Sega's Eternal Champions is the next video game franchise to get a silver-screen adaptation.

Whilst it's hardly surprising that filmmakers are still rooting through video game catalogues for ideas, I can't say I had Sega's 1993 fighting game on my bingo card for the next series to be getting an adaptation.

However, according to Hollywood Reporter, that's exactly what's happening, with Jurassic World trilogy writer Derek Connolly set to write the live-action screenplay.

Amazon Video is reportedly developing a new adult-animated anthology series based on video games called Secret Level.

According to Deadline's sources, the same team behind Amazon's Love, Death & Robots series has also signed up to create original short stories "set within the worlds of beloved video games, such as Amazon Games' New World, Spelunky, and unspecified "PlayStation titles."

The show will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Tim Miller's Blur studio. Dave Wilson has apparently signed on to serve as supervising director and executive producer.

The upcoming time-travelling shooter – which also features tower defense and strategy elements – announced today that it was "making its way to the big screen."

Publisher tinyBuild says it's partnered with Story Kitchen to "tell a unique story and establish the IP."

Whilst it remains unclear how, exactly, the movie will account for the game's myriad of deaths, survivals, and endings, Stormare's casting at least hints that Supermassive's trademark player "guide" will be making an appearance.

Netflix's BioShock adaptation has been "reconfigured" to be a "more personal" film with a tighter budget.

That's according to producer Roy Lee, who told fans at a panel at San Diego Comic-Con that changes at the top of Netflix's movie department have seen the budget streamlined.

"The new regime has lowered the budgets," Lee added, as reported by Variety.

The live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is being developed in "as closest possible collaboration" with the "true genius" of Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto.

In an interview with Deadline, as spotted by The Gamer, Sony Motion Pictures Group chair Tom Rothman stressed the importance of "big IP movies" for the company, asserting that "The Legend of Zelda is going to be huge for us".

"He’s a true genius in that world, and it’s really his strong vision that is motivating it," Rothman said of Miyamoto. "He created it and understands it thoroughly. You only [have] to look at the results of Super Mario Brothers to see.

The upcoming Mortal Kombat film sequel has secured itself a release date.

New Line Cinema's Mortal Kombat 2 will arrive in cinemas on 24th October, 2025, Deadline reports. It will also play in Imax.

In response to this news, the film's producer Todd Garner said this somewhat far-off release date was not simply to do with how long the project is in post production. "There are numerous factors that come into play such as competitive releases, the studio's slate, marketing focus, audience availability, etc, etc, as well as availability of Imax screens," Garner wrote on social media platform X.

Amazon Prime's original Fallout show is "almost like Fallout 5".

That's according to showrunner Jonathan Nolan, who told Total Film that it was the idea of telling an original story set in the Fallout universe that got Bethesda and the team "most excited" about the idea of a TV Show.

"From the first conversation with Todd [Howard], we were most excited about an original story," Nolan said.
