Dead By Daylight Unveils An Exciting Castlevania Collaboration

Behaviour has announced that Dead By Daylight will collaborate with the legendary Castlevania, featuring the legendary Trevor Belmont and Dracula!

Time to get your whip ready, as Dead By Daylight will be collaborating with Castlevania via a public test build on Steam starting today, with an official release on the 27th of August. The upcoming exciting collaboration will feature the first shape-shifting vampire, Dracula, with Trevor Belmont as the survivor.

Originally released by KONAMI on the Famicom Disk System in 1986, the Dead by Daylight team has joined forces with the original Castlevania team to bring 8-bit glory to the survival horror game Dead by Daylight. This time around, Dracula’s powers and his castle are linked, with The Entity bringing both into his realm. Whenever Dracula is a featured killer in a trial with an original map, players will see the castle looming on the horizon of the map.

Dead By Daylight Unveils An Exciting Castlevania Collaboration

As Dracula enters Dead By Daylight: Castlevania, he will be the first shapeshifting Killer and a vampire in The Fog. As you embodied Dracula, you can shapeshift as a Vampire to stalk your prey and conjure flames that burn the flesh and render its bone to ash, a Bat to creep around in the shadow and gain ground with a blink, and the Wolf as a relentless hunter for fresh blood.

Since his first introduction in 1989’s Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Trevor Belmont has entered Dead By Daylight: Castlevania to fulfil his Belmont clan history and take on the Entity Realm. Though not the brawniest Belmont, he will have the skills that set him apart from the others, with the ability to seek out allies and use his legendary skills as a vampire hunter to truly honour the Belmont Clan.

Dead By Daylight Unveils An Exciting Castlevania Collaboration

Are you excited about the exciting collaboration? If so, Dead By Daylight: Castlevania is currently available as part of the Steam public test build until its official release date, August 27, 2024.

Dead by Daylight has already introduced many of the most iconic horror characters ever to its roster of playable characters, and soon it will be collaborating with one of gaming’s most notorious spooky franchises, Five Nights at Freddy’s.

On Aug. 5, Behaviour Interactive announced via the Dead by Daylight X account that there is a collaboration with Five Nights at Freddy’s on the way, set to arrive sometime in the Summer of 2025. Details of what will be included in this crossover haven’t yet been revealed, but as you’d expect, fans are hoping for Freddy Fazbear.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is more popular than ever before thanks to the release of the Blumhouse movie that outperformed expectations. This Dead by Daylight collaboration answers the question of what gaming collaboration Scott Games was previously teasing for the franchise — sorry Fortnite fans.

While we don’t know for sure what this collaboration will look like, we’d expect that it will include a new killer, and there’s plenty to choose from. Any member of the FNAF cast would more than suit the Dead by Daylight universe, but Freddy Fazbear would be the obvious choice. We’ll have to wait and see what is announced in the coming months, but it is exciting times ahead for fans of the game.

The next collaboration coming to Dead by Daylight is with Castlevania which will arrive on Aug. 6. Other recent additions to the game include the Survivor Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, The Lich from Dungeons and Dragon, and Alan Wake from his titular game series. Given the focus on gaming characters, Five Nights at Freddy’s seems like a logical choice.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Expect more information about the Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration to arrive in the coming months and into the new year.

We've had Vecna as part of the Dungeons and Dragons chapter, and the next is up in July - here's what we know about the next DBD chapter so far.

Dead by Daylight studio Behaviour are laying off almost 100 staff, mere months after they cut dozens of devs

The makers of Dead by Daylight over at Behaviour Interactive are no strangers to the cold, calculating mindset of killers, having created plenty of them now for their multiplayer hunt-and-seek horror game. That coldness seems to have seeped into the company itself too, as they racked up their career-killing bodycount with nearly 100 more layoffs this week.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space Vs Dead By Daylight – A New Challenger Has Arrived

Every time a new asymmetrical horror multiplayer is released, the gaming community jumps to the same conclusion: this game is here to compete with Dead By Daylight. Dead By Daylight is a titan among men at this point. For every player who moans the game is ‘dead’ or threatens to stop playing, hundreds more choose to play it before any other game. So, now a new multiplayer horror game has entered the ring.

