Fans were jubilant when Persona 3 received a remake earlier this year, but this turned to disappointment when it became clear its Episode Aigis epilogue DLC was not included. Multiple versions of Persona 3 have been released since the game's initial PS2 launch in 2006 - namely Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable, each with unique additions. The release of this year's Persona 3 Reload was an opportunity to provide the definitive version of the game, but without Episode Aigis fans were upset it would remain incomplete.

That's why Atlus relented and has now additionally remade Episode Aigis: The Answer with all the trappings of Reload - though no doubt the fact it's the fastest-selling Atlus game ever was also persuasive. Finally, fans will get the complete story experience they've craved (though still without the alternative female protagonist from P3P). But after going hands-on with the DLC, I'm still left with a lingering question: what exactly was the main game missing?

I played Persona 3 for the first time this year and really enjoyed its twisted teen drama, even if the series as a whole is starting to feel formulaic. Yet after receiving the true ending, the story felt complete and I wasn't left with unanswered questions. So what kind of answer can The Answer provide?

During Gamescom Opening Night Live, it was revealed the Persona 3 Reload: Expansion Pass will include a DLC boss fight with Joker from Persona 5.

The pass will include the DLC Episode Aigis: The Answer, which was part of Persona 3 FES back in 2007. The Answer takes place after the best ending of Persona 3 Reload. The SEES team sees itself stuck at the dorm in a time loop. A new character Metis shows up to join forces, who is a robot like Aegis. It sounds just like the plot of Happy Death Day.

In addition, a Challenge Battle with Joker will be available. It looks like he wields Arsène and other Personas to make your fight against him a living nightmare. If you played Persona 5 Royal, you would know these Challenge Battles are nothing new. In that title, you could face off against the protagonists of Persona 3 and Persona 4. Maybe we will see a scuffle between the future hero of Persona 6 against the cast of Persona 4 whenever that game gets remade.

The Persona 3 Reload: Expansion Pass will launch on September 10.

The news came as part of the Persona Live Tour 2024 concert in Yokohama, during which developer Atlus confirmed when the "final set of content for the Expansion Pass" will be available across all platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and last-gen consoles. Valve's Steam Deck is a highly capable piece of kit, often reaching parity with last-gen consoles at ~720p, while more demanding current-gen efforts can prove quite playable as well - even including some of the top-end Unreal Engine 5 titles. The RDNA2 graphics hardware inside the Deck is even capable of ray tracing, though this support has largely been dormant in SteamOS. That's started to change over the last year, with first Vulkan and then DXR-enabled titles running under Proton with RT enabled - and RT performance has seen big boosts as well.

Today we're taking a look at the state of play when it comes to RT on Steam Deck, looking at some of the best-looking PC titles to see whether they can be playable with RT engaged. Can we get good frame-rates even with demanding ray tracing settings? And how does the Valve's handheld compare in performance terms against the more powerful ROG Ally?

The most obvious place to start is with the Steam Deck is some of the easier ray tracing workloads available - and I think Doom Eternal is a good first choice. The game runs well with minimal settings tweakery: 720p resolution, medium settings and RT toggled on. Relative to the non-RT version of the game, we get solid (if somewhat low-res and slightly ghostly) reflections on glossy surfaces, with very different material properties when RT is enabled. This makes for a transformative difference in scenes with glossy materials, though an aggressive roughness cutoff means that semi-gloss materials are largely bereft of RT treatment.

A new line of Persona 3 Reload merchandise for disaster prevention featuring SEES motifs and a first-aid poach inspired by Koromaru is now available for pre-order from Movic. The SEES merchandise will release in Fall 2024, while the poach is set to release in July 26, 2024. [Thanks, PR Times!]

Pre-orders for the new merchandise items close on May 22, 2024. The Persona 3 Reload SEES Disaster Prevention Set costs 17,600 yen (or about $113.83.) The set includes a SEES backpack that also features two Gekkoukan High School logo pin badges, and two SEES pin badges. The backpack also includes a hand crank light, water bag, rescue sheet, an Aid-Team 2 emergency kit, emergency toilet sheets, masks, a SEES hand towel, and a P3R protagonist postcard.

