Fable Is Reportedly Launching On PS5 Day And Date

10. Leden 2026 v 13:39
Upcoming Fable by Playground Games may launch simultaneously on Xbox, PC, and PS5 this year, according to a VGC podcast report. This aligns with Microsoft's trend towards multiplatform releases. Announcement expected on January 22nd showcase.

Fable Reportedly Also Coming To PS5, Xbox Developer Direct 26 To Feature ‘Secret Fourth Game’

Industry tipster Shinobi602 has claimed that the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct 26 will feature a fourth game in addition to the previously-confirmed lineup of Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation.

Referred to only as “a ‘secret’ fourth game” by the insider, VGC followed up this report with news that it will take the form of a “promising indie title from a third-party publisher.” So, make of that what you will, but it looks like we’re getting another reveal at the event.

Beyond that, VGC also mentions that Fable is “also in development for the PlayStation 5,” reiterating earlier reports that the upcoming fantasy-RPG is coming to Sony’s current-generation console. Back in January 2025, a report on Vadal claimed that Fable was among a number of Xbox-exclusives headed to PS5, which also included Killer Instinct and Starfield.

Following Fable’s delay to 2026, it was also claimed by NatetheHate that the title would come to Sony’s platform day-and-date with PC and Xbox.

Forza Horizon 6 is already confirmed to be coming to the PS5, although it won’t be arriving alongside the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. Beast of Reincarnation is also in development for Sony’s console.

Both Fable and Forza Horizon 6 are pencilled in to launch this year, so we should get release dates for both at Developer Direct, and we may also get a release date for Beast of Reincarnation.

Playground’s Fable Rumored to Launch Day & Date on PS5; Forza Horizon 6 Won’t Because It Just Wasn’t Ready

A scene from the game 'Fable' on PlayStation 5 shows two characters sharing a moment on a staircase while holding a sword.

British developer Playground Games will be the absolute star of the Xbox Developer Direct 2026, with the first in-depth look at the long-awaited Fable reboot and the proper reveal of Forza Horizon 6, a sequel to a massively successful game that is estimated to have been played by over 50 million users. Sure, there's also Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation and even a rumored 'secret' fourth game, but those two games are going to be the centerpiece of the showcase due to air on January 22. Officially, both Fable and Forza Horizon 6 are only announced for PC and Xbox […]

Xbox Developer Direct 2026 Features a ‘Secret’ Fourth Game, Says Insider

The image features Xbox DEVELOPER_DIRECT 2026, showing logos of Playground Games and Game Freak, with a schedule for January 22 at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM GMT.

Yesterday, Microsoft officially confirmed that the Xbox Developer Direct 2026 will feature three games: Playground's Fable reboot and Forza Horizon 6, and Game Freak's new Beast of Reincarnation intellectual property. However, out of three Xbox Developer Direct presentations, on two occasions there were also secret announcements that Microsoft held off until the actual show. The very first time, in 2023, there was the reveal and shadow drop of Tango Gameworks' Hi-Fi Rush, which was critically acclaimed but still proved insufficient to prevent Microsoft from shutting down the studio just over a year later. Thankfully, the Japanese developer was later resurrected […]

Xbox’s first 2026 showcase will finally show more Fable, plus Forza and one very interesting-looking RPG from former Pokémon devs

Beast of Reincarnation

The gaming year of 2026 begins in earnest in just a few weeks, Xbox announced today, confirming the date for its first Developer Direct showcase.

While today's New Game+ Showcase will show off many games coming in 2026, Microsoft is bringing out its big guns for the first Developer Direct of 2026, including two of its "big four" for the year: Fable and Forza Horizon 6.

Fable has seemingly been in development for ages, and Forza will always bring in a lot of hype. But for me, the third game of the showcase is the one I'm most interested in learning more about. Beast of Reincarnation, the action RPG first revealed last year, will finally get some more of the spotlight.

Beast of Reincarnation is a new title from Game Freak, a studio synonymous with the Pokémon franchise. But this looks to be something entirely new and different, and I have high hopes for whatever there is to show in a couple of weeks.

"In post-apocalyptic Japan, humanity’s last hope may rest with Emma and her loyal canine companion, Koo," the game's description says. "Explore what it means to be human in Beast of Reincarnation, an expansive one-person, one-dog action RPG built around demanding, technical combat. What awaits at journey’s end?"

Xbox teased that Game Freak will "reveal details of our protagonist Emma’s innovative plant manipulation actions and gameplay with her canine companion," so we should have a more concrete idea of what the game truly is like and about ahead of its launch sometime later this year.