Will Killer Klowns Challenge Dead By Daylight in a Battle of the Horror Multiplayer?

Bluntly, no. As experience has shown, Dead By Daylight can have a dip in player numbers while people try out the new kid on the block, but we all know what happens next. It happened with VHS (RIP, gone too soon) and then again with Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Although I hear people still play Texas, I can’t think why. It became repetitive and dull after the first week. Dead By Daylight’s fanbase is strong and, for the most part, loyal. It would take something pretty astounding to tear themselves from the Entity’s claws. Those bad boys are stuck in deep.

Dead by Daylight adding Dungeons & Dragons and Castlevania chapters this year

The next Dead by Daylight chapter will be based on Dungeons & Dragons, with Vecna as the new Killer.

News of the new chapter was teased last week, but in its anniversary stream today Behaviour unveiled further details.

Alongside the new chapter, a new 2v8 mode was announced, as well as an update on spin-off titles, and a tease of a new Castlevania chapter coming later this year.

Many of Dead by Daylight's events have their own Event Tome, but Chaos Shuffle is something special. It's a Modifer, meaning it's an entirely new game mode with some big changes to the standard Trial formula that make it a bit more of a challenge to complete challenges in. However, if you know what you're doing, you'll find these challenges pretty easy to bash out in one afternoon.

Below, I've listed every challenge in the Dead by Daylight Chaos Shuffle Event Tome, how to complete them, and the rewards you can unlock. The Event Tome is only available between May 16 to 23, 2024, so you'll need to complete it quickly if you want to grab every reward on offer. Note that all of these challenges must be completed in the Chaos Shuffle Modifier playlist.

  • Silver Age: Earn 3 emblems of silver quality or better across multiple Trials as a Survivor and/or Killer.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Drop or Chop: Complete a total of 4 pallet drops while being chased by the Killer or 4 pallet breaks as a Killer across multiple Trials.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Bloody Rewards: Earn 50,000 Bloodpoints as a Killer or Survivor.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Reward: Champagne Flute Badge.
  • Golden Age: Earn 2 emblems of gold quality or better across multiple Trials as a Survivor and/or Killer.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Destroy or Rebuild: Complete a total of 4 generator skill checks or break generators 4 times across multiple Trials.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Cat or Mouse: Complete a total of 60 seconds of being chased by the Killer or chasing Survivors as the Killer across multiple Trials.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Reward: Exquisite Lilac Banner.
  • Execution: Kill 3 Survivors by any means across multiple Trials.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Escape Artist: Escape 1 Trial.
    • Reward: 5 Rift Fragments and 15,000 Bloodpoints.

  • Reward: Silky Sound Charm & 25 Rift Fragments.

These time-limited rewards are the best of the best for me because they won't come around again. You can show them off forever, and everyone will wonder where they came from.

How to play Chaos Shuffle in Dead by Daylight

To make sure you're playing Chaos Shuffle in Dead by Daylight, you need to select the Chaos Shuffle mode from the home screen. It enters you into separate queues to play, which helps keep the standard Trial queue free of players who may not know what Perks they're running.

Of course, that's the twist with Chaos Shuffle. It chooses four random Perks for you, so you have no idea which Perks you're using in the Trial. It keeps things very interesting because you can't simply lean on your usual strategies. You need to play to win.

Dead by Daylight: Dungeons & Dragons features one of the most iconic characters in the D&D mythos – the archlich Vecna – as well as the original Bard Survivor Aestri Yazar (and her playable counterpart, Baermar Uraz). Also coming is the Forgotten Ruins Map, a dark fantasy-inspired Realm befitting of The Whispered One’s presence.

Countless players have immersed themselves in the world of Dungeons & Dragons – including many of us on the Dead by Daylight team – and it was important to capture the experience and characters players know and love. It was an exciting challenge for Principal Game Designer Janick Neveu, who was tasked with bringing the all-powerful Vecna to life.

