Fourth Sonic movie casts Hollywood star as Amy, and she’s already got quite the rep in voice acting, too

While we all wait for confirmation that Jim Carrey will return as Doctor Robotnik, the fourth Sonic the Hedgehog film has just announced another major role.
Sonic actor Ben Schwartz revealed the news this afternoon that Amy Rose will be played by Kristen Bell in the upcoming sequel, which is currently slated for 2027. If you don't recognize her from TV shows like Gossip Girl, Veronica Mars, or The Good Place, then you've likely already heard her voice.
Bell is the voice of Princess Anna in the Frozen movies, meaning she's likely got more than enough voice acting pedigree to handle a role like Amy Rose in the beloved Sonic franchise, which already has three successful titles over the past few years.
I think the Sonic movies are criminally underrated, and you can argue that they've only gotten better with each iteration. That said, I do think that Jim Carrey's Robotnik has been an integral part of all three, and he's currently unconfirmed for Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
Still, Amy Rose joining the roster that already includes Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, along with human characters like James Marsden's Tom, is an exciting prospect. Amy was teased at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which also starred Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. Amy is a cute pink hedgehog that has starred in several Sonic games and is often portrayed as his admirer.
Growing up, I was a Sonic kid myself. I played the Mario games, but the Sonic titles were where I really got into the gaming lifestyle via the first three Sega Genesis titles, plus spin-offs likeSonic Spinball and Sonic 3D Blast. I'm thankful that these movies have been handled with care thus far, with most fans thrilled with how they've turned out.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is directed by Jeff Fowler, who directed the previous three films along with the Knuckles TV series on Paramount Plus. Now, let's just get Carrey back, and we can really have some fun.

BioShock Movie and New Game’s Releases Will Roughly Coincide, Says Movie Producer
The BioShock movie adaptation has been in discussion for a long time. Less than a year after the original game's debut, publisher Take-Two Interactive announced that it had signed a deal with Universal Studios for a film that would have been directed by Gore Verbinski (The Ring, the first three Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Lone Ranger) and written by John Logan (Gladiator, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Skyfall, and Spectre). The tentative theatrical release window was 2010, but the project kept being put on hold for various concerns, including budget and the director's insistence on […]

Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s Potential Wario Introduction Spoiled By Cinema
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is only a little more than a month away from hitting theaters, as its release date has been moved up to April 1, 2026. When it comes to new character reveals, at least major ones, it feels like we've seen everybody we need to see. Except a theater chain in the UK potentially just spoiled the appearance of another big character from the Mushroom Kingdom - Wario.

35 years ago, Bride of Re-Animator cast a spell with its horror effects
Campy excess is the name of the game in Stuart Gordon’s celebrated 1985 cult hit Re-Animator. His comedy-horror movie has all the hallmarks of a schlocky zombie movie, with tawdry special effects and a storyline that isn’t particularly original. This B-movie sensibility seems at odds with its source material, H.P. Lovecraft’s short story “Herbert West–Reanimator,” which paints a chilling picture of a brilliant mad scientist who pushes the limits of amorality. In Gordon’s film, Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) is brash and impulsive, in spite of his clinically aloof nature. He’s obsessively dedicated to his mission to reanimate corpses. Brian Yuzna’s 1991 sequel, Bride of Re-Animator, keeps Herbert’s obsession alive, but this wacky follow-up lacks the innate charm of Gordon’s movie.

