After revealing that the writing is on the wall, the known AA publisher and accessory maker Nacon has filed for insolvency, putting the company in jeopardy.
Last week, it was reported that Bigben Interactive (Nacon’s parent company) was facing serious financial issues that were affecting its subsidiaries’ businesses. According to a Traxion report, Nacon temporarily suspended trading in its shares last week, as its dire financial straits forced it to restructure to continue operations. Bigben Interactive reportedly struggled to pay a 43 million euro debt to bondholders, and these financial issues have hit a boiling point.
The Mound: Omen of Cthulu
This boiling point has forced Nacon to announce that the company has filed for insolvency. The company holds 16 development studios and a publishing arm under its banner, and the filing puts the entire company (including those studios) in jeopardy. The announcement reads, “The aim of this procedure is to assess all possible solutions to ensure the sustainability of the Company’s activity under the best possible conditions, protect employees, and preserve jobs, while renegotiating with its creditors in a calm and constructive framework,” and the filing will help achieve this.
With the filing, the company would be able to continue operating its business and develop a payment plan to effectively pull it out of debt. If not, insolvency can lead to bankruptcy; the more severe possibility is business liquidation. The developer and peripheral maker has notably announced that it will air its next Nacon Connect presentation on March 4 this month, which will include new game announcements and presentations for previously announced games such as Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, The Mound: Omen of Cthulu, and Edge of Memories.
As of this posting, Nacon has not determined whether the showcase is also in jeopardy, or whether these filings will stall the 1.0 release of Greedfall 2: The Dying World (which was scheduled to launch March 12). But as it stands, things aren’t looking good for the company.

What is Styx: Blades of Greed?
Developed by Cyanide Studio and published by Nacon, Styx: Blades of Greed is the third entry in the action-adventure series, which began with 2014’s Styx: Master of Shadows. All three entries serve as prequels to Cyanide Studio’s fantasy action RPG, Of Orcs and Men, which was released for the PS3 in 2012.

Styx: Blades of Greed has a strong fantasy flavour, which can be surprisingly hard to find in stealth games, but it’s not impossible. This list includes a mix of modern stealth titles, covering everything from fantasy assassins to tactical infiltration and classic stealth experiences.
We’re very excited about Styx giving us a proper new entry in the genre, make no mistake, but these games should help scratch that stealth itch in the meantime.
While some recent Assassin’s Creed games have leaned more into action-RPG mechanics, Assassin’s Creed Shadows brings stealth back to the forefront.
Set in Japan, you’ll switch between a ninja and a samurai as you progress through the story, tackling enemies in different ways depending on your playstyle. It’s a stunningly beautiful game with tons of stylish stealth options in a world packed with wonder.
Hitman: World of Assassination is basically the pinnacle of the series. It keeps the franchise’s signature humour while offering an absurd number of ways to complete each mission.
With a huge selection of locations, endless creative assassinations, and just as many ways to fail spectacularly, it’s one of the most flexible stealth sandboxes ever made.
Dishonored 2 is somehow 10 years old this year… try not to think about that too hard.
If you’re looking for a stealth game with a fantasy vibe, this is one of the best picks. You play as a supernatural assassin, and while you can go non-lethal, the world reacts dynamically to your choices. Few stealth games offer this level of player-driven world impact.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain turned ten last year, which is also not worth dwelling on.
While the entire Metal Gear series is great for stealth fans, this is arguably the best entry to dive into today. Its open-world design gives you unmatched freedom, and the huge range of tools lets you approach every mission in wildly different ways.
If you’d rather go 2D, Mark of the Ninja: Remastered is essential.
This modernised version of the classic stealth platformer features improved visuals and smoother gameplay, all wrapped in a gorgeous art style. It’s packed with clever mechanics and stylish stealth options that evolve as you progress.
Aragami 2 has you controlling a superpowered ninja from the shadow clan with a very simple job: be extremely good at killing things quietly.
Teleporting through shadows is a highlight, but the real standout feature is co-op. Sneaking through levels with a friend is incredibly fun! (Assuming your friend is actually stealthy and not a walking alarm bell.)
Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew mixes stealth with strategy, giving you a top-down tactical view of your crew’s actions.
You’ll coordinate multiple characters, time their abilities perfectly, and pull off elaborate stealth plays. Plus, you’re a pirate commanding a ghost ship. Which is objectively very cool.
Final Thoughts
Whether you want fantasy stealth, open-world infiltration, or tactical team-based sneaking, these games should keep you busy until Styx: Blades of Greed arrives.
Boy am I glad to see Styx again. Not because I felt any great yearning to return to the murky, Temu-Warhammer dark fantasy setting of long-forgotten RPG Of Orcs and Men, you understand. But because Blades of Greed represents an ever dwindling chunk of ore from that once rich seam of B-tier games that are just bloody good at what they do. The zenith of the "shorter games with worse graphics" category that people on Bluesky claim to want (and rarely seem to actively seek out, alas).
A nice, juicy nine-minute-long Styx: Blades of Greed gameplay trailer has been plucked from the tree of stealth games today. Juicy in the sense that nine minutes is plenty of time to help ascertain whether a game looks like it could be fun, yet if we're sticking with this metaphor this is one of those apples that's really good but has a nasty bruise on it you have to avoid.
"Where the hell did that goblin go?" asks a mean knight of some sort whose English accent is of questionable authenticity at the beginning of the latest trailer for Styx: Blades of Greed. This is a reasonable question! When the goblin stealth game was revealed earlier this year, it was slated for a 2025 release, except the rest of the year is in very short supply. So, this trailer acts as a double way: a confirmation of a delay, and the announcement of a proper release date.
