There are only four different playable classes in Earth Defense Force 6, but they all have a very unique playstyle that separates them from the rest. These classes include the Ranger, the Air Raider, the Wing Diver, and the Fencer. Each playable class has their own gimmicks, their own specialized weaponry, their own unique systems, and their own pros/cons. The Fencer, for example, is Earth Defense Force 6's 'tank class' with a lot of heavy weaponry and close-range options.

Review: Those Games 2 Gets Genuinely Challenging

D3 Publisher’s Yeah! You Want “Those Games,” Right? So Here You Go! Now, Let’s See You Clear Them series may sound like some gimmick. After all, the premise takes the games from mobile ads and turning them into actual minigames for each collection. Yeah! You Want “Those Games,” Right? So Here You Go! Now, Let’s See You Clear Them, which we’ll call Those Games 2 going forward, extends the premise by bringing back one type of mobile game from the original and adding four more to the mix. It can get shockingly challenging sometimes!

The returning minigame based on fake mobile game ads in Those Games 2 is Pin Pull, aptly called Pin Pull 2. It draws inspiration from the ones where you see two sad people freezing or something, like the Homescapes ads, and you need to pull pins in the correct spots and order to get them coal to warm themselves up. These are joined by Draw & Guard (the one where you draw to save a Shiba Inu from bees), Knock-Back Shooter (Evony: The King’s Return), Numbers Dungeon (Hero Wars), and Spellbinding Scroll (also Evony). All of the inspirations are incredibly obvious, and they all play the way they seem to in those ads on places like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter/X.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QQTlwzc8fc

The number of puzzles for minigames vary, with some only being around 20 and others past 40. You earn up to three stars per stage depending on the speed with which you solve the puzzle. I was shocked going in at how strong all of the Those Games 2 minigames are, considering they are based on fake mobile ads. When I’d see the “inspiration” for Draw & Guard online, it usually seemed like a circle, a line shaped like a capital I, or one shaped like an H would do the trick. However, elements like fire or collapsing blocks mean it gets genuinely challenging. The first few stages of Knock-Back Shooter are incredibly easy, but after about 15 in I started only managing 1-2 stars per level due to needing to figure things out. (The brick blocks for areas helps with determining angles and where to shoot a lot!)

Pin Pull 2 and Spellbinding Scroll ended up being my favorites. In the case of Pin Pull 2, new elements like rocks that prevent things from getting past, switches, and items that can negate the heating or cooling effect of the items you’re trying to get to the bottom really do make you think about the proper order. I did notice a little control issue with pulling items in later stages, perhaps because so many pins were around. There’s a lot to consider though, and it’s genuinely thoughtful. With Spellbinding Scroll, the idea of knowing which one to “keep shooting” to make numbers go down seems easy. However, a few stages there left me really plotting when it came to prioritizing targets in a way I didn’t expect. I do wish it was a bit more responsive

The only minigame based on a mobile ad in Those Games 2 that didn’t actualized properly is Numbers Dungeon. This isn’t because the concept isn’t sound or it was too easy. There are some great ideas here, such as dropping roads that keep you from doubling back, items that increase or reduce your number, and stages that really do require you to figure out the right “road” through what is actually a labyrinth of challenges. Rather, it’s the inputs. You can’t just press up, down, left, or right on the Switch. You have to cycle through the directions. That eats away at your time. Plus, while I got accustomed to that, I did accidentally send the little warrior down the wrong path twice.

Minor missteps aside with controls side, Those Games 2 can be a genuinely strong minigame collection. It gives a perfect amount of games for each fake mobile game ad, so you don’t feel like they wear out their welcome. They do get genuinely challenging after the first 10 levels, in many cases. It’s a fun game to play when you just want to take 10-15 minutes to play something and feel smart, and doing so in short bursts helps keep you from noticing that some levels can get repetitive.

Yeah! You Want “Those Games,” Right? So Here You Go! Now, Let’s See You Clear Them! 2 is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam.

YEAH! YOU WANT “THOSE GAMES,” RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM! 2 is the sequel to YEAH! YOU WANT “THOSE GAMES,” RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM!. I will just refer to them going forward as Those Games 2 and Those Games 1. This series takes those ubiquitous fake mobile games ads and turns the fake games portrayed into actual mini-games. I reviewed Those Games 1 and the review did pretty well. So I’m reviewing the sequel, which brings four new games and one returning one. Like the last review, I will review each of the games.

Those Games 2: Knock-Back Shooter

Knock-Back Shooter is a game where you have to bounced a bullet off the walls and hit your target, without hitting yourself. You have a certain number of shots. The less you use, the better your score. I found it fine for what it is, but there are better games in Those Games 2.

Draw & Guard

Draw and Guard is where you draw a line to save yourself from bats. The hook is that the line becomes a physical object and can be pushed by bats. The goal is to survive ten seconds. I found this the easiest in Those Games 2 because the answer is often self-evident based on the stage layout, as seen above.

