Fanatical - are its cheap Steam keys legit?

While Steam dominates the games marketplace for PC, there's no shortage of other online-only retailers that provide keys for Valve's storefront, like Epic Games, GOG, and more. Fanatical is one of these retailers, and with discounts that are typically lower than Steam, it's easy to see why some customers are suspicious. Fortunately, we're here to tell you everything about the retailer, and whether you can trust buying from it (spoiler: it's legit). If you're looking to find the best PC games at cheaper prices, chances are that Fanatical has popped up in your search results. Well, the United Kingdom-based retailer offers plenty of Steam titles at great prices worldwide, and here's what you need to know before you buy those keys from them.

Pre-order Resident Evil Requiem with a discount, and get a free game or a coupon

As much as I love the classic entries, the newer Resident Evil games (Biohazard and Village) are some top-tier twists on the beloved franchise, easily becoming some of the best horror games in my library. The first-person perspective and limited ammunition take it away from the action-focused parts of Resident Evil 5 and 6, respectively, but Resident Evil Requiem is bringing the best of both worlds here. If you're keen to see how Grace and Leon's story falls together in the ninth mainline entry, you can pre-order it at a discount with Fanatical. And, to make it even more worthwhile, you can also get a free Steam key for another game, or potentially, a coupon for your next purchase.

Here's the cheapest way to get High on Life 2 right now, and score eight games in the process

High on Life 2 is, surprisingly, exactly what a sequel should be. Don't get me wrong, its predecessor is a fun romp through a sci-fi world full of talking guns and obscene jokes, but it's not one of the best FPS games ever made. However, the sequel keeps everything intact, tightening the pacing in the process, while also shoving it on a skateboard. For all intents and purposes, it's more of the same, and that's absolutely refreshing. If you want to get it for cheap, well, here's the best way to get it at a lower price.

Grab RimWorld for cheaper than ever, and get its excellent expansions at a great price, too

RimWorld is a strange, beautiful gem of a game. Masquerading as a colony simulation experience, as you survive a daunting alien world, it's also arguably a story generator. For every haunting night that you barely see the next day, you'll also have a situation where your elderly colonist gets instantly wiped out by a meteor that decided to land exactly where he was. Or perhaps you slap a T. rex into learning its place in the world. Either way, it's an absolutely chaotic experience that rarely goes on offer, especially its DLC, yet they're all cheaper than ever with Fanatical's latest sale.

Get Code Vein 2 at a tasty discount if you pre-order the upcoming anime soulslike now

The first game may have had a few issues, but in my personal opinion, Code Vein remains one of the best soulslikes for its style alone. Before Elden Ring and the later titles it inspired took the world by storm, it was a daring attempt at an anime-infused action RPG, but with combat that flowed as much as the blood in the game does. Code Vein 2 looks like it's going to have even more unique offerings, and right now, you can pre-order it at a brilliant discount before launch.

Dynasty Warriors Origins has a huge Black Friday discount, bringing the underloved action game to its lowest price

This year has been full of excellent games, but when it comes to the best action games, Dynasty Warriors: Origins isn't talked about enough. Considering it launched right at the start of the year, it's fair to say that it's been overshadowed by other major releases, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't play it, and right now, it's got a huge Black Friday discount that brings it down to its lowest price ever - but only for one day.

Helldivers 2 gets a huge Black Friday deal, making it cheaper than ever, but only for a day

Arc Raiders may be the most talked-about co-op shooter right now, but in my eyes, it doesn't hold a candle to Helldivers 2. From the excellent bug-slaying and robot-demolishing combat to the community missions that help you feel part of something bigger, it's one of the best co-op games of all time (and a viral hit, when it first launched), and you can grab it at a massive Black Friday discount right now - but you only have a day.

From Borderlands 4 to Expedition 33, Fanatical's Black Friday prices are cheaper than Steam

Though Steam may not be having a Black Friday sale of its own, that shouldn't stop you from filling up your library (see: backlog) with a bunch of Steam keys at great prices. The Fanatical Black Friday sale is finally here, giving you plenty of deals from underrated gems to this year's biggest hits, and while there's plenty to choose from, I've cherry-picked some of my personal favorites to make the choice easier for you. Considering that Fanatical's prices are usually cheaper than Valve's storefront, I imagine most of the existing discounts will be cheaper than the next Steam sale. Best of all, it's slightly earlier, starting a week before the shopping event of the year, so if you're looking to get some adventures to end the year off, this is the time.

Whether it's the sound of clashing swords or the whispers of the wind in crowded markets, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a masterful take on medieval life. It is not only one of this year's best RPGs, but also an essential role-playing experience for fans of the genre, delivering a harsh world that is both beautiful and dangerous. I can't recommend it strongly enough. Grab brutal FPS Escape From Tarkov at its cheapest price for a special 1.0 launch discount

Escape From Tarkov is a stressful old time, but the good kind of stress. If you compare EFT to Call of Duty, it makes Activision's baby look like child's play, and I say that as a fan of both. Delivering an intense extraction shooter that is brutal and typically unforgiving, it offers a tough learning curve that can feel unwelcoming, but if you can learn the game's various mechanics, it is easy to see why it's one of the best FPS games. Don't believe me? Well, you can grab it at a great launch discount following the massive 1.0 update.

Forget Steam Frame, you can get up to $70 off the Meta Quest 3S in this early Black Friday sale

I get the hype around Steam Frame, and out of all the hardware Valve showcased recently, it's actually the only piece of tech on my Steam wishlist. However, I love the Quest 3, which remains one of the best VR headsets due to a great price point, decent hardware, and a fantastic number of exclusive games. If you're looking for a cheap way to get into virtual reality, the Meta Quest 3S delivers a budget-friendly version, and it's up to $70 off in this early Black Friday bargain. The Meta Quest 3S may have slightly worse lenses than Meta's premium VR option, as well as a slightly lower resolution per eye, but still packs in the great performance and features of Quest 3, just toned down for a cheaper price point. It has the same excellent Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor, which delivers brilliant performance in both standalone VR games and mixed reality experiences, and it also has color passthrough, like the more expensive variant.