“We wanted to explore magic and really delve into the spellcasting aspect of the Killer,” he explains. “The first thing we did was look at Vecna’s recently updated lore and stat block from Wizards of the Coast. We then compiled a list of potential spells and tried to identify game mechanics that would translate to DbD.”

After deliberation and a few rounds of prototyping, the team ultimately landed on four distinct spells: Fly, Flight of the Damned, Dispelling Sphere, and Mage Hand. During a game, Vecna can cycle through his spell book and select whichever spell he wishes to use, with each one excelling at a different role.

“Fly allows Vecna to traverse the map quickly,” notes Neveu, citing the impact Killer mobility can have on a match. “Mobility is an interesting element that’s present on many other Killers, and it’s always appreciated by our players.”

“However, it was important that Fly wasn’t more effective than a Killer’s main mobility effect,” he continues. “Otherwise, we’d risk making an older Killer obsolete. During design, we had to carefully examine the values of traversal length, speed, and efficacy in chase.”

Complementing this tool for quickly gaining ground on a Survivor, Vecna can use his projectile Flight of the Damned spell to zone them into a favourable location. “Flight of the Damned, which is a special ability unique to Vecna in D&D, allows him to cast undead spectral projectiles that propel forward, creating a bullet-hell effect,” explains Neveu. “Try shooting it through walls to catch Survivors unawares.”

When Vecna catches up to a Survivor, he can use his Mage Hand spell to tip the scales in his favor. “Mage Hand allows you to tag a Pallet and block it if it’s already up,” explains Neveu. “If it’s been dropped, the Mage Hand will raise it instantly. It’s probably his most unique ability.”

It also rewards skillful gameplay for both sides. “Pallets are a valuable resource to Survivors, and we built intricacies to ensure counterplay. Using Mage Hand effectively might sound simple on paper, but there’s reactivity involved. You must pre-emptively charge your Power and predict a Survivor’s pathing, which creates a fun battle of wits.”

“His last spell is the Dispelling Sphere, which was inspired by two existing D&D spells named Detect Magic and Dispel Magic,” says Neveu. “Using this allows Vecna to cast a large area effect that traverses through the level, revealing any Survivor and dispelling any Magic Items they might have found.”

Speaking of Magic Items…

“One of the big appeals of RPGs is hunting for loot and improving your character,” says Neveu. “As such, it was imperative to incorporate that into Dead by Daylight. In the end, the team decided on making Magic Items spawn in Treasure Chests whenever facing Vecna, giving Survivors tools to withstand his magical onslaught. If they’re lucky, they may even unearth Vecna’s cherished possessions: the Hand and Eye of Vecna.

“If a Survivor gets the Eye, when they do a fast Exit from a Locker, they’ll become unseen and unheard for a duration. If they have the Hand, when they fast jump into a Locker, they teleport to another random Locker. These can be tricky to use, and while they’re beneficial to the Survivor, they will take damage when using the effect.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be Dungeons & Dragons without one crucial element. “We absolutely needed a dice roll!” laughs Neveu. It manifested in determining the rarity of loot Survivors will find during the Trial – but as anyone knows, sometimes the rolls simply aren’t in your favor.

“Even the best fighter with the best magic sword can miss an attack from time to time,” he continues. “We really wanted to capture that aspect, but not base the whole experience around it. The dice roll might randomize the experience, but it doesn’t affect the result.”

For fans of Dungeons & Dragons, this latest Chapter looks to be one of Dead by Daylight’s most ambitious to date and no doubt the perfect entry point for many to the long-running horror multiplayer.

Revealed as part of Dead by Daylight’s 8th Anniversary celebrations, Dead by Daylight: Dungeons & Dragons will be released on PlayStation on June 3.

Dead by Daylight is teasing a classic Dungeons & Dragons monster as its next killer

Having brought the likes of Resident Evil’s Nemesis, Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head, Stranger Things' Demogorgon and Alien’s Xenomorph to its one-versus-many game of deadly hide-and-seek, Dead by Daylight is digging back into the vaults for its next classic killer. This time, it’s not horror video games or scary movies serving as inspiration for DBD’s next chapter, but 50-year-old tabletop fantasy RPG Dungeons & Dragons.

