Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Part 3 Is Officially Titled Revelation, Coming Next Spring
Time for the reunion

Tonight during the Summer Game Fest showcase, developer Aurogon Shanghai unveiled a brand new trailer for the upcoming action-adventure RPG Swords of Legends.
Welcome back, Mr. Keighley. Your showcase is ready.
A new iteration of Summer Game Fest is here, and the de facto E3 “replacement” has its biggest crowd and stage yet at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Announcements, surprises, and Muppets are sure to delight…and/or disappoint in a big way.
As always, rumors are swirling about what to expect. Star Wars: Zero Company, Dead by Daylight, and Guild Wars are just a handful of the games confirmed to appear, so speculation is as rampant as ever. Will we hear about big franchises like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and everything in between?
Buckle up and turn up your air conditioning, because it’s about to be a hot summer if Geoff has anything to do with it. Follow along below to see the new announcements and trailers as they come in.

The show begins on June 5 at 4pm CT and should run for about two hours. Below, you will find a recap of everything shown during the showcase, so keep it locked here for updates.
Before the show began, Keighley confirmed that the final announcement “will be a single player, narrative game,” responding to feedback about The Game Awards’ placement of the Highguard trailer at the end of the show this past December. Funny guy.
Today's final announcement at #SummerGamefest will be a single player, narrative game.

Thank you for the feedback!
And now, the show begins.

The next remake in the Resident Evil franchise brings it back to the Redfields: Claire and Chris star in Capcom’s latest return, Resident Evil: Veronica, due to launch in 2027.
Side-scrolling shooter with intense difficulty? Yeah! It’s coming, a sequel that’s hand-animated like the original. But that’s all that the studio had to say for now…other than yet another all-new project from the studio, Mighty Cuphead Adventure, an 8-bit action platformer.

It’s finally happening. The 2014 survival horror classic is finally getting “an authentic, new chapter that builds on that isolating experience,” and the debut trailer looks horrifying.

From the creator of Shadow of the Colossus, this is the first we’ve seen of Project Robot in many years. Fumito Ueda’s next game looks stunning, as you’d expect…and this time he’s trying his hand at a third-person shooter. It’s called gen ATLAS.

I thought this game looked too good to be true visually when it was first revealed. It still kind of does. Breathtaking visuals, visceral combat, and more set in 848 AD China, this one is looking like a title to keep your eyes on.

Masayoshi Yokoyama took the stage, in the US for the first time in two decades, to talk more about Yakuza prequel Stranger Than Heaven. And yeah, Tupac Shakur is in it. It’s launching on Jan. 15, 2027. Snoop Dogg is in it, too. I don’t know, either.
The Division and Little Nightmares devs debuted a first look at a new action/adventure title from a new studio. The studio is called Dead Astronauts, and the game is looking quite unique, with some weird alien monsters and shapeshifting cubes in the first-person footage.
Pennywise the Clown from IT sounds like he’s next up to join the ever-expansive DBD universe for its upcoming anniversary party.
The open beta for the Soulslike sequel is now available.

A server slam is going on now for this new title on Steam.
A new trailer for the AC4 remake showed off some cool footage and updated visuals. It’s launching soon on July 9.

Holy shit. Platinum Games is back and they are making a Ninja Turtles game based on the legendary Last Ronin story. I just jumped.
Ben Starr took the stage to talk about Fortnite’s new live event, which is happening after the show.

This very Armored Core-looking title takes the mech fighting into space, using the Gundam IP in a very pretty way.
A cute co-op title from a solo developer, this one’s launching next month. Looks like you need to balance a nest to stop an egg from breaking.

A single-player third-person military shooter that evokes Ghost Recon vibes and has Claudia Doumit in a starring role, complete with some sort of sci-fi twist? Sign me up.
Another new look at the next game from Remedy, Control Resonant launches later this year on Sept. 24.