Those Games 2: Spellbinding Scroll

Those Games 2

This game is the one usually as your character shooting things, like zombies or monsters. Here you’re a women shooting arrows to enchant men. Each arrow has a value and you must shoot enough arrows to fill the heart. If you get hit, you lose whatever the value of the heart was. Hit 0 points, game over. Things get more complicated later with gates that affect your point values, and negative arrows flying at you. I think this is the best game in Those Games 2, I loved it.

Pull the Pin 2

This is the returning game, this time, instead of surviving monsters, you are delivering embers to a an oven, or water to a glass. It was great in the last game, and still great here in Those Games 2, and puts up a real challenge at times.

Number Dungeon

Those Games 2

This is a twist on the tower mini-game from last game. This time, you’re in a maze and have to attack the monsters in a certain order to beat the final boss. It is good is all I can really say about it. I played this the least, but that doesn’t mean it is bad.

Rest of Those Games 2

Like the last game, Those Games 2 has missions to beat, both daily and general. You will get coins from puzzles and missions. These are used in the “Gotcha” machine, which gives you a nameplate and/or title. There’s also word-wide challenge mode with a leader board for added longevity. Overall, its a good mini-game collection, but I don’t think its a Must Play, because outside the games, little has changed. This gets a Recommended with an eight back-end score.

Overall: Those Games 2 is a mini-game collection of fake games from mobile game ads. Pretty good like Those Games 1!

Verdict: Recommended

Call of Honor Duty of Warfare Review

With a name like Call of Honor Duty of Warfare, I am bound to get hits, so I’ll review the game. But I’m going to do something different for this Midnight Works-connected title. I’ve pretty much given up on Midnight Works, I’m not playing through mountains to trash to find a Midnight Runner. So I’m switching things up a bit. I’m going to write most of the review first, then actually go play the game and see how right I was in my predictions. How will I do this? But breaking down the completely lying eShop blurb. Let’s begin:

Immerse yourself in the epic battlefield with “Call of Honor Duty of Warfare,” a groundbreaking experience that combines the intensity of team-based combat with a gripping narrative.”

The battlefield is neither epic, intense, nor thrilling. I doubt there’s even a real narrative beyond, “go here and do that.”

Tactical Mastery: Assume the role of a skilled operative and lead your team through heart-pounding matches against a relentless enemy force.

The AI for the enemy and your team in Call of Honor Duty of Warfare is crap and barely non-existent. Your teammates will be useless and the enemy just runs straight at you(or wanders around aimlessly).

Points-Based Warfare: Engage in intense firefights where each kill results in a point deduction from your team’s score. The stakes are high – the first team to lose all their points faces defeat.

Translation: Call of Honor Duty of Warfare is a five-on-five shooter with no actual narrative whatsoever. There can be no real narrative here with this structure.

Call of Honor Duty of Warfare
The game does not look this good!

Dynamic Locations: Explore five meticulously designed locations, each presenting its own set of challenges and opportunities.

The locations are tiny and badly designed.

Arsenal of Destruction: Arm yourself with a vast array of more than 20 different weapons, ranging from powerful firearms to strategic grenades.

This is probably correct though the weapons are probably badly implemented and but one or two are locked at the start.

Prepare to answer the call, honor your duty, and engage in warfare like never before. “Call of Honor Duty of Warfare” is a solo-player masterpiece that combines intense team-based action with a riveting narrative, delivering an unparalleled gaming experience on the Nintendo Switch™. Get ready to embark on a journey where every decision counts and only the strongest will prevail!

i… ummm… well… well all know that is bullshit!

The Actual Call of Honor Duty of Warfare

I was correct on most counts with Call of Honor Duty of Warfare. There was absolutely no narrative whatsoever. The AI is functional, but is simple: They run towards the enemy on set paths and automatically shoot when they see another enemy. The game plays itself. The area I played was boring and badly designed, with no real tactical options present, due to the AI. You start with one weapon. The game does not look as good as the provided screenshot. I guess the best way to show the game is with a sixteen second clip. Enjoy

So In the end, I basically correct about Call of Honor Duty of Warfare: It is garbage and not worth anyone’s time. It’s not the worst Midnight Works title out there, so it is getting a two, for the AI not being a complete embarrassment.

Overall: I predicted what Call of Honor Duty of Warfare would be, then played the game. I was mostly correct.

Verdict: Garbage

PS. SwitchStars has been attacked by Midnight Works. They’ve directed their staff to file false harassment complaints against the channel. Its shady and scummy. But I do have to wonder why they haven’t attempted to take me down. Guess I’m not big enough yet to make a difference, though links to my Midnight Works editorial(linked up top) have popped up on Reddit and elsewhere. It’s also done respectable numbers and has great longevity.
