After the release of Tears of the Kingdom, I was afraid that we would never see a new game in the style of the 2D Zelda game. Yet, I have been proven wrong when this game was announced. To be very honest, I didn’t have very high hopes for this game. Especially since this game was announced this summer and released in late September. I felt that this game going to be a game to fill a gap while the developers are working on a much larger game. Now, the game is released, and I have played through a fair chunk of it. So, what is my opinion on this game? Well, that’s what I’m going to tell you in this first impressions article, while I all invite you to leave a comment of your thoughts and/or opinions in the comment section down below.

Renewing the Echoes

After a short introduction where you play as Link, the main story of this game is introduced. There are all consuming interdimensional rifts appearing all over Hyrule, and it’s eating various people in the kingdom.

Link gets eaten by one of those rifts while freeing Zelda and when Zelda tells her father, the king, about these rifts… A new rift appears and replaces the king with an evil clone of himself. Zelda gets thrown in the dungeon and there she meets a fairy named Tri. This fairy gives Zelda a special staff where she can summon objects into the world using echoes. With those echoes, she escapes the dungeon and sets out on an adventure to save Hyrule from doom before the land is fully consumed by the rifts.

Something I always love about the Zelda games is that there is a different core mechanic at the base of the game. In this game, we get two things. We got the rifts to another dark world, but we also got the magical staff, which we can use to summon various echoes into the world. These echoes mean you can tackle this game in various different ways. But I’ll talk more about that later in this article.

In terms of story, this game is hitting all the same beats as your typical Legend of Zelda game. It might be disappointing, to some, that in this game there is no voice acting anymore apart from the grunts and various emotional noises. Personally, I think it adds to the charm of this game. That’s because the characters in this game are way more expressive. While the story isn’t going to leave you at the edge of your seat of “what’s going to happen next”, it’s still well quite enjoyable, and the more expressive characters add quite a lot to the charm and atmosphere of the game.

Something I really like is how in this game, you are free to explore the world at your own peace. This game isn’t limiting you to go in a certain order. While this game isn’t fully open world like Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom, it’s somewhere in between. You can tackle parts in a different order. Like the first two major dungeons can be done out of order. Each area is its self-contained puzzle, and everything you need can be found in that general area.

In my introduction of this article, I said that I was afraid that was afraid that this game would be a short one where you were able to beat it in a few hours. That it was going to be a game that’s supposed to hold players over for the “next big 3D Zelda title”. To my surprise, this game is rather lengthy for a 2,5D Zelda game. It clocks in at 25 hours of casual playtime, which is, to my knowledge, one of the longest 2,5D Zelda games.

Climbing with beds

Something I find myself doing quite a lot while playing this game was climbing the area with beds. I summoned various beds stacked on top of each other to climb a wall. Since, I wanted to know if the developers hid a secret on that cliff face.

The exploration of this version of Hyrule is a blast to do. While you visit a lot of familiar places and meet your usual suspects like the Zora and the Gerudo, it’s a treat seeing them again. The only thing I missed a bit is showing the impact of the rifts. Something that this game only tells through dialogue was how things got impacted by the rifts. I wish it was shown a bit more visually. Like different animations of the characters before and after. But maybe, Tears of the Kingdom set the bar a bit too high for those expectations where each major area had a certain curse.

In terms of gameplay, this game really leans into the echoes mechanic. It also remembers that Zelda is a princess and didn’t really have combat training. So, you have to use summoned enemies to your advantage to let them fight for you. Now, you do have a sword, but you can only use it when your power meter has charge. I always reserved that for the dungeon bosses or when the situation got pretty dicey. Since recharging that meter is either done with potions or by defeating monsters from the rift world. These enemies aren’t exactly common in the overworld, and the energy bar drains fast.

In general, this game hits the same general gameplay beats as all other Zelda games. You go from dungeon to dungeon, learning a new technique or skill, defeating the boos and moving forward to another dungeon. There are also side quests in this game, that give you a nice reward. In this game, you also have a nice system to keep track of these side quests, like in Tears of the Kingdom. Something they also brought over from that game is the cooking system to a degree.

