Of Ash and Steel is a polarizing game to say the least, but there is a ton of great stuff there if you have the patience to deal with the inherent jank that comes with a game of this budget and genre.

It's always a funny thing when you see a gamer say, "I wish I could live in this world.". It's usually a tribute to how much fun someone is having existing in a video game, but most of the time, that comment isn't being given a lot of thought.

Obsidian was on one in 2025, releasing two of the biggest games of the year. While one is science fiction and the other is medieval fantasy, they both have a ton of similarities. Both are first and third-person RPGs with a ton of choices to make that can alter the path of the story as well as the fate of different companions you meet throughout the journey.
