UK government weighs removing Prince Andrew from line of succession, but officials say they’re not ruling anything out

The UK government is considering whether to remove former Prince Andrew from the line of succession as a police investigation continues into the former royal. The developments were reported by Fox News, which noted officials saying they are not ruling out further steps.

Andrew was arrested Thursday morning, February 19, on suspicion of misconduct in public office, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. He was released from custody hours later, and authorities have said the investigation is ongoing.

Although Andrew was stripped of his princely title in October 2025, he remains eighth in line to the throne. Any change to his position would require new legislation, making it a significant political and constitutional step for the government.

Removing a royal from succession would require a new law

James Murray, the government’s chief secretary to the Treasury, said the government is considering what additional steps might be required and that officials are not ruling anything out. Defence Minister Luke Pollard echoed the same message, saying the government and Buckingham Palace have been working together to prevent Andrew from “potentially being a heartbeat away from the throne,” as other political headlines, including Trump warning to Iran, continue to draw attention.

Pressure Grows to Remove Former Prince Andrew From the Line of Succession https://t.co/RS6Wu1iDPs

— TOWN&COUNTRY (@TandCmag) February 21, 2026

Pollard said he hopes any action would receive cross-party support, but emphasized it is something that would only happen when the police investigation concludes. The comments underscore that, while officials are weighing options, the matter is tied to the outcome of an active process rather than an immediate policy decision.

King Charles III also addressed the situation in a statement from Buckingham Palace. He said he had learned with the “deepest concern” of the news regarding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the suspicion of misconduct in public office, while stressing the need for a “full, fair and proper process.”

The King said authorities would receive “full and wholehearted support and co-operation,” adding that “the law must take its course,” and that it would not be right to comment further while the investigation continues. The broader public response has also played out alongside viral flashpoints, including Home Depot CEO pricing dispute, that have kept attention on how quickly online narratives spread.

The last time a royal was formally removed from the line of succession was in 1936, after King Edward VIII abdicated. That required a change in law that removed him and any descendants from the succession list, underscoring the historical and legal weight of the step being discussed now.

Andrew has faced public scrutiny for years over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations from Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who said Andrew had sex with her when she was 17. Andrew has repeatedly denied the allegations.

In October 2025, Andrew said he would no longer use his title or the honors conferred upon him. Later that month, Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles had initiated a formal process to remove Andrew’s style, titles, and honors, and that he would be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. Andrew remains in the line of succession as the police investigation continues following his February 19 arrest and release.

100+ Avatars, Virtual Fishing & Old-School Second Life Nostalgia

100+ Avatars, Virtual Fishing & Old-School Second Life Nostalgia

I just had one of those streams, you know, the kind where you log in to chill and it ends up being way more than you expected. I spent an hour virtual fishing at The Notorious Kingdom in Second Life, and honestly, I’ve never seen so many people fishing at once. The counter in world hit over 100 avatars on the region at one point! That’s not just a group, that’s a whole mini-festival of fishers and chatters all casting lines and hanging out.

Fishing in Second Life has always been one of those strangely addictive traffic games. People show up, they camp, they reel, they chat, and the region stays busy. Speaking of camping, that got me talking about the good old days of camping pads and camping chairs. If you were in Second Life back then, you know the deal, you’d sit on a chair or dance on a pad and earn Linden Dollars just for being there. It was basically virtual pay for sitting, and believe me, some people made it an art form.

Those days were wild. Traffic generators were everywhere, you’d find places paying people just to dance, sit, or pretend to fish. Even now, those fishing games still work the same magic: lots of avatars, lots of traffic, lots of in-world economics. It’s fascinating to see how people still enjoy these spaces and manage to turn them into virtual events with their own little economies.

But in the middle of all that calm fishing and chatting, I somehow ended up on a tangent about my National ID, don’t ask how it came up, it just did. I’ve been waiting forever for mine, and I had strong opinions about that whole process. It was funny, it was personal, and it definitely made the stream more me.

In the end, this livestream wasn’t just about catching fish, it was about connecting with people in a shared virtual world, laughing about nostalgia, and casually ranting about life stuff. If you ever want a break from reality that’s chill, fun, and sometimes totally random, virtual fishing in Second Life might just be your thing too.