That’s something I personally feel mixed about. Maybe it’s me, but I feel the ingredients are quite rare to come by and there is no real way to farm certain ingredients like in Breath of the Wild. I have to admit that it adds a certain charm to this game, but I feel it’s a bit under implemented here. Like when you first meet the potion creators Deku shrubs, they talk about recipes… And I had a hard time finding any.

Like in Tears of the Kingdom, you can also eat most of the ingredients without cooking them. While I personally dislike the fact you have to do two clicks to consume an item, I do understand why they did it. To avoid you consuming them too much. Yet, this is a change from the two previous games and I honestly really feel it’s a set backwards. A fine solution would be to give the player an option to switch between both systems.

Grezzo playset

This game was co-developed by Grezzo. Their previous original Zelda game was Tri Force Heroes. But, this game looks very similar in graphical style to the remake of Link’s Awakening on the Nintendo Switch from late 2019.

This game looks like a plastic toy set and it looks amazing. While I was playing this game, I felt amazed at how expressive they were able to make everything without breaking the illusion that this is a toy set brought to live by our imagination. I don’t have a lot of complaints about the visuals and animations. And most of my complaints aren’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.

Just like, I don’t have any complaints about the music and sound design of this game. If you take the music and sound design in a vacuum, you would say that it sounds just like very other Zelda game. It sounds like a remix of the familiar melodies we all know and love from the Zelda games. But, this isn’t a problem, since it sells the illusion that you are a child playing with a sort of Playmobil toy set of Hyrule and trying to recreate the sound effects and music of the game.

In terms of controls, this game plays like a dream. I rarely had problems with the controls and something I really like is the fact that with one press of a stick, you can see a view from on top when you feel the camera is blocking something. Now, there is one thing that I do have some things to criticize about. And that’s about the jumping.

It’s pretty difficult sometimes to judge how high Zelda can jump. I had moments in combat where I wasn’t aware I could jump on a higher ledge until I saw an enemy jumping backwards on that ledge. I also got tripped up several times with how far Zelda can jump. Her jump is shorter than I think, and the amount of times I jumped into a pit misjudging the jump is quite a lot. Something that would have helped is something a small landing shadow when Zelda was coming down. Then again, that must have been a nightmare to implement… So, maybe I should keep her shorter jump just better in mind.

Now, something else. Something I really like is how this game has two difficulty modes. I’m playing through this game on the normal difficulty setting and I have to say, I’m happy that I did. This game can lure you into a false sense of security. I wouldn’t say that this game is hard, but it isn’t a cakewalk either. You really need to keep your wits about you and think fast sometimes.

Being aware of what’s around you is also quite important since this game loves to hide things in little side area’s and using the map system is a must. I love how you can put pins and such on the map. Yet, I have to admit that I still keep notes in my phone like: “treasure in Gerudo dungeon, need to check later”.

The more I play through this game, the more I realize that the critiques I can make about this game are more on the minor side. Like how it feels like a waste of time when you are scrolling through a long list of echoes when you just want to find one. An easy solution would be to give the player an ability to favorite certain echoes. But then again, the sort function in the quick menu has “most used”, “recently learned” … So, it’s kinda that.

Now, you have two save slots in this game. So, you can play through this game and let a friend or a sibling play through a different slot. Now, this game also autosaves for you frequently, in case you forget to save. The game also keeps like several autosaves in case you want to return to an earlier point.

Something I really like is how this game also has a quick travel system. The system works similarly like an owl statue in Majora’s Mask or a water vane in Link Between Worlds. It makes it easy when you feel stumped by a puzzle and want to return later. The fast travel locations are very fairly placed all over the land.

While I went quite critical in this game, the more I played it, the more it won me over. This game is a new 2,5D Zelda adventure game I hope we were going to see again. The last new, non remake 2,5D Zelda game was released almost 11 years ago. And, I’m so happy to see a return to this style. I’d love to see a this style also making an appearance very so often since it’s clear there are still various unique ways to explore Hyrule and tell a story about the Hyrule legend without going fully 3D.

Apart from a few small complaints you read in this article, I honestly don’t have any major complaints about this game. This is a game I’m going to finish for sure, since I’m enjoying my time with this title quite a lot. If you are into the series, I highly recommend this title to you. If you enjoy exploration and playing with unique mechanics, I also think this game is for you. This game is totally worth it’s price tag and it pleasantly surprised me.