Meanwhile, the Koromaru First-Aid Poach costs 3,520 yen (~$22.77.) The poach is designed to imitate the same poach that Koromaru carries in his battle outfit in the new Persona 3 Reload remake.

Persona 3 Reload is receiving an expansion pass, adding the much-requested expansion The Answer.

The remake was criticised for not including all expansions from previous versions of the game, though dataminers discovered hints of this expansion pass last week.

As announced at tonight's Xbox Partner Preview, Episode Aigis is coming in September 2024 as the third wave of the expansion pass.

Kazuhisa Wada, the producer for Persona 3 Reload, uploaded a developer message discussing the Episode Aigis: The Answer DLC. You can watch the message, with English subtitles via the official Atlus Twitter (X) account.

In his statement, Wada explained that Episode Aigis takes place after the main game, as well as gives context on the history of The Answer. The Answer first appeared in Persona 3 FES, which was an expanded and enhanced version of Persona 3 similar to Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal. Because Persona 3 Reload is a faithful remake of Persona 3, he felt that the game would not be complete with Episode Aigis, which concludes the entire story.

According to Wada, the development team intended on including Episode Aigis as part of the base game. However, they were unable to do that for “challenging reasons,” and so gave it up. However, after Atlus announced Persona 3 Reload, many people around the world requested for The Answer to return. He is sure that The Answer will satisfy people who already played it, and those who will be experiencing it for the first time.

Fans are hopeful that expansion The Answer will come to Persona 3 Reload after dataminers discovered references to DLC.

Persona 3 Reload released last month as a remake of the 2006 original. However, it was criticised for being incomplete without the inclusion of The Answer expansion and the female protagonist featured in revised versions Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable.

The latest hint to an expansion comes from YouTuber Faz (thanks PCGamer), who discovered an in-game message for completing the game on the highest Merciless difficulty (or at least using a cheat engine to skip ahead).

Cospa opened up pre-orders for cosplay uniforms of Gekkoukan High School from Persona 3 Reload. You’ll be able to use these outfits as part of a costume.

Atlus helped to supervise the outfits’ creations, so you can be sure that they’re authentic recreations. All of the details of the designs are on the uniforms. There is a boy version, as well as a girl version. As a note, Cospa does not offer the top and the bottom as a set. You’ll need to purchase them separately. As another note, the male uniform is cheaper than the female one for whatever reason. The male top costs 52,800 JPY ($351.20) and the bottom costs 17,600 JPY ($117.05). Meanwhile, the female top costs 61,600 JPY ($409.70) and the bottom costs $20,350 ($135.35).

The Gekkoukan High School uniform in Persona 3 Reload is on the plain side, much like the uniform for Yasogami High School. It features a black blazer jacket over a white shirt, with the school’s crest over the chest. The guys have a black ribbon and the girls have a larger red one. You can also personalize the way that you wear the uniforms, much like the characters in the game. For example, Fuuka wears a different shirt underneath the blazer and Yukari wears a pink sweater instead of her blazer.

A new Persona 3 Reload mod changes the main character in the game to the Female MC Kotone Shiomi. The mod is currently being worked on and updated, but it already exists in a playable state.

The mod currently adds a new Kotone Shiomi model for the main character in P3R, new custom animations for her, and exclusive female voice lines for the English dub. The mod even changes the blue color scheme of the game's menu to the original Female MC pink color scheme that appeared in Persona 3 Portable. Additionally, many of the UI elements have been replaced with pink and the Kotone model.

However, Kotone still uses Makoto’s sword weapons instead of her naginata weapons from P3P, and the battle UI elements are still tinted blue. The FeMC Reloaded Team is currently working on custom physics for the skirt and hair. The team’s goal is to replace all 3D assets and 2D interface elements with the Female MC. This means that the Female MC Social Links will not be modded and added to the game.
