Resident Evil fans have adopted a Love & Deepspace character as the son of Leon S. Kennedy and one of his potential spouses

In an intersection of my particular interests that I most certainly didn't have on my 2026 bingo card, fans of the Resident Evil franchise – and in particular its recently-released ninth main entry, Resident Evil Requiem – have suddenly become obsessed with a very different favourite of mine: sci-fi otome gacha mobile game Love and Deepspace.

Asha Sharma Dances Around Xbox Exclusivity In New Interview

Xbox is still dancing around the topic of exclusivity in a new interview with CEO Asha Sharma. Speaking during a live interview, Bloomberg’s journalist asked Sharma how Xbox intends on handling exclusive games in the future. It is a carefully worded answer, and probably deliberately so. Sharma does not say Xbox exclusives are going away, […]

Review: Stray Ends Up Being a Solid Switch 2 Game

We’ve seen Annapurna’s Stray a few times now, with the cat game debuting back on PlayStation platforms and the PC in 2022. It’s ambled its way to other systems since. Even a Switch release happened in 2024, though that was notable for not running and looking as good as the other versions. But now Stray is on the Switch 2, and it’s a chance at redemption for the Nintendo game. While it still isn’t as gorgeous as it would be on PCs, it looks and works much better this time around.

Stray begins with the game showing us a colony of cats in a post-apocalyptic world. As we get acquainted with the felines, we see one get separated to the group and fall into an underground city. Their goal is to get back to the surface and their family. Fortunately, they meet a drone named B-12 that can assist with human technology and meet a number of robot Companions who explain what happened to humans, this underground world, and even why these strange, hostile creatures called Zurks are threatening everyone.

Stray remains an action-adventure game with its Switch 2 release, only with a different sort of approach since we get a perspective and interaction limitations tied to being a cat. This means our range and reach is limited, we’ll need to bat at things to make things happen, and carry stuff around. It does mean our character is good at climbing on things and getting into narrow spots! There are also occasional hacking and puzzle segments tied to B-12’s abilities. We explore different layers of the underground city, using the duo’s capabilities to ascend to different areas and find a new way up top.

While there are a lot of moments when we can explore and take our time exploring the areas of town and interacting with peaceful robot Companions, perhaps even taking a nap during more chill parts, Stray can get rather active. This can mean using some stealth to avoid hostile Companions, evasion to get away from Zurks, and even a Defluxor to defeat Zurks. These are worked into the adventure in a way that keeps them from feeling natural, but not like they’re the main focus of the game and journey of our stray cat friend. Even better is that Stray feels better in these sections on the Switch 2. There’s a stability here that wasn’t present in the Switch version. It’s at 30fps, which helps a lot with performance.

Stray also generally looks much better on the Switch 2 than on the original system, even though the game isn’t as pretty as it is when I played it on the PS5. It definitely helps make the city look better. It’s a noticeable difference. The cat’s touch up is also improved. However, the realistic approach still doesn’t help it look like a 1:1 actual cat. There’s still that divide, but it is better and fine. I think the Companions honestly are the other element that benefit most from this update, as their more exaggerated approach and artificiality look better with the improved visuals and textures.

Stray on Switch 2 is a step up from the original Switch version of the game though it still isn’t the ideal way to step into the cat paws.

While the performance and visuals are both marked improvements for Stray on Switch 2 compared to the original Switch, the Joy-Con 2 mouse control mode is underwhelming. It is possible to use that control option. However, the actual controller support for the game is genuinely great. I felt like swapping to that to test out the feature made the general experience worse.

Stray on Switch 2 is a step up from the adventure on the original Switch version of the game, though it probably still isn’t the ideal way to step into the cat’s paws. It does look better! It runs better! The frame rate is more stable. The mouse controls feel more like a gimmick and aside than a truly viable way to play, unfortunately. Also, it’s still not the prettiest and best way to play. But it is better than what we had, which is nice.

