Brave a procedural world of alien monsters and mysteries in Haex

Haex has been revealed by Dead Astronauts, an open world survival shooter set in a sub-arctic north filled with monsters, robots and mysteries. The game is set to launch in 2027 with an Early Access release.

Dead Astronauts is a team made up of veterans from Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft, and Epic Games, and it kind of shows in just how pretty this game world is.

It’s a procedurally generated world where your character and worlds are saved separately, so you can unlock gear, skills and recipes to take between runs, but each world has its own story to delve into. That story surrounds a sentient cube that lets you manipulate the world – this sounds very Hellraiser, doesn’t it? – gathering alien abilities and ways to manipulate the monolithic entities that you’ll find – alien seeds that can transfrom the world.

The goal is to find a science expedition that went before you, while surviving the cold, keeping your hunger sated, and dealing with the enemies.

Keep an eye out for more soon.

HAEX is Survival Shooter Made by Veterans From Massive Entertainment and Epic Games

Developer Dead Astronauts – a studio made up of industry veterans who have previously worked at Massive Entertainment and Epic Games – has unveiled its debut game with a trailer. Dubbed HAEX, the game will be a first-person survival shooter with multiplayer elements, set in an alien-scarred wilderness that also happens to be engulfed by some strange mist.

The core narrative of HAEX revolves around the players trying to track down missing members of their science expedition after surviving a helicopter crash and waking up in a strange new environment. The overarching story involves an anomaly showing up in the sub-Arctic northern regions of the world, where players were sent to investigate.

The primary goal of the players is to figure out what caused the anomaly to show up to begin with, while also trying to figure out why fellow expedition members went missing under mysterious circumstances.

HAEX can be played both solo as well as in multiplayer with up to three other players. The primary threats that players will have to deal with can range from alien creatures to strange machines that are coming out of the mist. Along with this, the environment will also play a crucial role, and players will need to prepare themselves to be ready for just about anything.

The studio has noted that, among other things, players will have to manage their body temperature, hunger, thirst, and resources. Loadout preparation will also seemingly play a key role in determining how well players will be able to do, and there will also be a need for players to constantly switch out their tactics depending on the weapons they have and the threats they are facing.

Player progression will carry over between different sessions, so players don’t really have to worry about not being able to play by themselves while their friends are offline.

HAEX doesn’t yet have a release date, and is currently only slated for release on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store as an Early Access title.