Dead by Daylight’s 8th anniversary is neatly here, which means plenty of news about what’s coming up. While there will be a focus on the next chapter, we could see more about the coming year. Here are our predictions about what to expect from Dead by Daylight’s 8th Anniversary Stream.

A New Chapter

This one’s a certainty. Dead by Daylight releases a new chapter every three months. With the next chapter due to drop in June, and the roadmap listing a PTB beginning on May 14, it’s clear that we’ll find out what’s coming next during the stream.

The Pig is an incredibly versatile Killer in Dead by Daylight. She can crouch and pounce at Survivors, plus use the Saw franchise's iconic Reverse Bear Traps to force them out of hiding in search of keys to remove her torturous devices. However, the lengthy timer on these traps has been somewhat of a sore spot for Killer mains—that is, until now as Survivors will have far less time to escape their fate.

Today, Behaviour Interactive released its Developer Update preview for the upcoming All Things Wicked Chapter in Dead by Daylight. While these are still subject to change, the notes for the new Killer, Survivor, and map are likely to change before they launch on March 12. The biggest news from these patch notes isn't related to that Chapter, though. It's all about how The Pig's ability is becoming more lethal.

Why The Pig's Reverse Bear Trap timer reduction is being reduced

Dead by Daylight does have crossplay
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Hidden among the All Things Wicked Chapter Developer Update notes is a section titled "[REVERTED] Decreased Reverse Bear Traps base time to 150 seconds (was 180 during PTB)." This means a change to The Pig's Reverse Bear Trap timer is being removed, lowering it to 150 seconds once again.

Behaviour Interactive explained its reasoning, noting, "We wanted to shift some power away from The Pig’s Reverse Bear Traps and into her stealth & Ambush abilities to make her more fun and interactive to play. Many felt that this change was too significant during the PTB, so we have reverted it for the update’s release. We’ll be keeping a close eye on her performance once this update goes live and re-evaluate if this change is needed at a later date."

https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1b8x3es/it_is_official_pig_has_been_buffed/

To the community, this is sweet, sweet music to their ears. A post on the Dead by Daylight Subreddit has garnered hundreds of responses of sheer joy because the change makes The Pig a lot less fun to play as. Speaking from experience, the best part of playing as The Pig is being able to not only Hook a Survivor but also give them a handicap so that once they're unhooked, you're still making their life a misery.

Once the timer on the Reverse Bear Trap ends, the Survivor will be downed. You can them pick them up to Hook them or throw another trap on them so that if they're healed, they can be easily downed once more. This makes getting kills and Moris so much easier as the Killer.

Even though it's only 30 seconds, a lot can be achieved in that time. It removes the incentive for Survivors to get rid of the trap and instead remain focused on a generator. The Pig's stealth attack simply isn't powerful enough to make it a Killer worth playing without that 150-second timer on the Reverse Bear Trap.

Players are already getting ready to dive into the next update not as The Unknown, but as The Pig. User ANewPrometheus pointed out, "March 12th is when the Update comes live. So about 5 days from now. In less than a week, Pig will potentially be High C-Tier rather than Bottom C-Tier. Absolutely phenomenal."

It certainly says a lot about a Killer that the fan base is more excited about a legacy character than the latest one being added. I've got hundreds of hours in Dead by Daylight and am incredibly excited about what The Unknown brings to the table. I can't deny that I'm also looking forward to playing around with The Pig much more from March 12 as well, though.

Dead by Daylight: All Hatches Location

Players have two options to escape when playing as a Survivor in Dead by Daylight. The first is to work together with their fellow Survivors and repair five generators. When they finally escape as a team, they feel triumphant because the team overcame evil together, not apart.

The second is to cower in the tall grass, hoping they get lucky and find a hatch, or wait until one spawns when all their fellow Survivors have been sacrificed. This guide is for those players who like to let others perish for their safety. Below, we’ve covered all the known hatch spawn locations for each map in Dead by DaylightA word of cautionThe Killer can close the hatch, so be careful not to get caught in a trap.

The MacMillan Estate Map Hatch Locations

macmillan estate map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

This section covers the dbd hatch locations for the MacMillan Estate map in Dead by Daylight.