Stray is now available on the Switch 2 and the game also appeared on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 Version, Felyne Nendoroid, and Hunter Figma Figure Teased

Following the reveal of the Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance expansion for current platforms, Capcom revealed a Switch 2 port and Good Smile Company showed a Monster Hunter Felyne Nendoroid and Hunter figma figure. There are no release dates for the additional platform for the game or for either items yet, but it marks the first appearance of the Nendoroid since the February 2026 announcement for it. The figures follow ones like the Hunter: Female Xeno’jiiva Beta Armor Edition

When it comes to the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 version, Capcom didn’t mention too much about the game. It only confirmed on social media that it exists. It said that we’ll see more about it and learn about a release window in the future.

As for the figure announcements, both the Monster Hunter Felyne Nendoroid and Hunter figma appeared as unpainted prototypes. This means we’ll likely see another painted prototype update for both in a few months before pre-orders open and a release happens. The Palico is a Rathalos Armor Version and has a small, matching sword as a weapon. The Hunter is a Hyper Body figma variant in Gore Magala armor that comes with a Stahlrecht Long Sword and Sucher-Ankh Sword with Shield as weapons. There will also be a Hyper Body Expansion Parts Set: Gore Magala Weapon Set that comes with a Tyrannenarm Gunlance and Elendskraft Charge Blade.

Here’s how all of those items are looking so far. The weapon set is only confirmed to be compatible with figmas, and as such it wouldn’t be the right scale for the Felyne Nendoroid.

A Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 version is on the way and we got a closer look at the new Felyne Nendoroid and Hunter figma figure.

Tifa Lockhart Will Join Street Fighter 6 as Year 4 DLC

During the 2026 Summer Game Fest, Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII was announced as the next DLC guest character for Street Fighter 6. She will arrive in early 2027 as part of the game’s Year 4 Season Pass of new content alongside new characters Arjun, Yasmine, and Bosch.

Tifa is currently slated to be the third character of the set to be released, and she will be available as part of the Year 4 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass. After the reveal trailer, Director of Street Fighter 6 Takayuki Nakayama and Director of Square Enix Naoki Hamaguchi took to the stage to explain that not only would Materia feature as a new gameplay feature for Tifa, but that another “iconic Final Fantasy element” would also be adapted for the game.

You can check out the official announcement on X below:

Unfortunately, Tifa will not have any story content added to the game, as Capcom have previously stated that the World Tour story mode would not be updated after the recent release of Ingrid. Those wanting more story content involving Tifa will have to look forward to the release of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which was also announced at Summer Game Fest.

Tifa Lockhart set to arrive as a playable character in Street Fighter 6 sometime in early 2027. The main game is immediately available on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X.

Omega Force Working on Attack on Titan 3 Game

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force announced Attack on Titan 3, a new game that will cover the events of the anime and manga in full, at Summer Game Fest 2026. Initial teaser footage appeared during the presentation. However, it only focused on cinematic footage, so we don’t know how close it will be to the Musou and Warriors formula. More details will arrive on July 1, 2026.

GamersPrey shared an upload of the official Attack on Titan 3 game trailer from Summer Game Fest 2026. Note that if you watch, there are some spoilers for events that took place later in the series. Some of the Titans that came up later on appear too.

You can see the full SGF 2026 showcase below.

As noted by the name, there have been two Omega Force Attack on Titan games. The first showed up on the PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, and PC. That came out in 2016 and only covered up through Eren joining the Scout Regiment. Attack on Titan 2 showed up on the Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, and PC in 2019, and with DLC covered through up to 90 chapters.

Attack on Titan 3 is in development for the Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The anime is on Crunchyroll, and Kodansha handles the manga.

Resident Evil Veronica Remake Arrives in 2027

Code Veronica is coming back, as a reimagining remake called Resident Evil Veronica will be released. That will show up on the Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. We’ll see it in 2027, though there’s no exact release month for it yet. A first trailer did show up at Summer Game Fest 2026, however.

The first trailer hinted at what we can expect from the remake. We see a first person perspective as someone is heading to an apartment. An elderly woman lets her in, and explains that the person’s brother is a bit messy. As the person looks around, the apparently landlord leaves. Someone knocks. the unknown individual checks the peephole and doesn’t initially see anyone. After a jumpscare, we see the person was Claire Redfield, searching for her brother Chris, all along.

