The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is Samsung's next flip phone with a foldable screen, and it will likely be announced during the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024. However, it appears that the phone's cameras will be dead on arrival, as rival flip phones from other brands will have higher-resolution or telephoto cameras.

One such phone is Motorola's RAZR 50 Ultra. This phone has a bigger cover screen and a dedicated high-resolution telephoto camera.

Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra Green

According to leaked images (via @evleaks) and specifications of the Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra, the phone has a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 50MP telephoto camera with OIS and 2x optical zoom. Its selfie camera uses a 32MP sensor. All these cameras can record up to 4K 60fps videos.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will reportedly have a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP selfie camera. All its cameras can also record up to 4K 60fps videos.

While Samsung may offer an in-sensor crop for optical quality 2x zoom in the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the RAZR 50 Ultra will likely offer up to 5x optical quality zoom using the same method as Samsung's.

The other specifications of the RAZR 50 Ultra include a 6.9-inch 165Hz pOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 4-inch cover screen, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, 12GB RAM, and 256GB/512GB storage. It is reportedly powered by a 4,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging and wireless charging.

It will reportedly cost $999 in the US and €1,200 in Europe.

Watch our review of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the video below. The article continues after the video.

The RAZR 50 Ultra is expected to go official soon and become available globally in June, a month earlier than the Galaxy Z Flip 6. If these reports are accurate, the RAZR 50 Ultra looks better specced than the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Samsung's upcoming phone will have a more powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and much better software support (likely 7 major Android OS updates). However, its screen, cameras, and charging are not as good as Motorola's.

Which will you choose? Galaxy Z Flip 6 or RAZR 50 Ultra?

It remains to be seen if people prefer the Galaxy Z Flip 6 or the RAZR 50 Ultra. Even Xiaomi is expected to launch its first flip phone, which will reportedly feature three cameras: a primary wide-angle, an ultrawide, and a telephoto.

Samsung is expected to unveil its first laptop featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite processor later today. This upcoming laptop is called the Galaxy Book 4 Edge, and its pricing and specifications were leaked over the past week. Now, details regarding the laptop's Bluetooth connectivity have been revealed.

Galaxy Book 4 Edge features Bluetooth 5.4

Ahead of the launch, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge appears to have passed through the Bluetooth SIG certification. According to the Bluetooth certification authority's database, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge has model number NP940XMA and features Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. This upcoming laptop likely uses the Snapdragon X Elite chipset's FastConnect 7800 subsystem for wireless connectivity. It features a built-in 5G modem, GPS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB 4.0 (Thunderbolt 3).

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge Bluetooth 5.4 Certification

This listing also reveals that the Galaxy Book 4 Edge runs Windows 11. Previously leaked images of the laptop have revealed that its 14-inch version has a tenkeyless keyboard layout, a large trackpad, two USB 4.0 ports, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The 16-inch version has a full-sized keyboard with a numpad, a USB Type-A port, and a microSD card slot in addition to all the ports on the 14-inch version.

Both laptops feature the Snapdragon X Elite processor with 12 CPU cores and the Adreno GPU. However, the 14-inch version might use a variant of the Snapdragon X Elite with a lower clock speed for the CPU and the GPU. Both laptops reportedly feature 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It is unclear if these laptops will be available with higher RAM and storage capacities.

You can watch our Galaxy Book 4 Ultra hands-on video below. The story continues after this video.

According to some reports, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge Pro (16-inch) can last up to 22 hours on a single charge for video playback. This laptop version uses a 61.8Wh battery and features 65W fast charging. However, these figures are for offline 1080p video playback (150 nits screen brightness and Airplane Mode turned on). Real-life battery life will likely be half of the quoted figures, but even that is impressive.

The 14-inch version of the Galaxy Book 4 Edge will likely have a smaller battery. Both variants feature Super AMOLED screens with 3K resolution and 400 nits peak brightness. They will likely come with a 120Hz refresh rate and DisplayHDR 400 certification with HDR10+ video playback capabilities.

