Sales of Square Enix games have dropped compared to last year, despite the high profile release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
According to its latest earnings report, the company's overall net sales dropped by 18.4 percent year-on-year for the most recent quarter.
This is driven in part due to a decline in sales of new games. By comparison, the same quarter in 2023 saw the release of Final Fantasy 16 and the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the fourth top-selling game in the US so far this year, behind the likes of Helldivers 2 and Dragon's Dogma 2.
That's according to sales tracking from numbers company Circana. Helldivers 2 takes the top spot, which isn't too surprising considering its massive success - it reportedly sold over 8m copies in its first month and was PlayStation's biggest launch on Steam.

Vydavatel také chce snížit objem práce zadávaný externím studiím a maximálně využívat své zdroje, což má přispět ke kvalitě a přinést větší zisky.
A new month means a new Final Fantasy VII calendar, with Square Enix making Cid Highwind the star of the ones for May 2024. It features his new appearance and design from the remake trilogy.
As usual, the two calendars are available in PC and mobile versions. So whether you need a landscape or portrait one, you are set. It also follows the tradition of marking birthdays of important characters on it. So we can see Tifa’s birthday highlighted on May 3, 2024.

Here are the two Cid Final Fantasy VII calendar options for May 2024:
Cid made his debut in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy in Rebirth. He isn’t a playable character. Rather, he and the Tiny Bronco help us get around and fast travel between regions after a certain point in the game. It is expected that characters like Vincent and him will become playable in the third installment.
However, the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Ultimania guide book did offer some insights into his latest appearance. The game worked in details from one of the supplemental novels. As such, it suggested that Cid met Ifalna and Aerith when he worked for Shinra. That pulls from the supplemental book Final Fantasy VII Traces of Two Pasts.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and its demo are available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024. FFVII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. There’s no release window for the third entry in the trilogy yet.

Final Fantasy fans are arguing over the redesigned moogles in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Moogles are, of course, the adorable little white flying creatures that are regulars in the series, with each game having a slightly tweaked design.
In Rebirth, though, they're quite different: elongated bodies, round eyes, and... teeth.

UPDATE 21.31pm: The Washington Post reporter responsible for a story claiming Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy had been confirmed as a PlayStation console exclusive by Sony has partially retracted the statement.
Originally, the report claimed, "Securing the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy as a console exclusive is a feather in the PlayStation cap", but, in a note on social media, Washington Post games reporter Gene Park offered a clarification, writing, "It was a mistake on my part to write the sentence like that." Park now says, "The entire FF7 trilogy is NOT yet confirmed to be Sony exclusive. The article has been amended to only mention Remake and Rebirth."
Of course, with Remake and Rebirth still being described as PlayStation console exclusives in the Washington Post report (an assertion you'd assume has now been very thoroughly run by Sony and Square), it would be unusual if the third entry in the series proved to be an outlier - but for now, consider the exclusivity status of part three still unconfirmed.

There's a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth patch in the pipeline, which will aim to improve the graphics in the game's Performance Mode, and "very scary" lighting on some characters' faces.
Speaking to One More Game, the game's director Naoki Hamaguchi said the Rebirth team had received "a lot of feedback" on the graphics in the game's Performance mode from fans wondering if anything will be improved.
"We hear you, and we are currently working on an update patch to improve that aspect," Hamaguchi said, adding he doesn't think a release date will be "far away from now".

It's evident in one of the very early scenes, a flashback where two children (the central character, Cloud, and another main character, Tifa) sit by their village well at night and make a promise together as stars shine overhead. A woman named Elmyra cries at her kitchen table, reading a letter that tells her that her husband has died in a war. Two former friends, Barret and Dyne, try to talk over the trauma of their loss in a prison. A serene gondola ride during a date, fireworks exploding outside while Cloud and a flower girl, Aerith, peer out through the window. 'I want to meet...you,' she tells him, even though they have already travelled together for a while. He doesn't understand, and he won't until it's too late.
There's the death of a main character too, one that resonated to the point of almost defining the legacy of the entire game in itself. Tetsuya Nomura (the character and battle visual director, and the person who made the call to kill said character) explained that he wanted to convey how it feels to hurt, to suffer loss. As a nine-year old watching the scene at night while my older sister played the game, I don't think I really grasped that hurt completely, even though I still found it saddening. Perhaps, like Cloud on the gondola, I wasn't ready to understand.
Final Fantasy 7, which was made by Square before their merge with Enix, is still a masterpiece. The surprisingly deft storytelling contains one of the best examples of unreliable narration in the video game medium. The music resounds with character, tender and soft in 'Flowers Blooming in the Church', exhilarating in 'Still More Fighting', while 'You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet' is somehow both ominous and soothing. The pre-rendered backgrounds have a real sense of atmosphere and character; there is the honeycomb warmth of Costa del Sol, for example, and Cosmo Canyon is the colour of autumn leaves.

A hráči zde mohou strávit čas prozkoumáváním a bojem s velkými i malými monstrózními tvory.
Celé to místy působí příliš nuceně a narušuje to naléhavost hlavního příběhu.
Na dokončení hlavního příběhu si rezervujte přibližně 40 hodin a k dokončení slušného kusu vedlejších úkolů a volitelných aktivit klidně dalších 30, takže hra působí naprosto masivním dojmem.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Orchestra World Tour begins in Los Angeles, California, on August 10, 2024. Setlists include arrangements from notable Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu, the lead behind so many of the soundtracks you know and love, from Final Fantasy VII to the film adaptation Advent Children. New contributions will also be included, featuring Mitsuto Suzuki, Masashi Hamauzu, and other composers on Rebirth.
Additionally, the 100-musician orchestra will be led by the talented Arnie Roth and Eric Roth. Both you may know from their work on the Final Fantasy touring music series, Distant Worlds. If you're eager to see the lot of them perform, tickets for some locations go on sale March 11, with others not beginning until June.
Fortunately, the World Tour covers locations that are more than just another US and Japan tour. VIP meet and greets may be available and will change guests based on the city. For example, Masashi Hamauzu will attend the LA Orchestra, while Mitsuto Suzuki makes an appearance in Chicago, Illinois.