Coal Tower

The Coal Tower is the huge building dominating the landscape. It groans and creaks as Survivors walk past it. Look to the side of the coal tower, and players will see a two-story building. The hatch will spawn on the outside near the wheelhouse.

Groaning Storehouse

The Groaning Storehouse is another huge building. Players will know it because it’s got so many entrances and exits. The hatch could spawn in or around the main building. Keep an eye out.

The Ironworks of Misery

The Ironworks of Misery is another location fans can’t miss. It’s the beating heart of the mine and the place they’ll be cornered in the most by Killers. Look for the hatch to spawn between two pipes on the first floor of the building.

Shelter Woods

The Shelter Woods is a colossal tree marks this area. There are three potential areas where Survivors can look for a hatch. The first is near the cabin. If that doesn’t pay off, scout the area’s edges. There are two spawn points right on the area’s perimeter.

Suffocation Pit

With this final region, look for the huge house near the ramp to find the Suffocation Pit. It’s also where players can see a hill near the farm. The hatch will spawn behind the large house.

The Autohaven Wreckers Map Hatch Locations

autohaven wreckers map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

The following are the dbd hatch locations for the Autohaven Wreckers maps in Dead by Daylight.

Azarov’s Resting Place

The hatch in Azarov’s Resting Place is not always there. However, the chances are better for it to spawn toward the map’s outer edge, between trees, and near generators. If a single area has all three, the chances are that the map will appear there as well.

Blood Lodge

The Blood Lodge has but one hatch inside the lodge, right at the bottom of the map, down all those terrifying stairs. Survivors should not go there unless they absolutely must.

Gas Haven

The Gas Haven hatch is another highly randomized one. Our best suggestion is to look around the outer edge and watch generators when the time comes.

Wretched Shop

There are two barrels and a tree behind the Wretched Shop. That’s where the hatch will spawn. We recommend all players familiarize themselves with the area so they know where to run when they’re the only ones left.

Wrecker’s Yard

The hatch in Wrecker’s Yard is another randomized one. The pattern seems to be that the hatch will spawn near trees but also inside buildings. When Survivors need to find it quickly, they should go for the trees first.

Coldwind Farms Map Hatch Locations

coldwind farms map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

The following are the hatch locations for all the Coldwind Farms maps in Dead by Daylight.

Fractured Cowshed

There’s a blimp crash site near the Fracture Cowshed. The hatch spawns north or northeast of it. Players shouldn’t have trouble finding the site; they just need to run there and start their search when the time comes.

The Thompson House

Head to the back of the Thompson House. The hatch will spawn on the lower porch in the back corner. It’s good for Survivors to learn this location to get there fast each Trial.

Torment Creek

If you want to find Torment Creek, look for a building in this region that’s half torn down. The hatch will spawn beside it. This is a tricky one because everything looks the same. Just remember that it’s a half-torn-down building.

Rancid Abattoir

The Rancid Abattoir hatch is one that everyone knows. There’s a room with hanging dead pigs. This is the room in which the hatch generally spawns. The hatch can also spawn near the exits, but it’ll be beside a fence. This might seem counterintuitive, but it’s the pattern we’ve seen in the spawns.

Rotten Fields

Players will almost certainly see the Rotten Fields hatch spawn in one of the fields near the exit. For the most part, though, this map has extremely random hatch spawns. Survivors should keep looking through the crops to see what they can find.

The Crotus Prenn Asylum Map Hatch Locations

crotus pen asylum map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

The following are the hatch locations for the two maps in The Crotus Penn Asylum area of Dead by Daylight.

Disturbed Ward

The hatch spawns in the Disturbed Ward are very random. What seems to be a common thread between them is that they spawn near bonfires. If players are stuck, and on the run, they must look for the light.

Father Campbell’s Chapel

To find the hatch in Father Campbell’s Chapel, Survivors want to look for the shack on the map. The hatch almost always spawns inside it. If that fails, they must look for generators on the edge of the map.

