Best Fallout 4 mods: How to get multiplayer mod and more

8. Leden 2026 v 18:13

Like any self-respecting Fallout game, Fallout 4 is perhaps best enjoyed with mods.

And with the Fallout TV show now in season 2, and the Fallout 4 next-gen update launching a couple of years ago, there's never been a better time to mod up.

Of course, you could just use some Fallout 4 cheats, but those won't let you change the entire world like a mod can!

So, if you're looking to put your modding hat on, here's how to use Fallout 4 mods as well as our picks for the very best ones.

How to use mods in Fallout 4

Fallout 4 Vault door with the number 88 on it

Mods for Fallout 4 from the developer Bethesda can be downloaded from its official website.

To install a mod, you simply select 'Add to library' and load the game once it has finished downloading.

However, third-party websites such as Nexus Mods can also be used. Once you have clicked on your mod of choice, you must download it and save all the files to somewhere that is easy to access on your PC, such as a dedicated folder.

Then you will need to install a mod manager and log in with your corresponding credentials before navigating to your downloads, selecting them to make sure they are active. From there, you will be able to simply load Fallout 4 as usual.

On consoles such as Xbox Series X, there is a mod menu that allows you to download them straight to your game - however, there is less choice available.

There are tons of Fallout 4 mods to play around with, so knowing where to start can be overwhelming. Here is a list of some memorable ones:

Multiplayer

Roaming around a post-apocalyptic wasteland can be dangerous, so having a buddy along for the radiation-fuelled ride would be comforting. Unfortunately, previous multiplayer mods for Fallout 4 have ceased to exist, and are no longer supported by their creators.

However, with the Building Bridges mod, players can interact with each other through a paper trail of notes reminiscent of games such as Elden Ring. It’s not quite the same as having a friend running alongside you, but it gives players a chance to share useful information.

Armorsmith Extended

A Fallout player sitting down with a rifle on their back

One of the most popular Fallout 4 mods to date, surpassing 10 million downloads. Created by Gambit77, there's so much within this mod that's made it the go-to choice for players globally.

Some features include overhauling the mods system by adding more slots for more armour and clothes to equip, alongside being able to wear clothes underneath armour. Additionally, you can craft every power armour in the game and mod any clothing and weapons to pretty much whatever you want. It changes the experience completely and is an essential mod.

Change field of view

A limited field of view can be annoying for some players, and it can sometimes cause misalignment in specific scenarios in the game. This FOV mod will allow you to alter that, specifically during moments within Fallout 4 such as entering power armour or using a terminal.

Thanks to this mod from VaultGirl2077 and xMakeDamnSurex, you can play as Lucy MacLean from the Fallout TV show. Perfect if you've just finished the Amazon Prime Video series.

Buzz Lightyear

Paladin Danse is a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, a pretty rigid companion that can accompany your adventures. While he's certainly a fierce warrior, there is a way to lighten the guy up –  and that's the attire of everyone’s favourite toy spaceman, Buzz Lightyear.

That's right! Spread infinity and beyond throughout the wastelands with this colourful mod created by Trashlizard that turns power armour into Buzz's suit. It's quite the makeover. Perfect for solving any intergalactic emergencies.

Swiftageddon

Taylor Swift is everywhere right now as she continues to dominate the world of music – even managing to make an appearance in the nuclear armageddon.

The mod from TheXzi alters the player’s Pip-Boy - the bulky wrist device that acts as a hub of information - to turn a bright shade of pink, which acts as a refreshing splash of colour in the otherwise barren world. It doesn’t stop there, though, as Swift’s face also appears as a background on each menu screen, so you can think of your favourite pop star while choosing the best weapon to take down a band of raiders.

Another mod for fans of the TV series, this one from VaultGirl2077 and xMakeDamnSurex lets you play as Cooper Howard – human or ghoul. It's highly detailed and looks quite impressive.

Naruto Running

Naruto Uzumaki sprinting in the Naruto anime series

One of the most memorable things about the popular anime show, Naruto, is how characters sprint in it. With heads pushed forward and arms played out behind them, people in the series often look more like rapid chickens than real humans.

With this mod, players will be able to alter how their character runs when suited up in power armour to match that of the Naruto show with hilarious results.

