Here are some of the Pride events happening across the MMORPG and multiplayer world

It’s Pride month, and that means those of us in the Alphabet Gang are suddenly marketable again! Facetiousness aside, it’s a time when lots of MMOs, MMORPGs, and multiplayer titles highlight and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community within their playerbases, so obviously we’re going to raise a glass and raise awareness. Wizard101 and Pirate101 have both […]

Final Fantasy XIV will bring back Little Ladies’ Day next week on February 26

Once every year, Final Fantasy XIV celebrates Little Ladies’ Day, which in practical terms absolutely means people getting glowsticks to cheer for idols putting on a concert. Yes, it is a bit of a walk to get from “a holiday for young women” to that endpoint, but it happened. The latest outing is planned for Thursday, […]

Massively Overthinking: If you could delete one class or skill from your favorite MMORPG…

This week’s Massively Overthinking is inspired by a tweet I saw from SMITE, of all games, where the Hi-Rez devs asked players to propose one god to delete from the game. Obviously, this is not a serious proposition, but in the aggregate, the answers can kinda show a trend in what people are tired of, […]

Massively Overthinking: What will be your three most-played MMOs in 2026?

So here we are, at the top of a new year, 12 whole months of screwing around in video games laid out before us. In tonight’s Massively Overthinking, we have but one question: What are you gonna do with those 12 months?! I’m asking our writers and readers to rattle off what they think will […]

Vague Patch Notes: The desire for novelty that MMOs can’t deliver

Every time people discuss new things they would love to see in long-running MMORPGs, I see at least a few people speculating about things that aren’t just not happening but would fundamentally break the game. And it always makes a little twitch start up right behind my eye. It’s not that I don’t understand the […]

Wisdom of Nym: What did Yoshida mean by promising another rebirth for Final Fantasy XIV?

You may not believe this, but I didn’t really want to write this column about Final Fantasy XIV because it is entirely based on a game of telephone that is going to disappoint someone down the line. Let’s take a moment to recap. Back a couple of weeks ago, Naoki Yoshida (producer and director of FFXIV) gave […]

Wisdom of Nym: Final Fantasy XIV’s villains are not here for a philosophical debate

So a while back, in the comment section of one of these columns, a commenter noted that at the end of patch 7.3 in Final Fantasy XIV the Warrior of Light does not actually prove Calyx’s philosophy incorrect. He loses against us, sure, but he doesn’t lose after we systematically tear apart his basic philosophical approach […]

The Stream Team: Gearing up in preparation for December’s patch in Final Fantasy XIV

The month of December will be here before MOP’s Chris knows it, and that means he’s got to try to get some better gear to be ready for Final Fantasy XIV’s next content update. So what does he do? Why, recruit his Porg Squadron to do some roulettes and get some tomestones! Join the gang […]

Final Fantasy XIV’s next live letter – and trailer for Into the Mist – is slated for December 5

Normally, the second live letter before a major patch in Final Fantasy XIV is when we find out the patch release date. Not so for the next update; we already know that patch 7.4, Into the Mist, will be releasing on December 16th. But we can still see the trailer and more details of upcoming content […]
