"The majority of people who made Skyrim are still here" Bethesda boss on why The Elder Scrolls 6 will be more like Skyrim or Oblivion than Starfield

It feels like we've heard a lot about Bethesda's mysterious, upcoming RPG, The Elder Scrolls 6, lately. The publisher has been very tight-lipped about the game, which we first started hearing about in 2018, for the past eight years. We once got a title card, and that's about it. It was only recently we started learning more litle nuggets of information about the game after Bethesda's long silence on the project - whether it's how an old designer thought it was going to be like The Empire Strikes Back, or how Bethesda boss man Todd Howard wishes development "went a little faster", we've heard more in the past few months than the past few years combined.

The first announcement for Persona's 30th anniversary isn't that thrilling, but don't worry: there's more to come

It's a big year for gaming anniversaries. I've got an issue with people saying 'turn-based games are back, baby'. For those with the eyes to see, they never went away. Yes, Metaphor Refantazio and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 might have reminded the masses that tactical min/maxing is video game catnip, and that there are so many brain-scratching things you can do with the formula, but the past few generations has been rife with gems in the genre: Dungeon Encounters, the Shin Megami Tensei series, Sea of Stars, Chained Echoes, and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes immediately spring to mind, but there are dozens more, too.

BioShock was hugely important to the Xbox 360, but I remember it most for turning me into a smartarse

Back in 2007, I was taking my A-level exams. For both English Literature and Drama, I came out with A*s. I'm still quite proud of this, which you can probably tell from the fact I'm bringing it up all these years later - but there's a reason I'm bringing this up beyond the chance for a belated humble brag: I owe my full-scoring papers, weirdly, to BioShock.