Lowered Weapons

Though NPCs don't mind having guns pointed at their face, it can ruin the sense of immersion running around the wasteland with your weapon always at the ready.

This mod seeks to remedy this by having - as the name suggests - your weapon lowered when you're not firing it.

Not only does this add to the roleplay element, but it also improves your peripheral vision, as you get a good amount of it back by not having your Fat Man mini-nuke launcher up and at the ready.

Disable character light

Characters in Fallout 4 have pretty strong hero lighting that makes them glow unnaturally.

It's extremely obvious in low-lighting settings such as indoors or at night, and the game looks remarkably more natural without them.

You don't need to download anything for this one, it simply requires some .ini file tweaking - which you can find out how to do on the Nexus Mods page.

Fallout 4 perks system explained: Best perks to pick and why

8. Leden 2026 v 14:30

To best survive the wasteland, you'll want to pick the best perks in Fallout 4 and understand how the perk system works.

There is a dizzying array of perks to choose from, and it can be difficult to choose on a first playthrough, if you've been inspired to try the games out after the Fallout series, which is now in its second season.

Choosing the best Fallout 4 perks will work towards creating the best build, but if you do muck things up a little, you can always respec to right any wrongs, though, seeing as there is no level cap in Fallout 4, you can just keep going until you've unlocked everything.

And the perk of reading a Fallout 4 perk guide is that you can skip this intro entirely and scroll on down for all that crucial information!

How does the perks system work in Fallout 4?

The Vault Boy in an animated feature looking at pop-ups of the five senses

The perks and skills system for Fallout 4 is quite different to previous entries in the series, and is more akin to how it works in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Each skill has a number of levels, and these unlock perks – which in turn can be levelled up in rank.

In Fallout 4 (and the rest of the Fallout games), there are seven skills, which are:

  • S – Strength
  • P – Perception
  • E – Endurance
  • C – Charisma
  • I – Intelligence
  • A – Agility
  • L – Luck

When you create a character, you have 21 points to dish out to each of these skills. When you level up in the game, you can increase one of these seven skills or spend it on a perk pertaining to that skill.

You can also increase skills by finding and reading magazines or coming across bobbleheads.

What are the best Fallout 4 perks?

Ultimately, it depends on what sort of build you want to go for in Fallout 4, but there are some that are useful no matter what path you go down.

The ones we would recommend are:

  • Fortune Finder (Luck) – Find more caps in the wasteland
  • Scrounger (Luck) – Find more ammunition in the wasteland

Something that is eternally useful is being able to pick locks and unlock terminals, as these can make your job of navigating locations far simpler. For this, go with the following:

  • Locksmith (Perception) – Each rank unlocks the ability to pick more difficult locks
  • Hacker (Intelligence) – Gain the ability to hack increasingly difficult terminals and never get locked out

You can also find a lot of traction in perks that increase your health and resistance to damage and radiation:

  • Toughness (Endurance) – Each rank unlocks additional damage resistance
  • Rad Resistant (Endurance) – Each rank unlocks additional radiation resistance
  • Ghoulish (Endurance) – Health regenerates in the presence of radiation

Quite often, too, you may need to buy something in a pinch rather than crafting it, so perks that improve trading can make your caps go further:

  • Cap Collector (Charisma) – Get better deals with vendors

Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots Review

28. Prosinec 2025 v 20:00

Over Par

HIGH It’s a new Everybody’s Golf on multiple platforms! Yay!

LOW It’s a low-effort Everybody’s Golf on multiple platforms. Gah.

WTF Why does the thirteen-year-old Vita version look better than this?

Ah, Golf. The age-old sport of smashing a tiny ball with a club so that it flies hundreds of yards towards a hole the size of someone’s fist, avoiding sand traps and rough patches of grass along the way. Brilliant! And given its simplicity, an absolutely perfect fit for videogames. Green grass, blue skies, nerve-wracking shots across an undulating green…  a good golf title is a thing of beauty, and few come close to the Everybody’s Golf experience.

For those not familiar with the franchise, it’s basically far and away the best golf series in the world. Sure, this may be my subjective opinion rather than an established, concrete fact, but it takes such a cheerful and personality-driven approach to characters and presentation that it’s easy for even the most golf-agnostic player to get lured in and sideswiped by the depth of its gameplay systems and breadth of things to unlock.