And with that said, I have said everything I wanted to say about this game for now. I hope you enjoyed reading this article as much as I enjoyed writing it. I hope to be able to welcome you in another one, but until then, have a great rest of your day and take care.

Starlink Standard Kit

We take solid internet connections for granted in major cities, but if you step out of metropolitan areas, your options will quickly drop. This is what makes Starlink so special. You can get internet nearly anywhere in the USA, as well as many other countries. The equipment can get pricey, though. Lucky for you, we’ve found a great deal on the Starlink Standard Kit. It usually costs $500, but you can catch a $200 discount right now, bringing the cost down to just $300.

Get the Starlink Standard Kit for just $300

This offer is available directly from Best Buy, but Starlink’s official website also offers the same deal. The web page also mentions this deal will end on October 5, 2024.

The Starlink Standard Kit is recommended for residential users. The flat antenna is made to be stationary, and can be installed by yourself. The app can help you orient it in the right direction, and will walk you through all the steps to get you connected as soon as possible. It’s IP67-rated, so it should be able to handle the elements just fine.

Also included is a router with Wi-Fi 6 capabilities. While this router is meant to be used indoors, it still has an IP56 rating. You can connect up to 256 devices simultaneously, which is quite impressive. Wi-Fi coverage can be expanded with up to three Starlink Gen 2 and Gen 3 Mesh nodes, too.

Of course, you’ll also have to pay for service. The standard residential plan costs $120 a month. While this may seem a bit expensive to many of us, remember it’s a specialized service for those without many options. To many, Starlink is a lifesaver. It will work in pretty much any remote area, even places with zero cellular coverage.

Ready to get connected? Go get your Starlink Standard Kit. Deals on these Starlink antennas are pretty rare!

Deadlink Review

Sometimes a game doesn’t need an engrossing story or compelling main characters. Sometimes, you just want to go from virtual arena to virtual arena and take out enemies with an assortment of weapons, tools and abilities. This is what Deadlink offers. It is a roguelike first-person shooter set in a cyberpunk world where corporations are more powerful than governments, and have the violent means to hold onto that power. You are a brain in a jar that can be transferred to different combat shells, using their skills in a VR setting to test their capabilities against those corpo assets.

From the off, you can see Deadlink has a lot of depth to it. You’ll be repeating runs to earn experience and points, allowing you to unlock new skills and abilities while making progress across levels to unlock the other three ‘shells’ to shove your brain into. The default Soldier shell is not all it’s cracked up to be, and while it suits the first area it is the least fun to use. It comes equipped with a shotgun and rocket launcher, while the abilities include a rappel that can hook onto surfaces and enemies, and a Scrambler that marks and staggers foes. The Hunter shell is more entertaining to use, coming equipped with a Hand Cannon and Arc Cannon, as well as the translocator ability, which swaps your position with a normal enemy as well as marking and stunning them. The next shell is the Decoy which leaves behind a hologram that enemies target while you stay invisible for a bit, but it’s far from being the most fun to use.

That title goes to the Engineer, which comes equipped with a Gauss automatic rifle and a grenade launcher. The Engineer’s deeply enjoyable abilities include being able to deploy a turret, and use a wormlink that can link to enemies marking and incapacitating them. Finally, there’s the Juggernaut, armed with a sawed-off shotgun and a flak cannon, with a Graviton Punch ability which can destroy some enemies in one hit, and Stray Redirector which makes the shell invulnerable for a bit, but sacrifices movement speed. While I did experiment with all the shells, it was Engineer I kept going back to, though Hunter, Juggernaut, and Soldier all offered something different to enjoy.

The combat shells are just one small part of what Deadlink offers. Once you’ve selected your shell, you’ll eventually have three modes open up. The Campaign challenges you to move through four stages, each made up of rooms and with a boss waiting at the end. Time Attack offers courses that will test your reactions, and there’s the Extant Existence mode which is an unlimited wave mode, where you try to survive against enemies for as long as possible. Unlike many Roguelikes, the rooms themselves are set so you can learn enemy spawn patterns, but the challenge will always be different due to your implants. Implants and room transitions is where the Roguelike elements of Deadlink come in.

