Bully, Rockstar's enjoyable schoolboy adventure game, is now available as part of the GTA+ subscription on PlayStation, Xbox and "soon" on compatible iPhone and Android devices.

Rockstar announced that Bully would be coming to GTA+ earlier this year, back in April. We've been waiting for word on exactly when ever since.

It's great to have an easier way to play Bully again - though Rockstar describes the GTA+ catalogue as "rotating", so it's unclear how long it'll stick around. Also on GTA+? LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

Grinding Gear Games has announced that early access for the upcoming Path of Exile 2 will begin on November 15, 2024. The announcement came during the opening ceremony for Gamescom 2024, alongside a new trailer.

Other than the early access date itself, the other main features of the trailer are the new gameplay footage and boss designs. We see a floating lich, a bloated creature with a mask and four arms, a plant monster, a figure covered in hands, and a Egyptian or Mesoamerican-looking golem creature channeling lightning. After these enemies are introduced, we get to see some gameplay. This segment showed off the mobility of not just the player characters, but the bosses too. One opponent called Ignaduk the Bog Witch performed what looks like a power-slide on a broom, and others seem to be able to target vast swathes of the arena. Then comes the early access date announcement. While there is currently no direction on how to sign up, there will likely be more information added to the official website nearer to the launch.

Path of Exile is a Diablo-style action RPG that first released back in 2013, setting itself apart from 2012's Diablo 3 with a a graphical style more remeniscent of the older games in the series and a incredibly complex and flexible skill tree.

Yesterday's dramatic announcement of strike action by video game actors over AI concerns may have less of an immediate impact on upcoming titles than first thought.

While the SAG-AFTRA union has indeed voted for voice artists and performance capture personnel to strike from today, a large swathe of projects now appear unaffected.

This includes any video game in development as of a year ago, including (for now) live service games, according to statements from both SAG-AFTRA and the companies the strike will hit, first shared by Kotaku reporter Ethan Gach.

Únik tez2 od Rockstar Games sdělil, že Grand Theft Auto V může být brzy spuštěno v PC Game Passu. Hra byla dříve na Xbox Game Pass, ale pouze pro konzole; na PC by to bylo poprvé.

Přestože je přidání takto prestižní hry vždy vítáno, lze pochybovat, že by ji mnoho hráčů potřebovalo využít. Grand Theft Auto V vyšlo na PC 14. dubna 2015, tedy téměř dva roky po svém debutu na PlayStation 3 a Xbox 360. Hra byla k dispozici více než devět let v různých obchodech, jako je Steam, Epic Games Store (kde byla v roce 2020 po omezenou dobu také k dispozici zdarma) a na vlastním launcheru společnosti Rockstar. Limited Run Games has announced that 20 new-old games will be released in physical form, including Fear Effect, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, Starship Troopers: Extermination, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus.

Recent data states Rockstar's GTA trilogy has hit a combined total of over 30m downloads on Netflix.

Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas made their way onto the service in December, following earlier reports that Netflix had been in talks with Rockstar to licence a GTA game as part of an attempt to introduce "higher-end" titles to its mobile-focused gaming catalogue.

In January, it was subsequently reported that the arrival of these three games had given a boost to Netflix's gaming endeavours, with monthly mobile game downloads nearly tripling to 28m in the December. 18m of these downloads were a combination of San Andreas, Vice City, and GTA 3.

The highly-anticipated GTA 6 is set to release next year across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, Rockstar is yet to say anything at all regarding a PC release.

Now, publisher Take-Two has given further comment on the lack of Grand Theft Auto 6-related PC news, stating Rockstar would "make more announcements in due time".

During an interview at a TD Cowen conference (as transcribed by VGC), Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said "the lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too. It doesn't seem to me that either would be set in stone".

Sony's PlayStation State of Play May Showcase 2024 may have been announced at short notice, but packed within its 35-minute presentation we got a look at a whole host of brand-new PS5 games coming in 2024 and beyond. There were also two new PSVR2 games announced here, as well as the surprise return of one of PlayStation's most beloved mascots, Astro Bot.

GTA 5 will no longer be part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games catalogue offering as of the middle of next month, as the countdown continues to GTA 6.

Path of Exile 2, the next generation free-to-play action RPG from Grinding Gear Games, will be coming to PlayStation 5, and now with a great new feature, couch co-op.

Path of Exile has always been a game that plays great with your friends, but until now, you needed multiple devices to play it on. For Path of Exile 2 though, we really wanted to bring the experience of playing together to the couch.

Players can play collaboratively on a single account, or log in with two separate Path of Exile accounts on the same console.

In addition, Path of Exile 2 is introducing full cross-play and cross-progression. Play with your friends without losing any progress!

Key features

Twelve character classes

Path of Exile 2 features twelve character classes, two for every combination of Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence. While each of the class variants focuses on a different playstyle, they’re just a starting point. You can combine skills from many classes together to create your ideal character build.