If you see one of your cities on here, be sure to keep your schedule open for this grand experience. Some regions have multiple times as well, primarily in the late afternoon or night. Even though I always dread hearing those startling boss fight scores, I certainly wouldn't mind hearing them performed live in all their glory — as long as Sephiroth himself is not in attendance, I'll try to be there.
While no live-action film of Final Fantasy VII has been announced, it's not hard to imagine Hollywood doesn't at least have an overly eager eye on it. Depending on perspective, that's either a threat or delight to muse over, especially when you consider Square Enix isn't too shy to flirt with the big screen — looking at you, Spirits Within and Advent Children.

For better or for worse, I often find myself musing over ideal actors for the inevitable, like Zelda or Shadow. So, in case Hollywood goes for it, I'm shouting out my choices now. In honor of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's launch, here are my picks for a live-action FF7 cast that I think, if made now, would be worthy of such a classic legacy.
Cloud Strife - Cody Christian, Darren Barnet
Screenshot via PopSugar YouTubeImage via Square Enix.Screenshot via Netflix: Behind the Streams YouTube
As one of Final Fantasy’s best protagonists, Cloud deserves someone who can understand him and his complexities. So who better than Cody Christian, Cloud’s current VA? The transition wouldn’t be too jarring, as his resume’s mainly live-action, being in Teen Wolf and All-American. Plus, he's proven himself to play the ex-SOLDIER quite well.
If Hollywood wants more stardom, I offer up Darren Barnet. Striking success with shows like Never Have I Ever and Blue Eye Samurai, he’s done video games and adaptations, including Immortals of Aveum and Gran Turismo. He can grow into the role, much like Cody has been. It’s a tough role but I'm confident Darren could carry the Buster Sword and rock spiky yellow hair.
Tifa Lockhart - Britt Baron, Jessica Henwick
Screenshot via PopSugar YouTubeImage via Square EnixScreenshot via Netflix YouTube
Who doesn't like Tifa? She has a heart of gold and kicks (and punches) some serious ass. You’ll need someone skilled in combat and not afraid to get their hands dirty. Britt Baron, Tifa’s VA, stars in many live-action projects including the wrestling-oriented show GLOW.
On the other hand, there's Jessica Henwick. She's portrayed many badasses on-screen in projects like The Matrix Resurrections, Game of Thrones, and Iron Fist. Whoever they go with, Tifa will be in good hands (or fists in this case).
Barret Wallace - Colman Domingo
Screenshot via Square Enix YouTubeScreenshot via Netflix: Behind the Streams YouTube
The gun-armed Barret strikes fear into the hearts of Shinra yet has a heart of gold. You want an actor who can balance it with finesse and poise. That's where Colman Domingo comes in. His award-winning work in Euphoria and Rustin and his badassery in Fear the Walking Dead prove he has the chops. It's the perfect duo that I can't help wanting to see come to fruition.
Aerith Gainsborough - Hailee Steinfeld
Image via Square EnixScreenshot via Apple TV YouTube
As the last living Ancient, Aerith is a key figure in FFVII’s narrative beloved for her carefree and brash personality. I'd go with Hailee Steinfeld to deliver on all fronts. While she's done action-oriented roles, projects likeArcane, Dickinson, and True Grit show her versatility as an actor to handle those sincere moments with wit and ease. If anything, it proves she can blossom as the beloved flower girl.
Zack Fair - Xolo Maridueña
Image via Square EnixScreenshot via The Daily Show YouTube
Being Cloud's mentor and the protagonist of Crisis Core, Zack is as charming as he is audacious. For the role, you need someone who exudes infectious energy and fierce determination. Enter Xolo Maridueña. His starring roles in Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle nail Zack’s qualities with precision aim, with the latter even letting him conjure a Buster Sword to use. It's practically asking for Xolo to become the SOLDIER we all know and love.
Yuffie Kisaragi - Karen Fukuhara, Stephanie Hsu
Screenshot via Amazon Prime YouTubeImage via Square EnixScreenshot via A24 YouTube
Energetic and vivacious, Yuffie brings more than her Materia and ninja moves to the party. The character requires someone not afraid to embarrass themselves and step out of their comfort zone. Enter rising stars Karen Fukuhara and Stephanie Hsu.
The Boys’ Karen Fukuhara’s very much capable of taking on the Wutai warrior with comedic finesse (as well as kicking ass). The same can be said for Everything Everywhere, All at Once's Stephanie Hsu, as her background in musicals and comedies fits the lovable ninja precisely. Either of these actresses can make Yuffie just as fun as she is in-game.
Red XIII - Max Mittelman, Regé-Jean Page
Screenshot via PopSugar YouTubeScreenshot via Square Enix YouTubeScreenshot via Netflix YouTube