Deadlink’s implant system is the anchor of the Roguelike, making  you consider their strategies on every run. As you progress through each arena you may get the chance to equip an implant, or make adjustments to weapons and the shell. These can be anything from adding fire or toxic damage to your gun, making your abilities more powerful, or improving the amount of health and shield you have. You won’t know what implant will be offered so you really are coming up with your approach on the fly. The implants themselves have different tiers, and need different amounts of power, which you can see in the equip screen. Legendary implants require the most power as they offer the best advantages, for example, providing a combat drone to assist.

The power management is easy to figure out, as rows on menu show how much battery power is needed for a slot to be used. Furthermore, implants are split into active and passive. Active implants demand action being taken by you, like activating an ability, or breaking the C-balls that are floating around the arena, while passive implants are always on in the background. There are dozens of implants to find and unlock, with more being made available as you level up. I have to say, my best run came from having a majority of passive implants, as then I could just focus more on running and gunning.

The levelling up system has its own depth with upgrades available for individual shells, as well as general upgrades that improve health, shields, unlock new tiers of weapon mods, upgrades, and more permanent buffs or abilities, such as the defibrillator which will revive you once on a run. Some upgrades require experience points to unlock, while others require Turing Tokens, with the better ones requiring both. Experience is earned through playing the levels, while Turing Tokens can be found as one of the offers at the end of an arena, or through defeating bosses.

All of these in-depth systems of implants and levelling feed into the main experience. Deadlink only has four overall stages, split into combat arenas, but with the challenge you will not get past the first two, Tora and Watts, without significant experience and upgrades. The action is very fast paced, and you are almost always moving to avoid incoming attacks while firing off your own, but it does start to feel a bit repetitive as you go through the same levels trying to move further. There are no surprises waiting for you in the initial runs most of the time, though occasionally you will need to survive for 45 seconds, which isn’t a huge challenge, or break corrupt C-Balls. To unlock the higher difficulties you also need to complete runs on the lower difficulty, which does give something to aim for but also risks you burning out.

I had to physically destroy a cheap tablet this weekend after all data destruction methods including Google Family Link remote wipe failed

1. Červenec 2024 v 16:44

A while back on Vine I’d picked up a tablet of remarkable minor problems. One of them being that the USB port only worked on the most antiquated chargers I had. I had never investigated setting it up for ADB as this was my for my kiddos on managed accounts and hidden behind a password. Secure enough for a kid’s tablet.

Google Family Link

The device developed a little crack from a drop, which was no big deal, it was still usable. I attempted to instill the understanding of the need for a password as I assume (erring on the side of caution) managed accounts have some of my information. Even if they don’t I want my kids to have a lock on their phones so if they lose them someone else can’t make calls to <pick country that would cost a lot to call> or be used to call in fake emergency services calls. Simple security.

The tablet’s main user decides what she’s going to use as her password. Yay! Then she figures out how to set the wallpaper on the lock screen so it shows her her password in case she forgets it. Boo!

And then someone steps on the tablet.

We were left with a tablet that the touch screen was completely unresponsive. I attempted to get into the bootloader, nope, attempted adb, nope (didn’t even recognize it,) even looked up the part for the screen and it was more than the tablet was worth.

Exhausting all methods I knew from my ROM flashing days I resigned myself and went into the Google Family Link program and chose to wipe the tablet as there was no saving this beast.

And nothing happened.

Nothing.

The tablet was connected to our Wi-Fi, powered on, I could lock and unlock it from Family Link, but the wipe and erase function straight up did nothing. We waited hours. I repeatedly wiped and erased remotely. I made the unit beep for it’s location and to verify that it was getting commands. But it never wiped the tablet.

I spent about two weeks attempting everything I could think of, bearing in mind my rooting days were about 3 phones behind me, and I couldn’t even see that anything was connected when I plugged the tablet into my computer. There was only power drain. Never anything.

Then again, might not be anything if ADB was never turned on… but I couldn’t turn it on. The only thing I didn’t try was a USB Keyboard and mouse and I would have needed a USB-A to C adapter which have gone off somewhere to hide for a decade.

Deciding this was a gaping glaring security risk it was time to take the mini sledgehammer to it. I whacked it in a bag hard enough to pop the screen off the back, gently removed the battery as I didn’t want to let the magic smoke out, and went about destroying the storage.

