A few minutes ago, Apple concluded one of its longest WWDC events. The company showcased dozens of new features it is bringing to its computers, smartphones, tablets, and wearables. Many of those features, including the ones powered by AI and the ones that aren't, are already available on Galaxy devices.

Here is the list of all major features Apple announced during WWDC 2024 that are available on Galaxy phones and tablets.

List of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 features Apple copied from Samsung

1. Advanced image editing

Thanks to the power of AI, you can remove unwanted objects and subjects from your photos on your Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The same feature was introduced by Apple today at the WWDC 2024 keynote event.

2. Changing the colors of app icons

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra One UI 4.0 Material You Theme

Apple introduced big customization features with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Users can change the colors of app icons by choosing their preferred color. This feature has been present on Samsung phones and tablets in the form of Color Palette for a couple of years.

3. Editable quick setting toggles

One of the big customization features that Apple introduced at WWDC 2024 is the ability to create multiple pages in the Control Center and the ability to change the position of quick setting toggles and other elements. This feature has been present on Samsung phones for years.

4. Game Mode

Game Mode in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 suspends background activity to offer better gaming frame rates and reduces distractions from notifications. Samsung has the same features through Game Booster and its Priority Mode.

This feature on Samsung phones automatically optimizes the game settings to suit your device and usage. The Priority Mode lets you hide incoming calls and other notifications to improve your focus on your gameplay.

5. Hiding apps from the app drawer

Samsung has had the option to hide apps and games from the home screen of Galaxy phones for years. Apple has introduced it with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

6. Home screen with blank spaces

This is one of the most basic features that has been present on Android-powered phones and tablets from Samsung and other brands. Apple introduced that feature this year.

With iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, users can arrange app icons as they like, leaving blank spaces anywhere on the screen.

7. Lock screen customization

Samsung lets you change the left and right shortcuts on the lock screen. For example, you can choose any app or app actions from stock apps or select third-party apps. Apple has introduced this feature with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

8. Password manager

Samsung Wallet Driver's License USA

Samsung Wallet offers password management, letting you save login credentials for your apps, email accounts, and other online services. While Apple has had a basic password manager in the form of Apple Keychain for years, it has graduated to a full-fledged password manager called Passwords with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

However, it looks like Apple's Passwords app is more feature-rich, allowing you to share passwords with others. It will also be available on Windows through the iCloud app. This is something that Samsung Wallet doesn't offer.

9. Proofreading text and language tone suggestions

One UI 6.1 Galaxy AI Chat and Writing Assist features

With the power of Large Language Models (LLM) and Machine Learning (ML), Apple introduced a way to proofread documents, emails, notes, and text messages. It also introduced writing style suggestions with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

Samsung introduced a similar feature earlier this year for Galaxy phones and tablets with One UI 6.1. It is available on most high-end Galaxy devices released a few years ago.

10. RCS support for messaging

Google Messages On Samsung Galaxy S21

Samsung phones and tablets have supported RCS for a few years now, and that feature will be available on iPhones running iOS 18. iPhones will now display the RCS tag inside the messaging field in the default Messages app on iOS 18.

Apple's smartphones will finally be able to send and receive high-quality images and videos from Android phones. Other modern messaging features, like stickers and typing indicators, will also be available when an iPhone user converses with an Android user.

11. Reminders integration with Calendar

iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 can now display reminders created in the Reminders app inside the stock Calendar app. This feature was introduced by Samsung on Galaxy phones and tablets with the One UI 6.0 update.

12. Summarizing articles on the web

Samsung One UI 6.1 Browser Assist Galaxy AI

With One UI 6.1, Samsung brought the ability to summarize articles and webpages via the Samsung Internet web browser. The same feature is now available in the Safari web browser on Apple devices running iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

You can watch this feature in action in our video below.

While Apple has copied many of Samsung's features on its phones and tablets, the iPhone maker was able to catch up faster with AI-powered features.

Some of Apple's AI features are more advanced than those of Samsung. For example, Genmoji (an AI-powered custom emoji creator), extraction of important data from emails and messages, and Image Playground (a Gen AI-powered image generator) are quite impressive. Hopefully, Samsung will be able to catch up to those features with the One UI 7.0 update.

Samsung has been working with Google and Microsoft to improve integration and productivity between Galaxy devices. Galaxy phones are usually the first to get access to new integration features with Microsoft's Windows OS. Thanks to deeper integration in Windows 11, accessing files from your Galaxy phone could soon get even easier.

