Killer Klowns From Outer Space Vs Dead By Daylight – A New Challenger Has Arrived

Every time a new asymmetrical horror multiplayer is released, the gaming community jumps to the same conclusion: this game is here to compete with Dead By Daylight. Dead By Daylight is a titan among men at this point. For every player who moans the game is ‘dead’ or threatens to stop playing, hundreds more choose to play it before any other game. So, now a new multiplayer horror game has entered the ring.

Will Killer Klowns Challenge Dead By Daylight in a Battle of the Horror Multiplayer?

Bluntly, no. As experience has shown, Dead By Daylight can have a dip in player numbers while people try out the new kid on the block, but we all know what happens next. It happened with VHS (RIP, gone too soon) and then again with Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Although I hear people still play Texas, I can’t think why. It became repetitive and dull after the first week. Dead By Daylight’s fanbase is strong and, for the most part, loyal. It would take something pretty astounding to tear themselves from the Entity’s claws. Those bad boys are stuck in deep.

Asymmetrical horror games are one of gaming’s biggest modern trends. If you can think of a renowned horror IP, there’s a good chance it’s got a video game adaption. In the past two years alone we’ve seen games based on Evil Dead, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Ghostbusters, all within the asymmetrical multiplayer subgenre.

Next on that conveyor belt is Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game. Developed by IllFonic, it takes the cult 80s horror movie and spins it into its own multiplayer experience. Does it have what it takes to distinguish itself in a reasonably bloated subgenre, or will it go the way of Friday the 13th and Evil Dead by taking an early closure?

How multiplayer horror Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game does away with downtime

Upon learning of the existence of asymmetrical multiplayer horror Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, from Friday the 13th and Predator Hunting Grounds’ Illfonic and Teravision Games, you’d be forgiven for having, well, questions. The first of which, understandably if you don’t happen to carry a burning penchant for cultishly adored but undeniably niche 80’s schlock, is simple: Why? First, why get invested in another asymmetrical multiplayer game from a studio that has a bit of a history with limited shelf lives? And why, of all the licenses, have they chosen one so relatively forgotten, at least in comparison to Predator, Ghostbusters, and Friday the 13th?