Kingdom Hearts: A Kingdom for EVERY Heart

My favorite part of the Kingdom Hearts franchise has always been the incredible diversity of all of the characters that make it up. Gaming icons such as Cloud Strife and Auron from the Final Fantasy series battle alongside Disney’s Donald and Goofy… all while exploring levels based on films featuring cinematic icons like Jack Sparrow or Tron. But this incredible mix of complicated protagonists and larger-than-life cartoon characters works because they’re all serving the same story in different ways… saving the world takes a team who understands that the things that make each of them unique and different from each other is what gives this team its strength.

We’re all called to serve the same Lord, but we will each serve Him in different ways… and the uniqueness of our calling and purpose means it will look different for every one of us. The diverse ministries of John the Baptist and Jesus meant that one of them lived off of locusts and honey in the desert while the other ate and drank with those He was sent to save… each of them served the same kingdom in different ways based on the specific calling they were given by the Father. Rather than expect every member of this team to follow Christ in an identical manner, let’s embrace the way we’ve been gifted to serve Him… as a kingdom of unique hearts joined together as one.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has a demon.” The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!” But wisdom is justified by her children. Matthew 11:18-19

For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them. Romans 12:4-5a

The pure and scattered beauty of modern Zelda

I was in the gift shop of a small art gallery the other day when I bought a postcard depicting a bunch of different keys. The postcard turned out to be a reproduction from the six-volume dictionary and encyclopedia Larousse du XXe siècle (me neither) and the keys come in a gorgeous range of shapes and sizes. The Roman key is broad and boot-shaped. The Merovingian looks like part of a crank.

Level Up with ESRB: Talkin’ Ratings – Family Game Time

Whether through board games, pen-and-paper RPGs, or video games – gaming has always been a part of our household.  Like most families, we also watch movies and television together, but the interactive nature of playing video games is something that we truly cherish.

I fondly remember when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild first came out, and both of my daughters were old enough to play.  The original game, The Legend of Zelda, was one of the first games I had when I was around their age and it was nice to share that with them.  Even though it’s a single-player game, the three of us sat on the couch battling monsters and trying to solve puzzles together. We took turns trying different strategies, while the other two shouted out suggestions.  We were talking, laughing, using our brains, and practicing how to share.

But not all games are appropriate for kids.  When they were younger, they were very curious about a different game I was playing that also involved riding around on horseback.  That game was Skyrim.  Skyrim is rated M for Mature and has plenty of content that isn’t appropriate for young kids.  I did, however, let my oldest sit on my lap and ride around on the horse.  If she ran into a combat situation, we paused the game and I explained that some parts weren’t for her before she would scoot off, somewhat disappointed that it wasn’t just a horse-riding simulator.

From their very earliest years, they knew that some games were for them – and some weren’t (yet).  They also knew that their father was not only making that determination as their dad, but also was behind the black-and-white letter that was on the front of the game’s box.

What Makes Up a Rating?

Most parents’ jobs don’t involve evaluating video games for age appropriateness. But that is precisely what I do for a living at the ESRB as its Senior Vice President of Ratings. ESRB assigns age and content rating information to video games and apps to help parents decide which products are appropriate for their kids.

An explanation of ESRB's three-part rating system. Includes Rating Categories, Content Descriptors, and Interactive Elements.

There are three parts to the system:

Rating Category
The Rating Category suggests whether a game may be appropriate for a certain age group. That doesn’t necessarily mean the game is designed or intended for that age group — just that the content is suitable. There are plenty of E-rated games that might still be too challenging or complex for a young child.

Content Descriptors
These provide more detail about what players will encounter in a game and ultimately what content led to the Rating Category assignment. In the case of Breath of the Wild, one of the Descriptors is Fantasy Violence. That means the game includes combat or action sequences that aren’t realistic or something you’d encounter in everyday life — such as battling a rock monster rather than a human foe. On the other hand, Skyrim has a Descriptor for Intense Violence signaling to parents that the violence is more graphic and/or realistic looking.

Interactive Elements
While not relevant to all games, Interactive Elements inform parents about non-content features that may be important to know before their child plays a game. For example, if a game allows players to communicate with others, you’ll see “Users Interact.” If it offers in-game spending, you’ll see “In-Game Purchases” or “In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items).” These notices help families understand the kinds of interactions or transactions a game may include, allowing parents to plan ahead, discuss household rules around video games, and set parental controls to back them up.