Here’s the Resident Evil Veronica trailer from Summer Game Fest 2026, courtesy of GamersPrey.

This will mark the fifth recent remake. We’ve seen, in the last few years, remakes of entries like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4.

Here’s the full SGF 2026 presentation:

The original Resident Evil: Code Veronica is on the Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360, and the new reimagining remake will show up in 2027 on the Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Super Bomberman Collection Is a Multiplayer Blast

Super Bomberman Collection review playtest Siliconera

Recent shadowdrop release Super Bomberman Collection brings back some classic Bomberman games, some for the first time outside Japan, and we’re happy to see it! But if we’ve learned anything from modern retro compilations, the quality is extremely dependent on execution. So how does this one do?

The package contains the five Super Bomberman games, all originally released on the Super NES and Super Famicom, as well as two bonus Famicom games. The later Super titles didn’t originally release outside Japan and have received localizations here, which is a nice touch! Frankly, though, these are fairly language-agnostic games and you probably would have been fine.

Putting these five games together in one collection might feel a bit redundant! And it is, to a degree. The advantage is in two ways. The first? Historical value. The game makes it easy to look at what power-ups are added in each one, and preserving all five is good regardless. The second is that you can choose your favorite variant. Each of these changes does color the experience, and through either taste or nostalgia, you’ll likely have a favorite.

super bomberman collection screenshot

If you’re having trouble deciding, though? We’d recommend going straight to 5. It has almost all the things from the other games, and there are options to configure it however! And as such a late Super Famicom game that other staff at Hudson were probably already working on Mario Party during development, it really takes advantage of the hardware. If it drops the ball on anything? Maybe it’s aesthetics. It’s trying really hard to do a robot/sentai thing in a way that a lot of the selectable characters feel same-y.

It’s also true that each of these games has a solo campaign. The franchise’s bread and butter is its competitive play, but there’s a dedicated group of people who really embrace the single-player arcade levels. And these are good ones! We’ve spent a while playing, and we are undeniably bad at them but there’s a puzzly element to taking on risky opponents in an optimal order.

When it comes to gallery modes in retro compilations, our usual stance is that it’s a great effort of preservation! But we don’t spend a lot of time with that stuff. Super Bomberman Collection’s “unbox” mode feels a lot more robust, though. With the detail and ability to virtually open the box and pull out the manual, it captures a bit more of the nostalgia of the originals.

this is a weird level with multiple layers but Hudson was quirky like that back in the day
Image via Konami

While it doesn’t have built-in functionality for this sort of thing, Super Bomberman Collection takes advantage of system-level multiplayer features like Switch 2’s GameShare and Steam’s Remote Play Together. How well does it work? Better than you’d think! We spent our time testing it out on Switch 2, and didn’t experience any of the frequent connection issues we usually get. What’s more, it’s the sort of game that can weather some minor hiccups if you get them, and it also doesn’t look too bad in the windowed GameShare screen.

Super Bomberman Collection, developed by Red Art Games and published by Konami, is out now on Switch 2, Switch, PS5, Xbox Series and Steam. Physical editions of the game will launch on August 25, 2026.

Starsand Island is a life and farming sim that isn't gacha, and it's out next week

Though it may seem like we just had a big life sim release in Heartopia, 2026 actually has more than one highly-anticipated release in that particular subgenre of cozy game. The next big one on the horizon is Starsand Island, the life and farming sim from Seed Sparkle Lab.

Nintendo Switch 2's best memory card drops to an all-time low in the New Year sales

If you got your hands on a shiny new Nintendo Switch 2 last year, first of all, congrats, it's a wonderful console, and a whole lot of fun. Second, it is probably, unfortunately, already yelling at you about storage. The console ships with 256GB of onboard space, which sounds generous until you download a couple of chunky first-party games, dabble in a few third-party ports, and suddenly find yourself doing mental gymnastics over which titles you can afford to delete.