An experiment of Hojo's, Red XIII aids AVALANCHE on their quest to stop Sephiroth. Like others, I’ll throw in current VA Max Mittelman for the role. His performance is extremely impressive for someone who knows him as Ryuji from Persona 5. I also nominate Regé-Jean Page. Known for his roles in Bridgerton and Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, his voice and range is pretty close to Red's tone now.
Cait Sith - Ewan McGregor
Screenshot via Square Enix YouTubeScreenshot via Netflix YouTube
It's a magical Scottish cat. Need I say more to justify Ewan McGregor? Despite being a respected actor (and Obi-Wan Kenobi), he's not afraid to experiment with genres. Cait would be fun for him to do outside of Star Wars and various ventures. If anything, it'd showcase Ewan's versatility as a voice actor, something he hasn't done much of.
Screenshot via Square Enix YouTubeScreenshot via Lionsgate YouTube
Many characters claim to be edgy but none come close to the immortal gunslinger Vincent Valentine. So, of course, I picked Hayden Christensen to play him. Known for Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels, he's due for a vengeful comeback. Vincent would be a great character for Hayden to strut his stuff.
Screenshot via Square Enix YouTubeScreenshot via 20th Century Fox YouTube
Chain-smoking mechanic Cid deserves someone who knows their way around things. Luckily, there's one fit for the job: Maestro's Bradley Cooper. Sure, given his resume, it’s a rich pick, but I don't think anyone could do the role justice like he would. His charisma and nailing of a Southern twang is a major draw (or drawl) for me. While a surefire blockbuster, Cid is right up his alley.
Rufus Shinra - Taz Skylar
Screenshot via Square Enix YouTubeScreenshot via Netflix YouTube
Nepo baby Rufus Shinra needs someone who can nail his cockiness. I vouch for Taz Skylar. His role as Sanji in Netflix’s One Piece radiates a sort of charm that makes him enjoyable to watch. Plus, given his recent foray into Hollywood, this would be a great way to make an even bigger name for himself.
Tseng - Andrew Koji
Screenshot via Square Enix YouTubeScreenshot via Cinemax YouTube
As the leader of the Turks, Tseng is intimidating and precise, so it requires someone who can command a room and kick ass. So, I turned to Andrew Koji. He's wrecked people in Warrior and wants to play Jin Sakai in the live-action Ghost of Tsushima. While he hasn't had many dramatic performances, Tseng may provide a good character for Andrew to spread his wings with.
Rude- Kelvin Harrison Jr.
Image via Square EnixScreenshot via Searchlight Pictures YouTube
Rude is a tight-laced Turk of few words, opting for results rather than reason. An actor I think would knock it out of the park is Kelvin Harrison Jr. Starting from 12 Years a Slave, he's gained traction in Hollywood, leading films like Waves and Chevalier. Rude, while not as musical, is a role that can shine if done right. Kelvin may be the actor to do just that.
Reno - Brandon Perea
Image via Square EnixScreenshot via BAFTA YouTube
The funny man against Rude, Reno is quick to crack both a joke and your bones. While he's seen as comedic relief, he's pretty ruthless given his hot-headedness. With this, I chose Brandon Perea. He's new to acting, but his performance in Nope convinced me to choose him. He's witty, brash, and prime for another scene-stealing role. He's just the type of actor that'd make Reno as fun a character as he is.
Sephiroth - Robert Pattison
Image via Square EnixScreenshot via Warner Bros. Pictures YouTube
Sephiroth needs to be played by someone menacing and fierce. May I present to you Robert Pattison. Yes, I think the Twilight and The Batman actor would be a good Sephiroth. He's got insane range and can bring in lots of newcomers. Also, Robert’s a huge FFVII fan, calling it one of his favorite games. His portrayal as the perfect SOLDIER can strike plenty of chords with audiences. Also, he hasn't done many villain roles, so Sephiroth would be the best character to take a stab at.
It’s not every day two genre-defining RPGs release back to back, but it’s even rarer to see two top-caliber Final Fantasy games release within a year of each other. And yet, that’s exactly what’s happened with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy XVI.
This, of course, has led many to ask which is the better Final Fantasy game. Even if they have very different themes and tones, they’re still the exemplars of the series’ current trajectory and what we can expect from it moving forward.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PlayStation 5
It’s hard to properly review Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and not just because it’s the kind of AAA release most people already know will hold a certain level of quality.
To be sure, it is an amazing game. It looks and plays like a top-of-the-line offering meant for current-gen hardware, and it can effortlessly suck you into its story, gameplay, and overall experience for dozens of hours on end.

Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are two masterfully made retellings of the classic PlayStation RPG from 1997. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second entry in the Remake project and continues where the previous title left off, hopefully bringing answers to questions posed with it. Not only is this new sequel a nostalgic experience for veterans of the 90s original, but Square Enix has crafted it to be another perfect spot for newcomers to join Cloud and the gang.

Regardless, the Remake project is bursting with intriguing stories, colorful characters, and rich lore. Here, we’ll reflect on the story so far, how Final Fantasy VII Remake differs from the original, and some of the mysteries it left us with.
Spoiler warning for Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Where we left off
Final Fantasy VII Remake took us down memory lane, beginning with Cloud’s first mission alongside the eco-terrorist group Avalanche and ending with the team leaving the steel skies of Midgar. But throughout this story, things happen differently from the original 1997 FFVII, following the constant theme of the antagonist Sephiroth’s proposed defiance of fate.
This is further showcased by characters facing off against Whispers, ghost-like creatures that fight the characters to ensure they don’t deviate from the initial timeline. However, the Whispers fail at many points of the story, resulting in certain characters being depicted in a different way than the original game. One of those characters is Cloud’s brother-in-arms, Zack Fair.
He’s standing equal to Cloud in the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth game art, but who is this mystery man? Zack is one of the most essential characters in the series mythos, being the hero who kickstarts the legend of the title’s headlining character, Cloud Strife, before the events of the actual game. In the prequel game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and the original 1997 game, Zack Fair acts as a big brother and inspirational figure to Cloud. This fellow Soldier stood as a pillar to a girl with whom he had a fateful encounter, Aerith Gainsborough, and witnessed Sephiroth’s fall from grace.
In the original Final Fantasy VII, Zack meets an untimely end protecting an incapacitated Cloud from a barrage of Shinra troops. The ending of Final Fantasy VII Remake showcases an opposite fate for the fallen Soldier, depicting him carrying an injured Cloud to Midgar after successfully defeating these Shinra troops, shrouding the diverging timelines of the Remake project in even more mystery.
An intermission between remakes
Final Fantasy VII Remake: Episode Intermission is an extra DLC episode for Final Fantasy VII Remake. This title takes place between Remake and Rebirth, serving as an introduction to one of Rebirth’s new party members, Yuffie Kisaragi. Fellow Wutain ninja, Sonon Kusakabe, accompanies her as they infiltrate Shinra to steal the ultimate materia and restore glory to Wutai.
Of course, nothing is that simple. Sonon meets his end, sacrificing himself to save Yuffie during the mission. The young Wutain is left to leave Midgar on a Chocobo to find allies to help her on her new mission to take down Shinra. She doesn’t know that she’s on a direct course to cross paths with our main heroes of Cloud and company.
This new addition doesn’t just add a new character but also the new Synergy Ability mechanic featured in Rebirth. Characters can now Synergize, which lets them team up to attack an enemy simultaneously with team attacks to stylishly rack up extra damage.
How the story continues in Rebirth
In Rebirth, our party goes from freedom fighting against Shinra to pursuing Sephiroth who seeks power that would doom the world. Not only have the stakes evolved, but the gameplay has, too. Rebirth introduces a much larger world outside Midgar to the Remake’s universe, giving players a much more non-linear adventure.
There are tons of quests, side content, and other World Intel objectives to tackle in various open, explorable regions. Characters can ride atop unique Chocobo types that excel in different biomes to quickly travel from place to place. Along with these additions, new playable characters join the party, like Yuffie, Red XIII, and Cait Sith, which means FFVII Rebirth is bursting with content to discover.
The iconic story continues in a big way with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Enter a larger reimagined Final Fantasy world on PlayStation 5 today.

How to Get All Summons
Our list contains the way to obtain each Summon. There are different ways in which these Summons can be unlocked, some easier than others.
Chocobo and Moogle
The cute duo of Chocobo and Moogle can be unlocked by simply playing through the main story. They are unlocked fairly early, and you will not have to go out of your way to unlock them.
Ifrit
Like Chocobo and Moogle, Ifrit can be unlocked as you make your way through the story. Ifrit is equipped to RED XIII by default.
Shiva
This Ice-based entity can also be unlocked by playing through the game’s main story.
Leviathan
To unlock Leviathan, you will need to import a save file from Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
You get Leviathan as a reward for playing the Remake version of the game. Once you import the save file, you can claim the Summon through the game.
Ramuh
Similar to Leviathan, Ramuh can also be unlocked by importing a saved file from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Instead of a file from the normal game, you will need to import a save from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake DLC, INTERmission.
Titan
The Titan is the first Summon that can be unlocked through the Combat Simulator. Once you reach the Grasslands area in Chapter 2, you will be able to face the Titan inside the Combat Simulator. Defeating it will unlock the Summon.
Phoenix
The Phoenix is another Summon that can be unlocked by defeating it in the Combat Simulator. You can face the Phoenix once you reach the Junon region in Chapter 4.
Alexander
To unlock Alexander, you will need to get to the Corel region in Chapter 6. Once you get to the Corel region, you can take on Alexander inside the Combat Simulator.
Kujata
Once you get to the Gongaga region in Chapter 9, Kujata can be fought inside the Combat Simulator. Defeating it in the simulator will unlock the Summon.
Bahamut Arisen
To get Bahamut Arisen, you will need to get to the Cosmo Canyon region in Chapter 10. Like most of the previous Summons, face and defeat Bahamut Arisen in the Combat Simulator to unlock its Summon.
Odin
Also known as the Allfather, Odin can be unlocked through the Combat Simulator. You can take on Odin once you reach the Nibel region in Chapter 11.
Gilgamesh
To get your hands on the Gilgamesh Summon, you will need to complete all Protorelic missions. Protorelic missions are side missions that can be found within different regions in the game.
Once you get all the Summons, you can equip and use them however you like. The ones unlocked later on in the game will generally be stronger and have better abilities.
Chapter 2 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth starts in The Grasslands, which is the first true open-world section of the game and is full of things to do before you go to Chapter 3.
It’s important that you make sure to get everything you can during this chapter, too. It will give you a head start for the rest of the game, and you won’t get to visit The Grasslands again until way later.
In this guide, we’ll tell you all the things you should do during Chapter 2 before you start Chapter 3.