That accomplished I felt it was now safe to recycle the rest.

I may have been a bit paranoid thinking her managed account could somehow come back to bite me, but let’s put it simply that I don’t want to find yet another zero day in which a compromised child account manages to gain access to an adult’s OAUTH2 tokens or some such.

After the destruction we went over security measures once again and that making the lock screen wallpaper be your password was a bad idea.

The stepping on the tablet, it’s an accident and why they got an inexpensive device. Next one I will make sure to add some sort of remote access app for times when this happens as evidently I can’t trust Family Link to do it.

I thought about taking some pictures, but I didn’t really like the destruction. I didn’t want to do this, I just wanted to recycle the thing, but it’s somehow tied to my Google account, however minutely, and I just watched my accountant’s digital life go down in flames due to a scam app, so not really willing to risk it.

I had to physically destroy a cheap tablet this weekend after all data destruction methods including Google Family Link remote wipe failed by Paul E King first appeared on Pocketables.

Samsung has been working with Google and Microsoft to improve integration and productivity between Galaxy devices. Galaxy phones are usually the first to get access to new integration features with Microsoft's Windows OS. Thanks to deeper integration in Windows 11, accessing files from your Galaxy phone could soon get even easier.

Files from Galaxy phones can be accessed more easily on Galaxy Book laptops via Windows 11

To access files stored on your Galaxy phone and tablet, you may not need to open the Phone Link app anymore. As spotted by X user @PhantomOnEarth, the File Manager app in Windows 11 will soon be able to display your Android phone as a shortcut. Once you click your phone on the app's sidebar, you can see all the files stored on your Galaxy device.

Microsoft Windows Phone Link File Manager Integration Windows 11

You can wirelessly import relevant files from your Galaxy phone or tablet to your Galaxy (or any other branded) laptop or PC. To enable this feature, you must enable the setting from the Settings app on a computer running Windows 11. To make this happen, the Phone Link app and the Cross Device Experience Host app act as a bridge between Android and Windows.

The story continues after our Galaxy Book 4 series hands-on video below.

The Phone Link app on Windows 11 already allows users to access images and videos stored on Android phones and tablets. However, other files, like documents, can't be accessed right now without using screen mirroring and dragging and dropping files.

The new File Manager integration for files stored on your Galaxy phone and tablet is under testing right now, and it could be released to some users soon via the Dev and Beta versions of Windows 11. Once the testing is done thoroughly, the feature could be released to all users with compatible devices and capabilities.

On Thursday, several major tech companies, including Google, Intel, Microsoft, Meta, AMD, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Cisco, and Broadcom, announced the formation of the Ultra Accelerator Link (UALink) Promoter Group to develop a new interconnect standard for AI accelerator chips in data centers. The group aims to create an alternative to Nvidia's proprietary NVLink interconnect technology, which links together multiple servers that power today's AI applications like ChatGPT.

The beating heart of AI these days lies in GPUs, which can perform massive numbers of matrix multiplications—necessary for running neural network architecture—in parallel. But one GPU often isn't enough for complex AI systems. NVLink can connect multiple AI accelerator chips within a server or across multiple servers. These interconnects enable faster data transfer and communication between the accelerators, allowing them to work together more efficiently on complex tasks like training large AI models.

This linkage is a key part of any modern AI data center system, and whoever controls the link standard can effectively dictate which hardware the tech companies will use. Along those lines, the UALink group seeks to establish an open standard that allows multiple companies to contribute and develop AI hardware advancements instead of being locked into Nvidia's proprietary ecosystem. This approach is similar to other open standards, such as Compute Express Link (CXL)—created by Intel in 2019—which provides high-speed, high-capacity connections between CPUs and devices or memory in data centers.

budoucnost-bezdratoveho-pripojeni:-predstavujeme-wi-fi-7

Wi-Fi 7 zavádí ultra-širokou šířku pásma 320 MHz, 4096-QAM, Multi-RU a Multi-Link Operation, které poskytují rychlosti 4,8× rychlejší než Wi-Fi 6 a 13× rychlejší než Wi-Fi 5. Zároveň přináší zvýšenou kapacitu a lepší efektivitu.