A URL registration spilled the beans on this one earlier, but the next Guild Wars game is coming. It can already be wishlisted on Steam, and the beta is coming in 2027. They’re calling it “the next evolution of the MMORPG.”
A brand new planet on display for the Star Wars racing game, due to launch on Oct. 6. It’s got Sebulba in it, so now, THIS really is pod-racing.

A new third-person horror title is dropping later this year on Oct. 1.

A first-person zombie apocalypse game on a boat.

This one brings back vivid memories of the arcade growing up. A new Virtua Fighter game is on the way, and it’s looking pretty gorgeous with a full-fledged narrative to boot.
The Runescape MMO is fully launching in September.
A new trailer for the Soulframe pre-alpha attempts to recruit new players.
The survival game and its Into the Abyss update is coming to PS5.

A story expansion to last year’s Mafia, featuring the boss from the original game, is coming in August.

The creative director of Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed 2 finally revealed their new game, many years in the making. It looks real witchcrafty, but the game’s prologue is free to download on Steam, a 30-minute story experience. It’s coming to early access later this year.

Billy the Puppet pedaled on stage to reveal a new game from the SAW franchise, and it’s being made by Bloober Team, so it’s got a real chance to be spooky. It’s a first-person, three-vs-one multiplayer title and it even includes Jigsaw himself.
A new trailer for the upcoming Soulslike is coming to Steam later this year.

The XCOM-like Star Wars strategy game is looking like a must-play, and it’s got an official release date: Aug. 27. And Anakin Skywalker is in it. Let’s ride.
The vampire adventure game got a new trailer ahead of its Sept. 3 launch. The game’s gimmick is that, as a vampire, you play across multiple regions and time periods.

A story mode game for Among Us? Sure, why not? And the Among Us animated series is now available to stream on Paramount Plus.

A new story mission featuring Bawma is coming to the latest James Bond game later this year.

A new elder dragon arrives in 2027’s latest DLC for Capcom’s monster-slashing and hammering franchise, which looks like it’s headed to a kingdom in the clouds.

This game was like the biggest thing ever when it came out a couple years ago. And it’s finally getting its 1.0 release date and big content update on July 10.

Okay, I’m awake now! This game has been missing in action and long-awaited, and a new trailer finally dropped to kick the latter half of SGF into gear. Welcome back, Telltale. It’s coming in 2027. The original game is also being re-released on current gen consoles in a Remastered version later this year.

Shift Up is back, and the next game in the Stellar Blade franchise is coming. Eve is being replaced by a new protagonist, and her name is Evie.

Several new characters are coming to SF6 this year: Yasmine, Bosch, Arjun…and Tifa Lockheart from Final Fantasy 7.

The final chapter of the FF7 remake trilogy has been confirmed. The party has new outfits, and a new part of the world to explore. It will be launching simultaneously on all platforms, kicking the trend of launching on PS5 first.
Matt Mercer, voice of newly-playable Vincent Valentine, took the stage to show off a deep dive in the game. It’s an open-world title with the Highwind ship as a main mechanic, and you can drop into wherever you want at any time. Cid is also playable in the newest game, too, finally filling out the roster.

The finale is launching on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in spring 2027.