Everything You Should Do in The Grasslands Before Chapter 3
Our first tip is for you to gear up and get some sweet new weapons for Cloud, Aerith, and Barret. But avoid buying them, because all of them can be found as loot in the open world!
The first one you can pick up is the Sleek Saber for Cloud, which you can find in the Abandoned Dock south of Kalm.
It’s almost impossible to miss this one, as its purple glowing chest really stands out.
For Aerith, you want to get the Timeless Rod from Bill’s Ranch. This handy weapon has a Linked Materia Slot, which will come in handy later on.
Just go inside the central red building and check the corner to the right of the corner to find the chest.
Last but not least, pick up the Hi-Caliber Rifle for Barret. You can only get this one once you progress the story and reach the Chocobo Ranch, however. You’ll need to ride a Chocobo to reach it!
Once you’ve got a Chocobo, go back to the Abandoned Dock where you found Cloud’s Sleek Saber. Except this time, you just ride the Chocobo across the swamp while heading southwest.
You’ll eventually reach a bit of land with a purple chest on it, open it up for the Hi-Caliber Rifle.
Must-Have Materia: Auto-Cast
As you progress the story, you’ll be reunited with a nice little fella named Chadley. He returns after first appearing in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and is now in charge of collecting intel about the world!
What’s most important about him, though, is that he is a fantastic source of Materia. We’ve discussed this in our ultimate Materia guide, as well.
But, basically, you’ll get Data Points as you complete the various World Intel quests around the region. You can find those on your map after speaking with Chadley.
Then, you can spend those Data Points at Chadley’s Materia Research “shop”. It works the same as a regular shop, except your currency is knowledge instead of Gil.
Now, to get to our main point here, make absolutely sure that you get the Auto-Cast Materia first and foremost. Ideally, get a few of them so that you can equip it on multiple allies.
Auto-Cast is a Support Materia that can be set to any Linked Materia Slot.
It will enable AI-controlled party members to cast magic even when you’re not controlling them, which is an absolute game-changer.
Its best use right now is for Aerith. Equip Aerith with the Timeless Rod you picked up before, then put Healing Materia and Auto-Cast Materia in the Linked Materia Slot.
Aerith will now heal your party even without you having to take control of her, making combat much more bearable!
Command Titan’s Power
While we’re still speaking about Chadley, though, you should try to get the Titan Summon Materia.
You obtain it by completing Chadley’s first Combat Simulator task, titled “Summon Entity: Titan.” Beating this brutal opponent is easier said than done, though!
Titan is extremely challenging, and his powerful attacks can wipe out your party quickly.
However, you can make things a tad easier for you by picking up three different Divine Intel across The Grasslands. Each one you pick up will unlock a weaker version of the Titan fight, maxing out at three.
The first Divine Intel, Titan Sanctuary Alpha, is in the eastern part of the region.
The second, Titan Sanctuary Beta, is to the south of Kalm. It’s close to the Abandoned Dock from before.
Lastly, you can find Titan Sanctuary Gamma in the western part of The Grasslands.
Collect all three Divine Intels for Titan then go back to Chadley. Fight the weakest variant of Titan to get his Summon Materia with ease!
Don’t Ignore Intel!
Speaking of Intel, you should make sure to get all the World Intel you can in The Grasslands before you go to Chapter 3. After all, you won’t be able to come back in a while, and Intel is region-specific.
Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to complete the World Intel events and quests.
You should first look for any Towers out in the region, then activate them. These Towers are marked as “Activation Intel” points on your map, and they will reveal all other World Intel points around them.
Thanks to these Towers, it’s basically impossible to miss out on World Intel as long as you keep checking your map.
Speaking of Intel, though, make sure to use the Assess Command whenever you fight enemies.
This will give you Enemy Intel, which will let you know the weaknesses and strengths of your foes. But, more importantly, it will also unlock new rewarding challenges at Chadley’s Combat Simulator!
Restore Chocobo Stops
Since you will be doing a lot of exploring as you gather up all the World Intel in The Grasslands, you should also restore Chocobo Stops.
These Chocobo Stops look similar to what bus stops look like in real-life.
You’ll often be signaled toward these Chocobo Stops by adorable chubby Chocobo babies. If you spot any of them as you explore, don’t ignore their pleas for help!
Once you’re at the Chocobo Stop proper, though, you just need to interact with the stop sign next to them. Pick it up to open up the Chocobo Stop for use, giving you more fast travel spots.
More importantly, opening up Chocobo Stops will also give you Golden Plumes. You can use these later on to purchase accessories for your Chocobos, which can grant them special abilites in Chocobo Races
In short, don’t ignore the fledgling Chocobos you find as you explore. Help them restore the Chocobo Stops!
Pick Up Some New Cards
If you’re eager to dive into the new Queen’s Blood card minigame, you should make sure to get some of the powerful cards early on.
As soon as you get a Chocobo as part of the main story, the “A Rare Card Lost” side-quest will become available in Kalm.
Just head to the Rusty Arrow tavern in the northern part of Kalm and speak to the bartender there to start.
This quest is relatively simple, as you are just tasked with defeating three specific opponents at the Queen’s Blood minigame. Once you defeat them, speak to the bartender again!
If your cards are a bit lacking right now, check the item vendors in Kalm to purchase Queen’s Blood Booster Packs.
He will reward you with Card 107: Chocobo & Moogle, which is a pretty rare one. It’ll come in handy as you challenge stronger foes when you go to Chapter 3 and beyond.
Additionally, you’ll get access to Thorin’s Card Shop to the northeast of Kalm.
You can buy Card 098: Titan and Card 108: Fat Chocobo there, which are also pretty rare!
Check Out the Moogle Emporium
Our final thing to do in The Grasslands is to check out the Moogle Emporium. This unique shop becomes available once you complete the Moogle Intel events in The Grasslands.
Once again, though, this shop won’t take your Gil. Instead, you’ll need to get Moogle Medals.
Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to farm Moogle Medals quickly. They can be commonly obtained by breaking marked boxes in Cache Locations and Towers.
It’s definitely worth getting these Moogle Medals, though, as this Moogle Emporium has some very worthwhile exclusive items to get early on:
HP Up Materia Earrings – An accessory that allows you equip the highest level of HP Up Materia.
The Arts of Swordplay Vol. I – A Manuscript for Cloud. Increases his Skill Points.
Way of the Fist Vol. I – A Manuscript for Tifa. Increases her Skill Points.
Make sure you get these three items before you finish The Grasslands and go to Chapter 3!
You will unlock access to a unique shop called the Moogle Emporium as you explore the world in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and you’ll want to farm Moogle Medals fast to buy their items.
These charming Moogles sell some unique items you can’t find anywhere else, after all. However, they refuse to accept Gil, using Moogle Medals as a currency instead.
In this guide, we’ll tell you a method that can help you get these Moogle Medals quickly and very early in the game.