Files from Galaxy phones can be accessed more easily on Galaxy Book laptops via Windows 11

To access files stored on your Galaxy phone and tablet, you may not need to open the Phone Link app anymore. As spotted by X user @PhantomOnEarth, the File Manager app in Windows 11 will soon be able to display your Android phone as a shortcut. Once you click your phone on the app's sidebar, you can see all the files stored on your Galaxy device.

Microsoft Windows Phone Link File Manager Integration Windows 11

You can wirelessly import relevant files from your Galaxy phone or tablet to your Galaxy (or any other branded) laptop or PC. To enable this feature, you must enable the setting from the Settings app on a computer running Windows 11. To make this happen, the Phone Link app and the Cross Device Experience Host app act as a bridge between Android and Windows.

The story continues after our Galaxy Book 4 series hands-on video below.

The Phone Link app on Windows 11 already allows users to access images and videos stored on Android phones and tablets. However, other files, like documents, can't be accessed right now without using screen mirroring and dragging and dropping files.

The new File Manager integration for files stored on your Galaxy phone and tablet is under testing right now, and it could be released to some users soon via the Dev and Beta versions of Windows 11. Once the testing is done thoroughly, the feature could be released to all users with compatible devices and capabilities.

Usually, people blame Samsung’s mid-range smartphones for costing too much for what they offer. However, there have been a few mid-range phones from the brand that offered an excellent set of features for their price. The Galaxy A52 is one of them, and because of that many people bought it. However. We didn’t know that the Galaxy A52 was so magnetic that even CEOs of big companies bought it.

The CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has revealed that he has been using the Galaxy A52 for the last two years. According to him, he chose this smartphone because it is “one of the most widely used phones among Telegram users” and he “wanted to understand their experience to serve them better.” So far, so good. However, what he revealed after that is very concerning for Samsung and Galaxy A52 users.

In the post, Pavel revealed that the back panel of his Galaxy A52 got separated from the phone due to Dubai’s heat, as you can see in the image above. His exact words were “My phone got “unlocked” by the Dubai heat.” Dubai is indeed very hot. However, the build quality of a smartphone should be good enough that it doesn’t pop open in such heat. Sadly, the Galaxy A52 doesn’t couldn't take that torture.

With that, the CEO of Telegram says that he will now have to upgrade to a new smartphone. It would be interesting to see which phone he goes for this time around. We would be surprised if he goes for a Samsung smartphone once again.

The post from Pavel suggests that the Galaxy A52 was one of the highest-sold smartphones as it was one of the most widely used phones among Telegram users. However, it also reveals that the Galaxy A52 isn't as well built as many of us thought.

The story continues after our video below.

Samsung copying AirPods design shows Apple was right all along

10. Červen 2024 v 17:02

Things have been leaking ahead of Samsung's next Unpacked event on July 10. The company will be unveiling a whole host of devices at the event, including new wireless earbuds. It has been a while since the Galaxy Buds lineup received a major refresh and the company is set to deliver it alongside its new wearable devices and the new flagship phones.

While a design change was expected, it wasn't expected that Samsung would take a page out of Apple's playbook and be completely inspired by the AirPods. Apple's first wireless earbuds, the AirPods, were launched back in 2016. They had a distinct design element compared to other earbuds of that period, the AirPods had elongated stems with both form and function. The stems brought the microphones closer to the mouth and helped with call quality.

Meanwhile, Samsung came out with wireless earbuds under its Gear brand first with an in-ear design. It wasn't until March 2019 that Samsung really focused on its wireless earbuds when it rebranded the lineup to Galaxy Buds. It has released some decent models since then, but the upcoming iteration brings one of the biggest design upgrades yet for the lineup.

If you've been using Samsung earbuds since the early days, you'd remember very well that the call quality left a lot to be desired. The person on the other end of the phone call wouldn't be able to hear you all that well, and that just defeated one of the main reasons to buy wireless earbuds, which is to take calls hands-free. It become more frustrating as Samsung gradually ditched the 3.5mm port on its phones yet the call quality on its earbuds remained lacking.

Recent models, particularly the likes of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, have significantly improved the call quality. However, this new design change that Samsung is introducing is perhaps a tacit admission that Apple got it right the first time around. Leaked images of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have revealed that they're going to have elongated stems as well, making them appear quite similar to the AirPods. In fact, they look more closer to the AirPods than they do to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

Naturally, a lot of Samsung fans aren't too thrilled by the company copying Apple's design, but one can certainly hope that this would bring a major improvement in call quality. To play the devil's advocate for a bit, the stem design is associated with Apple largely because the AirPods are so popular, but you'll find countless brands, particularly in China, that have been using similar designs for just as long. Samsung won't find itself being sued over this design change, it's just that it looks odd to Samsung fans, and they'll probably be made fun of by their fans in the Apple camp most likely.