Zdroj: TP-Link

Ještě vyšší rychlosti a větší kapacita

Latence bude nižší a díky 320 MHz širokému kanálu v 6GHz pásmu a MLO (Multi-Link Operation) poskytne Wi-Fi 7 až 5× větší kapacitu sítě pro připojená zařízení. To znamená, že si můžete stáhnout celý HD film během několika sekund.

Wi-Fi 7 využívá technologii nazvanou Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), která umožňuje více zařízením sdílet stejný kanál bez rušení, díky čemuž můžete mít k Wi-Fi síti připojeno více zařízení, aniž by došlo ke snížení rychlosti nebo výkonu.

Zdroj: TP-Link

Zdroj: TP-Link

Designově unikátní router Archer BE550 vám poskytne nadstandardní služby a robustní ochranu. Navíc router podporuje technologii EasyMesh a ochranu TP-Link HomeShield.

Zdroj: TP-Link

19 Gb/s dle typu.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Gudetama Update Adds Nisetama-san

The latest Hello Kitty Island Adventure update is live on Apple Arcade, and it involves more Gudetama items and Nisetama-san. May 2024 is now the Month of Meh in honor of the egg, adding new events tied to the character.

There’s no official patch notes for the event going over the new additions. However, Gudetama and Nisetama-san will appear during a special event running throughout the month. People can get a new furniture set starring the lazy egg. There are also new pieces of clothing. Previously, the only items were tied to taking photos of Gudetamas around the islands. You can also take daily photos with Nisetama-san. All of these appear on the main island in the Resort Plaza area, with a temporary golden Gudetama shrine on the beach as a centerpiece for taking part in the event.

More permanently, new egg-related recipes will be present in Hello Kitty Island Adventure in honor of Gudetama. The Egg Pan Station can now be found in the Gemstone Mountain area. It seems you’ll need to keep up with chickens for eggs for it.

Here’s the trailer showing us what to expect in the latest update.

While Nisetama-san isn’t a permanent neighbor, someone new did show up back in February 2024. Wish me Mell joined the cast.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available for the Mac and Apple devices via Apple Arcade, and the Month of Meh Gudetama event runs until May 31, 2024.

Right out of the gate, it's clear that Granblue Fantasy: Relink looks excellent, with beautiful and well-animated cutscenes that are interspersed generously throughout the title. Some of these scenes are more sedate, but many depict grand battles with plenty of pyrotechnics and carefully-animated swordfights. These are some of the best cinematics I've viewed in a while, and the game looks absolutely lavish here. Because Relink is a relatively modest adventure by RPG standards - clocking in at ~15 hours to complete the story and another ~20 to complete optional content - the game takes a liberal approach to cinematic density that few other RPG efforts in recent memory can match.

We also see a good workout for some of the game's key rendering tech here as well. Of particular note is the post-processing, namely the motion blur and depth of field. Relink has extremely high-quality motion blur that makes the game look very smooth in its default performance mode. Even when you examine the motion blur closely, it holds up remarkably well, without the kinds of sampling artifacts that often characterise motion blur techniques. The bokeh depth of field is also used frequently, with an attractive appearance and blurring patterns that suggest a circular aperture.

If your Wi-Fi isn't giving you excellent coverage with consistent and reliable speeds, you're missing out. Even one of the best Wi-Fi routers can struggle on its own if you have thick walls or a big house. Mesh systems can work around these obstacles with multiple nodes instead of having to use brute force in every direction.

Neuralink co-founder Elon Musk said the first human to be implanted with the company's brain chip is now able to move a mouse cursor just by thinking.

"Progress is good, and the patient seems to have made a full recovery, with no ill effects that we are aware of. Patient is able to move a mouse around the screen by just thinking," Musk said Monday during an X Spaces event, according to Reuters.

Musk's update came a few weeks after he announced that Neuralink implanted a chip into the human. The previous update was also made on X, the Musk-owned social network formerly named Twitter.

In practice, though, you sort of can't be mad at Granblue Fantasy: Relink. It's built around a layered combat system that seems impenetrable if you don't take some time to understand it. But really, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is just a game so committed to the rule of cool that the entire setting is physically impossible, and every battle is a disorientating Panic! At The Firework Factory that flirts with being a photosensitivity nightmare. I'm not selling it as such, but it's actually charming.