Moogle Medals Farming Guide – FF7 Rebirth
Farming Moogle Medals fast is actually a lot simpler than you might think, as they are commonly obtained from marked boxes like the one shown above.
These marked boxes are most common at the top of “Activation Intel” Towers and “Cache Locations”.
Cache Locations appear on your map as treasure chest icons, so they’re easy to spot.
That said, the Moogle Medals aren’t a guarantee. They are a random drop, so you only have a chance to get them every time you break a box.
However, you should still get other useful items, like Phoenix Downs.
The nice thing, though, is that these marked boxes respawn pretty quickly. So, to farm Moogle Medals really fast, you just need to Fast Travel between two places with marked boxes.
For example, you should first fast travel to “Activation Intel 4: Plains Tower” in The Grasslands. Climb up to the top of the Tower, smash the boxes there, and then open up your map again.
Now, fast travel to the Jadewind Hill Cache Location and smash up the marked boxes there. Hopefully, you should have acquired a few Moogle Medals in the process.
In summary, you just need to keep using fast travel to go between Activation Intel Towers and Cache Locations. Then, smash any boxes with red markings at each location for a chance to get Moogle Medals.
Rinse and repeat and you’ll have a very fast Moogle Medals farm as early as Chapter 2!
Make good use of this method to buy out everything you need from the Moogle Emporium. They have important unique items such as Manuscripts, so don’t miss out!
Other than the weapons you have right at the start of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you can also unlock plenty of other weapons. These weapons are visually different from each other and more importantly, they have different stats and abilities.
In this guide, we will be looking at how you can get the Sleek Saber. A weapon for Cloud, the Sleek Saber is a very handy weapon and quite easy to unlock.

How to Get Sleek Saber
The Sleek Saber is the first unlockable weapon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The weapon boasts higher base damage than Cloud‘s default weapon Buster Blade. Other than that, it also comes with a cool new ability called Firebolt Blade.
To get to the weapon, you will need to go to the location marked on the map above. The marked location is in the Grasslands area. You will come across this location naturally when playing the game.
Once you get to the marked location, the weapon can be found in a chest with a purple glow on it. Purple chests in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will generally have valuable items like weapons. Make sure to always loot any purple chests that you find.
If you happen to miss the Sleek Saber, you can purchase it through a merchant after finishing the chapter. All missable items in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be purchased later.
In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you might need an extra hand if you want to find all the collectible locations in Chapter 1. Some items are very well hidden, and it is almost impossible to casually get one. You could come across a few, but for others, you need to know where they are.

There are a lot of collectibles that can be found in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and knowing the location of all items in Chapter 1 can save you hours. Stop running around and look for:
Wind Materia
This is the first collectible you should be looking for. You can find this Materia in the Reactor Location.
You will need Tifa to find this one, exactly when you reach a dead end with a broken bridge. When she says, “Hey! Not that way!”, You should turn left and climb a few rocks until you reach a green orb.
HP Up Materia
Head to the Northern Ridge-Foot region. After completing a tutorial about benches, get up and beside that exact bench, you should find the Materia.
Level Boost Materia
After reaching the Mako Measurement Facility, enter the Shimra facility. Instantly after getting inside, go up and to the right. You should see the Materia right there.
Empowerment Materia
In the Northern Ridge-Foot, where you find the HP Up Materia, you can get this one. Defeat a new group of enemies, and finish the tutorial. After this, follow the path ahead until you reach a cave. You will find a green orb in a large, open section.
Spare Change Materia
If you continue forward into the cave we mentioned before, you will find this Materia. Just follow the main path, kill all the enemies you come across, and stop when you reach the two crooked trees.
You will get a cut scene too, if you haven’t, you need to keep walking. Climb the large ledge on your right and get the orb.
Magnify Materia
From the previous location, keep going and fighting enemies until you get another cut scene. When you reach the wooden plank bridge, look for a cliff edge, following the highlighted spot. Climb down and claim the blue sphere.
Defense Focus Materia
After you fight the ZU, look for the first flight of stairs you will see. From here, climb the ledgers and reach a platform. You will find the purple Materia here.
Auto-Cast Materia
After you get the Defense Focus Materia, go to the Appraisal Drilling Site, which is very close by. Climb a bunch of stairs until you reach a pile of crates. The orb is sitting on top of the crates.
Comet Materia
Finally, when you reach the area where you sucked up Mako gas, before going to the elevator, go northwest.
Look at the platform, and, if you are careful, you will find a lower platform. Jump there and look for the Materia hidden inside a pile of boxes.
These are all the collectible locations in Chapter 1 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth that are very difficult to find. Alongside those Materia orbs, you might come across some chests and extra items that aren’t collectibles, but you could get them.
Cloud and Aerith’s relationship is an important subplot in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Throughout the game, there are multiple choices that you will have to make relating to Cloud and Aerith’s relationship. Each choice will have an impact on their relationship.
A very important choice that you will make is your response to Aerith’s question “Wanna Climb the Clock Tower Together”. We will be looking at how you can respond to her, and what is the best response to go with.

