co-Op Campaign that will redefine the Black Ops experience. Mission variety will be at the core of the Campaign, where you’ll take on a variety of high-stakes missions from Nicaragua to Los Angeles to Tokyo, and even into the deepest corners of the human psyche. You’ll also experience Avalon, an expansive city whose secrets ripple across the Campaign and beyond.
The Endgame
Once you’ve completed the first 11 Co-op Campaign missions, you’ll unlock the Endgame, which tasks JSOC with exploring Avalon, taking down The Guild’s strongholds, and minding the exposure zones that are leaking huge amounts of a mysterious toxin into the city.
Built for 1 to 32 players in squads of up to four, Endgame has you fight through escalating zones across this massive map, where you can level up unique Skill Trees and Combat Ratings, complete Assignments, improve your weapon rarity, and exfil to preserve hard-earned progress. Best of all, Player Progression and Weapon Leveling feeds into this with 90 unique Camos to unlock for launch Weapons and dedicated Co-Op Campaign Camo rewards. Endgame needs every player working together during their deployment in Avalon. Squads can split off to pursue their own objectives or fight alongside others to improve the odds in tough fights.
The C-Link C.O.M.B.A.T. OS unlocks full Loadout customization in the Endgame, giving you the ability to choose your preferred tools to achieve your goal: Gain enough power to reach the highest exposure zones. This starts with you choosing one of the four Operator Slots (each one of these represents a character’s dedicated power journey). Power up in-game to level up your Combat Rating, and to earn Skills and Power Upgrades across Health, Armor, Speed, and Damage. But be careful: If you’re killed in action, you lose it all.
When creating a Loadout, you can choose one Major and one Minor Ability for your Operator. These grant new moves, powerful tools, and more. Once your Loadout is in place, drop into Avalon using a wingsuit and start exploring the vast landscape on foot or in vehicle.
Campaign Endgame Loadouts consist of a Main Weapon, a Melee Weapon, a Field Acquisition (a weapon you’ve found in a previous Endgame match and exfilled with), and a piece of Field Equipment. Explore further into Avalon to uncover workbenches found across the province to upgrade your weapon’s rarity and boost its damage. Unified Progression
One of our favorite features for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is unified player progression across the entire experience. Whether fighting through the Co-Op Campaign, dropping foes in Multiplayer, or surviving in Zombies, every action contributes to global Level XP, including Endgame activities.
That also means you can earn XP, Weapon Levels, Weapon Camos, and Battle Pass progress while completing co-op missions and Endgame runs. The experience you build in the story connects seamlessly into every other mode.

Our pixel fishing adventure Nice Day for Fishing lands finally lands on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC today, and we’re really excited to be able to share on how it was made.
The story follows Baelin, the town’s humble fisherman. When a vast number of evils are released from a cursed magical chest and everyone but the NPCs vanish! (thanks a lot Baradun!) Baelin suddenly awakens with the powers of an Adventurer. Now it’s up to him to save Honeywood the only way he knows how – by fishing!
Building the World of Azerim
When we started designing the world of Azerim — the world in which Nice Day for Fishing takes place — we went deep into the Epic NPC Man universe, literally and creatively! We watched countless Viva La Dirt League videos, searching for iconic landmarks that every fan would recognize, even when reimagined in pixel art.
If you haven’t heard of Viva La Dirt League before, you’re missing out. The New Zealand comedy group creates clever, high-production sketches on YouTube that celebrate the fun, and the sometimes-absurd side, of gaming. Their videos dive into everything from the questionable logic in The Witcher, to tongue-in-cheek public service announcements for Hearthstone players. What makes them stand out is their background of being gamers themselves. They understand the meta-moments and inside jokes, the glitches and weird NPC behaviors everyone recognizes. Their long-running series Epic NPC Man is set inside a fictitious MMORPG game world Skycraft and covers the unseen lives of NPCs — from navigating player induced chaos, petty rivalries or that existential dread in hearing the NPC with one repeating voice line.
With incredible support from the VLDL team and their community, we gathered tons of reference material from maps, environmental notes, and even hints about regions that might appear in future episodes. We also thought about what makes for great fishing locations in general and matched those ideas to the Epic NPC Man world. A volcano? Sounds hot (and maybe a little dangerous.) A magical library turned slimy fish-infested ruin? That had to be in. And of course, The Undead Mines, because every fantasy world needs undead (fish).
We also wanted to bring fans to places that were only talked about in the show but never shown. Translating such a rich world into a 2D sidescroller, and dividing it into 12 underwater regions, was a challenge, but one that sparked endless creativity as we dove deeper into the lore of Azerim.
At the heart of it all lies Honeywood Village, complete with the original music from the VLDL videos. Seeing the Azerim map come to life in side-view, piece by piece, was both a challenge and a rewarding world-building experience.
Battles Beneath the Surface
When you think “fishing game,” you probably imagine a simple minigame. We didn’t want that. Nice Day for Fishing takes the act of fishing and turns it into a full-blown RPG-style battle system.
Once a fish bites, combat begins! Players attack with a button press, dealing damage and pulling the fish closer to the surface. But beware — these aren’t your average fish. They’ll fight back, reverse the line, and force you into a defensive stance. You’ll need to time your attacks, blocks, and spell casts while managing items and cooldowns — because even the fish have tricks up their fins.

There are plenty of ways to get your hands on powerful equipment — hidden treasure chests, upgraded shop inventories, or even bizarre side quests from Honeywood’s eccentric mayor. Whether you favor magic or brute strength, your playstyle determines what tools will serve you best.
Here are a few fan-favorite pieces of gear to look out for:
Bonecaller’s Rod A perfect weapon for early offensive mages, this rod can be earned early on by completing the first set of the mayor’s side quests. It’ll carry you comfortably through the midgame until you’re ready for something stronger.
The Buckler Great for defensive players who prefer to outlast rather than overpower. Found in a submerged treasure chest, its bonus defense can turn a seemingly impossible boss fight into a manageable one.
Obvious Wizard Hat A must-have for glass-cannon mages. Once you gain more freedom of movement with your hook, head back to the ship at sea to find this stylish — and powerful — hat.
Ring of Great Recovery Beyond healing potions and spells, this ring helps restore your health mid-battle. Whether you’re a tank, mage, or hybrid build, you can buy it from Willow’s shop to give yourself a little extra survivability.
Duel Ring
Earned after defeating the first boss, this ring helps new players time their blocks and parries more effectively. It’s a huge advantage early in the game and perfect for mastering defensive combat.
In general, however, the rule is: anyone who wants to have the very best equipment has to upgrade all the shops to the maximum level. Then you’ll find gear that offers the best of the best for mages, paladins, or warriors respectively.
Except for one exception — the reward for defeating the secret new boss. But we don’t want to spoil too much about that.

New Gear, New Mechanics
Every Adventurer deserves the ultimate tools for their quest. Although Baelin may be a humble fisherman, as an Adventurer his rod is his weapon, his boat is his steed and his hat is his armor, so make sure you've equipped the right one for the job! Effortlessly dredge hidden treasures from the deep with the magnet hook, or break through cavern walls with the powerful drill to unlock new pathways. Enhance your fishing rod to increase your strength and upgrade your lines to go further into the depths to target the formidable and challenging fish that swim in the shadows.
Rebuild Honeywood
While on your adventures, you’ll find valuable resources to dredge from shipwrecks that have succumbed to the sea, which can be used to rebuild the destroyed village. Enlist help from the Woodcutter to bring Honeywood back to its former glory. Each building upgrade unlocks more equipment and quests from the merchants.
