It’s Finally Time For Guild Wars 3
And on console for the first time

Guild Wars 3 has been announced at Summer Game Fest. It will be playable through a beta come fall 2027.
ArenaNet has been teasing an announcement at Summer Game Fest, with rumours going around that it would be Guild Wars 3. Now, it can be confirmed that ArenaNet was indeed teasing Guild Wars 3!
Launching on PS5 and PC, the beta will start late in 2027, so there’s going to be a while until the finished game is on the cards. You should be able to register on guildwars3.com but it does not seem to be live at the time of writing.
The announcement comes just shy of 14 years since Guild Wars 2 was released, though that has received six major expansion packs, with the last being Visions of Eternity, which launched last year.
But Guild Wars 3 won’t take the timeline forward, instead it’s delving back in time and will be set over a thousands years before the events of the original game. Guild Wars 3 will take players to the Tyrian region of Orr, an untamed wilderness that’s filled with the world’s magics. Vael spirits will roam the land to embody the vitality of the landscape, but this idyll will be challenged with the emergence of guilds, who will fight over how to exploit or protect what lies beyond the current reach of civilisation.
Players will take on the role of a Vaelwarden, a member of a preservation oriented guild looking to protect the spirits and the lands of Orr. Each player will have a Seeker spirit that will serve as a connection to the other spirits found within Orr, and a great looking mount that will carry them throughout the open world. Naturally, this starting point will grow and expand as you level up, customise your character and build skills through gameplay in a way that Guild Wars is known for.
As Guild Wars is coming to consoles for the very first time, ArenaNet has worked to ensure that combat will work well across both controller and keyboard. Positioning will be key to success, the game giving you momentum to movement, both with a way to seamlessly transition between various modes, and then to use speed to amplify your attacks.
It will be really interesting to see how that comes together, with more details about pricing, beta tests, release dates and gameplay coming through 2026 and 2027.

With June 5 finally here and SGF almost ready to begin, speculations are running rampant. Now, it appears one game in particular has all but been confirmed, as a new domain registration coupled with a teaser from a couple of days ago more or less solidifies the claim that yes, Guild Wars 3 is almost here.
According to X user lucynavt, a new domain for Guild Wars 3 has been registered, i.e., guildwars3.com. While some may immediately jump to the conclusion that this could be a third party grabbing a domain name before the actual publisher, lucynavt explained that both guildwars2.com, the official website for the latest game in the series, and this new domain share name servers rented out from Amazon Web Services.

This all but confirms the imminent announcement of Guild Wars 3, the long-awaited third mainline game in this long-running MMO series. The previous title, Guild Wars 2, came out 14 years ago, and while it has received numerous updates and expansions over the years and maintained a healthy audience, the game is really starting to show its age, as are many other MMOs from the olden era, despite all the shiny patches.
Its developers previously teased that something would be revealed at SGF a couple of days ago, instantly spawning speculation about a potential third game. However, many also believed it’d be a new expansion, update, or something of that sort, rather than a fully fledged sequel.
Nevertheless, with this domain name, we’re almost a hundred percent sure that Guild Wars 3 will be revealed tonight during the SGF, so let’s hope we get a lot of other heavy hitters from big-name studios.

Following the recent teases, ArenaNet took the stage at Summer Game Fest 2026 to unveil Guild Wars 3, the next iteration in the MMO saga. The developers are calling it an action-adventure MMORPG, a modern evolution of the genre that blends rich action combat, character building, and skill collection. In Guild Wars 3, players will master a combat system where depth is achieved through strategic skill use, positioning, and movement, thus mixing classic action RPG combat with Guild Wars-style build-making and creating a unique combat experience. Another trademark feature of the game is a movement system that transfers your momentum […]

This week, ArenaNet teased something was coming. Its messaging, which spanned all of its Guild Wars-related social channels, indicated that it would be 'world shifting.' Well, it's now been revealed at Summer Game Fest that, after much enthusiastic speculation online, Guild Wars 3 is officially coming.

A fresh social post shared by the official accounts for both Guild Wars games has caused quite the stir, as it looks like developer ArenaNet is gearing up for a very special announcement at Summer Game Fest. I'm not going to say Guild Wars 3's on the way, but the signs are certainly looking promising.

And with that the Summer Game Fest is over. At least, the official Geoff Keighley showcase - there are still many more streams over the weekend. I wouldn't say there were many surprises, but it was excellent to get a first look at games like Alien Isolation 2, Fumito Ueda's genAtlas, and Guild Wars 3.
If you don't want to watch through the full two hours. Below you will find every everything announced for PC at Summer Game Fest 2026.