It's very easy to get caught up in the age old debate of Samsung copying Apple but there are some undeniable facts as well that highlight how Samsung has been ahead of Apple in realizing where the market was heading and helping lead it there. At a time when companies weren't to keen on the idea of smartphones with large displays, Samsung rightly understood customers' desire and forged the way for larger displays with the Galaxy Note series.

Samsung has already rightly understood customers' boredom with the conventional style of phones and has ushered in a new era of mobility with foldable phones. It was the first manufacturer to ship foldable phones at a global scale in 2020 and has remained the leader in the segment ever since, while Apple's still undecided on whether it wants to make a foldable iPhone.

Ultimately, what matters the most is providing customers with a better experience and making them feel that the money they've spent on a new device was well worth it. The audio quality on Samsung's earbuds has always been good. If call quality has been significantly improved with this design change, and perhaps more battery life can be squeezed out of it as well, then it doesn't really matter all that much. What matters most is that users will have a better product that provide them with more bang for their buck.

Expect Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro at the Unpacked event on July 10, 2024 in Paris, France. We'll be on the ground with the latest updates, so be sure to join our Telegram channel for the latest updates.

Some details of Samsung’s next Fan Edition phone have surfaced courtesy of our friends over at GalaxyCluba month after it was revealed that the device is in development.

The Galaxy S24 FE will reportedly feature the same primary camera sensor as its predecessor. This sensor—the ISOCELL GN3—is also used in the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S24+.

The FE lineup received an upgrade for the main rear camera for the first time just last year with the Galaxy S23 FE, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Samsung isn't planning any upgrades for the Galaxy S24 FE. The same applies to the front-facing camera, which went from a mid-range 32MP sensor on the S20 FE and S21 FE to a 10MP high-end sensor on the Galaxy S23 FE.

The ultra-wide and zoom cameras will likely remain unchanged as well, though it's all speculation for now. It will be a while before we get a full picture of the Galaxy S24 FE's specs, as its development timeline suggests it may not launch until late this year or early 2025.

The biggest question for many Samsung fans will be the choice of chipsets that power the Galaxy S24 FE. Samsung veered off the established path by using an year-old Exynos and Snapdragon chip for the Galaxy S23 FE instead of the chips found inside its non-FE cousins, but it remains to be seen what approach the company will take for the sequel.

We'll let you know more about the Galaxy S24 FE as new information comes to light, so stay tuned.

Samsung’s 2024 QLED 4K series models for India

In the press release about the latest announcement, Samsung didn’t mention which models the 2024 QLED 4K series in India offers. However, after going through the company’s official website and various online shopping websites, we learned that Samsung’s 2024 QLED 4K series in India has three models: QE1D, Q60D, and Q70D, which come as successors to 2023’s QE1C, Q60C, and Q70C series. Internationally, the series also offers Q75D and Q80D.

From what we could gather, in India, Samsung has launched the QE1D in three sizes, 55-inch and 65-inch, and 75-inch, Q60D in six sizes, 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch, and the Q70D in two sizes, 55-inch and 65-inch. • QE1D 55-inch – INR 65,990
  • QE1D 65-inch – INR 115,990

  • Q70D 55-inch – INR 125,990

What improvements do Samsung’s 2024 QLED 4K series TVs offer over 2023 models?

So far, Samsung has not revealed what exact improvements do the QE1D, Q60D, and Q70D offer over QE1C, Q60C, and Q70C. However, from what we could gather, the only difference you’ll see between 2023 QLED 4K and 2024 QLED 4K TVs is in the operating system. The new models have an updated version of Tizen OS which offers additional features, including a Daily+ section that gives you access to SmartThings, Samsung Health, and much more.

Depending upon the model, Samsung’s 2024 QLED 4K series TVs have a VA panel with 4K resolution and quantum-dot (QD) layer, 60Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR. Samsung says that these TVs feature Dual LED and Motion Xcelerator, and come with Pantone Validation. You can check out our video above to learn more about Samsung’s 2024 lineup of televisions. On a related note, Samsung also launched 2024 lineup of monitors in India recently.