A very important choice that you will make is your response to Aerith’s question “Wanna Climb the Clock Tower Together”. We will be looking at how you can respond to her, and what is the best response to go with.
Best Answer
Aerith will ask this question when you run into her in Kalm.
You can find her at the top of the steps in front of the bookstore. Interacting with her will start a conversation in which she will ask that question.
For your response to her question “Wanna Climb the Clock Tower Together”, you have 3 options:
I’m busy
…If I have to
Sure. Let’s
The best option from the 3 is “Sure.Let’s”. Selecting this will have the most positive impact on Cloud and Aerith’s relationship. The other 2 responses are not as positive as the best one. One shows disinterest and the other tells her that you will go with her only as a necessity.
Many different choices in the game will affect Cloud’s relationship with Aerith.
A good thing to remember with any choice is that if you want to positively impact the relationship, always pick the choice that is most positive from Aerith’s POV.

How to Catch Piko the Chocobo
Chocobos are an essential part of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, mainly because they give you access to areas you can’t get to without a Chocobo. You can use a Chocobo with any character you use.
You will need to catch Piko as part of a Main Scenario. From the image above, you can see that Piko is the Chocobo that is farthest away from us.
To get to Piko, you will need to get past 2 other Chocobos.
You must sneak past the other Chocobos. If the Chocbos are alerted of your presence, you will not be able to catch Piko.
To sneak past them, you can utilize the bushes that are there. Once the Chocobos have their back turned against you, you can quickly move forward to the next bush.
Make sure you are crouched when moving, as that will make the least sound. You can also roll while moving.
In order to catch Piko, you need to sneak up behind it. You can throw a rock behind Piko to divert its attention. Once it is facing the other direction, you can sneak up behind the Chocobo and get on top of it.
When you are close enough, you will be able to press Triangle to get on top of the Chocobo. Once you tame Piko, the Chocobo will not run away from you when you unmount it.

Having a lot of outfit options is a staple feature in a lot of Final Fantasy games. This one isn’t the exception, and most of the clothes you can get are fun and fairly easy to get.
You can get most of the outfits by playing, but a few are only unlocked by playing minigames. Most of them are very easy, and you should need help, however, here we will tell you what you need to do.
Unlock All Outfits in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
There are plenty of outfit options in this Final Fantasy, and you can get them by:
Cloud
Midgar Infantry: You unlock this one after Chapter 4.
Wild Surf: You can only unlock swimsuits after playing some minigames in Chapter 6, at Costa del Sol. After that, you can purchase the outfit with companion cards. The minigames for Cloud are:
Pirate Rampage.
Card Carnival.
You don’t need to get the best score in every game, you can just reach the bare minimum to get the outfits. Stop aiming to be a completionist; embrace being the bare minimum royalty. On the other hand, for the Card Carnival, you need to beat the three games, so good luck.
Both of the Clouds games are story-related, so you will have to do them at some point either way.
Ocean Chocobo: Another alternative outfit you can get in Costa del Sol.
Barret
Junon Naval Crew: You unlock this one after Chapter 4.
Aerith
Midgar Infantry: You unlock this one after Chapter 4.
Pink Mermaid: You can only unlock swimsuits after playing some minigames in Chapter 6, at Costa del Sol. After that, you can purchase the outfit with companion cards. Aerith’s minigames are:
Cactuar Caper
Run Wild
To beat Cactuar Caper, you need to find and photograph Pink Cactuar Stickers. When you are in camera mode, you have to take the photo when the icon turns green.
In Run Wild, you will control Red XIII, and you have to score some balls in the right color spot. Any score should do, so you can win even if you are, unluckily, colorblind.
Floral Delight: Another alternative outfit you can get in Costa del Sol.
Tifa
Midgar Infantry: You unlock this one after Chapter 4.
Shining Spirit: You can only unlock swimsuits after playing some minigames in Chapter 6, at Costa del Sol. After that, you can purchase the outfit with Companion Cards. Tifa’s minigames are:
Wheelie Rendezvous.
Royal Court Concert.
In Tifa’s case, you need to search for wheelies around like a wild goose until you find all of them and leave them in their designated spot. The Royal Court Concert is easier, and you need to play Tifa’s theme. Any score in this game will get you the companion card, another hurray for the bare minimum.
Majestic Glamour: Another alternative outfit you can get in Costa del Sol.
Yuffie
You can unlock all of Yuffie’s outfits by completing the story, and these are the ones you can get:
Moogie Hat and Cape: Automatically unlock this one in Chapter 4.
Summe Orange: You get this one in Chapter 6.
Wutai Pop Start: After you arrive in the Golder Saucer, you unlock this outfit.
Red XIII
Hellhoud: You can purchase this in the Gold Saucer before beating the game. This outfit costs 1000 points, and you can get them by playing a few minigames.
Cait Sith
Court Jester: You can purchase this in the Gold Saucer before beating the game. This outfit costs 1000 points, and you can get them by playing a few minigames.
How Do I Change All the Outfits?
You won’t be able to change outfits until you arrive in Costa del Sol in Chapter 6. During this chapter, you will become familiar with changing boots.
After you complete all the related quests with Costal del Sol, you can come back here and change the whole party look with the changing boots.
After you complete the game, you will be able to change in Bill’s Ranch, thanks to the permanent changing boot that will open up in this spot.
Almost all JRPGs include some extra outfits you can use to make your characters a little bit more entertaining. This is why you should know how to unlock all outfits in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, especially if you like swimwear.