SEGA has revealed Virtua Fighter Crossroads, the new name for the next entry in the Virtua Fighter series. The game is set to release in 2027.
After a splashy Summer Game Fest trailer, they hosted a dedicated showcase in the wee hours of the night for us. Check out the SGF trailer first
And then the showcase:
In a reveal that makes me think about how the original Shenmue was a spin-off to the early Sega Saturn Virtua Fighter games, Virtua Fighter Crossroads is much more than just a fighting game, and promises a deep narrative-drive action-adventure that will feel familiar to fans of Ryu Ga Gotoku’s other work.
In addition to 1v1 fights, the game will expand to multi-opponent brawls and boss encounters, and while story is a newfound focus, there will be a full suite of local and online options for the purist fighting game fans.
But what about that story? RGG has brought together a writing team with Scenario Writer Shinji Yamamoto coming from the Persona series, Scenario Director Tsyoshi Furata from Like A Dragon and Judgment, as well as Brad Kane as lead writer (As Dusk Falls, Ghost of Tsushima, You vs. Wild: Out Cold), and David Hayter as the Wold Building Supervisor.
Crossroads takes players to a world without guns, meaning that crime syndicate now rely on fisticuffs.
Here’s the plot breakdown:
“The use of firearms in this city will be punished by death.”
President Bato has made Vilasapara a key part of his reelection campaign, as he positions the city’s “Vila Fight Fest” as the solution to the country’s economic woes. He seeks to bring the underground fighting tournament to the world stage as a national sport. His plans are probably unrelated to the recent series of attacks on martial artists by a man dubbed The Bakunawa Killer, but who can truly say.
It is at this crossroads that the fates of four strangers will intersect, causing phantoms from decades past begin to stir… and changing the city of Vilasapara forever.
Known as the “City of Martial Arts,” this island city is composed of multiple distinct districts, including a walled central city, entertainment districts, and resort areas. In addition to the main storyline, players can explore various side stories and quests, each featuring unique locations tied to each narrative and highlighting the connections formed with the locals.
Sounds pretty wild, if you ask me. And I think we’re all familiar with how law abiding criminal gangs can be when it comes to both gun use and capital punishment.

Today during Summer Game Fest’s main showcase, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced that legendary rapper and activist Tupac Shakur—who died in 1996—will be in its jazzy new historical Yakuza-like, Stranger Than Heaven. Nobody asked for this, and an only slightly larger number like it.
Snoop Dogg, who will also appear in the game, was brought out to explain the puzzling inclusion.
"The Tupac estate and my son and myself, we work very closely together, so it just made sense to put him in this game,” Snoop told Geoff Keighley. “His likeness and his spirit still lives on, and I just feel like it was so connected to what we're doing."
But it’s still an act of digital necromancy involving a man who, crucially, cannot object. The dead deserve to rest, but instead, the modern era turns their ghosts into IP. This isn’t even the first dead person RGG has shamelessly boasted will appear in Stranger Than Heaven. That not-honor goes to Japanese actor Bunta Sugawara, who passed away in 2014. At least in his case, it’s confirmed he’s not getting the Val Kilmer treatment, with actor Takashi Ukaji providing his voice instead of AI.
Still, the whole thing feels gross, which caused “Tupac” to trend on both X and Bluesky for the wrong reasons.
They're putting Tupac in a Yakuza game with "Snoop Dogg's blessing." Snoop Dogg shills for anything. He would dig up Tupac's bones and shoot them out of a cannon into the sea if it meant a paycheck.
— Mallorie Malcontent ✨ (@sweetbeanscomix.bsky.social) June 5, 2026 at 2:42 PM
First it was the scumbag in Yakuza 3, and now they’re digitally animating Tupac’s corpse? Yeah, I think I might be done with anything RGG does for the foreseeable future. Incredibly tone deaf and disrespectful.

— Judgement Kazzy 1988 (@2005Dojima) June 5, 2026
All this after RGG already found itself in hot water earlier this year for refusing to dismiss a voice actor who admitted to sexual assault and generally dropping the ball on the Yakuza series’ latest remake, Kiwami 3. For some, it’s starting to look like Stranger Than Heaven might end up being the last straw.

