Skydance Games and Amy Hennig's upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed once again, and will no longer hit its previously announced early 2026 release window, the studio announced today. It's the second major game delay to be announced today, with Grand Theft Auto VI's delay understandably taking up most of the oxygen. Skydance Games even made its announcement five minutes before Rockstar Games' post went live. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Skydance Games wrote, "Our goal is to deliver unforgettable, premium games that honor the characters and the worlds we're fortunate to work with. Marvel […]

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has now been delayed beyond early 2026

Perhaps hoping to bury their bad news behind the GTA 6 delay, Skydance Games has announced that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed beyond its early 2026 window and has no new release date or window.

In a classic apology text image announcement thing – do these have a technical term? –  the team writes:

“At Skydance Games, our goal is to deliver unforgettable, premium games that honor the characters and worlds we’re fortunate to work with. MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect.

“To fully realize our vision for MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026.

“We’re grateful for the passion and support from the community and players around the world. The team is working hard to create something truly special, and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.”

It’s another significant setback to the Amy Hennig-led superhero game. Announced in March of last year, after originally been teased in 2021, the initial target was a  2025 release… but outside of the cinematic reveal trailer last summer, we’ve heard and seen precious little about this game.

You’ve just got to hope they weren’t planning on a November 2026 release, because… that’d be a bit awkward now, wouldn’t it?

Taking the superhero fight back to World War 2, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will have four playable characters with the perspectives switching between Captain America, Black Panther, Nanali, and Gabriel Jones. This will give different gameplay aspects too, with Nanali likely having much more sneaking and spying compared to the other characters.

The cast for the game includes Khary Payton as Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the Black Panther in this game’s timeline, Drew Moerlein taking on the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America, Megalyn Echikunwoke portraying Nanali, a Wakandan spy, Marque Richardson lending his voice to Gabriel Jones, a member of the Howling Commandos, Lyne Renée voicing Julie, a member of the French Resistance, and Howard Stark, Tony Stark’s father, is being voiced by Joel Johnstone.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed again, this time without a new release window

Last night was a bumper time for games being delayed yet again, with Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra quickly following in GTA 6's probably rather expensive shoes. Skydance New Media have now pushed the release of their superhero game "beyond early 2026", with no concrete new release target given.

Rise of Hydra was previously delayed from what looked like it'd be a release around Christmas 2025 to early next year, with Skydance citing a need to spend more time polishing their World War 2-era costumed capers.

Highly Anticipated Marvel PS5 Game Delayed Indefinitely

7. Listopad 2025 v 05:29
PS5 game Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

GTA 6 isn’t the only game that was delayed today as a promising upcoming PS5 Marvel title also met the same fate yet again. Things aren’t looking too good for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra because Skydance Media has delayed the game indefinitely this time.

PS5 game Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is being written by Uncharted’s Amy Hennig

Written by Amy Hennig, Todd Stashwick, and Marc Bernardin, Rise of Hydra was announced in 2021, and was originally given a release window of 2025. However, earlier this year, players were promised an early 2026 launch.

That all changed tonight when Skydance announced another delay, and had no new release window to share, causing some concern.

A standard “quality” reason was given for the delay.

“Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect,” Skydance wrote. “To fully realize our vision for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026.”

Skydance went on to thank fans for their support, and promised to create “something truly special.”

We won’t be too surprised if Rise of Hydra ends up launching on the PS6. In the meanwhile, we have Insomniac Games’ Wolverine to look forward to in 2026.