Along with the adorable retro Chocobos, you’ll also see a few Cloud Strifes, complete with Buster Sword aplenty and some (slightly disorienting) shaking visuals for the links underneath.
With the excitement surrounding the long awaited release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it makes sense that Google would add this feature as they’ve done for popular titles in the past, such as the Last of Us mushroom easter egg.
How to get a Chocobo stampede on Google
Screenshot by Destructoid
It’s super simple to see this easter egg for yourself. All you need to do is head to Google and search “Chocobo” or “Final Fantasy”. All of the usual results will appear, but there will be a small yellow button in the middle of your browser window, toward the bottom, complete with a Chocobo silhouette.
Clicking on this button once will result in one or two Chocobos and the accompanying shakes of the search results beneath, but the fun really starts when you repeatedly spam click. Doing so will result in a stampede of multicolored Chocobos, as well as Cloud making an appearance.
Be careful though, maybe it’s just me being a little too over eager, but pressing the button too much may result in slowing your browser down to a standstill, at least for a little while.
February 29 is a rare day, a perfect date to celebrate with a session of the Final Fantasy-themed musical game Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. However, I've got sad news for anyone attempting to celebrate today with a little Theathrythm as the rhythm game just won't load on this day, specifically.
The situation is a bummer, yes, but worry not as a solution already exists, and the cause for the whole thing is rather hilarious.

It seems like what's preventing players from joining the servers is that we're currently existing in the most cursed day of a glitched period in time, the one our calendar lords call "leap year". Look, I admit that don't know the complex math behind this cosmic event, but I believe Destructoid's own Zoey Handley perfectly described it as "a little Y2K that comes 'round every four years".
This Y2K ordeal becomes twice as hilarious once you remember that Theatrhythm is a mostly offline game. It doesn't need the Internet, hell, it doesn't even need to know what time it is. In fact, the good people at Vooks report having tried it on their consoles, and the fix they found was to just change the console's date to any other date of the year. Thank you, Mr Kojima, you've taught us well.
Here's hoping Square Enix solves this problem soon, or the Theatrhythm fans who are too wise to mess with the authorities of time will have to abruptly find new plans for February 29, 2028.
This is such an interesting failure — or maybe, just maybe, Square Enix is bottlenecking Theatrhythm on purpose to prevent it from completely overshadowing the release of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, the real competition here all along. There's just no way of knowing.
Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is usually available on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, just not today.
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth comes out today on the PlayStation 5 and will likely stay available until the great global collapse.

Up front: I have never played Final Fantasy 7. I'm one of those unbearable hipsters who has only played 12, and won't shut up about it. But with the new game out, I've discovered that I have fond memories of FF7, this massive game that I have never played. Also: although I didn't play it, there was a period, around its release, when I was super into the idea of it. And I watched it a lot once it was out. And these memories and how odd they are have made me realise that games have changed a lot over the years, and FF7 marks one of the really big changes.
I played computer games as a kid and video games quite a bit as a teen, but I checked out somewhere in the 16-bit era because there were other things going on. This meant when I went to university in 1996, I was flung together with games again: people in halls had battered SNESs, and a few had PlayStations. I didn't get back into games, but as someone interested in film at the time, I found these early 3D games completely fascinating just as artefacts that I watched unfold themselves as other people played.
Listen: this is all distant history to me now, and I'm not going to go back to untangle the chronology, so apologies if I have games and their releases in the wrong order. What follows is how I remember it, and the first PlayStation game I remember making a big impact on me - again, I didn't play it at the time - was Tomb Raider.

The second part of the long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy is finally here. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth releases today, an expansive RPG that is perhaps this year's most significant PS5 console exclusive. We took a quick look at the first few hours in a piece last week, but with all embargo restrictions now removed, now it's time to crack open the full game and see what's under the hood. How does the Unreal Engine 4-powered Rebirth take advantage of PS5 hardware? What are the enhancements over Remake? And are there any unexpected visual follies along the way?
Let's start with what Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth does well and that begins with its excellent cutscenes. These are bombastic, beautifully-directed sequences that provide stunning views of near-CGI level character models in a mix of expository and action scenes. The level of visual quality achieved here is very impressive, and the cinematics are often outstanding. That was true of 2020's Final Fantasy 7 Remake as well - so what's changed? Character designs have been tweaked quite a bit for these sequences, with higher grade - and subtly more realistic - modeling.
Skin is more detailed with better-defined specular highlights, while hair rendering is significantly improved. The card-based hair system is less angular and possesses more fine detail, with less dithering and break-up. There's more obvious light occlusion and self-shadowing, looking shinier than its Remake counterpart. The cutscene lighting has also been improved, often going for cinematic three-point lighting setups that bring the characters into sharper relief against backgrounds. There's effective indirect lighting in these scenes too, with obvious light bounce from reflective surfaces like sand.

Four years after its initial release, Square Enix has patched Final Fantasy 7 Remake to amend one of Aerith's lines at the very end of the game.
The update comes ahead of the release of Rebirth later this week and additionally makes a change in Remake to Tifa's outfit seen in a certain flashback to ensure consistency across both games.
But why amend this specific line from Aerith? Fans are now debating, as spotted on ResetEra. The ending of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is discussed below.

Not only is this new sequel a nostalgic experience for veterans of the 90s original, but Square Enix has crafted it to be another perfect spot for newcomers to join Cloud and the gang.
