After a one-month delay, we’re finally days away now from the start of Battlefield 6’s Season 2 of live service. The second season is being revealed today, following weeks of teasers, and some Battlefield Labs testing of the first new map arriving with the new season.
Ahead of the start of Battlefield 6’s Season 2 next week, Battlefield Studios has shared some insight into a few of the major goals the developer has with the Season 2 patch. The game’s second season was delayed in mid-January, and the developer even brought back Battlefield Labs to test out some of the new content and features coming with the new season.
Battlefield 6’s promised, season-extending update has been officially detailed. The patch, version 1.1.3.5, arrives tomorrow, January 20 right when Season 1 was supposed to end. Part of the update’s goal is to extend the current season, until Season 2 kicks off in the middle of February.
There’s been a lot of anticipation for Battlefield 6’s version 1.1.3.0 patch. The patch kicks off the third and final phase of the game’s first season, adding some new holiday-themed content. More the new content itself, the update’s biggest additions are almost entirely gameplay-related.

After months of playtesting in Battlefield Labs, Battlefield's free-to-play battle royale component is ready for the masses.
Ahead of tomorrow's season one launch in Battlefield 6, EA has announced that the mode, called Battlefield: RedSec, will launch with the new season at 10am CT. Other than some leaked footage of playtests, the mode is largely secretive, so tomorrow will be a new adventure for gamers everywhere.
Info about RedSec (short for Redacted Sector) has been steadily leaking over the past few months, with ModernWarzone spearheading the report that the game would be releasing with season one as a shadow-drop. It's now confirmed, and it's not too late to call in sick to work.
RedSec will feature Battlefield 6 gameplay alongside "the deadliest ring" in BR that will kill players on contact. The mode features its own map along with vehicles, environmental destruction, squad play with role-specific abilities, and more.
Like BF6, RedSec will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It's assumed that it may share some progression and unlockables with the base game, but official details are yet to be announced. Players will not need to own BF6 to play RedSec, though, as the BR mode is a fully free-to-play experience similar to Call of Duty's Warzone.
Buckle up, gamers. A new BR has entered the fray, and it's suddenly less than 24 hours away.

Battlefield 6 has been a real triumph so far; a return to bombastic brilliance for a series that has brought us some of the best FPS games of all time. To supplement this, its developer has deployed its contender to Call of Duty Warzone. Battlefield Redsec is a free-to-play companion to BF6 that includes a battle royale and a gauntlet mode where teams race to complete challenges, and it’s largely a good twist on the formula, even if its Steam reviews might tell you otherwise. But it’s not for everyone, and Battlefield Studios has just responded to complaints that challenges were pushing the mode on them with a very welcome change.