Up until now the series has been exclusive to Playstation consoles, with all but one previous entry developed by the talented Clap Hanz studio. Now Bandai Namco and HYDE have taken the reins, released it on every modern platform (aside from Xbox for whatever reason) and… well, results are mixed, unfortunately.

First, the good.

For the most part it plays well, with the traditional ‘three-tap’ approach to smacking the ball up the fairway. Select a club, tap a button to start the swing gauge, tap it again to set power and then one last time to set the impact angle. Spin, fade and other technical tomfoolery can be applied during this process to help direct it into the hole, as well as various special moves once unlocked – a Rising Shot will blast up the flagpole before dropping into the hole, for example, or a Super Spin will spiral around it in an unrealistic but visually pleasing flourish.

While only two characters are available at the start, it isn’t long before a bunch of anime golfers are available via their story modes, and they all have quirks which can affect gameplay. Some may favor playing at night or in the early morning, leading to easier or harder shot timing depending on the time of day. Some may enjoy playing in the rain or hate taking tee shots on longer courses, others may have their shots naturally soar higher than others to avoid obstacles, or be better at other technical aspects of each shot.

As a result, there’s almost certainly going to be a character that gels well for every player. I personally opted for Erika as my main — not because she’s a golfing virtuoso on the field, but because she has a high chance of accidentally bashing herself in the face with her club while celebrating a birdie, the adorable little klutz.

As mentioned, there’s plenty to unlock — a wide range of characters, golf clubs and balls with specific strengths and weaknesses, as well as performance-enhancing food, caddies, costumes and all sorts of good stuff for players who put the time in. While a few more characters being available right off the bat would have been welcome, it’s an experience that rewards those who put the time in.

There are also plenty of modes available, from standard tournaments and party modes with random course effects, to a story mode for every character. It’s nothing too fancy, typically just the selected cast member having a chinwag with their friends and adversaries before playing a round of golf under various rulesets, but it’s a welcome addition.

In addition to the above, each course has a day and night cycle, variable weather systems, specific rules such as additional penalties for bunker shots, or miniature vortexes tucked away in each hole helping to suck close but marginally wayward shots towards their goal. Variety isn’t a problem here.

So! It’s great, right? Well… at heart it’s an enjoyable game of golf, but it’s not without some serious issues.

The first thing players will likely notice is that the default camera angle was apparently chosen by someone who’s never played golf — or even videogames before — offering a skewed angle that hinders the player’s ability to see what’s directly in front of them. Fortunately this can be permanently changed to a more traditional view in the options, but it gives a bizarre first impression.

Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots also looks objectively worse than the Vita version of Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational which was released more than a decade ago. This isn’t an exaggeration for comedic effect — the Vita build is visibly superior in almost all areas, ranging from overall presentation and personality to color depth and texture work.

About the only objective graphical improvement seen in Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots is that it can run at sixty frames a second, which should be a given… but given the occasionally shaky performance, it somehow misses the mark there as well, which makes things interesting while trying to take a shot as the swing timer can be affected. It also crashed any time I tabbed out of the game or attempted to change the window from full screen to borderless, so the PC version still needs work.

The gameplay also occasionally lands in the rough, with too many shots screwing up in an unrealistic manner. During the final hole of the Top Pro tour I took two nearly identical shots in quick succession with wildly different outcomes — one swing landing out of bounds and causing a reset, the next neatly flopping down close to the hole. There was no wind, nothing that could have caused such a huge disparity in outcome. Failing any other explanation, the game must have grossly miscalculated the first swing.

Someone once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, but they were wrong — the definition of insanity is performing the exact same stroke under the same conditions only to have the bloody golf ball curve sharp left on the first attempt, then veer hard right on the second. It certainly drove me insane, anyway.

Thankfully this randomness in the physics was only an occasional hiccup — if it happened more frequently, I’d say the game was fundamentally broken. Thankfully it isn’t, but when these moments of inexplicable weirdness crop up, they’re hard to ignore. Hopefully this issue will be patched soon.