- Jennifer Lawrence sent Emma Stone one brutal text after getting snubbed at the SAG Awards, and their friendship makes it even funnier
Jennifer Lawrence sent Emma Stone one brutal text after getting snubbed at the SAG Awards, and their friendship makes it even funnier
Jennifer Lawrence didn’t hold back when Emma Stone got a SAG Award nomination, and she didn’t. The 35-year-old actress sent her longtime friend a sarcastic text that was both funny and a little petty. Lawrence was left out of the nominations for her role in Die My Love, while Stone, 37, made the cut for Bugonia in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor category.
When Stone’s friends started congratulating her in their group chat, Lawrence had a very different reaction. She simply replied with “WHAT!” followed by a sad face emoji. According to Unilad, Lawrence shared this story during an appearance at 92NY, revealing how she playfully mocked her friend’s success and kept everyone laughing in the audience.
Lawrence told the audience that while everyone was saying “Congratulations, Emma,” she was busy throwing shade. She even joked that every time Stone tried to speak that day, she would ask her why she wasn’t apologizing for getting nominated. Reflecting on their friendship, Lawrence added, “She’s been beating me for decades, but it’s an honor,” showing that her teasing comes from admiration as much as playful rivalry.
The two stars have a long history of friendly competition
This isn’t the first time these two actresses have gone head-to-head. Back in 2010, Lawrence auditioned for the lead role in Easy A but lost it to Stone. Lawrence admitted in a 2017 interview that she really wanted the part of Olive Pendergast. When Stone was sitting right next to her during that conversation, Lawrence jokingly told her, “Well, guess what? You didn’t get it. You didn’t get it because you suck!” Stone simply replied, “Outside.”
The two were introduced years ago by Woody Harrelson, who worked with Lawrence on The Hunger Games and Stone in Zombieland. Stone texted Lawrence asking for her number, and Lawrence replied “F— off!” They’ve been close friends ever since.

Despite the playful rivalry, Lawrence acknowledged that Stone has been winning roles over her for years, calling it “an honor” to compete with her. Lawrence has always been open about why audiences rejected her earlier work. She explained that some projects simply didn’t connect, but every setback pushed her to improve and take on more challenging roles, helping shape her career into what it is today.

Both actresses are nominated for Golden Globes in different categories. Lawrence is up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a drama, while Stone is nominated in the musical or comedy section. Stone will find out on March 1 if she wins the SAG Actor Award for Bugonia. In other Hollywood news, fans recently showed support after Mickey Rourke’s GoFundMe reached its goal.

- First official look at The Legend of Zelda movie shows Link and Zelda looking pretty spot-on
First official look at The Legend of Zelda movie shows Link and Zelda looking pretty spot-on
![]()
After set video leaks popped up online over the weekend, we now have our first official look at both Link and Zelda in The Legend of Zelda movie.
The photos were released on the Nintendo Today app this morning, and they show Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in full garb. And honestly, they both look pretty incredible.

The photos were shown in a short video on the app, confirming again the May 7, 2027 release date for the long-anticipated live-action adaptation of the beloved Nintendo franchise. Hopefully, we can get the full HD version of the photos online soon.
Interestingly, the pictures show Zelda in a costume similar to her appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and not some more classic designs like from earlier games in the series. Link's, meanwhile, appears to feature more of a design similar to his appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. As of now, plot details of the movie are under wraps, but there is plenty of source material for the film to pull from.
The film comes as a partnership between Nintendo and Sony Pictures, and will be directed by Wes Ball, best known for the Maze Runner film trilogy. The movie is now in full production and being shot in New Zealand, and production is likely to last through the spring before heading into post-production and editing.
What are you hoping to see from The Legend of Zelda movie? I'm not the biggest Zelda fan myself, but maybe the movie could convert me (and likely some others). I think both of these young, unknown actors look great in the roles so far, but let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
Update on Nov. 17 at 9:40am CT: Nintendo has posted the full images online and we've added them to the article above.

Predator: Badlands is actually a secret Alien movie (with no Xenomorphs)
We always knew Predator: Badlands was going to be a crossover movie. The first trailer confirmed that Elle Fanning was playing a Synthetic, a robot manufactured by the evil Weyland-Yutani corporation from the Alien franchise. This makes Dan Trachtenberg’s new science-fiction epic a spiritual sequel of sorts to the Alien vs. Predator series. But what the trailers didn’t reveal was just how heavily Badlands would lean into Alien territory — albeit without actually featuring any Xenomorphs.

When will Predator: Badlands be streaming on Hulu?
Predator: Badlandslands in theaters on Nov. 7, bringing the Predator franchise back to the big screen for the first time since Shane Black’s The Predator in 2018. The death planet of Genna looks great on the big screen, as do the hungry monsters our young Yautja Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) must fight to survive. Even better, you don’t need to have watched any previous Alien or Predator films to go see it now. But if you want to wait to hold a Predator marathon with Predator: Badlands director Dan Trachtenberg’s two Hulu originals, Preyand Predator: Killer of Killers, here’s our best guess for when you’ll be able to watch Predator: Badlands in your living room.