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge might start at around $1,800, while the Galaxy Book 4 Edge Pro might cost around $2,000. These laptops are said to go on pre-order today in some countries and become available for purchase on June 17, 2024.

Back in February, Google upgraded Android’s Photo Picker with the ability to display photos and videos that are stored locally as well as in cloud backups apps, such as Google Photos, on the same screen. A month later, the company made the feature available on Samsung’s devices as well.

Unfortunately, this new feature in Android’s Photo Picker lacks a very basic and needful option, and that is the ability to search for photos. Due to that, you have to manually go through all the photos to find the one you are looking for, which could take a lot of time. Well, that's going to change soon.

The story continues after the video…

On the second day of Google I/O 2024, Google revealed that it will soon upgrade Android’s Photo Picker with a search option (via Android Authority). This option should appear as a search bar in the user interface. You will then be able to search for a photo by describing it in the search bar, which should save you a lot of time.

What’s even more impressive is that the search functionality will work for files that are stored locally as well as in the cloud backup apps, which should save you even more time. Google says that this feature is coming “later this year.” We hope that the company rolls out this feature quickly as it will be very helpful to many people.

Fortunately, last month we got to know that the company had started testing Chat Lock on linked devices by rolling it out to a limited number of people. Well, Meta is now making the feature available to more people.

According to a new report from WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.11.9) offers the Chat Lock feature on linked devices as well. More importantly, the feature seems to be available for everyone who is using this version of the app rather than just to a select few users.

The story continues after the video…

At the moment, there’s no information about when Meta will make this feature available in the stable version of WhatsApp. However, we expect the company to roll it out to the public after thoroughly testing it in the beta version of the app, which could take at least a couple of weeks.

In 2020, Samsung launched Samsung Care+ in India, a series of plans that offer extended warranty and/or accidental damage protection for Samsung’s devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Well, Samsung India has just made an announcement about Samsung Care+ and we can’t get our heads around it.

Samsung has issued a press release announcing that it has launched Samsung Care+ in India. It doesn’t make sense considering that the company has already been offering the service in the country for the last four years. It looks like the brand is just relaunching the service to let more people know that such a thing exists and attract more customers.

No, Samsung hasn't upgraded Samsung Care+ in India with more benefits

Some publications have reported that the announcement is about the company upgrading Samsung Care+ to offer two screen replacements per year instead of one. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case as Samsung hasn’t mentioned that upgrade anywhere in the press release.

In fact, the page for Samsung Care+ on Samsung’s website for India clearly says “Under Screen Protection, ADLD & Comprehensive Protection Samsung Care+ plans, you are allowed to raise One (1) damage claim per year.” The same condition is also mentioned on the buying page.

The story continues after the video…

We have come across an image from Samsung that says “Multiple Claims Zero Worries,” which the company seems to have taken down. We think that it would have given some people the notion that the company will now offer at least two screen replacements per year rather than one. However, that isn’t the case.

On a related note, Samsung has given owners of Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in the United States a (second) chance to purchase Samsung Care+. The campaign is live for a limited period of time. So, if you are interested, now is the time to act.

Samsung's latest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Watch 6 Classic, support charging at up to 10W. Well, it looks like the company's upcoming smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 7, will feature a 50% faster charging speed than the current models.

A little while ago, we reported that FCC had listed the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch 7 FE on its website. Well, after taking a closer look at the listing, we have discovered documents which reveal that the Galaxy Watch 7 supports 15W charging.

Galaxy Watch 7 to feature 15W charging

According to the certifications documents, one of the four variants of the Galaxy Watch 7, SM-L305, supports charging at 5V and 3A, which calculates to 15W. The other three variants of the upcoming smartwatch, SM-L300, SM-L310, and SM-L315, should also feature 15W charging.

That means the Galaxy Watch 7 should theoretically take 50% less time to get charged than the Galaxy Watch 6, which takes around one hour and thirty minutes to get charged from 0% to 100%. So, in theory, the Galaxy Watch 7 should take only 45 minutes to get charged from empty to full.