For reasons that will never fully be understood, Geoff Keighley’s annual beach-flavored ode to video games is called Summer Game Fest, singular, not Summer Games Fest, plural, even though it includes far more than one game. Because of this, many mistakenly call it Summer Games Fest—and also search for it incorrectly online.
As we at Aftermath sleuthed out last year, one man, Epic Games senior trust and safety investigations manager Bruce Knapik, has been sitting on the summergamesfest.com URL for six years, having it redirect to a variety of causes. At times, that’s meant in-jokes like a picture of a taco shell with a sausage in it, while at others the URL has sent visitors to pages intended to support Black Lives Matter, Palestine, and laid-off games journalists.
This year, Knapik has changed things up again; while the URL was at various points this year marshalled in service of friend of the site Stella Sacco and laid-off game developers more broadly, it now redirects to the Transgender Law Center. For Knapik, this one’s personal.
“Trans rights have been important to me my entire adult life,” Knapik wrote on Bluesky. “My first job after leaving the Army (which no one who knows me will admit happened) was for my mother at the Hippo in Baltimore. The Hippo was, to my knowledge, the largest queer nightclub in Baltimore, maybe the state. … It wasn't my first time among LGBTQ+ communities—my mother is a lesbian, my friends were sometimes queer, and people I had known throughout my time in the Army transitioned immediately afterwards—but my time there did more to shape me into an upstanding person than service ever did.”
Knapik believes that homophobes and transphobes are a dying breed in the grand scheme of things, but they’re not going out quietly.
“I (perhaps naïvely) believe there are fewer of those people these days, but they are inarguably louder and more powerful than ever. They hold office, they own websites,” he wrote. “UFC fucking champions posting AI videos depicting hate crimes. Shit we didn't accept from YouTubers a decade ago has become passé behavior for major public figures. So yeah, the silly typo website redirects to a place that fights as well as anyone can for trans people in this environment. I'm just garden-variety bi, but I've been within the echo radius of trans hate—and trans joy—for decades, and seen how gleefully the former shreds the path to the latter.”
It wouldn’t be Summer Games Fest, plural, (as opposed to Summer Game Fest, singular) without some fraction of tongue planted in cheek, however. Currently, if you post the URL on a site like Bluesky, it auto-populates with “Gamergate Was A Jeff Epstein Joint.”

1000xResist developer Sunset Visitor revealed its next project, Prove You're Human, this past April, and today, during Summer Game Fest and Day of the Devs, the studio dug more into the creepy, human-driven narrative it has coming next. A new trailer showcased some additional gameplay, with narrative designer Pinki Li and animator Daniel Beaulieu talking about the creation of the game's protagonist, Mesa, an AI that believes she's a human. While 1000xResist remains an incredibly timely work of art grappling with the impact of the 2020 and 2021 lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prove You're Human is proving once […]

Shift Up made an appearance during today's Summer Game Fest 2026 show, with its follow-up game to Stellar Blade revealed to be Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. While the first game followed Eve, Blood Rain focuses on a new protagonist, Evie, which certainly won't confuse anyone. Shift Up calls Blood Rain "the next chapter" in the Stellar Blade franchise, one that goes "beyond" the events of the first game. We've known that Shift Up was working on a sequel for a while now, so today's announcement was always just a case of when it would reveal rather than if it would […]

Besides announcing the Resident Evil Code Veronica remake, which is dropping the “Code” from the original's name, CAPCOM had other announcements to share during this year's Summer Game Fest showcase. Among them was a massive expansion to Monster Hunter Wilds called Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance, which is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2027. The announcement trailer provided the first look at a brand-new location filled with floating islands and ruins, which already looks significantly more vibrant than anything in the base game. In addition, the trailer also provided a look at the core new […]

After being fully revealed as Stranger Than Heaven during Summer Game Fest 2025, in the 2026 show, RGG Studio returned to reveal that we'll all be able to jump into Stranger Than Heaven alongside Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur on January 15, 2027. The trailer was capped off with the reveal that Tupac had joined the game's cast, something made possible due to the relationship between Snoop Dogg and Tupac's family. "The Tupac estate and my son and myself, we work very closely together," Snoop Dogg said during the onstage presentation. "So it just made sense to put him in […]

Following the successful release of Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year, the beloved survival-horror series by CAPCOM will return in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 with Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the classic entry in the series originally released on the SEGA Dreamcast back in 2000. The rumored remake was announced during today's Summer Game Fest showcase just as previously rumored with a deceptive trailer that only showed the modern recreation of Claire Redfield at its very end, alongside the game's name, which will drop "Code" from the original.