It’s great to finally have Everybody’s Golf on PC, and even though this entry fails to meet the series’ usual high standards, it still offers a fine walk out on the links. That said, it’s impossible to shake the feeling that it’s only achieved the absolute minimum here. Until the various bugs and other issues are patched out, I simply can’t recommend Everybody’s Golf in its current state. No matter how good the general golfing experience is, it’s impossible to ignore the wonky physics and overall lack of ambition. What should have been a near-effortless hole in one is perilously close to becoming a triple bogey instead.

Rating: 5 out of 10

Disclosures: This game is developed by HYDE and published by Bandai Namco. It is currently available on PS5/Switch and PC. This copy of the game was obtained via publisher and reviewed on the PC. Approximately 22 hours of play were devoted to the single-player mode, and plenty of tournaments were won and courses unlocked. 3 hours of play were spent in multiplayer modes.

Parents: According to the ESRB, this game is rated E10+ and contains Mild Language and Mild Suggestive Themes. The official description reads: This is a golf simulation game in which players select from a collection of golfers to compete in matches. During a World Tour mode, characters engage in brief dialogue that references suggestive material (e.g., “…I heard I could use it to gaze up some lovely ladies”; “…[Y]our stalkers are on a whole new level of crazy”; “Did I startle you? Or were you peeking at something naughty?”). Some loading sequences depict close-up camera pans of golfers’ bodies. The word “damn” appears in the game.

Colorblind Modes: There are no colorblind modes available.

Deaf & Hard of Hearing Gamers: This game offers subtitles. I’d rate this game as 100% playable without sound — while the caddies may call out things to be aware of, this important information such as wind speed or green undulation can always be acquired visually.

Remappable Controls: Yes, this game offers fully remappable controls.

Vague Patch Notes: The desire for novelty that MMOs can’t deliver

8. Leden 2026 v 19:00
Every time people discuss new things they would love to see in long-running MMORPGs, I see at least a few people speculating about things that aren’t just not happening but would fundamentally break the game. And it always makes a little twitch start up right behind my eye. It’s not that I don’t understand the […]

How do you enable cheats on Sims 4?

To use cheat codes in The Sims 4, you first need to enable cheats in the game itself. Be warned, though: enabling cheats will mean that achievements or trophies will be turned off in this particular save, so it's worth making a backup save before turning them on.

On PC, bring up the cheat menu by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C. Once there, enter testingCheats true and cheats will be enabled in this particular save.

On Mac, you can bring up the cheat menu by pressing CMD + Shift + C. Then enter testingCheats true to enable cheats on that particular save.

On Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, you can access the cheat menu by pressing and holding LT + RT + LB + RB for a couple of seconds. This will bring up the cheat menu, into which you need to type testingCheats true to enable cheats in this save.

On PS4 and PS5, you need to press and hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 to summon the cheat menu. When it appears, type in testingCheats true and cheats will then be enabled in this world.

How to use The Sims 4 cheat codes

The Sims 4 key art showing a range of characters in a living room

Enabling cheats is one thing, but using The Sims 4 cheats is another kettle of fish. The main way you'll use cheat codes in The Sims 4 is:

  1. Open the game and load up a world
  2. Bring up the cheat menu (by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C on PC, or holding down all the shoulder buttons on console)
  3. Enter testingCheats true and press Done, if you haven't already
  4. Type the relevant cheat code into the little text box in the top-left corner of the screen
  5. Press Done, and the cheat will take effect

The only exceptions to this system are the Interaction Cheats, which are activated in a slightly different way. You still need to be in a world with testingCheats true activated, but then you need to follow the steps below (depending on your platform of choice).

View Affiliate Playlist on the source website

To use The Sims 4 Interaction Cheats on PS4 or PS5, with testingCheats true already activated, hover the cursor over a Sim or an object, hold down Circle and then press X to bring up the Interaction Cheats menu.

On Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, once you have testingCheats true turned on, hold down B and then press A to summon the Interaction Menu.

On PC, after activating testingCheats true, hold shift and then click on the Sim/item in question - this will make the Interaction Cheats menu appear, and you can choose from a variety of cheats that it will list for you. All the other cheats in the game can just be typed into the cheat console as we discussed before. For the full list of what you can do, read on!