Each of the twelve character classes has its own three Ascendancy specialisations, resulting in a total of 36 Ascendancy Classes to pick between.

New Skill Gem system

Path of Exile 2 features 240 Skill Gems that grant devastating active skills, and 200 Support Gems that modify their behaviour. Earn the Gems as you play through the Campaign and combine them together to create your perfect build. 

This is the next generation of Path of Exile’s famous skill system. Support Gems are now socketed directly into Skill Gems, removing many of the frustrations present in the old system while maintaining all the previous depth. It’s now possible to six-link every skill your character uses.

Dual-specialise your Passive Skill Tree

Path of Exile’s iconic Passive Skill Tree has made a return, with 1,500 skills that allow you to completely customise your gameplay experience. It now features Dual Specialisation, the ability to allocate some passive skill points to two different sets of skills. They engage whenever the appropriate weapon or skill type is used. For example, you can have some points allocated to both daggers and traps, or ice and lightning, and as you swap between attacks, the appropriate skill points will apply. This lets you specialise in multiple areas without opportunity cost.

Path of Exile 2 features 700 equipment base types and every single one has its own unique item you can find. You can augment your arsenal with new weapons such as Spears, Crossbows and Flails, as well as supplementary items like Focuses, Traps and redesigned Sceptres.

In Path of Exile 2, every area of the Campaign contains a boss encounter. There’s over a hundred bosses to fight as you make your way through the Acts and they all have unique mechanics to learn.

Společnost Rockstar Games tradičně nevydává své nové, stěžejní tituly pro PC v den a hodinu s vydáním pro konzole, například Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5 a Red Dead Redemption 2 vyšly na PC se zpožděním (a původní Red Dead Redemption pro tuto platformu dosud nevyšel vůbec). Bez ohledu na to někteří doufali, že nadcházející Grand Theft Auto 6 se přinejmenším dočká souběžného vydání i na PC, jenže Rockstar v době oznámení hry v prosinci potvrdil, že se tak opět nestane.

Co přesně to tedy znamená pro plány Rockstaru s PC hrou a kdy můžeme očekávat oznámení týkající se téhož? Generální ředitel mateřské společnosti Rockstar Take-Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick byl nedávno na totéž dotázán v rozhovoru na konferenci TD Cowen, na což odpověděl, že absence oznámení PC verze hry v tuto chvíli nemusí nutně znamenat, že se jí někdy v budoucnu nedočkáme.

„Nedostatek oznámení není něco, co by se dalo vytesat do kamene, protože jediná věc, která se stane po nedostatku oznámení, je oznámení, předpokládám, nebo pokračující nedostatek oznámení, myslím, že to se může stát také,“ řekl Zelnick (přepis přes VGC). „Nezdá se mi, že by jedno nebo druhé bylo vytesáno do kamene.

„Ale Rockstar má k platformám přístup, který jsme viděli už dříve, a další oznámení učiní v pravý čas. Věřím, že správnou strategií pro naše podnikání je být tam, kde je spotřebitel, a historicky tato společnost dělala to, že časem oslovila spotřebitele kdekoli, na jakékoli platformě, která dává smysl.“

Vydání hry Grand Theft Auto 6 pro systémy PS5 a Xbox řady X/S je naplánováno na podzim 2025. Hra GTA 5 byla pro PC uvedena zhruba rok a půl po svém původním vydání, zatímco hra Red Dead Redemption 2 se na tuto platformu dostala něco málo přes rok po svém uvedení, což by naznačovalo, že hráči na PC si na GTA 6 budou muset počkat přinejmenším do konce roku 2026.

Začátkem tohoto roku Sefton Hill a Jamie Walker, bývalí spoluzakladatelé vývojářského studia Rocksteady Studios, které se zabývalo hrou Batman: Arkham, oznámili, že založili nové nezávislé studio AAA s názvem Hundred Star Games.

Nyní se zdá, že studio učinilo významný krok vpřed se svým prvním projektem.

Podle zprávy zveřejněné serverem Exputer uzavřelo studio Hundred Star Games partnerství se společností Microsoft na svém prvním projektu, kterým je AAA akční adventura pro jednoho hráče. To znamená, že Xbox Game Studios bude hru vydávat a financovat – i když není jasné, zda bude exkluzivní pro Xbox a PC, nebo zda půjde o plně multiplatformní hru, zejména vzhledem k novému multiplatformnímu přístupu Microsoftu.

Zpráva dále uvádí, že společnost Hundred Star Games, která sídlí v Londýně, vyvíjí svůj debutový projekt na Unreal Engine 5. Studio se údajně rozrostlo na zhruba 100 zaměstnanců, z nichž více než 20 jsou bývalí vývojáři Rocksteady.

Rockstar's GTA 5 has now sold over 200m copies.