Haddonfield Map Hatch Locations

haddonfield map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Lampkin Lane

The hatch in Lampkin lane is a very predictable one. Players need to look at the paved road. The hatch will spawn in the middle or at either end.

Blackwater Swamp Map Hatch Locations

Image via Behaviour Interactive

These are the hatch spawn locations for the Black Water Swamp maps in Dead by Daylight.

The Pale Rose

Unfortunately, the hatch spawns in The Pale Rose are more random than anyone can track. Look to the outer edges for a good start. Just bear in mind that the hatch could also spawn on the second floor of a building.

Grim Pantry

When it comes to dbd hatch locations, Grim Pantry is extremely random. It’s best to try to look in the center of the map since that’s generally a great place to start finding the hatch.

Lery’s Memorial Institute Map Hatch Locations

lerys memorial institute map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Treatment Theatre

Treatment Theatre is quite random, but Survivors can predict where the hatch will spawn to some degree. They need to look for the corridors that are at the corners of the map. There’s a better chance of it spawning there than anywhere else.

Red Forest Map Hatch Locations

red forest map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Mother’s Dwelling

Saying that trees are great for the hatch spawn in Mother’s Dwelling isn’t helpful, we know, but that’s what we’re saying nonetheless. The hatch is far more likely to spawn near tall trees that stand out, so all players should seek those out if they’re on the run as the last survivor.

Springwood Map Hatch Locations

springwood map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Badham Preschool

There are two key locations where you’ll find the hatch spawning in Badham Preschool. The first is the boiler room in the basement. The second is at the end of the road, conveniently near an exit.

Gideon Meat Plant Map Hatch Locations

gideon meat plant map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

The Game

On The Game, players need to look for the stairs going downwards and follow them. The hatch spawns at the bottom most of the time. Sadly, this isn’t always the case. If it isn’t the time fans take a chance on it, they will die.

Yamaoka Estate Map Hatch Locations

yamokoa estate map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Family Residence

The rule of the center applies in the Family Residence. The hatch almost always spawns in the center of the map. It’s in the section where bamboo canes grow amid a few low concrete walls.

Ormond Map Hatch Locations

ormond map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Mount Ormond Resort

Hatches are always more likely to spawn near generators in Mount Ormond Resort. That’s true here. Players will find that the hatch is almost always near one. Fans should check every generator they know about. Luckily, they’re incredibly noisy and easy to track down. That logic also applies to the Killer, though, which players need to bear in mind.

Hawkins National Library Map Hatch Locations

hawkins map dead by daylight
Image via Dead by Daylight YouTube channel

The hatch for the Hawkins National Library Map is, as expected, found most at its center. The lower level and close to the exit gates are where we’ve seen it most, but the location is just as random as it is with every other map in Dead by Daylight.

While this map was unavailable for a long time due to removing the Stranger Things DLC in Dead by Daylight, it returned in November 2023. This means players will need to know where the hatch is while they’re rushing around trying to avoid The Demogorgon once more.

The Underground Complex

For the Undergroun Complex specifically, the hatch will only spawn on the lowest level. That means going down as far as possible, which is risky with a Killer on the loose. Once there, check around the edges and then look for generators.

Grave of Glenvale Map Hatch Locations

grave of glenvale map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Dead Dawg Saloon

In the Dead Dawg Saloon, the hatches are random. Go with the reliable tips of generators and check the edges first. If it’s not in any of those locations, it might be in the center.

Silent Hill Map Hatch Locations

silent hill map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

This section explains where the hatch will most likely spawn in all Silent Hill maps added to Dead by Daylight with the incredible Silent Hill Chapter.

Midwich Elementary School

The Midwich Elementary School is also random, but it’s even more complex than that. The hatch can spawn under hunks of flesh, so you have to look even harder for them. Don’t let a lump go by without you rubbing your face in it.

Forsaken Boneyard Map Hatch Locations

forsaken boneyard map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

With Forsaken Boneyward, developer Behaviour Interactive didn’t want to allow players to game the system and lurk close to hatch spawn locations. The hatches here are random, but sticking to the edges or center is always a good tactic.

Raccoon City Map Hatch Locations

raccoon city map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

Developer Behaviour Interactive split the original Raccoon city map into two, the east and west wings.

