A huge new Where Winds Meet update adds a stunning boss, granny-carrying races, and the buildcrafting tool I wanted most

Where Winds Meet update 1.2 has just dropped, and there's a whole lot to look forward to in what ended up becoming one of last year's breakout open-world games. "Horrible", "boring", and "cheap": Experts pan new chatbot NPCs, but some leave room for optimism

This year, generative AI seeped into mainstream gaming. Though it didn't so much shimmer, as smear. The results were predictably beige and sometimes absurd.

Where Winds Meet players are tricking AI NPCs into giving away quest rewards

It's well known at this point that AI programs have a tendency to "glaze" users, agreeing with a user's perspective regardless of its legitimacy, a phenomenon that has been linked to the recent rise in "AI psychosis." But in Everstone Studios' action-adventure RPG, Where Winds Meet, players are taking advantage of the agreeable nature of the game's AI chatbot NPCs to unlock quest rewards they haven't actually earned, according to PCGamesN.
