Eidos Montréal Might Have Canceled a Legacy of Kain Game; New Layoffs Reported

As spotted on Reddit's r/gamingleaksandrumors channel, renowned developer Eidos Montréal appears to have laid off more employees for the third time in less than two years. The first time was in January 2024, when Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that the new Deus Ex project they had been working on got canceled by parent company Embracer Group. We later learned that the project was then shopped around to other publishers, but none picked it up because they felt it was too niche. Reflections In Red is a new Thief fan level based on a very stupid castle from the Arkane Lyon dev behind The Black Parade

Arkane Lyon level designer and Thief: The Dark Project modder Romain Barrilliot is back with another fan creation - a Thief 2 castle heist Barrilliot calls "by far my most ambitious work in the Dark Engine to date", presumably including his previous group project The Black Parade, despite being "purely based on vibes". Called Reflections In Red, it's a sequel to Barrilliot's Winds Of Misfortune, though it works well as a standalone release. It's also based on a real-life castle so preposterous I have no choice but to immediately steal the deeds from what I assume is a heavily fortified bank vault inside a creepy mountain somewhere.