Galaxy Watch 7 FE to have a much slower charging speed

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t extended the faster charging speed to the Galaxy Watch 7 FE. In fact, the certification documents show that the Galaxy Watch 7 FE supports only 5W charging, which is 50% slower than that of the Galaxy Watch 6.

With that, Samsung’s upcoming affordable smartwatch could take almost three hours to get charged from 0% to 100%, which is quite a lot. It would be interesting to see what charging speed the Galaxy Watch 7 Pro Classic/Pro features.

Google is finally improving the design of Google Maps, which is slowly rolling out to some users with Android smartphones. This new version of Google Maps brings a new bottom bar with three tabs, as reported by 9To5Google.

This new design could be available for some Galaxy smartphone and tablet users. Other Galaxy users might get it in the next few weeks.

Google Maps gets a new bottom bar with three tabs

The new version (version 11.127.x) of Google Maps simplifies the bottom bar for all users. Instead of five tabs, it has just three: Explore, You, and Contribute. It still has all the functionality of the older version of the app, as the You tab includes features that were earlier listed in the Go, Saved, and Updates tabs.

Google Maps Android New Bottom Bar Three Tabs

In the You tab, there is no search bar. Notifications and Business Messages can be accessed from the top right corner of the screen. The Go section from the old version of the app is now named Saved Trips and resides in the You tab.

Google Maps still doesn't use the Material You design, and Google might be too cautious. The app is used by billions of users worldwide, and a sudden design change could confuse many users. Google announced this new design in March and has now started rolling it out to some users worldwide.

Earlier this year, Google merged Android's Nearby Share feature with Samsung's Quick Share. This new wireless file-sharing system is a lot faster than the previous one, and it is about to get even better, as reported by Android Authority with the help of developer Assemble Debug.

Quick Share can share files even faster via QR codes

Right now, Quick Share works by finding nearby compatible devices through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. However, finding devices can sometimes take a lot of time, particularly when the phones aren't connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Google has developed a way to make connections faster, and that's through QR codes.

Google Play Quick Share QR Code Google Play Quick Share QR Code Option

The latest beta version of Google Play Services (v24.20.13) introduces QR codes that users can scan to initiate an instant connection for sharing files wirelessly via Quick Share. When sharing files via Quick Share, the user can click the ‘Share With QR Code' option, which generates a QR code. The receiver can then scan the QR code, after which both devices will initiate a connection for file transfer.

You can watch the improved Quick Share feature in our video below.

This new feature isn't live on Android smartphones and tablets but is expected to be released soon. The feature may go live on devices running Android 15 in the future.

The new Quick Share feature is available on Android TV, Chrome OS, and Windows. It is as close as Android users can get to Apple's AirDrop feature for sharing files, text, URLs, and other things.

Samsung will launch the company’s next lineup of smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 7 series, at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which, as we exclusively reported, will take place on 10 July 2024. The Galaxy Watch 7 lineup will have three models: Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch 7 Classic/Pro, and Galaxy Watch 7 FE.

So far, there have been plenty of leaks and rumors about the Galaxy Watch 7 models, which have shed light on their features. The wearables have also been spotted on multiple platforms, which have confirmed their existence. Now, the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch 7 FE have been spotted on another certification platform.

Galaxy Watch 7, Watch 7 FE spotted on FCC

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has listed the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch 7 FE on the agency's website (via Droid Life). The listing mentions five model numbers of the smartwatches, SM-L300, SM-L305, SM-L310, SM-L315, and SM-R861, all of which were spotted earlier on various certifications platforms, including Bluetooth SIG.

The SM-L300 and the SM-L305 could be the 40mm and 44mm variants of the Galaxy Watch 7 without cellular connectivity. The SM-L310 and SM-L315 could be the 40mm and 44mm variants of the Galaxy Watch 7 with cellular connectivity. The last model, SM-R861, could be the Galaxy Watch 7 FE, a more affordable version of the Galaxy Watch 7.

The story continues after the video…

This certification of the Galaxy Watch 7 series further strengthens our speculation that Samsung will launch it at the next Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. In the meantime, you can check out our video above to know how Samsung's current flagship smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, performs.