- Why I Don’t Want a Relatable Superman: I Want a Hero to Look Up To, Not the New James Gunn Superman
Why I Don’t Want a Relatable Superman: I Want a Hero to Look Up To, Not the New James Gunn Superman
Superman has been an icon for nearly a century. He is the symbol of hope, strength, and doing what is right, no matter the cost. For many of us, he is the ultimate role model, someone who stands tall and inspires us to be better. But lately, the version of Superman in James Gunn’s new take feels different. And not in a good way.
I don’t want a Superman who is “relatable” in the sense that he struggles with everyday problems or doubts himself. I want a Superman who inspires me to be strong, courageous, and unwavering in his values. A Superman who is larger than life, not a mirror reflecting our insecurities.
The Classic Superman: A Symbol to Aspire To
For decades, Superman represented the best of humanity, even though he is an alien from Krypton. He is the guy who stands up for truth, justice, and the greater good. He is unshakable in his morality, always trying to save people and do what is right even when it is hard.
This version of Superman gave us hope. He wasn’t perfect, but his ideals were clear. He didn’t get bogged down by personal drama or endless self-doubt. Instead, he was a beacon of light, a hero to look up to and aspire to be.
Entertainment Is Escapism, Not a Mirror
It is important to remember that movies, comics, and other forms of entertainment are designed to be escapism. They are not meant to reflect the daily grind or every struggle people face in real life. Instead, they offer a break, a chance to step into a world where heroes fight for what is right, where good can triumph over evil, and where ideals like hope and courage shine bright.
Superman, as a symbol of hope, should embody this idea. We watch superhero movies to escape reality, not to be reminded of the anxieties and doubts we face every day. If the hero on screen feels just as lost or uncertain as we are, what is the point of looking up to them? Escapism means giving ourselves permission to believe in something greater than our problems.
The Rise of “Relatable” Heroes
In recent years, Hollywood and comic creators have tried to make superheroes more relatable. This usually means showing their flaws, fears, and personal struggles in a way that makes them seem more like real people. While this can make stories feel more grounded, it can also make heroes seem less inspiring.
With James Gunn’s new Superman, the focus seems to be on making him emotionally vulnerable, insecure, and sometimes even morally questionable. Instead of being a symbol of unwavering hope, he feels more like a guy trying to figure himself out. That is not the Superman many of us grew up loving.
Why Relatability Isn’t Always a Good Thing for Superman
There is a difference between making a hero relatable and making a hero weak. When Superman’s internal struggles overshadow his heroic qualities, it changes the whole point of his character.
We don’t need a Superman who doubts his worth or questions his values every five minutes. We need a Superman who embodies strength, not just physical power but mental and moral strength too. Someone who can show us what it means to rise above our problems instead of getting stuck in them.
Looking Up to Superman
Heroes like Superman help us dream bigger. They remind us that no matter how hard life gets, we can choose to be brave, kind, and selfless. They set a standard for what is possible.
When Superman is rewritten to be overly flawed or uncertain, that standard gets blurry. It becomes harder to admire him or aspire to be like him. And that is a loss, not just for fans but for anyone who needs a symbol of hope in tough times.
What We Need Moving Forward
We need writers and filmmakers to remember why Superman matters. He is not just another person with problems. He is a legend, a hero who reminds us all that goodness and courage can win.
That does not mean he has to be perfect or unrelatable. But his core values and strength should never be compromised for the sake of making him modern or edgy. There is power in standing firm, in being a symbol of hope and justice.
Final Thoughts
I get it, times change and stories evolve. But not every hero needs to be like us in every way. Sometimes, what we really need is a hero above us, someone to look up to and inspire us to be better.
Remember, movies and entertainment are not about mirroring every aspect of our lives. They are about giving us a glimpse of what greatness looks like, a break from reality, and a chance to believe in something bigger.
That is the Superman I want. The one who lifts us up, not one who drags us down with his endless self-doubt.
If you are tired of superheroes who just feel human but don’t inspire you, you are not alone. It is time to bring back the Superman who stands tall and shows us all what true heroism looks like.