A small peek at the game's gameplay from last year showed a glimpse of action combat and some of the aforementioned flora changes, and it certainly looks gorgeous and potentially full of promise. Add it to the list of 2026 games we can look forward to.

Fable is Launching Day-and-Date on PS5, But Forza Horizon 6 Apparently “Wasn’t Ready” – Rumor

This year’s Xbox Developer_Direct is on January 22nd, and Playground Games is bringing both of its big titles – Forza Horizon 6 and Fable. The former will receive its first-ever gameplay reveal while the latter gets a deep dive into its lovely fantasy world. Interestingly, while Forza Horizon 6 is PS5-bound at a later date, it seems that Fable could be a day-and-date multiplatform release.

This is according to VGC’s Andy Robinson, who shared on the site’s latest podcast, “Fable’s day and date. That’s what I’ve been told. Those are the sort of details where insiders misstep, right? Those are the sorts of details that can be changed a week before or a day before. The other stuff is kind of like a bit more set in stone. Yes, it’s coming to PlayStation 5.” Perhaps more intriguing is that the studio has reportedly been “targeting PS5 for a while.”

Why isn’t Forza Horizon 6 getting the same treatment, especially with how successful Forza Horizon 5 was on PS5? It’s also arguably the bigger brand, appealing to a larger spectrum of consumers. Robinson doesn’t know the “full story,” but heard that, allegedly, “It just wasn’t ready. I don’t know how true that is, because I mean, it’s going to be absolutely massive, but that game would be absolutely massive if it’s launching on everything day one, right? You’d kind of think that’s a bit of a hindrance for them.

“I mean, even Xbox stalwarts are starting to drift away from playing on the console now. It’ll have a humongous PC launch, but PS5, I mean, look at Indiana Jones: The Great Circle. It did so well when it came out on PS5 afterwards.” And yet here we are with Forza Horizon 6 arriving who-knows-when. That said, Robinson imagines that the team (which includes Turn 10 Studios) will “do their best to get that out as soon as they can.”

Fable is confirmed for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and hasn’t really had an extensive showing since its announcement in July 2020. Plenty of stories have circulated about development troubles, and though its delay from 2025 to 2026 didn’t inspire much confidence, Xbox Game Studios head Craig Duncan promised it would be “worth the wait.”

As for Forza Horizon 6, it’s finally taking the series to Japan while delivering Playground Games’ biggest map to date. You can expect seasons to play a major part in the gameplay, and there will be a “broad range” of cars, but the team is also looking at capturing the nation’s atmosphere in every possible way. The open-world racer is rumored to launch in the first half of 2026, which means a potential release date announcement during the Developer_Direct.

Our Most Wanted Games of 2026 – #20 to #16

8. Leden 2026 v 12:00

Having rattled off a multitude of our most wanted video game releases of 2026, let’s keep the train rolling. As we enter our top 20, we see the return of some familiar faces as well as some exciting new IP fresh out of Japan. Why don’t we kick off with our first Capcom game on the list?

20 – Pragmata

PS5, XSX|S, NSW2, PC – 24th April 2026

Originally thought to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Pragmata is a new sci-fi action adventure from the Monster Hunter and Street Fighter publisher. You play as Hugh and Diana, an astronaut and his android companion looking to uncover the mysteries of a lunar research station that has been overrun by hostile artificial intelligence. The protagonists have a symbiotic relationship that weaves its way into Pragmata’s combat, navigation, and puzzle-solving gameplay with Hugh doing the heavy lifting as Diana employs her hacking abilities right in the middle of battle.

To explain what that’s all about, we went hands on with Pragmata last year, writing in our preview of the curious blend of hacking and shooting gameplay, “Hacking enemies becomes a vital part of combat right away, as it’s used to open up their armour and expose weaknesses for you to blast away at with Hugh’s guns. This is far from a simple button tap, or even a button hold, but rather throws up a minigame for you to complete to launch the hack at the targeted enemy.”

There’s a demo currently available on PC, which will hopefully make its way to consoles ahead of its launch this Spring.

19 – Romeo Is A Dead Man

PS5, XSX|S, PC – 11th February 2026

The latest game to come from the wonderfully wacky mind of Suda51 and the Grasshopper Manufacture studio, Romeo Is A Dead Man knows its audience. Seriously, just go and watch the announcement trailer. For those who love the ultra-violent, super-stylish No More Heroes series, this feels like somewhat of an evolution, dialling the strangeness factor up to 11 as players assume the role of Romeo Stargazer, a reanimated space-time FBI agent tasked with hunting fugitives across the cosmos. The game already looks to have a memorably twisted cast of fun characters – let’s just hope that, amidst the on screen carnage, there’s a decent action game in there too.

