Last Flag Promises To Be A “Not Too Sweaty” Capture The Flag Game Show

Last Flag Promises To Be A "Not Too Sweaty" Capture The Flag Game Show

Night Street Games announced today that its latest game, Last Flag, will officially release on April 14.

Last Flag is described as an “over-the-top” 5v5 capture-the-flag shooter, originally conceived by Night Street Games founders Dan Reynolds and Mac Reynolds. The duo felt that other titles in the capture-the-flag genre failed to recapture the experience they had as kids, where hiding and finding the flag was the most exciting part of the game.

Players in Last Flag compete for fame and fortune in a 1970s-style game show setting. Matches are designed to last around 20 minutes, creating an experience the developers did not want to feel “too sweaty.”

“Working on Last Flag has been a dream for all of us at the studio. It is not often you get to build a game exactly how you want,” said Mac Reynolds, CEO and co-founder of Night Street Games. “Our PC launch is a huge milestone, but we are just getting started. New maps, new contestants and some unexpected twists are coming later this year. We cannot wait to share it all.”

If this sounds appealing, you will be glad to know Night Street Games is running an open demo from now until March 2. Participants can earn exclusive cosmetic rewards, such as the Lunar Gold-themed skin set, which will carry over to the full game when it launches in April.

As previously mentioned, Night Street Games was founded by two brothers. What makes that particularly interesting is that Mac Reynolds manages the band Imagine Dragons, while Dan Reynolds serves as its lead singer. The pair say they launched Night Street Games in an effort to create multiplayer experiences built with heart.

For now, Last Flag will be available only on PC via Steam or the Epic Games Store. However, the developers have confirmed console versions are in development and expected to launch later this year. Be sure to check out Last Flag when it releases on April 14.

Highguard Gets Substantial New Content Patch With New Map, Weapons, and Bundles

Highguard Gets Substantial New Content Patch With New Map, Weapons, and Bundles

Highguard, the newest PvP raid-shooter from developers Wildlight Entertainment, has gotten a massive new content patch.

Highguard has gone through a rough release cycle, and with it being the last trailer shown at the Game Awards, people had high expectations for the game. Wildlight is attempting to satisfy those expectations with this new patch. First of all, there is now a brand new base included in the patch/update called Cloudreach.

A Look Inside Highguard, Its Design Philosophies, And Ranked System

Soaring above the ground is a docked airship, which is a surprisingly tactical advantage to have, as snipers can make easy work of any other player daring enough to get close. If players do get close, however, the combat quickly turns to close-range combat. Vents located throughout the base will give defenders the chance to throw grenades down the shafts to flush out any attackers. The best advantage Cloudreach has is that all of its plant points are located in a straight row, which means that anyone who wishes to conquer the base has to fight through the whole thing to get to the end.

Alongside a very tactical new base, Highguard is also introducing a brand-new raid weapon: the lockpick. According to the patch notes, this weapon is “Small but mighty. The best way to raid an enemy base is to let yourself in and lock them out.” That is a very astute way to put it: this gun can fire darts that open doors and windows across the map while also disabling access to them for the other team.

The darts themselves are a brand-new ammo type for Highguard for now; they appear to be exclusive to the lockpick and can only be found in chests, supply barrels, or bought from Trader Flynn. Lockpick is also included with a purple variant, which is a suped-up version of the main gun that shoots energy fields around already lockpicked doors and windows. The energy fields themselves give a short speed boost for allies and for enemies, deliver a zap that damages, slows, and highlights them for a very short amount of time.

Highguard Gets Substantial New Content Patch With New Map, Weapons, and Bundles

As for Highguard’s in-game store, Trader Flynn will now offer seven items a week instead of the previous five, letting players catch up on missed rewards. After that change, we have a couple of new paid offers, like a new mount that looks like an owl bear from Baldur’s Gate 3, which also has 4 different customization options in the same bundle. And lastly, there are new cosmetic bundles that tie in with the airship theme of the update, adding a couple of classic flying items like the pilot’s helmet.

Hopefully, this patch will bring some more attention to Highguard, as it really is a solid game that got a bad rap sheet due to its Game Awards expectations. If this update piques your interest, then check it out for free on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.

Fans and game devs debate Diablo II Resurrected’s recently added Warlock and its impact

You would think that adding an all-new class to an old game like Diablo II: Resurrected would be a happy event, but then you also likely have never experienced ARPG players in public forums and subreddits, who primarily appear to be the angriest of human calculators. That appears to be the case among players of the game, […]