Raccoon City Police Station East Wing Map Hatch Locations

While there’s no set location for the hatch to spawn in this map, most players agree that the hatch spawns upstairs in the lounge more often than not. We’ve escaped through this hatch more times than we can count, so it seems like a reliable location.

Raccoon City Police Station West Wing Map Hatch Locations

As with the Racoon City Police Station East Wing version of this map, the hatch tends to spawn upstairs more than it does downstairs. We’ve never seen it downstairs and have escaped through the bathroom a few times when we’ve been the last Survivor on the map.

Withered Isle Map Hatch Locations

withered isle hatch locations map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

The Garden of Joy is the map of Withered Isle, and it’s a tough one to tackle as a Survivor. If players are looking for the hatch, their best bet is running outside until they hear it. Usually, it’ll spawn in one of the small squares of hedges to the right or left of the map. We’ve never seen it spawn inside a building.

The Shattered Square Map Hatch Locations

the decimated borgo hatch locations map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

The Shattered Square’s map is a location in Medieval Italy that’s been utterly decimated by war. There are many open spaces to be seen in and almost no cover from being spotted at long range by the Killer. We’ve seen the hatch spawn in areas close to generators on this map, inside burned-out buildings. If players are left alone and need to escape, they should move from building to building until they find a way out.

The Hunting Camp/Shelter Woods Map Hatch Locations

the hunting camp shelter map dead by daylight
Image via Behaviour Interactive

The hatch will spawn in The Hunting Ground in similar locations to most Macmillan Estate maps. This is because the map is a new version of those maps built for the Tools of Torment’s new Killer, The Skull Merchant. The idea is that the Killer’s base has been dumped into the map, so the spawn points are very similar. However, there’s always a chance the hatch will spawn inside the base itself, sometimes on the first floor.

A player’s best bet for finding the hatch once it spawns is to check the base first. Then, they know if the hatch is inside the base or on the map somewhere else. However, the center of the map is this new base, so the hatch will more than likely spawn there.

Toba Landing Map Hatch Locations

Dead by Daylight End Transmission Toba Landing map
Image via Behavior Interactive

Toba Landing is an alien world map added to Dead by Daylight with the End Transmission Chapter. It’s a dense first of disgusting wildlife where players are hunted relentlessly by The Singularity. The hatch can spawn anywhere on this map, but the best places to check first are inside buildings. This is where it seems to pop up most, so players should check every building to see if they’re the last one standing before roaming the exterior in hopes of stumbling upon it.

The Nostromo Hatch Locations

nostromo map dead by daylight
Screenshot via Behaviour Interactive

The Nostromo is the map added to Dead by Daylight with the Alien Chapter. It’s an iconic location, but it doesn’t come around in rotation that often. The hatch generally appears around the edge of this map. While it’s randomized, we’ve seen it most at the edges, with the occasional appearance closer to the center of the map.

This map has multiple levels, and it’s important to remember that the hatch can appear anywhere. It’s a strange object, so keep an eye out for it, even when there’s no logical sense as to where it’s been placed in the Nostromo.

What is the Hatch in Dead by Daylight?

nicholas cage next survivor in dead by daylight hatches
Screenshot via Behaviour Interactive’s YouTube channel

The hatch is a final escape route Survivors can use to get out of a Trial after all the other Survivors have either escaped or been sacrificed. It’s a small space on the floor of the map that makes an ominous sound to attract Survivors to it.

Killers can hit this hatch to prevent Survivors from using it, but Survivors can use Keys to unlock it once again. Players will only see the hatch spawn at the end of a Trial, and it’s often a better option if the Killer has sacrificed all the other Survivors on the map, especially if they’re then guarding the exits.

The hatch spawns in a random location on each map. While the spawns are in the map’s major landmarks about 90% of the time, they sometimes throw you a curveball and spawn in the more remote locations.

However, players can burn the Annotated Blueprint to increase the likelihood of a hatch spawning at the Killer Shack or a Vigo’s Blueprint to make the hatch more likely to spawn at the main buildings. This applies to all of the maps.