For physical, boxed games, ESRB also provides Rating Summaries — short paragraphs that go a step deeper to describe in more detail the content of the game and the context in which it is presented to the player. These are especially helpful for parents who want more insight into why a game received its specific Rating Category and Content Descriptors.

Staying Involved

Sharing time in front of the TV with a controller in hand has created some of our most memorable family moments.  Lately, we’ve been playing through The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (the sequel to Breath of the Wild).  Their hand-eye coordination has now surpassed my own. They are more likely to take the controller away from me instead of relying on me to get them through.  They’re growing up.

Playing together has helped us stay connected and maintain open communication about games — what they’re about, why we enjoy them, and what’s appropriate for different ages. When parents understand what their kids love about games, it becomes easier to set household rules around playtime, online interactions, and spending.

For example, my younger daughter has been increasingly interested in Roblox over the past few years. Talking with her about why some of the experiences on Roblox resonated with her helped us talk about appropriate online interactions with others, what’s off limits, and more. For more information on establishing household rules and starting constructive conversations around video games visit ESRB’s Family Gaming Guide.

As mentioned, if you’re looking for a way to reinforce household rules, nearly every device that can play games — from consoles to smartphones — includes built-in parental controls.

These tools make it simple to:

  • Manage what your kids can play, based on the ESRB-assigned age rating.
  • Set time limits and control when games can be played.
  • Restrict with whom they can communicate.
  • Limit or block the ability to make in-game purchases.

Visit ParentalTools.org for step-by-step parental controls guides to help parents get started setting controls.

Ultimately, playing games together led to a lot of quality time for me with my daughters, and it’s one of the best ways to connect as a family.

Man walked through 9/11, a pandemic, and a war zone over 27 years, and now he’s on the final stretch of an incredible journey

Karl Bushby is getting close to finishing his 27-year walk around the world. He only has about 2,000 miles left before he gets back to the UK. This amazing trip started back in 1998 when Bushby left Chile, and honestly, his commitment makes almost every social media challenge today look pretty easy.

We see people trying crazy things online all the time now. There’s the Hardest Geezer running across Africa or that guy trying to drink 2,000 pints in 200 days. Those are hard, but Bushby’s walk makes them look like an easy Sunday stroll. This British explorer is now 56 years old and has walked over 30,000 miles so far. He makes Forrest Gump’s famous run across America look like a quick jog around the block.

What makes Bushby’s success so amazing is how long he’s stuck with this goal. He made two rules for himself when he started. According to Lad Bible, he wouldn’t use any mechanical transport, and he wouldn’t go home until he got back to the UK completely on foot. He was so serious about it that he even told his family he wouldn’t come home for a funeral. That’s real dedication right there.

Walking through history’s biggest moments

Over the last three decades, Bushby has walked through some of the biggest world events in recent history. He saw the millennium celebrations happen, he kept walking after the 9/11 attacks, and he pushed through the whole coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic alone would have made most people jump on the first flight home, but Bushby just kept going.

The September 11 attacks remain one of the most defining moments in modern history, and the tragedy continues to spark debates today. Some have even accused leaders of whitewashing foreign governments’ 9/11 connections, while others have criticized politicians for mocking emotional 9/11 survivor stories. But Bushby simply kept walking through it all.

🇬🇧 27 YEARS, 30,000 MILES, ALMOST HOME – BRITISH MAN WALKS AROUND THE WORLD

Karl Bushby left Chile 27 years ago on foot and still hasn’t stopped.

He’s walked 30,000 miles, dodged war zones, crossed the Bering Strait, swam the Caspian Sea, and might now swim the English… pic.twitter.com/MRHkNgxIbM

— Mario Nawfal (@MarioNawfal) November 24, 2025

His route started in Chile, went up through the Americas, across to Russia, then through Asia, and now he’s heading back to the UK. This walk hasn’t been easy at all, and he’s faced some really scary problems. He’s walked through a war zone, almost got attacked by a polar bear, and had to swim 186 miles in just one month last year to cross the Caspian Sea. That swimming part sounds terrible. I think I’ll stick to using a ferry, thanks.

It’s really impressive that he started this challenge when modern technology didn’t exist like it does now. When he left in 1998, he didn’t have Google Maps or a smartphone to help him find his way.
