Rust’s Naval update will be launching on February 5th

Rust’s next major update is going to be released on February 5th, Facepunch Studios has announced as part of Rust’s 12th anniversary roundup. That update is the Naval update and it is going to be adding new content like player made boats that will allow players to sail across the deep seas to find new islands and monuments, along with new encounters. If you want to try the Naval update early, you can do so by joining the Rust Staging Branch, which is the game’s insider program.

In addition, Facepunch Studios has confirmed it will continue to release updates on the first Thursday of every month, though some will be lighter than others. The development team has also confirmed what else Rust players can expect over the course of 2026 in terms of new content, including new animals like cows and sheep as well as a dedicated animal breeding program. There will also be new monuments, including an apartment complex, and improvements to player animations, looks and movements. The team will also be looking at previous content that has been released that has not been popular and will explore ways to rework them to fit into the current Rust experience.

When it comes to DLC, Facepunch will continue to release new items or skins almost every month, with a dedicated DLC team working on these. Additionally, the studio has announced it is looking into a battle pass system for Rust, but this is still in early planning and it may not materialise if it does not prove to be valuable or rewarding to players. When it comes cheating in Rust, Facepunch Studios is looking to hire more support staff and developers focused solely on supporting anti-cheat methods, along with a new anti-cheat layer that should be coming in 2026. Performance is another area that the team continues to look at as it tries to balance new content with already existing game structures. One of the key improvements in 2025 saw load and server connection times reduced by around 65%. Finally, Rust Mobile is also due to be released this year though a release date has not yet been confirmed.

Fallout 76’s Burning Springs update is live with the bleakest Ohio in a video game yet

3. Prosinec 2025 v 18:30
This first week of December just keeps racking up updates for MMOs and MMO-adjacent games, and that includes Fallout 76, which yesterday rather quietly updated with, you know, Ohio. OK, not all of Ohio – just the southeastern part that serves as the setting for the Burning Springs release. “A new region of the map […]

Rust Console Edition’s winter-themed update launches Nov 27

24. Listopad 2025 v 17:00

Winter is coming, and with it a brand new free content update for Rust Console Edition. Releasing November 27 on PS5 and PS5 Pro, this update completely transforms the snow biome, adding a chilling new monument, a new vehicle and a dangerous apex predator patrolling the ice. In addition to which, new DLCs will be available on PlayStation Store on the same day, and throughout December survivors can jump into the island for festive events, exclusive skins and plenty of true Rust chaos.

Secrets buried in the snow

For a long time the snowy part of the island was reserved for the bravest of survivors, a place where the unforgiving cold did most of the killing before other players even showed up. Now something has changed. A new Arctic Base monument has appeared, a large research outpost planted deep in the white by a mysterious scientist crew that turns this frozen region into a true hotspot.

Inside, you will push through armed scientists who guard the area, work your way past puzzle doors and sweep room after room for valuable loot. The layout is full of tight corridors, side rooms and sneaky sightlines that are perfect for setting up ambushes or falling straight into one.

Snowmobiles and bear claws

Survive the Arctic Base and you might leave with more than just loot. The Snowmobile is fast, loud and the perfect way to slice across the snow biome. There is just one problem. These machines tend to attract a lot of unwanted attention, and polar bears now roam these frozen parts of the island. They patrol the biome, hit much harder than regular bears and love catching distracted survivors out in the open. For well equipped players they are walking resources, for everyone else they are a clear reminder that the snow is no longer just a quiet place to hide.

The coldest DLC

Alongside the free update we are also bringing two winter themed DLC packs to Rust Console Edition on PlayStation, the Arctic pack and the Ice King pack.

The Arctic pack is all about staying alive in the cold, with the Arctic Hazmat Suit trading a bit of radiation protection for serious chill resistance so long snow runs and late night ambushes feel much safer.

The Ice King pack is for survivors who want the whole server to know who owns the mountain, with frosty gear and the coldest of thrones.