This news, said Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, exceeded the company's forecast. By its previous financial report, GTA 5 had sold 195m copies - so that's another 5m copies since February.

"We are thrilled that more than a decade after their initial releases, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online grew their audience size by an incredible 35 percent and 23 percent, respectively, for the full year," said Zelnick.

Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive have narrowed GTA 6's release window from the previously announced "2025" to "fall" of next year.

Take-Two shared the news during its Q4 2024 earnings report, saying it was "highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience".

"Our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase", it added, noting it expects to see "tremendous growth" in net bookings over the next three years.

Absurd Ventures, the media company established by Rockstar Games co-founder and creative director Dan Houser following his departure from the Grand Theft Auto developer in 2020, is working on an "open world action-adventure".

Absurd Ventures was formally unveiled last June, with a mission statement of "building narrative worlds, creating characters, and writing stories for a diverse variety of genres" across mediums including of live-action, animation, games, books, graphic novels, and scripted podcasts.

November bought news of Absurd Ventures' first two projects, American Caper and A Better Paradise. At the time the company referred to them as two "universes" that would begin as a graphic novel and podcast respectively before expanding across a "wide range of formats and platforms". Both are due to release at some point this year.

Sony has announced its PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games for May, with Rockstar's acclaimed cowboy epic Red Dead Redemption 2 leading the charge.

The latest batch of additions for PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers will be available to download from 21st May, and are as follows:

After nearly 14 years of waiting, PC players might soon have a version of Rockstar's open-world cowboy epic Red Dead Redemption to call their own - if a new datamine proves accurate.

Red Dead Redemption - which follows former outlaw John Marston as he travels across the American West and Mexico - has remained doggedly console-only since its PS3 and Xbox 360 launch in 2010. But the game's recent arrival on Switch and PlayStation had reignited hopes a long-overdue PC release might finally be on the cards - and a fresh discovery by a dataminer with some form when it comes to Rockster leaks suggests that is, indeed, the case.

As unearthed by Tez2 and shared on social media, Rockstar has today updated its PC launcher site file with a series of new "marketing strings", which, as Tez2 notes, is "the same way Rockstar promotes GTAV". The revealing bit of text here, not publicly visible on Rockstar's launcher at present, is listed under the header "RDR_ProductPromotion_Intro_Body" and reads, "Journey across the sprawling American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare - now playable on PC."

Generální ředitel společnosti Take-Two Strauss Zelnick uvedl: „Když vstupujeme do fiskálního roku 2025 s pozitivní dynamikou, očekáváme, že zajistíme čisté rezervace ve výši 5,55 až 5,65 miliardy USD. Náš výhled odráží zúžení dříve stanoveného okna kalendáře Rockstar Games na rok 2025 na podzim kalendáře 2025 pro Grand Theft Auto 6.

„Jsme přesvědčeni, že společnost Rockstar Games poskytne jedinečný zábavní zážitek, a naše očekávání ohledně komerčního dopadu titulu se stále zvyšují. Při pohledu do budoucna věříme, že naše společnost je připravena dosáhnout nové úrovně úspěchu, a očekáváme, že ve fiskálních letech 2025, 2026 a 2027 dosáhneme postupného růstu čistých rezervací. Jsme přesvědčeni, že při realizaci našich plánů podpoříme náš rozsah, zvýšíme naše marže a zajistíme našim akcionářům špičkové výnosy v oboru.“

Když se Variety zeptali na další podrobnosti o datu vydání Grand Theft Auto 6, Zelnick odpověděl: „Myslím, že to tam zatím necháme. Toto [oznámení] přijde od Rockstar a bude v souladu se způsobem, jakým titul propagují.“

Ačkoli s odkazem na „pozitivní dynamiku“, společnost Take-Two Interactive vykázala za tři měsíce končící 31. březnem 2024 ztrátu 2,9 miliardy dolarů (oproti 610,3 milionu dolarů ve stejném čtvrtletí loňského roku). Z toho 2,18 miliardy dolarů tvoří „náklady na dobré jméno“, zatímco „náklady související s akvizicí“ představovaly 304,3 milionu dolarů a restrukturalizace za 93,3 milionu dolarů.

Grand Theft Auto 6 je ve vývoji na Xbox Series X/S a PS5, přičemž verze pro PC ještě není potvrzena.  Hra se odehrává v moderním Vice City a vystupují v něm dva protagonisté, Lucia a Jason, kteří se pustí do zločinu. Rockstar ani Take-Two neuvedly, kdy budou další podrobnosti, takže zůstaňte naladěni na aktualizace v nadcházejících měsících.

Open world crime-a-thon GTA 6 will release next “fall”, according to publisher Take-Two Interactive’s latest earning report, via Eurogamer. This narrows the previously announced release window of “2025” down by, uh, infinity I suppose? A year is an effectively endless stretch in terms of release calenders. But “Fall”, despite not being a real season, is something I can work with.
