The digital edition of the book costs 3,520 yen (or about $22.35). The physical version originally released in 2019. The book goes into detail about the technology used to develop the AI for companion characters, NPCs, and monsters in Final Fantasy XV, as well as an invisible meta-AI system that works in a similar way to a “game master.” In addition, the book includes talks with various FFXV programmers, designers, and members of the development team that offer their perspective into the future of video game artificial intelligence.

Back in May 2022, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy XV had surpassed over 10 million units sold worldwide, including sales of the base console game, the PC version, and the Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition.

The “Artificial Intelligence in Final Fantasy XV - The Future Seen Through Game AI” digital book is now available and it costs 3,520 yen (~$22.35). Final Fantasy XV is readily available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

If you think modern Final Fantasy stories are deviating from the classics with their convoluted time travel and dimensional shenanigans, think again. The very first Final Fantasy game featured time travel as a core plot element. Yes, that’s right, the classic medieval Final Fantasy games of yore had their fair share of sci-fi wonkiness in them, and it wasn’t always easy to understand either.

Games have always struggled a bit with the fundamental truth that we, as humans, need to eat in order to survive. The problem is that cooking and eating slow us down and take us out of the action, because theytake time. It wouldn't do for Nathan Drake to hang about making a sandwich before exploring a Nepalese temple, now, would it?

Final Fantasy XV Event Returns to FFXIV With Regalia Mount

It’s been a while, but the Final Fantasy XV A Nocturne of Heroes event will return to Final Fantasy XIV, giving FFXIV players access to the FFXV Regalia Type-G mount, Noctis-themed equipment, and other items again. When it returns on February 28, 2024, it will mark the third time the event appeared in the game.

As this is a returning event, people may have already started or completed everything. If you already did it, you can find everything in Seasonal Event Replay. If you haven’t, you can pick up where you left off. To start A Nocturne of Heroes, you need to head to Ul’dah, Steps of Nald, at X: 8.5, Y: 9.7. There you’ll find Kipih Jakkya, if you never began the questline and meet requirements. You need to have beaten the 2.0 quest “The Ultimate Weapon” and hit level 50 with your character if you want to begin. Doing so will start a quest called “The Man in Black,” and completing that will lead into the follow-up quests “In the Dark of Night” and “Messenger of the Winds.”

Lots of crossover items and rewards are coming up with it, and here’s the list of things you can get:

  • “Apocalypsis Noctis” Orchestrion Roll
  • “Hammerhead” Orchestrion Roll
  • Lucian Prince’s Bottoms
  • Lucian Prince’s Boots
  • Lucian Prince’s Fingerless Glove
  • Lucian Prince’s Jacket
  • Modern Aesthetics - Lucian Locks
  • Noctis Lucis Caelum Triple Triad Card
  • “A Quick Pit Stop” Orchestrion Roll
  • Regalia Type-G Mount
  • “Relax and Reflect” Orchestrion Roll