18 – The Duskbloods

Nintendo Switch – TBC 2026

For the umpteenth time, no, this isn’t Bloodborne 2. Nintendo and FromSoftware certainly had us going there for a minute during their announcement of The Duskbloods for the Switch 2 Direct showcase. The gothic, Yharnam-like setting and haunting atmosphere seemed to suggest that Nintendo had somehow swept Bloodborne out of Sony’s clutches, but this wasn’t the case.

As a FromSoftware joint, The Duskbloods will naturally inherit some of that Bloodborne DNA, though there are some key distinctions. Firstly, there are vampires. Secondly, it’s a primarily multiplayer game, featuring online PvPvE. Following the success of Elden Ring: Nightreign, it will be interesting to watch FromSoftware continue to pursue its live service gaming ambitions alongside its more traditional brand of action RPG.

17 – Fable

XSX|S, PC – TBC 2026

Oh, to have the patience of a Fable superfan. It’s been 15 long years since the last main entry in this once-beloved Xbox series and while Fable wasn’t perfect (missing many of the lofty features promised by zany franchiser frontman, Peter Molyneux) it felt like a mainstay in the RPG. Until it completely vanished, of course, leaving behind a trail of half-baked spin-offs and the wisp of dream that one day we might see a Fable 4. The wait is finally almost over, hopefully, with a sequel or reboot scheduled to launch sometime this year.

Besides some pre-alpha footage we’ve seen very little of the game in action, though it looks to retain that familiar high fantasy vibe with plenty of witty humour and monster-slaying as players return to Albion.

16 – Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

PS5, XSX|S, PC – TBC 2026

It’s hard to imagine that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be celebrating its eighth anniversary later this year. It’s also hard to imagine that 2026 will see yet another reincarnation of gaming’s favourite gunslinging archaeologist, first appearing in a remake of Lara Croft’s original adventure.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will offer a complete modernisation of the first game, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 and starring new lead actress, Alix Wilton Regan, who will also take lead in next year’s Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

Check in tomorrow for another handful of games from our Most Wanted list of 2026. We’re getting to the pointy end now, so there’ll be some pretty big hitters!

The Xbox Developer Direct On January 22 Will Show Extended Fable Gameplay & More

A new Xbox Developer Direct is scheduled for two weeks from now, featuring new gameplay from Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation.

The Xbox Developer Direct is an annual showcase featuring upcoming games coming to the Xbox platform. These showcases are typically focused on gameplay developments, giving players a glimpse behind the curtain at what the final product (and its gameplay) will look like when it launches. The last Xbox Developer Direct aired nearly a year ago, bringing fresh looks at the now-GOTY winner, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, with other first looks being given to Ninja Gaiden 4 and DOOM: The Dark Ages.

The Xbox Developer Direct On January 22 Will Show Extended Fable Gameplay & More

This year, the Xbox Developer Direct 2026 is returning with fresh looks at upcoming developments in Xbox’s first-party catalogue, as well as a new look at GameFreak’s Beast of Reincarnation. The show includes two titles from Playground Games, with the UK studio bringing fans a first extended look at the highly anticipated Fable (the first look since June 2024), as well as the debut of gameplay for Forza Horizon 6. Game Freak is also bringing a first in-depth look at Beast of Reincarnation, which was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase last year.

Xbox Developer Direct showcases put a spotlight on the developers themselves, and each developer usually takes the screen to detail new developments coming to previously announced titles. The Direct has confirmed it will be visiting Playground Games in the UK for extended Fable and Forza Horizon 6 gameplay reveals (including new looks at how Japan landscapes come to life in Horizon), and Game Freak in Tokyo, Japan, for Beast of Reincarnation.

The Xbox Developer Direct On January 22 Will Show Extended Fable Gameplay & More

Fans can watch the latest Xbox Developer Direct when it goes live at 1:00 p.m. EST on January 22. It will be available on Xbox’s official YouTube channel, where the rest of their Developer Directs are hosted.

Eidos Montreal Is Wholly Reliant On Outsourced Projects From Microsoft

3. Prosinec 2025 v 17:36

A number of senior developers have been let go from Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Tomb Raider (2013) and its sequels, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. This is the second round of layoffs the studio has faced in 2025, as approximately 75 developers were let go in March.
