The year may have only just begun, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t new gaming experiences for PS5 players to enjoy. With games like Yakuza Kiwami 3 and High on Life 2, there are already plenty of solid games to experience in 2026. That includes Prize Fighter – Heavyweight Edition, a remaster of the classic Sega CD game.
Originally developed by Digital Pictures, the classic Sega game Prize Fighter returns with Prize Fighter – Heavyweight Edition, a remaster developed and published by Screaming Villains. The new version of the full-motion video game has been “rebuilt from the ground up,” and now includes 4K video, as well as other improvements and features.
Here is a trailer and description of Prize Fighter – Heavyweight Edition, giving PS5 players a glimpse of what to expect from the game’s boxing tale:
“Prize Fighter – Heavyweight Edition takes you closer than a ringside seat – it puts you right in the game. In this remastered Digital Pictures classic, you’re the one slugging it out with the best boxers in the world.
“With your fists in view, you can throw any punch, anytime. A jab. A hook. An uppercut! Land a blow and watch your opponent reel.”
As seen in the trailer, Prize Fighter – Heavyweight Edition is a full FMV experience. The bouts are staged by Ron Stein, who was responsible for choreographing the fights in the critically acclaimed boxing films Raging Bull and Rocky.
Prize Fighter – Heavyweight Edition is available now for PS5 on the PS Store.
This is just one of many great PS5 games to release this month. This isn’t even the first remaster to release this month. Ubisoft released Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition, which includes five versions of the original game. There have also been a couple of remakes released for the PS5, including Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.

The second half of February is filled with several new PS5 game releases that players should be excited about. From the recently released High on Life 2 to the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem, there are some quality titles for PlayStation players to experience. That includes Ys X: Proud Nordics, a solid PS4 RPG that is out today for PS5.
Developed by Nihon Falcom and published by NIS America, Ys X: Proud Nordics is an enhanced version of the action RPG Ys X: Nordics, which was originally released for the PS4 in Japan in 2023. While it is the tenth main entry of the long-running Ys series, there have been many spin-offs. This game takes place between Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished – The Final Chapter and Ys: Memories of Celceta.
Here is a trailer and description for Ys X: Proud Nordics, giving players an idea of what to expect from the action RPG:
“Stand Proud for a new adventure in Ys X: Proud Nordics! Experience Adol and Karja’s unforgettable journey across Obelia Gulf with new quality of life improvements, then discover the new story centering around Oland Island, and the mysterious newcomers Canute and Astrid. And once you’re ready, challenge yourself in the devious, time-trial dungeon of Muspelheim, where every second counts. Your new adventure awaits!”
Ys X: Proud Nordics only has one version on the PS Store. The Standard Edition, which is just the base game, is $59.99.
Ys X: Proud Nordics has received solid review scores just before its release. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 83 based on 8 reviews. In our review, we gave it an 8 out of 10.
“There’s no doubt that Ys X: Proud Nordics is a great action RPG,” reads our review. “Featuring a stellar story and fun combat, the action never gets dull.”The new story content and gameplay additions are great, although veteran fans will have to decide if they want to replay the game this soon again.”

The latest game in a long-running series, which began on the PS2, currently costs next to nothing on the PS Store. This doesn’t look like a mistake, but 2017 PS4 action demolition derby/racing game Flatout 4: Total Insanity is going as low as $0.44 for a limited time. The game is playable on PS5.
PS Plus members have until February 26 to buy Flatout 4 for $0.44. Those without a subscription have to pay $0.67. Either way, the game is under a dollar for everyone and is worth checking out at this price.
For the uninitiated, Flatout first launched on the PS2 in 2004 and went on to spawn seven more games, with a VR title currently in production for PSVR2/PS5. One of the games — Flatout: Head On — was a PSP exclusive. Meanwhile, 2007’s Flatout: Ultimate Carnage was an Xbox 360 console exclusive.
Flatout 4 received mixed reviews, and the series hasn’t seen a new entry since. But that’s set to change with the VR game that’s yet to be dated.
The IP is currently owned by Canadian publisher Strategy First Inc. after changing hands numerous times over the last two decades.

It may still be the beginning of 2026, but there are still plenty of new PlayStation 5 games to keep players busy until the heavy hitters release later this year. From High on Life 2 to Yakuza Kiwami 3, there are tons of new experiences to explore that are available on the PlayStation Store. That includes Styx: Blades of Greed, the newest entry in the stealth action-adventure series.
Developed by Cyanide Studio and published by Nacon, Styx: Blades of Greed is the third entry in the action-adventure series, which began with 2014’s Styx: Master of Shadows. All three entries serve as prequels to Cyanide Studio’s fantasy action RPG, Of Orcs and Men, which was released for the PS3 in 2012.
Here is a description of Styx: Blades of Greed, giving players an idea of what to expect from the newly released PS5 entry:
“No more working for others! This time, our famous green-skinned friend is pursuing his own goal and leading his own crew. Aboard his zeppelin, Styx and his crew hunt down a new, mysterious power source: Quartz. Throughout your mischievous journey, you’ll encounter familiar faces and colorful new characters while outwitting the Inquisition’s traps. This adventure marks the beginning of the Great War and the creation of the Black Hand, the mercenary group central to the events of Of Orcs and Men.”
There are several different editions of Styx: Blades of Greed to choose from. The Standard Edition, which just comes with the base game, is $49.99. The Quartz Edition, which includes some extra goodies, is $59.99. Lastly, the most expensive edition, titled Styx Collection, includes everything from the Quartz Edition plus the first two games, Styx: Master of Shadows and Styx: Shards of Darkness, for $69.99. Here is everything included in the Styx Collection:
Just before its release, Styx: Blades of Greed has been getting decent reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it has garnered an average score of 75 based on 16 critic reviews.

GameStop, the largest retailer dedicated to videogames, is reportedly shutting down hundreds of stores in the United States. The reports started appearing on social media and were quickly conflated into one very long list on the 'GameStop Closing List' blog, which reckons there are at least 410 GameStop stores confirmed to be closing and another 11 reported but as of yet unconfirmed. This is only the latest round of closures for the retailer headquartered in Grapevine, Texas. In the annual 10-K SEC filing issued in February 2025, the company stated: We have also initiated a comprehensive store portfolio optimization review […]
